Debbie, so sorry your niece is nearing the end, cancer is brutal & heartbreaking, often strikes the ones we would have never given a thought to having to say goodbye at such young ages. Thankfully your CT scan has a good report, definitely a reason for thanks & to live life to the fullest. We never know when our time is up.

Hello everyone!

It has been a week or two since I have been on. I have been down visiting my neice as often as I can. Unfortunately the end is approaching. She isn't able to visit because of the pain meds she is on.

I went in for a follow up CT scan for my cancer screening. Fortunately it came out clear. I am still in remission. It feels bad to have the same type cancer as my neice and I am in remission. Just doesn't seem fair.

I hope everyone is doing well here. I will try to keep in touch a little more often.

Nancy, I hope you are feeling better & not so sore from your fall.

Colleen, so nice to see you again, I wish you all the best on your goals to get to your goal weight for your vow renewal. Congrats!

Debbie, I'm so sorry to hear of your niece's condition. Cancer is a horrible nondiscriminating disease. My prayers go up for your family.

I've been really busy with family, work & church, not much time for anything else lately. Our DD is living with us temporarily so I've getting to see 3 of my grandkids on a daily basis, so much fun.

Hello my friends!

I came home yesterday evening after spending the weekend visiting with my neice and the other members of the family. She is in a good deal of pain. They put her on methadone for pain. It does seem to help take off the edge of the pain. Her husband is working hard to get their new house built. So she will get a chance to live in it. We still don't know how long she has. We have to take it day by day. I will be going back down later this week.

I won't be in April's challenge do to my comings and goings to be with my neice. I will keep in touch with everyone here.

Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Donna, glad to hear that your parents will be closer to you. I'm imagine that all you will enjoy it.

Debbie, so sorry to hear about your niece. Thoughts & prayers are with all of you.

I slipped and fell today. I hit a slick spot in the mud...and my feet were out from under me fast. I don't think I've ever hit the ground so hard. I had jammed my thumb a week or so ago...well, I managed to land right on it. I am not one to cry easily, but, I did then. As I just sit there...first thing that came to mind was....as hard as I had hit, I should have jarred off 10 lbs. Don't imagine that has happened. Even if it did, I wouldn't recommend it. I had to take 4 cans of chili beans & 2 cans of rotel up to my daughter for her to open them. I can't use the thumb with much pressure. Will watch it and see if I need to do anything. Only thing is, now it seems I'm bumping it on things. Oh well, life goes on. ...........

Hello everyone!

Donna, I am not sure when I will be back full time. I need to get make some changes with me and get back on track. I also got news that my neice Kim is not expected to live much longer maybe a month or so.

I am taking off Friday to go and spend some time with her and give her mother and husband some hel with her.

I will do my best to keep in touch from time to time. If I am home I will try to get in to the chat room as often as I can. I imagine I will be spending a good deal of time down with my neice.

Hello everyone1

I just wanted everyone to know that even though I have stepped down as co-leader of the A^I Team. I will continue to support its memebers and leaders. This is the best team I have ever belonged to and consider all its members my friends.

I am just going through some rough times with personal issues that is demanding more and more of my time. So I won't be able to be on here every day as much as I would like. I will be on as often as possible even in the challeges when I can. I hope that maybe in a couple months. I can be a more active member again.

I do know that Cathy, Barbie, Barb. Linda, and the others will take good care of this team. As they have done for the past two years. When my health issues flared up.

I hope to chat with you all soon.

Barb, thanks for that colorful post reminding us to eat healthy in March, a beginning of new habits.

I started out the month taking DH to Urgent Care today, thought he had the flu, turns out it's just a viral cold, not month to do but treat the symptoms. He's taking Coricidin & Tussin, not much out there he's able to take being a cardiac patient. Resting at home this afternoon, just enjoying some down time for a change & catching up with my Spark buddies.

Oh my goodness, where has the month gone, can't believe today is the last day of February.

Up earlier on this Saturday morning, while Kenny is gone to work a 1/2 day, I'm heading into the office to catch up on some stuff. Lately we have been so slammed with walkin clients not to mention phone calls we just can't get any of the workload done during office hours. Hopefully I can put a pretty sizeable dent in the workpile.
Blood sugar has been up lately, no I can't imagine why. LOL Between worrying about my parents health & stress & work, I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

Hope you all have a great day.

Amy, do get that pain checked out, yes sometimes our bodies have a strange way of reprimanding us for the way we are taking care of (or not) it.

Last Sunday was warm but rained all day, hoping we get some weather to enjoy outdoors this weekend, even for part of a day would be nice.

Well I got a little more not so good news...my sister called, and that usually means something is not right with my parents. Apparently Mom has been having issues with her heart ---they've not said a word of this to me. So anyhow the drs ran some test but plan to run more today, but the initial finding is they believe she has angina. I'm praying there's nothing more serious than that, as that is enough. My parents are still young in my eyes, mom is only 66 & already has other issues to deal with --LUPUS, IBS, Fibromyalgia --not to mention taking care of my dad.
Hopefully tomorrow will be the final Saturday Kenny has to work. He's been working about 60-70 hours a week for the past month & now is having pain in his elbow, probably from overuse I would imagine. If not better in a week, he will go have it checked out.

Have a great day.

Donna, hope you enjoyed the weather over the weekend! It was glorious here, in the mid to upper 70's. We went golfing on Saturday and to an outdoor craft show on Sunday. This week has been slightly cooler and dreary/rainy. I'm supposed to golf this afternoon if the rain holds off.
Hope your sleep has been better the last few days. Recently I have been trying to listen to an audiobook in bed, and that usually puts me to sleep really quickly!
That's a great deal getting the free oil changes and tire rotations on your truck. We take our Jeep in for service on Friday. It's crazy in Florida without having state inspections every year. I think a lot of people drive their vehicles with lots of things wrong with them. We couldn't do that in PA.
Sad about the family that lost everything in a fire, but it's amazing how many giving people rally around those in need. That was nice of you to donate some of your clothing.

I finally got back to the gym today - last I was there was last Wednesday what with visitors late last week and then not feeling well early this week. I got severe pains below my right breast and into my back on Sunday night. After talking to some neighbors on Monday, I realize it was a gall bladder attack, which I never had before. I called the doctor, but won't be going in till next Monday. The pain has gone away, but I'm very nervous about it coming back, so I am being very careful about what I eat. That's a great way to stay away from the fatty food, right?

Hope weather is warming up for everyone with signs of spring ahead! Have a great rest of the week!

Amy, yes I am for sure ready for Spring. This really has been the coldest winter I can recall. Normally I seldom have to wear my leather coat, but it's certainly got it's usage this year. We made to 55 today & expecting 64 tomorrow, but a cool down to the 40s by Monday. Crazy weather we are having.

Sounds like you've been playing entertainment hostess. As least the temps weren't as brutal as in other places. Glad you had a good time with your friends.

The insomnia fairy must have visited my place too. Just tossed & turned most of the night. Kenny had to work again today & I had a busy day as well. I took my truck into the dealership service center for my complimentary oil change & tire rotation. When I bought my truck last summer, part of the package was 3 free oil changes & tire rotations. So I have one more to use up before August. Came home & got my housecleaning done & am working on laundry now. Trying to figure out what to have for supper, nothing seems to strike my fancy at the moment. Also got some shredding done & have packed up some shirts & pants that I don't wear to donate to a needy family ---a family of 4 lost everything in a house fire Thursday. So sad but it sounds like lots of people are helping out with various donations.

Hope you all have a great weekend.

All the cold and snow and ice must be getting old for so many people. It's close to the end of February now....time to start warming up with spring ahead. We even had some cold weather here in central Florida. Yesterday was the coldest day due to the wind, down below thirty overnight. I wore my recess duty parka to take the dogs out for their walk yesterday and this morning. Dave's cousin was visiting us from Lake Tahoe and we had to drive her around to show her things instead of taking the golf cart or walking around the squares. Today was better. One of my friends from PA was here and we were able to walk around as it got up in the 50's. This weekend will be beautiful up to mid 70's again!

Donna, binging on snacks is challenging for me, too. Tonight I am doing pretty well. I allowed myself a sugar free pudding with half of a banana, a few peanuts and mini chocolate chips and a squirt of whipped cream. I mostly have cravings for salty carbs though. My weight has been up and down the same two pounds. It must be hard to lose on the prednisone.

Lesley, thanks for posting the snow pics on your blog. I sure hope the snow will be melting soon, but not all at once and cause flooding. I can imagine that it was hard to get back to work! Hope your ears clear up, so you can get off the prednisone and have a good night's sleep. I have heard House of Cards is a good show. I will have to check it out on Netflix.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Lesley, hope you find your mojo as you get back into the working swing. It's always hard returning after being out for an extended reason. Hope you get some rest. I do remember what sleepless nights I had when I was on the prednisone when I had strep & sinusitis. Hope you recover quickly. I'm sure you are excited to have a snow reprieve. I've been seeing the news reports of the snowfall amounts & cold temps up in your area, hopefully you will get a long reprieve & being able to thaw out a bit.

Yesterday was quite a treacherous day in our area. Normally our high this time of year would be in the 40-50s. The main bridge connecting the 2 counties that many have cross everyday had 8 major accidents on it yesterday, finally law enforcement closed the 4 lanes down to 2 forcing people to slow down & limit traffic flow on the bridge. We had chili for supper, it was a good choice for such a cold day, we only got up to 33 degrees & it was expected that there would be lots of black ice this morning with the nighttime temps dipping to 23. So far the roads I've seen were ok, but I'm sure the northern & more inland areas may have some slick roads, just praying everyone remains safe on the roads.

Good morning,

It is back to work for me after 10 days away this week, and it is hard getting back. I have had an ear problem that they gave me prednisone for, and that is causing me to not sleep. I feel like I have a hangover every morning.

I posted a blog with some snow pictures. We have a little reprieve....supposed to have had a couple inches last night, but it missed us, so nothing and a few days free, just cold.

I have never gotten into Downtown Abbey, I am trying to catch up on House of Cards right now before season 3 starts next week. Its on my list to binge watch at some point though.

Okay, time to go to work.

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomfort.

Lesley - Boston, MA

Amy, I love Downtown Abbey, we watch it Saturday evenings before turning in for the night. Those characters on their are a hoot! LOL. Glad you had a nice time on Valentines, it's good to get together with friends & play games, just a time of fun & relaxation ---it's good for our hearts.

The BS is coming down, although it was elevated this morning, but I'm sure that was due to binging on snacks last night --this would normally be my PMS week where I mindlessly snack. Overall I feel ok, slept decent, woke up a couple of times but was able to drift back to sleep. I ended up gaining 5#s with the prednisone, so I've got work to do, starting with cutting out the snacking late at night. LOL.

Many of the inland county schools are closed or on delay with the anticipation of ice/snow which we don't normally get around here. It's better to be safe than sorry with those precious lives. It was weird, when I got up @ 5 to start getting ready for work it was 59 degrees & rainy, it still rainy now as I'm at the office but the temperature has already dropped to 33 degrees. Hopefully no icing of the roads as the day wears on.

Lesley, I'm sorry to hear about your MIL. I'm glad she passed away peacefully. Thinking of you and your family! I can't believe how New England and especially Boston keeps getting dumped on with all the snowstorms and blizzards! That's unbelievable that the National Guard was called in for some of the snow removal - it must be a sight to see! I hope you have been safe and warm! Do you have off for Presidents' Day or are you back to work today? I hope the road conditions and traffic will be getting better soon! Do post pictures on a blog if you have time! I understand about you wanting to retire where there isn't any snow. I still am feeling guilty when we have a day like today up to the 70's here in central Florida when it is so cold up north (I am from PA.) I will be calling my parents soon, and always downplay the great weather here.

Donna and Lesley, even when retired, you may still wake up early. It's rare for me to be in bed past 6 AM, and this morning I woke up at 4:55! I got up at 5 AM during my work years. I like to get things done early, including my exercise. Now I usually go for my morning walk at 7-8 AM. This week I am walking later with hubby, since my walking buddy is having trouble with her leg.

Donna, glad your hubby had a chance to relax last night....wow, those are some hours he is working! He must be exhausted. I understand why you go out to dinner so much! Sounds like a delicious Valentine's dinner! Chocolate lasagna - oh, my! I never heard of it. What is in it? Sounds yummy! WTG on your weight loss and lower BS. Dave is doing better with his BS than it had been and he's already lost 7 lbs in two weeks, cutting back on carbs and no alcohol.

Well, I'm having a much better day than yesterday. On Valentine's Day we golfed and then were together with friends for dinner and a night playing Apples to Apples. Had a lot of fun, but didn't get home till after midnight and then was up early and felt exhausted all day yesterday. Just laid around all day watching TV shows on my laptop (got caught up on Chicago Fire and Downton Abbey.) Today I feel better and am back to my routine of walking and going to the gym, plus I always strip the bed and clean the house on Mondays. Speaking of which, I just finished my salad for lunch and wrote this...now I gotta go and get more things done! I am playing Mah Jongg at a neighbor's house tonight.

Lesley, your day sounds like mine. I'm up @ 5 & usually get a load of laundry done & lunches packed & then at the office by 730, of course the other agents are supposed to be at work at 8 but don't get there til 9ish with the heavy traffic that time of morning.
WHat a small world, I actually lives 20 miles west of Wilmington, but feel like I live in Wilmington since that's where you will find me m-f, I work on the southern side of Wilmington.
We normally don't have much of a cold winter but definitely getting it this year. Today our high is 35 but with the wind gusts the chill factor is in the single digits. We usually only get minimal snow about every 2-3 years, nothing like what you are getting up in Boston, actually my co-worker's son lives in Boston, too funny how small this world is.

FInally getting online, hopefully it will work all day as I've got lots to catch up with spark & needs to download my weekly coupons & get those printed, need to replenish my coupons. Heading to church with DH, thankfully due to cold temps the deacons opted to cancel the night service as our church is mostly senior folks. It's going to mean DH gets to catch up on rest, he's been working 60-70 hours a week at his main job for the last 2 weeks, looks like he's going to have to do this for another 2 weeks.
We had a great Valentine's dinner last night with steak & shrimp on the grill, baked potatoes & tossed salads. For dessert I made a Chocolate Lasagna, oh my how delish! But I know we will never eat it all, so I've dished up most of it & taking each of kids some of it.

Have a great day.

Congratulations on losing! Stinks to have had to be sick, but a loss is a loss no matter how you got it... emoticon

Glad to hear the BS is dropping. Keep up the good work. emoticon

I get to work early - that is why I am up at 4am. No one gets in the office until 8, so I get a nice quiet hour to myself and get more done then most often than in my full 8 hour day!

What part of NC do you live? We have friends in Wilmington, and relative that just moved from Apex to FL. We are actually taking a ride down there this summer to check out the coastal areas like the Outer Banks to retire to. I can handle the cold temps that you say you are having, I am just really sick of the snow. Another couple of inches coming tonight, and then Sunday - another foot. I'll try to grab some pictures and post.

Have a nice evening!

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomfort.

Lesley, oh my, that's a lot of snow, it's amazing how we take for granted the weather is different areas. I hope you have all the necessities at home to get you through until the roads can be cleared.

THe weather is a little crazy, yesterday 45, today 61 & by Sunday 35 --yes these are daytime highs, a little weird for NC. I worked late again last night, it's amazing how much work I can get done AFTER the office closes with no more phone or walk in interruptions. LOL. Hopefully today will be a normal 730-430 workday for me. I do need to run by the grocery store at some point, DH is requesting salad for supper, so I'm thinking I'll make us a nice garden salad & serve with a grilled salmon filet on the side. Easy, quick & healthy --doesn't get any better. emoticon Blood sugar steadily dropping, I'm eager for the morning when it's below 100 again. I do have a emoticon to share. I had lost 15# before getting sick but have gained 4#s back. Yesterday, one of my coworkers came to me and asked how much weight I had lost because she could tell I was thinner, she figured it was about 20#s because she could even seen shrinkage in my face/neck area. She made my day. emoticon

Good morning,

No warming in the forecast. Today 20's and flurries. Tomorrow into Friday teen's and 3-6 more inches, and then temp drops to single digits and another storm on Sunday, but temps are back up to the 20's. National Guard is out now, trying to use equipment to remove the snow - especially from the corners of the roads so you can see out. Boston is esp hit hard - they have approval from the EPA to dump some of the snow into the harbor. Public transportation has been brought to a halt which means everyone is driving into work, and now there is gridlock around the hospitals - so bad that it takes 1 hour to move 1 block. Hopefully when I get back to work next week, the jet stream will move and we will no longer be in the snow belt.

Have a great day!

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomfort.

Lesley, I saw some pics of the heavy snow in Boston & wondered if you had that much snow in your area, one of the cars in the pic, you could barely see the roof of the car, the rest was covered by snow. Hope you get some warming temps to melt all that snow.
I'm so sorry for the loss of your MIL, as much as I'm sure you miss her, there's a peace in knowing she's not longer in pain or suffering. Sending emoticon & emoticon your way.

Amy, If my DH had his way, we'd eat out everyday. He is on the road so much with his job, we rarely get much time together so he just as soon eat out so no kitchen mess to clean up. LOL
That meal you & Dave out with the Salmon sounds delish, I love salmon, we actually try to have it at least once a week. You did good avoiding the high carb options --alcohol & bread, as I know that was sure tempting. emoticon

I ended up working late last night. I missed 1/2 day on Monday taking DD to her oral surgery consult. I don't want to get docked for 1/2 of a vacation day so I'm working longer days this week to make up the time. It's just too early in the year to be using vacation time, besides I've already used all my sick leave for the year when I was sick a couple of weeks ago.
Been having issues getting my antivirus renewed. It's been paid for since the week I was out sick, but having issues getting the download due to a slow connection & issue with the product key. So hopefully I can get this finalized & get my computer protected before any virus decides to attack. LOL.

Donna, hope you are having a great week so far! The party and banquet sounded fun. We can learn from 2 year olds, who find other things more interesting than gifts!

You and I go out to dinner a lot, but we are making good choices! The shrimp Mexican dish you had sounds delish and very healthy! Last night we went to an Italian restaurant with seven friends and Dave and I did so well. I didn't have any alcohol, bread or pasta, which is hard to do with a bunch of friends drinking wine and passing around the bread basket! Dave and I both had salmon piccata with rice, veggie medley and a salad. I had two tall glasses of water. We took a big container of leftovers home between the two of us.

It was rainy here yesterday afternoon, so a bunch of gals went to see the movie, Black or White. Love Kevin Costner and loved the movie.

Hi all,

Just dropping in to say hello from cold and snowy Boston. We currently have 5 feet of snow in the yard and more coming Thursday, Friday and Sunday. This has literally brought Boston to a standstill.

MIL passed away quietly last Thursday. She is now at peace - no more pain, and she is with her husband who she missed very much. This week is now being spent trying to get things sorted out and back to normal.

I hope you are all doing well.

Any change, even a change for the better, is always accompanied by drawbacks and discomfort.

Amy, what an amazing sounding lunch, very light & healthy & you even got to see you son, how wonderful it made the day I'm sure.

The party was great, It was a small one, just their family here in NC & their maternal grandmother & a cousin than came with her from MD. The girls got lots of stuff, several baby dolls, clothes, a wagon to share & misc. Of course, Weslie the 2 year wasn't interested in opening her gifts, she opened one & was done. LOL. Audrey ended up opening hers & her sisters gifts. I even got to hold baby Silas, of course he slept the whole time, he's not quite gotten the nighttime sleeping thing in order yet.
The Banquet was lots of fun. We had steak (Chicken for those not liking steak), baked potatoes, green beans & a roll with tea or lemonade. Some of the ladies had brought in homemade desserts ranging from a Triple pudding dessert to various poundcakes. I had only a few tastes of sweets, just enough to satisfy the craving. We also played some games & I ended up winning a candy dish shaped like a heart & also a decorative stone for a flower garden.
Today we went out for Mexican, I had the Camerones San Jose which was grilled shrimp & steamed veggies, rice pilaf, lettuce/tomato side salad with sour cream drizzled. I ate the salad & shrimp & only half of the rice & veggies for a light lunch.

Can't believe the weekend is almost over, have a fantastic week.

Donna, Sounds like you had a healthy, fun, and balanced day yesterday with a mixture of activities. I bet you miss having your Saturday with DH though, unless you like some alone time. I don't get that much anymore since Dave is retired and here all the time! LOL How was the birthday party and sweetheart banquet?

Great job getting a good night's sleep! Hope you had another one last night. I didn't sleep well Friday night after I got my second wind - I was up till 1:30 AM and then woke up at 5:30! But I made up for it last night. I fell asleep while typing on the computer and then went to bed by 11 and got up at 7. The frustrating part was I forgot to get my last 100 steps in to reach 10,000, which messed up the streak I was on for the month! Oh, well! I know I had my tracker off for a little while after my shower, so I know I really made it! Funny how we get caught up with numbers!

It has been beautiful here this weekend, finally sunny after some dreary days this week, and today I feel spoiled since it is going up to 73! Yesterday we golfed in the morning, but my allergies were bad and I kept getting vertigo when I bent down to put the ball on the tee...it made me light-headed and a bit nauseous. When we got home, I took my blood pressure and it was really low so I rested the rest of the afternoon, got some sunshine by reading on the lounger out on our lanai. Dave and I went to dinner at the restaurant where our son is a server, and we got to see him bustling around - it was really busy there. I had grilled scallops, rice and broccoli - no alcohol again, so I did really well. Not sure what all we will be doing today, except for a morning walk and then I'm going to the gym for a yoga class.

Have a sensational Sunday!!

Amy, we gals need a fun , shopping day every now & then. Glad you had the opportunity to go & have a great time. Good job on saying no to the alcohol & being able to stay home for the evening with your sweetie. UH OH....you got your 2nd wind, now what is in store for the weekend? emoticon

DH has to work today & the next 2 Saturdays, so he won't have a day off til near the end of the month, we don't count Sunday as a day off since he is a Pastor & his Sunday is busy with preparing & delivering sermons at church & any other church meetings that may arrive. I ended up sleeping in til 8am, so feeling pretty rested since we were in bed before 10. I have the housecleaning all done, have a couple more loads of laundry to finish, even made myself a healthy spinach omelet for breakfast. Now catching up on some Sparktime & relaxing. The late afternoon will be busy with going to the girls birthday party @ 4, then we have a Church Sweetheart Banquet @ 630, a fun but busy day.

Have a great day.

Donna, glad you had a good BS number and you are getting more energy back. Being sick for 3-4 weeks isn't fun! What are your plans for the weekend?

I had fun shopping-don't have many girls' days out like that! The group I was with helped one woman find a dress for her granddaughter's wedding. I did buy a couple tops and a pair of shoes. Too much eating out lately. I went out to lunch that day and yesterday, and also out to dinner both nights. My food choices were pretty good, and I refrained from any alcoholic beverages, so I was proud of myself. Tonight we were invited to friends' house for dinner, but I declined because we needed a night home. Dave and I played golf in the late afternoon and it was windy, so I was pooped. I fell asleep for a bit tonight while I was watching tv, and now I have my second wind!

Amy, LOL, well I don't know about sounding sexy, more like a toadfrog. LOL Even some of my clients didn't recognize my voice on the phone.
Hope you had a nice day shopping with the ladies, sounds like a good girls day out.

Yayyy!!! The Blood Sugar was the lowest this morning it's been in a couple of weeks, fasting was 124. emoticon I'm on the final day of my prednisone & have finished the antibotics, of course still feel I have fluid on the ears as I can feel all the pressure. But from what I hear from others that have already been through this it is about a 3-4 week span to be completely healed. At least I am getting my energy back. Had my breakfast of 1/2 banana, boiled egg & 1/2 bagel with light cream cheese. Now time to get this day started.

Have a great day!

You'll sound sexy, Donna! Hope you get your voice back soon. How is baby Silas? Have you been better enough to spend time with him?

It was tough having a Super Bowl party here. We had so much food and lots of leftovers. Today I am determined to be very careful about what I eat and track everything. I am going on a shopping trip to a outdoor mall in Tampa an hour away with four cars of women from our neighborhood today! Looking forward to it, since I don't do a lot of shopping on my own. We will go out to lunch, so I am already prepared to get a healthy salad.

Have a great day!

Amy, No not doing the zombie walk yet. LOL Glad to have you back with us, sure missed chatting with you.

Feel as if I've been up all night, haven't sleep more than a couple hours combined I think. Working on laundry, now need to go get a shower & get ready to go meet my daughter for the trip to visit my parents. Praying Dad is making improvements, hope to see him doing better. Have to make a quick trip as I have to help DH with a photography job @ 230, a vow renewal of our son in law's parents, 25 years. I'll try to pop in later. Have a good day.

Thanks, Donna. I am glad to be back! Sorry to hear that the sleep fairy didn't visit you last night. LOL about the zombie...hope you aren't walking like one - do you know that song? I hope you can have a restful evening after work and get to bed early. I didn't go to bed till 1 last night - too wound up, but once I fell asleep, I was out like a light till 6:40 when Dave woke me up. I usually walk at 7 with my walking buddy, but she had sent me a text that she couldn't do it, so I stayed in bed a little bit longer. Since I've been retired, I don't think I have ever slept past 7, unless I've been sick.

I'm excited that Barbie was kind enough to put me on the BSG challenge team for the rest of the month, so I will be able to chat with you on the Snow Leopards.
I hope to keep checking in here as well. Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

I didn't sleep but perhaps a couple of hours last night. Feeling quite like a zombie off of one of those horror movies, probably look like one too from lack of sleep this week. Just too much on my mind for it to settle down. Hoping the expresso drink will jolt my mojo into waking up. LOL
Hope everyone has a great day.

Hi, Ladies!

After being away from SP since the middle of November, I am ready to get back in the swing of things and reconnect with friends I have missed here. Today was the perfect day to do it as I realized it is my sparkversary! Just dropping by now to say hi. I have a lot of reading to do to catch up with how things are going with everyone. I was sick with some kind of cold/virus off and on the last two months and also dealing with my emotions with my dad in the hospital two different times, I am now doing well here in sunny Florida...except it is not sunny at all this week - can't complain about the temps though. I just started to learn how to play golf. Never thought I would be golfing at all, let alone in January!

Will catch up with everyone and write again soon!

Ann, I am so sorry to hear of your mom's passing, you are in my thoughts & prayers.

Uggg, sleepless night, so much to do today at the office & then have to work on laundry when I get home. On a positive note, I'm ready for meals today, have healthy meals & snacks packed for the office & having baked chicken for supper to go with cabbage & potatoes.

Have a great day.

I haven't been around much because my mom passed away Thursday early morning. We had services and buried her on Friday. I cannot think of a single way anything could have gone better. It was very beautiful. I'm on my way home now and should get back tomorrow afternoon.
It's cold back here!

Sheila, enjoy your heat wave. We are having one this week too. Friday we barely got to 31 for a high, this week we are supposed to be in low to mid 50s. Yep, other than the pollen, I'm definitely ready for spring too.

Catching up on spark today & preparing my meals for the week at work, will make staying track more successful.

We're having a heat wave today - the temp is supposed to make it clear up to 31 degrees! It was -10 the other night and windchill was -25! Snow's not bad with only about 5 inches and 2 more expected today. I'm so ready for spring!

Debbie, you are doing going, much better than I with the exercise, just can't find my motivation to do anything substantial. I do try to do some walks during my breaks to the grocery store or dollar store, but that's about it.

Sheila, how are you feeling today, any better? My sweet tooth is my downfall usually, doesn't help that I have diabetes that right now is not in control.

Our temps dipped to 17 last night, wind chill currently is 3. Definitely not used to this, we seldom get below 20 & not very often. Some of the neighboring counties to my NW actually had a few flurries. Well one benefit of the cold is I slept very well. Did wake up once but quickly fell back asleep. Let the water dripping at home to hopefully ensure no frozen pipes as our temp is not even going to reach freezing today. Had my veggie omlet before heading out, 2 day streak of eating BEFORE going to work, seems to be helping me curb the munchies when I get to the office. LOL. Got a bit of a headache this morning, hope it goes away quickly. Stay warm & have a great day.

Sheila, oh my, hope you can get rid of that nasty ole infection. Take care of yourself, & get lots of rest.

I do have a woohoo. I think my hardest struggle with healthy eating is at work. I was having lunch with 2 of my coworkers, I had made a PB & Banana English Muffin Sandwich , one had BBQ ribs & one had Chicken Noodle soup. After done eating, they decided we should all go get a candy bar, but I held to my plan & said no I didn't want one. Normally I would have caved in. So I really was proud when I finished my tracking last night & found that I was within my target range for calories, protein & fat, just need to work on getting the carbs down.
My headache is lingering still this morning, hope this day goes quickly.
Have a great day!

How exciting for your family - a new grandchild to love!!!
I ended up in ER with this darn bone infection again. I spent a few hours there getting IV antibiotics and my fever is down today. I am so tired of dealing with this!
Otherwise, it's a "normal" day for me.

Sheila, hope you enjoy your weekend. Hopefully this is my last hectic one for a bit. We hosted our DIL a baby shower, our 2 oldest daughter's helped with the decorating & food prep. We had a nice time, family is what it's all about. Just a few more weeks & baby Silas will make his arrival on the 30th.
Today is our usual Sunday, church this morning, then I'll be making taco salads for lunch, working on laundry & the back to church for the evening service.

That's wonderful news Debbie, what a great start to the new year.

We had a nice church service last night, beginning with a meal of collards, blackeyed peas, sweet potato casserole, chicken bog & pineapple cake. We got home in time to watch the New Year's Rocking Eve & then watch the ball drop. We went to bed about 1230 but after taking Benadryl for continuing hives, I slept til 9 this morning. Happy to say, today is the first day of NO hives. Yahoo! I went to Walmart & shopped for the baby shower Saturday, when I got home my sweet DH had supper cooking, our traditional New Years fare of Collards, Black Eyed peas, baked sweet potatoes & baked ham. We even had enough to put 3 meals of each in the freezer, that's going to be great on worknights to make for easy & quick supper preparation.

Hello everyone!

I have good news to share with you. As you know I was diagnosed at the first of this year with Melanoma in my lung. I surgery in March and have had to have CT scans every 3 months since to keep an eye on things. Yesterday, my oncologist called with the results from my last CT scan. It is official I am in Remission. emoticon

That doesn't mean it can't come back eventually. It does mean that I don't have to go and have another CT scan for 6 months.

I want to thank all of you for the prayers, thoughts and support that you all have given me through this rough year.

Donna ~ No, there is still infection in and around the bone just below my knee. It is reacting to the antibiotic this time (this has happened before) so it isn't as inflamed. Thanks for asking.

Sheila, did you get over your sickness? Good job getting preparations done for meals & getting organized.

Well it seems I was allergic to the new meds ---hives, cold skin, vision blurriness, depression, sweats were all side effects from an allergic reaction. Called the Dr yesterday & relayed what was going on to the dr's nurse. She discussed with my DR & she called back about 6 last night & said for me to discontinue the injection & she was calling in a pill for me to start, I think she called it ONGLIZA (sp). So I will pick that up after work today & start it tonight. Hoping no side effects from this one. The downside of stopping the inject was that finally I was starting to lose weight once again. I've lost 1.9# since starting it a week ago.
Took Benadryl for the hives, which normally makes me sleep for 8-10 hours, but no such luck, sleep 4 hours, then wide awake.
Have a busy day at the office, then stopping by pharmacy & grocery stores. I need to make a birthday cake for a coworker as her birthday is tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Just dropping by to say hello! Have to go to the store and drop some papers off at the recycle bins at church and then to mom's to help her make some ham salad from the leftover Christmas ham. I'm still working on cleaning this darn apartment! I got side-tracked in the kitchen yesterday and did some batch cooking. I need to get more of those divided plates to fix meals to freeze in.

Mimi, enjoy the time with your sister & her family. I tend t clean the day before I know that we will have family other, don't want to have to work & miss any time with them.

Sheila, do take it slow & don't make yourself any sicker. Be sure to get plenty of fluids & rest.

Relaxing while finishing up the final 2 loads of laundry. Trying to get caught up before returning to work. At least it's only a 4 day work week.

MiMi ~ Im spending the day cleaning, too. I started yesterday but can only work a little while at a time before I have to stop and rest. Laundry is killing me - going up and down the stairs to the basement. At least Im cleaning the kitty litter boxes while Im down there. I hope you have a nice visit with your family. I miss my nephew - he lives in California, a long way from Ohio!

Donna ~ I envy you being able to go to the beach in December. Its cold and rainy/snowy here right now. I used to go out and walk in this but times have sure changed for me! I hope you enjoyed your dinner and going out together to celebrate such a sweet anniversary.
Im cleaning house very (and I do mean very) slowly. I work about 20 minutes and then have to take a break. I probably shouldnt be doing this but I cant stand the mess anymore.

Enjoy your day.

Sheila, you be resting as much as possible so your body can build up the strength needed to fight the infection. Glad you can remain on the oral meds & not have the port. Get well soon.

About to ride down to the beach to take in some fresh salty air & look at the marine wildlife. I find this to be relaxing especially now that the tourist season is over, it's not so crowded. Then going out to supper to celebrate our special day 16 years ago when we went out on first date. Little did I know that would be the beginning of many wonderful memories.

Hello, everyone!
I'm cleaning house today, or at least pretending to!
Still fighting this infection but did find out today that I don't have to get a port and can stay with oral antibiotics for at least two more weeks. The bad thing is that I have no energy when I'm taking them.
Hope all is well.

Already have 2 loads of laundry done this morning. BS still up, but I'm seeing the scale drop which is good since the new insulin as a side effect of weight gain. Hopefully as the weight comes down so will the BS. Heading to breakfast with DH, then to the mall to exchange a pendant he got me for Christmas, he already got me this same one last Mother's Day, guess he must really like that one. LOL.
Tonight we are going out for dinner to celebrate our 1st date 16 years ago yesterday. I think the plan is to go to OUTBACK, which I don't mind, as I love their salads, always so fresh.

Hope everyone has a great day.

Merry Christmas. We had our family Christmas celebration last night after work. I cooked 2 racks of ribs, fried some chicken drumstick, made a bowl of fresh fruit, Mac & Cheese & banana pudding. DH cooked the clam bake, the celebration was held at our younger son's home. Everyone had a nice time & for once we had all the kids & grandkids there. I even got a pendant that had enscribed "NANA" from all the grandkids, they were so proud marching like a bunch of soldiers to present it to me.

Today we spent the 1st part of that day at home, opening gifts between DH & I, we even cooked breakfast of ham, eggs, fried potatoes & toast. Later we went to visit his mom, rode around sight seeing . While supper was getting prepared I "UN" decorated the house returning it to a normal look while DH took down the lights/garland from the porch. Since today was his only day off from work, we figured it was best to get it done while we had some spare time. Supper was steaks & potatoes cooked on the grill & some garden peas.

Relaxing now til bedtime. Tomorrow We (myself & 3 daughters & 4 grandkids) are going shopping, mostly for stuff for DIL's babyshower. Yes call me crazy with a SUV load of love.

Good morning ladies. Had planned on watching the CMA Country Christmas last night, wasn't very impressed with the performance. It was like most of the artists were trying to out do one another, messed the songs up bad. Carrie Underwood had about the best performance with Michael W Smith. Slept ok, got about 6 hours. Have to stop back by the grocery store later, forgot a few things, besides I need to pick up some linguine for a salmon recipe I would like to try, that's if I can get home at a decent hour. LOL.

Mimi, hope you & your DH get over the sniffles, no time for sickness this time of year. Best to you getting your decorations up.

Didn't get to walk today other than while I was grocery shopping & then making trips back & forth from the car to the house. Traffic was a bear tonight, my normal drive from the office to the grocery store was 70 minutes instead of 20 & then I still had another 20 minutes from the store to home. Didn't get home til after 7, so we heated up the veggie beef soup I had taken out of the freezer.

Sheila, hope you are feeling better. Did you have a nice Thanksgiving?

Ours was good. Had all the kids & grandkids over & each family brought food for the dinner, much easier than me doing all the food prep for 18 people. LOL.

Sorry I've been AWOL for a few days. Spent part of the time in the hospital for dehydration and to get control of vomiting/dry heaves. The final diagnosis is a burst ovarian cyst. I side pain and dry heaves were unbelievable. I'm okay now, just very tired and weak.

Donna ~ Your kitchen sounds great. It will be a good feeling when it is completely done.

Been working on the kitchen remodel. Painting done last week. Yesterday put down new vinyl tile. Today going to my aunts to pickup drawer pulls & knobs for the cabinets & she's also giving me a microwave cart that has doors on the bottom for storage. Woohoo, my kitchen is coming together, only thing left is to get the moulding put down & then put new decos & kitchen towels.

I drank a large glass of my aloe juice & cranberry juice cocktail before bedtime. Must have helped the throat. It was only a little scratchy this morning, but nothing like yesterday. Brrr, it got much colder than forecasted. I'm glad I remembered to leave the faucets dripping otherwise we may have had frozen pipes this morning. It was 15 degrees @ 7 when I was leaving for work. We are supposed to warm up to 47 today with sunshine. Tonight will be warmer than last night, supposed to only drop to 36 & start warming back to the upper 60s by the weekend. And yes I did remember my coat today. emoticon

We aren't supposed to get snow, just really cold weather.

Busy day at work then had a long drive home. Had to take the long way around adding 20 miles to my route as the bridge was closed to highway traffic due to a possible jumper. It seems law enforcement was able to talk him down, hopefully he can get some help for whatever made him/her think jumping was the only solution to the problem(s).
The soup was good & soothing to my scratchy throat, I sure hope I'm not about to get sick, but there are so many fighting colds & pneumonia. I'm trying to stay well.

Colder weather always makes me crave hot soup! We dropped from 66 to 36 one day last week. Now, it's in the 30s and supposed to be in the low teens for most of next week. The first snowfall is happening right now. It's beautiful to look out in but I'm looking forward to going to the store later today. We have about 4 inches and it's still falling.
Maybe I'll make soup, too.

Sheila, I was pleasantly surprised the colors matched so well together & it also makes the kitchen look much brighter.

The weather is going to be a little weird today. Supposed to reach 71 but then showers & windy conditions will drop temps down to the 40's by night time. I have a crockpot of homemade veggie beef soup cooking so supper will be warm & simple.

I think Mexican is my favorite food! It's great that you enjoyed your dinner and had the pleasant surprise of someone paying for it. What a nice thing to do.
I like the color scheme you are putting in your kitchen. I'm going to be buying a condo in the spring and I want to stay with lighter shades when I have it painted.

Had the Camerones Al De Mojo at the restaurant which is grilled shrimp over a bed of Jasmine rice & garnished with Avocado chunks. Very tasty. I must admit the best part of the meal was getting up to the register to pay & realizing that one of our church members who was in there with her granddaughter had paid for our meal already, how nice of her to do that.

Heading home to work on laundry now, need to get my grocery list written out & then head back to church later.

Sheila, bundle up & stay warm as you get your running around done.

Yesterday we completed Phase 1 of the Kitchen Redo. We did finish the painting. We actually put the 1st coat of paint on Friday night but then got up yesterday @ the walls had a pale pink hue about them. That's just not going to do, I'm not a lover of the color pink to start with, definitely not for my kitchen. So back to Lowes we went, I picked out a light beige color & we put a coat over the Pink paint & it looks great now, Kenny trimmed the moldings, windows & door frames with a camel color. I love the brightness of the kitchen now, looks great. We did pick up the new stove & have it stored in the garage til we can get the new floor down, hopefully that can be done one evening after work. I worked muscles I didn't know I had. LOL. Every part of my body ached so bad when I went to bed, ended up taking 4 motrin & sleep like a baby. Feeling great this morning, other than a slight achy hip, but that's about norm..

Heading to church & then stopping for Mexican cuisine afterwards. This afternoon I need to work on laundry since I didn't get it done yesterday.

Have an emoticon day.

Trying to get up the courage to head outside in the cold! I need to run some errands hate the thought of braving the low temps. Oh, well - it could be worse.
Enjoy your day!

No, actually I was sitting a lot & riding in the vehicle. I get them on occasion, but thankfully this was a mild case. I don't eat bananas often as they aren't the best choice with m diabetes.

Ran some errands & lunch, still trying to decide on where to purchase flooring, aiming for a good price.
