Glad you are well enough to start getting back to the treadmill. Just be careful to be cautious about easing back into your routine, don't over do it.

Still on the road, the journey seems to be taking forever, I guess we are just that excited to be reaching our destination. I think we still have about 1 1/2 hour to go. After we get settled in, we will head out to check out the town & see what things we may be interested in doing.

He is Risen!

Because we are The Salvation Army and a church - we have the privilege of giving our employees the important days off. I am still on the mend. I think I am going to get up early and get on the treadmill tomorrow.

I am so glad that you had such a nice visit. It is nice to spend the special days with family. I sure hope you continue to enjoy your vacation.

Jules, that's wonderful to give your staff the day off for Good Friday. I agree it's an important day but I see so many businesses who no longer close because they refuse to honor it since they see it as a religious day. It really bothers me they won't honor Good Friday but will honor other "federal " holidays that seem to be of no importance, just my opinion but we all have one. I'm glad you are feeling better & able to start getting some things done. Continue the recovery my friend.

We had a nice few days with Josh & his family. His daughters are growing up so quickly, such cutie pies they are. Audrey is 2 & Weslie is 1 but such different personalities. They stayed wit us at the cabin Friday night & all day yesterday. Yesterday, I hid some Easter Eggs for the girls, they loved finding them. Of course Audrey collected her sisters afterward & put them in her basket. LOL. Then we all met up for breakfast at Bob Evans before we left WV this morning. I had the scrambled eggs, hashbrowns & bacon with water & coffee. I was my first time dining at a Bob Evans restaurant, very good, wish we had one in Wilmington so we could have another breakfast alternative to our usual spot.
Now we are on our way to the last few days of our vacation, Murphy, NC to celebrate our anniversary in our favorite place ---the NC Mountains. We plan to do some sightseeing in the NC & TN areas.
Happy Easter to all!

Donna, I am almost back. It seems like the cough is going to linger on for a while. I still have an awful lot to get done so I am still in the office working. We gave our staff the whole day off. Policy indicates a 1/2 day - but because we feel this is a very important holiday - we let them have the entire day. But we need to be here for our feeding program (the hungry do not take holidays off) and there is some busy work to do.

Glad you finally got out of the office. God bless great co-workers. Enjoy your time!

Jules, sounds like you have a busy weekend, I love the Easter get togethers, sad that we will miss our church egg hunt & the special service on Sunday. Will keep you in my prayers, hope you are feeling strong enough to enjoy the weekend.

My day started off tense, just seemed like everything was going against the grain, but thanks for my wonderful co-worker, Paula, she saved the day helping me to get everything done at the office so could get out @ 130. It's wonderful working with her, she & I have each other's back all the time, makes it easier to get things done. I got the Rx & travel toiletries picked up, house is clean & tidy & laundry done. We are officially on our way, probably won't get to the cabin til around 2am. I was getting a little tense though, as I hadn't been able to get up with the leasing agent to confirm the rental & directions. Finally we made contact about 3pm. Whew, what a relief to know we have a vacay home to go to. LOL.

Donna, energy is slowly coming back. I am in the office today. There is much to do for planning of Sunday and we have a special luncheon coming up in May for which we need to work diligently on obtaining sponsors/Silent Auction Items/ and so much more. So the little energy I have is being used up today. This afternoon we will visit 12 nursing homes/assisted living facilities to hand out Easter Gifts.

The pre-vacation non-sleep nights drive me crazy. And the pre-vacation “last minute duties” will keep you very busy…but for vacation – I have a hunch it will be all worth it!

Jules, I can relate, when I was so sick in 2011 with those triple infections, I had no energy at all, only wanted to lay around & do nothing, which isn't my nature. I'm always on the move like a busy bee. Glad you are starting to feel better, hopefully by the weekend you will be able to get back to being able to do things again.

Didn't sleep a wink!!! I guess knowing all I have to get done today before we leave for vacation must have interrupted my sleep. I'm planning to get off by 2 @ the latest, need to finish a few files that can't wait a week. Then stopping off at the Pharmacy for RX & then Walmart for some travel supplies. Then heading home to finish the laundry, tidy up the house & get our stuff packed. Hopefully we can head off shortly after Kenny gets home around 6, I checked mapquest , it is just under 7 hours to our destination. Thank goodness we can sleep in tomorrow. LOL.

Rest is a good thing. Starting to feel a bit more like myself. Although my head is a bit foggy. Does not look like I am getting back on my treadmill anytime soon. I only got out of bed an hour or so ago and I am ready to take another nap. For a person who is used to working 10+ hours a day - this no energy thing is no fun at all.

I had hoped, if I had to be home with this, that I could at least get a little house work done. but, no...not today.

Thanks for the well wishes --- hope the storm pass quickly.

Jules, I'm glad you are able to get some sleep with the syrup. Sounds like the same stuff DR put me on that year that I had sinusitis, bronchitis & pneumonia back to back. Rest is vital for fighting infection. Hope you are soon feeling good as new again.

We had a nasty storm come up at bedtime, very high winds & rain. I'm thankful for no damage or even power loss. I did see a lot of tree debris on some of the secondary roads this morning but nothing major. In light of this storm, I still managed to get a good night's sleep. The taxes aren't ready, so we will be filing an extension, we usually have to file the extension anyway so we can come up with the money to pay them.

I slept very well last night and very deep. I am quite sure it was the codeine in the cough syrup. Unfortunately, I have to be in the office for a little more than half a day - for an important meeting. But, I am staying home tomorrow. I am starting to feel a bit better because of the antibiotics....but my head is clogged and my energy level is still down. Until I fight off all of this sickness....I do not plan to exercise.

Scale says I am up a bit, but I am not too concerned. I have other things to worry about right now. Thanks for all your support.

I am glad to hear abut your blood sugars - I am sure your doc is too. Yes, it is tax day...I am sure you will be glad to have that under your belt as you look forward to vacation.

Have a great day

Jules, no wonder you feel so bad but I'm glad you were able to get some meds & see the dr. Feel better soon.

Oh Boy, I was in the Sleepless club again last night, seems many of my friends were having the same issue. I wonder could all that tossing & turning count as exercise. LOL!!! I'm on day 2 of tracking nutrition again --Day 1 was BADDDD..... I did ok til the afternoon but then binging on snack foods -I mean they were healthy but not in the right portion size. emoticon Well at least one positive, my blood sugar keeps dropping, I need to put in a call to my dr to let her know how the insulin is working. Also need to call the accountant as it just dawned on me what today is ----TAX day & I've not heard back from the accountant on what we need to pay. So much to do in the next couple of days getting bills paid, RXs picked up & preparations for packing. Can't wait to get on the road Thursday night.

Have a good day !

Jules, I normally only track my BS fasting also. But since I have to followup with my doctor in a few weeks, she wants to see how the insulin in affecting my sugar at various parts of the day. I was pretty good this morning, down to 115, so I guess it must finally working.

Didn't sleep too great, kept waking up, not sure why as I normally have been sleeping pretty soundly, guess too much on the brain as we make preps this week to start our vacation on Thursday, DH is like a little kid going to the circus, he's so excited. LOL.
Having a Canadian Bacon & lowfat cheese English Muffin for breakfast, trying to stay on track today. I'm making a mini pizza for lunch & then grilled chicken salad for supper with a baked sweet potato. I'm ready to do this!

Donna, that's the thing. We have incredible insurance probably the Cadillac of insurance. Better than almost anyone I know. It is just this one urgent care (the only one in our city) that does not like to work with a "second party" insurance. It is pretty nuts.

Glad to hear about your blood sugar. Larry only tests "fasting" in the morning.
He is doing better....not quite where the doc would like him..but I am proud of his effort.

I will be seeing my doc (or someone in his office) in the morning. Really, looking forward to just having some relief.

Jules, that's not good to not have access to affordable care using your insurance. But I'm hearing more & more of issues with getting quality healthcare nowadays. Sure hope you are feeling better soon.

Yayy, got home & finally for the first time in I can't remember when, my after meal blood sugar was under 200. Getting it down, bit by bit. Heading back to church & then home to finish the laundry.

Donna, sounds like a fun shopping day with friends. You must be getting excited about vacation.

I made it through church and am now trying to relax a little. I am going to try to see the doctor tomorrow. We have one urgent care in town - and they do not work with our insurance. So they want all the cash up front - and then we can file for reimbursement. So if we really want to be seen, our only option is the ER and I hate going there - when it really is not an emergency.

I am just completely drained.

Jules, oh my, sure hope you are feeling better soon, take care of yourself & you are right to get plenty of rest to fight off any infection you may have. Will say a prayer for you today.

Yesterday was so busy I didn't get to stop in the chat rooms. We got up early @ 7 to go meet some friends for breakfast. We had a great time, it was nice to see them again, I don't think we had seen them since before Christmas. We did some shopping, I got some new tops for our vacation & also picked up a new shirt for DH, just in case we go out with the kids while on vacation. Sears had an awesome sale, I may go back before vacation & get me a pair of crop pants. My BS# seems to be doing better of a morning but spikes pretty bad after meals . I was surprised because I had the Chilis Mango - Chile Tilapia with rice & steamed broccoli for supper, 560 calories, but yet the BS# was till near 300. Well at least the weight is finally dropping, I did loose 4#s since last week. YAYYY! Heading to church now, have a busy afternoon of laundry & getting the truck vacumned out in prep for our trip later in the week. Have a wonderful day

I am thinking I might be coming down with bronchitis. It seems to be going around these parts.

Donna - I am home and trying to settle - but taking a few down days. Feeling very unenergetic and have little motivation. We do have the stock car races again tonight. I am thinking if this cough does not get significantly better - I might send my husband on his own. I don't like doing that, especially since it is the next to the last race for the season....but I am just not sure I am up to it. Don't have to decide for a while.

Resting for now

Here is an interesting link a friend shared with me for tracking calories burned that might not be associated with exercise.

Debbie, I'm so happy to see you back to sparking with us. I tried to leave you a message on your SP page the other day, but some technical issue kept it from happening. I pray you continue to have an awesome & speedy recovery. I bet the kids will keep you company, they missed "Mom".

Jules, hope you are getting settled back to your routine.

It was a long day, although much productive, I can see some organization to my desk once again. I am hoping that by Wednesday of next week to have all my files completed & emails read & answered. I would like to only work 1/2 day on Thursday to I can come home & start packing our things so when Kenny get home we can jump in the truck & make the trek to WV, The driving should be easier @ night & of course we could sleep in a bit at the cabin so we can have an extra day with our son's family. SInce I didn't got home til after 6, we went to SUBWAY for supper, I had the club loaded with veggies & the Cajun chipotle sauce in lieu of any mayo or other fattening sauces. Now relaxing til bedtime.

Hello everyone!

It is good to be back again and hopefully for good. I have been home since Monday from the hospital for the second time. I am getting around the house lot better though I still have my 50 ft tether.(oxygen) I have to stay on 24hrs still but we are weaning me from 4liters back down to 2liters of oxygen.

My fur kids are glad to have me back home. Katie and Josh follow me from room to room. I think they are afraid I might dispear.again.

Everyone have a great day.

HUGS

Welcome back Jules, those 3#s will be history in no time.

Woohoo, Happy Friday. Have lots to do at work today as the computers would not cooperate yesterday so I got absolutely nothing accomplished. Hopefully today will be a better day.
Been going to bed early all week but still feeling exhausted, I'm wondering if it's a side effect of the medication but willing to give it a try as long as it improves my blood sugars.

n search of motivation and energy -- have none of either tonight. Sitting on the couch not feeling well....looking at the treadmill while watching TV.....really want to be walking but I cannot seem to "move it - move it".

Donna - so glad you slept last night! And yes I know that 30 minute difference well and it does make a HUGE difference! Larry made his own Glucose tracking log. I am so glad that vacation planning is coming along so well. While we are away a lot (conferences and seminars.......vacation is still in the future.

I am happy to be home and back at real work...have so much to catch up with and I am not feeling at all well. Conference cost me about 3 pounds...so it is definitely good to be back in my own surroundings

I slept well last night, actually got to sleep in a little again this morning. You wouldn't think an extra 30 minutes makes much difference but it sure does. I need to head over to Staples , the last time I was there I saw a Glucose tracking book, need to get one of those so I can keep tabs on my BS#s as my dr wants me to call with the #s after I've been taking the insulin for 2 weeks. Personally I still am not seeing a difference, #s are still pretty high. I also need to head to the bank to get a couple of certified checks & get those mailed for our cabin rentals, can't believe in just a week we will be packing the truck to head to a vacation with no deadlines or juggling our normal activities. Can't wait to see our 2 little granddaughter's Audrey & Weslie. emoticon
Hope everyone has a great day.

Succcess!!!! FInally found a place for us to stay on the first part of our vacation next weekend. We will be staying in Summersville, WV 17-20th while we visit our son's family. He is currently in a very small apartment & just doesn't have room for us. I was beginning to think we would have to settle for a hotel room instead of a cabin or cottage where we would be better able to relax & could have the kids come visit us in our temporary home. I already booked the NC cabin for our stay in the NC mountains 20-23rd, when it will just be DH & I. We decided to take a few days for ourselves since next Thursday is our 15th anniversary.
I was so excited to see SP has made the diet tracker app for smart phones free, so I downloaded the app to my phone today & will be putting it to good use. Free sure beats paying $3.99. LOL.

Jules, good job on passing up the cheesecake, you have better willpower than I would have because I LOVE cheesecake, any kind. Have a safe trip back home, I'm sure you will put that treadmill to good use.

I got a full 8 hours of sleep last night, but feel so tired still. DH even let me sleep 30 minutes past our usual time to rise & shine. It's a rainy & dreary day here but at least it's warm. The rain during the week doesn't bother me so much since I'm stuck behind a desk most of the day.

Donna, I am really trying at this conference....passed up cheesecake tonight. Not really tough to do. But I sure wish that my husband, the diabetic had not eaten it (along with his own). But after many years, I have come to accept that mine is the only behavior I can control.

Our meals have not been the healthiest...and I sure wish there was a way to get some exercise in...but with no fitness room, it is indeed a challenge. I tired jogging in place in the bathroom this morning....my shoes squeak on the floor. I did some seated knee lifts here in the room tonight and our conference had us doing some walking today. Our conference ends after a lunch with a speaker tomorrow. So after a 4 hour drive home - my plan is to get on my treadmill.

I have been drinking more than enough water......and luckily I am sitting in the back of the room where I can escape to the bathroom fairly discreetly.

Jules, conferences can be daunting when it comes to staying on a healthy track, but do what you can. Are you making sure to fill up with plenty of water? Before you know it you will be back on your turf where you call the shots.

Well when insomnia hits, it definitely goes all out. I've been awake tossing & turning since 1am, decided to get up @ 3 so I wouldn't interfere with Kenny's sleeping. Been working on some laundry & sparking. I even checked BS --as I thought perhaps that was what was keeping me awake, but nope, it's actually one of my lowest #s in several weeks, almost a normal reading. emoticon

Hope everyone has a sparkful day.

Well I guess that conferences are not good for me. I am quite sure I consumed 1 million calories. Everyone one of them absolutely delicious. Tonight was the only fancy dinner (multiple calories) - I had done so good with breakfast before we left and even with our lunch out (very healthy) - it was the snacks after lunch and tonight that threw me way off.

Yesterday, I was more than excellent - and tomorrow will be much better. We will be eating institutional (cafeteria) style food tomorrow and Wednesday----then head home. The motel we are staying at this time does not have a fitness room.....so the option I have come up with is "walking in place" in the bathroom of our hotel. Not too exciting - but it will burn calories.

We will see how things go

Although I stayed up a bit later than I had intended, watched most of the ACMs last night, I feel pretty good. Having a greek yogurt & fruit for breakfast to control my calories since I'm going out to lunch with my DD. She wants to go to a local Philly Cheesesteak place, it's always been her favorite place for us to go but she seldom gets a cheesesteak since she lives 1 hour away. I'm looking forward to the time with her as with our busy schedules we don't get to see each other much.
I need to run over to the grocery store in a few to grab the ingredients for the SP recipe for the Salsa Chicken & Rice. This is one of DH's favorite healthy meals & it's so simple to prepare.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Good choices Julie!

Getting away a little late from church, had to talk with a young lady who is questioning Bible things. Just keep her in your prayers that God will open her eyes to HIM. After lunch I'm heading to the grocery store to stock up on some vittles as our cupboards are pretty bare at the time. Fortunately I was able to find things to cook to go with our BBQ chops leftover from last night.

Sharon, Way to go on getting started with organizing & straightening. I agree housework does give a workout, sometimes I tend to get a more intense workout than when walking. LOL. Good job on staying busy & making great choices.

I actually had to wait for darkness so I could go to bed, I slept ok for the most part but did wake up several times throughout the night, but thankfully I was able to go back to sleep. Although I didn't have to drive DD into work, I did have to get up @ 530 to make sure she was up & getting ready to be out the door by 6. So I just stayed up & washed a load of laundry while I looked over my Sunday School lesson & enjoyed a cup of coffee. It was a relaxing time as I was the only one stirring after DD left for work. It's a beautiful Spring day here in NC, there's a crisp to the air, love the feel of these cool mornings. After church I need to go get my meds & groceries.

Hope everyone has an emoticon day.

Good evening everyone,
Yesterday I worked on getting the utility room and the kitchen back in shape. I am trying to do one room at a time Until the house is clean again. My son asked me if I worked out and I told him yes cleaning house. He said that don't count like lifting weights or running does. I told him yes it does.

Today my husband took our 14 year old out to breakfast. With it cold out today , I decided to cook up some soup. Then I took Robert to his bowling league. While there one of the parents said you want nachos, pretzel with cheese or a candy bar. I told her no but I am getting up to get a diet coke. I wasn't hungry and had already decided to not to buy the greasy snacks.

My son said that he was hungry. I told him that I was sorry but you decided not to eat the soup that I made so you can wait.

After bowling my son was invited to a sleep over, so my husband and I are alone for the night. My ask me after getting back from dropping Robert off, go by sonic and get us a blast here is $10. I told him okay.

Did take our dog for a walk today and played with our three cats.

Hope everyone has a good evening with whatever you do.

Julie, sounds like you & I had similar aspirations to get things done around the house. My day was more productive than a typical Saturday, not as much as I had planned for. I've fighting high blood sugar all day, in the 200-300 range. It seems to be somewhat better, perhaps all the extra water is helping.
Normally DH & I go out on Saturday evening, but neither one of us felt up to going out. I had wanted us to go out & then ride down to take a walk on the beach, but I just don't have the get up & go. Maybe a good night's rest will help me get to feeling better.

Donna - we don't do movies hardly at all. The last two have been an exception as we have taken church members who are still baby Christians - as an encouragement to them. It has become part of the ministry.

Today has been fairly productive. We had to go by our store to get some things done before the employees came in (it is the only time to accomplish much without interruption). Then Larry took me out for brunch (think most of my calories were consumed with that 2 in one meal). I have completed 3 loads of laundry - and cleaned up thoroughly two rooms! Yes that dreaded ironing is piling up again. That may be my after church project tomorrow. Thank goodness housework burns calories!

Sharon, I'm glad you are rejoining us. Yes, you've been through a lot in the past year which makes it difficult to focus on what your healthy needs are. Let us know if there is anything we can do to help.

Jules, I've heard some great reviews about the movie, GOD's not Dead. We don't get out to the movies much, mostly we never have time Hopefully we can buy a copy when it goes on DVD.

Yesterday was a busy day, spend the whole day practically shopping for DD's car. But we found one that we both feel was a good choice ---a 2002 Toyota Camry, one owner & was serviced routinely, car is in excellent condition. The price was good for her budget & the perfect size & gets about 28 miles to the gallon which is good for a car of that age.
I discussed with my DR the issue with the insulin pen & how expensive it was. She gave me a card that I can use that is supposed to cap the cost @ $25 per refill, now that is doable I think. So I will be started the injections again as the blood sugar isn't doing great, and especially today, I did manage to get my housecleaning done & even got my car cleaned but the high sugar is really making me feel bad. So I drinking lots of water in hopes to help dilute the high sugar in my blood, it's worth a try I guess.

Sharon,

I am so glad you are part of our group. It really sounds like you have had a difficult journey. I hope to get to know you in the days and weeks ahead. May I add you to my prayer list?

Donna - yet another busy day. In fact just got home. We had some errands and business in Las Vegas (about a 3 hour 1 way drive) - it is actually the closest Costco (for supplies) that we have. So we go about once a month. That really was an ALL day affair. when we got home, we made plans with a couple from church and saw the movie God's Not Dead" - very powerful - well worth seeing. It is geared more towards young adults but still so moving. If the opportunity arises - I recommend it.

Good evening everyone,
The last two years has been a roller coaster ride with emotions and eating. Both of my parents have pasted away and has taken me this time to cope with it. Along the way I started feeding the emotions instead of coping with them. I am ready to start losing the 60 pounds and to be able to do things again that were fun. I look forward to talking with each of you and supporting you.

I hope everyone has a good evening with whatever you do.

Julie, I agree, planning ahead sure makes it easier, I do that as well sometimes. I'm not an Italian lover at all, will have lasagna on occasion but on a rare occasion. Thankfully the salad is my preference as I'm not a big bread eater.
I had a good day, best part is knowing I'm now off work til Monday! Relaxing a bit watching my favorite show --THE BIG BANG THEORY. I actually get to sleep in a bit since both myself & DD are off work. I have a dr's apt tomorrow morning to discuss my diabetes & meds, then DD & I are going shopping for a used vehicle. She's excited & so am I as it will free up some of my time so maybe life won't be so busy for me.

Donna, We totally skipped winter too. It has been that way for a few years. Summer - Fall - Summer. I think out lowest overnight low between November and January may have been 40 something.

The meetings with planned and prepared food are the tough ones aren't they. Larry and I are off to another conference/seminar (whatever!) Monday through Wednesday. The first dinner is at a restaurant called "Ye Ole Spaghetti Factory".....all carbs all the time. I am not a big fan of Italian food (except the bread....LOVE IT!!!). Larry and I have looked at the menu on line. We have already chosen a low carb healthy salad entrée for him. My least favorite meals are salads (except yesterdays) - so I am still searching for my healthy option. We have found that if we pre-plan for what we are going to eat - we tend to lean towards the better choices.

Good job on the water intake!

I just joined the FREE 30-day trial of SparkCoach - on the PlateauBusting Program. We will see what difference embracing something new does.

Jules, that Pineapple salad sounds yummy & healthy for the most part. I guess we all jumped from winter to Summer as it's pretty hot here too, high 80s this week.

The class was good, other than very hot. It was a nauseating hot, there were a few ladies in there that were extremely cold natured so the teacher didn't turn the ac on. I was so glad to get out of there & into my car with the AC blasting. Our area actually got to 86 degrees yesterday with today being pretty much a repeat. The breakfast & lunch served wasn't quite as healthy as previously. The lady in charge of meals no longer works there so the new receptionist & teacher took care of food prep ---too many carbs! I made moderation my theme trying to limit since the choices all included carbs in nearly every dish. At least I focused on water as well, probably helped keep my body a little cooler.

Oh my goodness Donna...anymore water and I would float away. Minimum of 72oz/day. Lately closer to 96. This is a hot and dry desert.

The salad was more beautiful than tasty. It was a bead of lettuce with mandarin oranges, pineapple chunks sprouts and carrots, with cubed chicken breast served over a pineapple 1/4moon shape with the outer shell and leaves still (probably 1 pineapple served 10-12 on for beauty and some amazing dressing - with a few wonton noodles sprinkled for garnish.

Jules, don't forget plenty if water to keep hydrated. I'm interested in what that salad is, please share.

I have an insurance class this morning; then work til 5:00. Not sure if Dh will make it home in time for church. I guess we will see how the day plays out.

Today is another "run around" day plus a luncheon meeting. The menu calls for - " Chicken Pineapple Boat Salad" - not sure what all that entails...not even sure if it is as healthy as it sounds...but I guess I will find out.

I believe we are in the upper 80s today..and I slept a bit better last night as well. I followed Grandma's old solution of just a bit of warm milk with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top.

I can understand your frustrations. I know sometimes it really gets to me because we are always on the go & never have time to do things that need to be tackled like bank statements & working on monthly family budget/expense reports. Someday I will get to it, but we never seem to have any time as it is now.

I had planned not buying the spark tracker for my phone, didn't want to spend the $3.99 but otherwise I see I can't do my tracking as I never can get on spark except for about 1 hour in the morning, lately either time or pathetic internet services prevents me from getting online after work.

I did sleep much better last night, feeling much more refreshed today. It's a pretty day of 75, would make for a perfect day to be off work, oh well, wishful thinking. emoticon

Donna - yes home is much better for sleeping - although not so much last night. I just can't see spending $3.99 for the sparkpeople tracker when I can get on my computer fairly regularly. Plus - since my phone has internet access - I can, if needed get on my phone to log.

Next Week from Monday to Wednesday, my husband and I are taking one of our employees to Phoenix for a training seminar. So there is another 3 days away - in a strange bed - sitting in meetings all day with all meals and snacks pre-planned. Sometimes I just get frustrated at all the time we are away at conferences/seminars - while my work piles up on my desk... I still have to complete a GIANT Christmas report.

Jules, I sure hope you had a restful night, I'm sure you need it after being away for several days. No bed sleeps quite the same as our own.

Another sleepless what a way to start the week, but not letting it damper my motivation. When I upgraded my phone recently, I failed to purchase the SP tracker app as it's no longer free for smartphones, so I need to do that today. I find with the tracker on my phone it makes it more accessible for tracking & today 1 is the beginning to tracking one again.

Donna, I have been resting since we got home for church - sort of napping between loads of laundry. I think the conference, even though I prepared by bringing healthy snacks - was not good for staying healthy.

I got up early this morning and got on the treadmill. It does not seem to be a great day though - I have a bit of a headache (I think it is the wind). I am amazed that April is almost here.

It will be nice for DD to have a car. Perhaps instead of commuter chats - you will have to do some mom and daughter date nights??

Here is to an Amazing April!

Jules, glad you are home, safe & sound. Rest is just what you need now, sweet dreams & have a blessed Sunday.

It's been a productive day getting things done around the house. Now off to bed I go, have to be up @ 530 to take DD into work. Hopefully in a week this will change, hoping to help her get her own car later in the week. Of course then I will miss our commuter chats. Good night friends.

Home at last and much catch up to do. We have the stock car races tonight. Larry is the chaplain so it is a "command performance". I am preaching tomorrow - so again not a long post. Will begin catch up fully tomorrow. Blessings!

Jules, praying for safe travels, hope you get a good night's rest today.

I actually got to sleep in this morning, DD had the day off finally. DH & I did ride into town for breakfast & to pickup a new vacumn cleaner & pickup his refills at the pharmacy. This afternoon I've been working on laundry housecleaning & doing some junk mail shredding. About to go prepare our supper, ham, tossed salad & Noodles with cheese sauce.

Jules, just do what you can about making sensible & healthy choices. Will pray that you have safe travels back home, I know you are ready to be back on your home turf.

Well the rain has arrived, but otherwise a nice evening. Heading out to dinner with DH, he wants seafood for supper. I'm starved, we were so busy today with being short 1 staff I didn't get my afternoon snack & my healthy lunch of salmon, steamed veggies & a baked sweet potato is gone. LOL.

Donna . excited about spring for you. hope you get to enjoy it.
Conference is almost over. Went with the best plans and intentions.. But when the person in charge, who is the boss plans the meals and attendance is mandatory...it is a challenge. At least we travel with our own healthy snacks. And time allowed for one exercise day. We will see how the week goes

Jules, glad the meetings are going well & you have access to some fitness time.

Ari, wonderful to hear you are steadily improving. I know you will be glad to be back to 100% feeling like yourself again.

I slept much better last night, got a full 7 hours of sleep, yayy! Headache is just barely hanging on, so hopefully by tonight it will be a distant memory --one that I don't wish to recall. LOL. One of my coworkers has decided she wants to join me for walks after work ---Yayy, having a buddy to walk with will help me stay on track. Looking forward to our first walk this afternoon.

That is wonderful news about your sister, Donna! Praise God! I will say a special prayer for her!

I just wanted to stop by and tell the team how much I have appreciated all of you this past month, it has been a difficult one and all of you, Clovers and Charms have helped me stay focused on making positive changes and staying present, with your messages and goodies.

I can almost smile with both sides of my face, my right will close all the way when I close my left one and part of the way on its own, my nose is functioning on both sides and taste has returned to all of my tongue! The horrible pain is only after a long day, but if I stop and rest my face, by laying my head back, that is better too!

Hello from Tucson, AZ....6 hr drive to conference yesterday and a 4 hr. dinner meeting. In 6 hrs. of sleep-I slept minutes of each hour. I did ,manage to get up early this morning and hit the fitness center. our day will start with breakfast and then meetings from 9-2. We have this afternoon free. My husband ... the social butterfly will have us out and visiting. Looks to be a long few days. May not be on line much but will do what I can.

Yesterday was the first day in 3 months that I did not visit each of my team members pages. Points will not be good. Happy Week 4

Jules, emoticon on the increased time on the treadmill, as well as a good night's sleep which is vital to our well being. Fiber in my diet is another struggle for me, I do try to get more but probably not as much as I should.

Well the truck repair wasn't as bad as we were expecting but still $360 is not an expense we wanted to make. It turns out it was the front right ball bearings needing to be replaced. Glad we got that done now rather than it happening when we were traveling on vacation. Since I had to meet DH in town last night to get the truck picked up, we stopped for supper @ Ruby Tuesdays, their salad bar is awesome! Didn't get home til 9 so again I missed out on my walk. It's raining today, so will have to pop in a walking dvd when I get home, guess I can do this while I get the laundry started.

Donna, I think I was the opposite. I think I slept too well. Forgot coffee this morning - blah!
I walked 30 minutes instead of 20 on the treadmill this morning. Felt pretty good. My newest "issue" as if I did not have enough already is apparently I do not eat enough fiber to keep things "moving". Feeling very bloated today!

Didn't sleep well, guess my usual restless Sunday night. Oh well, got a busy day so have coffee in hand. LOL. I did remember to bring my work out clothes so going to try to brave the chillier day for an afternoon walk at the park. I find if I walk at the park (it's just down the street from my office) I tend to walk more regularly & more distance than if I wait til I get home which is a 30 minute drive (if no traffic woes). DH is working late again, so I have a couple of Healthy Choice Entrees & I will fix a small salad to go with those for supper.

Hope everyone has an awesome day.

Jules, have a peaceful day.

We stopped for lunch @ a Mexican restaurant. I had a very tasty dish, it was 2 thin pieces of chicken breast grilled & served with mushrooms in a spicy, cheese sauce, a side of rice & a salad mix (lettuce, tomatoes, red cabbage drizzled with sour cream. I only had one of the chicken breasts so I'm bringing the 2nd one to take for lunch tomorrow, just need to find a veggie of some type to take with it. Rain is in the forecast for this afternoon, so hopefully I can get home & get my walk done before the rain arrives.
Just wanted to share some wonderful news I received from my sister. She had her scan done following the radiation & chemo, she is cancer free & doesn't need to have the surgery she once thought she would. Her energy level is about 60% but she's getting there & eager to become active once again. That is one phone call I was ecstatic to receive.

That's wonderful Ari!

Didn't get by here yesterday. Really busy, On the way to breakfast we dropped off DH's truck at the mechanic shop for them to look at it next week & see what's going on, something apparently with the rear end, hope nothing too expensive as we just spent $600 on brake work. After breakfast, we went shopping for Levi's birthday gifts & then managed to get the housecleaning done before going to his party. He had a wonderful time, I think there must have been about 10 children then, all running around with excitement.
Today looks to be a pretty spring day, so planning for a walk after lunch.

Donna - yes the rest was nice. At the moment I am sitting in my office while the facilitator for the class I am hosting teaches the class. I am supposed to be catching up on work....but had to take a break to say hi! I cannot believe we are rounding up our 3rd week.

Next week I am at a conference from Tuesday through Friday -- so during that time, posting might be random. Luckily, the hotel where we are having the conference has a FITNESS CENTER!

Now...back to work

Jules, I'm sure you needed the extra rest. Hope tomorrow goes smoothly without a hitch, you have the fun job. LOL the refreshment lady.

Ahh, finally off, didn't get to take but like 10 minutes for lunch, a little busy. So I left @ 345 to go to the office deposit & then head home. It feels good to be off at a decent hour. Now heading out with DH for date night, we both have been working some long hours this week, so I think this is an evening well deserved.

Great Job Donna! Keep up the good work and both the BS#s and the scale should reflect what you are putting into it.

I slept well last night, almost too well (possible?) I woke up feeling a little "clouded". Today is not such a crazy day. But tomorrow will be long. I am hosting a training at our corps (church) building for volunteers who are interested in training for The Salvation Army's Emergency Disaster Services. There are many courses and we've trained our volunteers on various parts. The class tomorrow is in-depth and is 8 hours long. I have already taken the course, so am just there as the "refreshment/lunch provider" and will spend most of that time in my office catching up.

Still, I'd rather be busy than not

THanks Jules, Yes I do understand the importance of caring for my feet. I would be devastated if I ever lost my feet or or legs, especially if I could have done something different. I understand about the problems with OBAMACARE, I see it all to often with clients venting. But like you I choose not to discuss it here.

Yesterday I called the Pharmacy, yes they did fail to bill the insurance for DH's medicine & will refund us the $9 overcharge. That I'm not so concerned about, but unfortunately the $95 she quoted on the insulin/needles is my part AFTER insurance. Yikes. So I'm watching my BS closely & what I eat over the next week to see what I can do to alter the #s, perhaps I can get those #s down without insulin as I sure can't afford it.
I did get a good night's rest last night & BS is down just slightly but the good thing is the scale. When I started the insulin, my weight shot up from 172 to 179.8. Today I weighed in at 177.0. emoticon . Now time to move forward & get that scale moving even more!

Donna – I have found some prescription issues since the first of the year as far as billing/etc. Perhaps all connected to the Affordable Care Act. (I won’t go there…this is no place for politics).
I sure wish that doing great with the fitness would just register on the scale at some point. I am well aware of the non-scale victories and enjoy the looser fitting clothes – but really? It is just frustrating as heck. For three months now I have gained and lost and gained and lost essentially the same 2 pounds.

Yes, take care of your feet. My sister in law had a blood blister on her foot 2 years ago. It got infected. For months they tried to treat it. The infection went to her bone. They continued to try to treat it with antibiotics/immersion therapy/oxygen chamber etc. Last year, all of her toes and a portion of her foot were amputated. The infection came back. Bottom line, last month part of her leg was amputated 10” up from the ankle. This week she will be fitted for a prosthetic. All of this related to her diabetes and not taking care of her feet – coupled with being a work-a-holic. So—take care of you!

As I was putting DH's RX for his BP away, I was looking at the receipt & it appears the Pharmacy didn't bill his insurance as it was slightly higher than it should be. So now I'm wondering if that was the case with my insulin & needles. I'm going to put a call into the Pharmacy this morning to see if that is why it was so expensive. Maybe that was the problem & it's really not going to be that high, it's worth a phonecall.
I have a dr's appointment later this afternoon to have routine check of my feet, nothing serious, just like to make sure my feet are healthy, don't want to take them for granted as I rely on them so much. LOL
The 1st day of Spring has arrived & we have a Sunny forecast with a temp of 68. Happy girl!!!

Jules you are doing great, obviously better than I am. I need to get the fitness plan moving, just finding time to fit it in is the real challenge. I drag out of bed every morning @ 5 --I've even tried getting up @ 430 but that doesn't last more than a couple of days, besides that cuts into my 7 hours of sleep.

I had a good day at work, no insanely busy like the past weed has been. DH got home late though, so I fixed chicken & rice & will have some applesauce to go with it. Went to pickup my insulin & needles at pharmacy, but left them. $100 after insurance, just can't do that with the budget,. It's insane, I'm paying $400 more per month for insurance & now can't afford some of my meds. Not a happy girl.

About Week #3 Article

Upper body – I have been getting better in this area – recently upping my weights from 2# to 5#. Here is what I do (used to be twice a week now it is three times a week):
• Alternating Dumbbell Biceps Curls
• Dumbbell Wrist Curls
• Dead Lifts with Dumbbells
• Dumbbell Hammer Curls
• Dumbbell Lateral Raises
• Dumbbell Squats
• Dead Lifts with Dumbbells

Core – I am not so good at this. In fact…..I suck at it. I really wish I had a fitness ball. But they are a bit spendy for a single purchase. Here is what I manage to do (still 3 times a week):

• Crunches

Lower body – Well, I am better at lower body than I am at Core – but not as good as I am at Upper body. Here is what I do.

• Dumbbell Squats
• Standing Abduction
• Hip Flexor
• Calf Raises with Chair
• Leg Extensions

I don’t do so well at the resting…..I like to just keep going once I get started.
I will have to work on that in the weeks to come.

Boy Donna, I sure know about those long days. Yesterday was one for me as well. And again, the usual household chores are piling up. 2 loads of laundry wait anxiously to be folded while another 2 wait to be washed and dried.

naturally, the blasted ironing pile is growing as well. I know I am whining again... emoticon. I have the best intentions. But frankly after 12 hours of work, coming home to cook dinner - once I sit....it is all over for me.

I have been waking up extra early to get my exercising in and still manage nearly 7 hours of sleep...when I can get to sleep. So over all, as much as I'd like to....I really cannot complain.

After 2 days working late til 7, I think I'm finally caught up enough I can work just my usual hours 730-430 today. This makes me a happy girl as I have so much I need to do at home but by the time I was getting home I only had enough time for a bite to eat & about 30 minutes of tv time before heading to bed. Blood sugar still cooperating, being so stubborn!

Jules, hooray for a pain free day & getting back to your piles. Glad the employees are getting trained, sure takes a lot off of you & DH I'm sure

Just getting in for the night, ended up working 12 hours today, I'm so far behind in my work load. All it takes is for one coworker to be out 1 day & it throws me behind since I have to do her work that day instead of mine. I plan on working over a couple more nights just trying to get caught up with all the quotes & binders that need to be done this week. Washing a load of laundry & then off to bed for some zzzs. Have to get DD to work a few minutes earlier than normal so I can be at the car dealership by 710 in the morning, supposed to get my complimentary oil change & tire rotation as well as the state inspection so I can renew my tags next month.

Donna -

Today is a good day. headache free * body ache free * and the 2 new employees are doing well. And since they are the Truck Driver and Truck helper...my husband gets to do the training. So now, at last I can concentrate on my own work (that has been piling on my desk).

Lots of ministry opportunity though!
