My body pleaded for a day of rest, so no intense workouts today.
Still walking and some basic strength training, and maybe later today a bike ride?

And I really wanted some fried chicken today, so I gave in.
I did remove some of the crust on the chicken and only had a small handful of fries.
Still ... this is a heavy meal and I do not feel like repeating it today, so the rest of the day will be portion and calorie controlled.

Still feeling really good about myself.
And I hope all of you are also having a great day.

That's great to have seen improvements that you are pleased with. Good job.

DD was supposed to be in rehab til Saturday morning & then go to a longer term facility. However she checked herself out Thursday instead. She has found 2 facilities for longer care, one is only 90 days which none of us think is enough for the addiction she's dealing with. The other one is a 2 year program & will help her get a job & a place to stay while she is in recovery & later on Amari would be able to go be with her under supervised car, I think this is a great option. However she has to get her ID replaced since her wallet had been stolen recently, so she can't get in for about 2 weeks.

VBS went well this week, we averaged about 20 kids each session, not bad for a small country church. Even my 1 year GD, Kyleigh participated. The children will put on their commencement program this morning, it will be great seeing what each age group learned in 4 sessions.

The Dr called back, it turns out Kenny is borderline diabetic, I've been suspecting this for quite some time, but I guess he was in denial, he loves his potatoes & twinkies. LOL.

Happy Father's Day to all the Dads in our lives.

Have a great day

Cutting sodas and sweets by itself can already make a huge difference as long as your husband is just borderline diabetic. If he is ready to go further than that, cutting the empty carbs and replacing them with nutrient dense food will do a lot.

Thank you Dixie, hope you have a emoticon weekend.

Well it turns out that DH is borderline diabetic. No meds at this point only needs to change his eating plan, all I can say is easier said than done. emoticon
Heading to our final day of VBS, hope it goes quick, didn't sleep well for past 2 nights, feeling this morning like I've been steam rolled. Well at least the weather is nicer, only supposed to reach low 80s instead of high 90s.

Have an emoticon day.

Thank you Dixie, I've definitely had my share of lemons lately but learning to make lemonade. Lol.

Kenny so hear has mostly good reports from the cardiologist, dermatologist & gastroenterologist. However the blood sugar test was elevated so we are heading back to the Dr this morning for a fasting A1C. Praying for good results today.

emoticon on your 17# loss Dixie. emoticon

Right now I'm focusing on my mental health as I learn to juggle all of these balls being thrown at me.
Monday DH repaired the water damaged bathroom floor and upgraded to a slightly taller toilet to make it easier on me with my weak knee. I love the new tile, it's more of an earthy color scheme.

Yesterday I spent the afternoon with youngest DD helping her get ready to go into rehab. Her drivers license replacement arrived yesterday, perfect timing for ID at the facility. It was a lovely day other than 100 degree weather. I even managed to get my SUV cleaned out and smelling fresh

Now I'm with DH heading to town for checkups with his cardiologist and dermatologist. Somewhere in between we'll grab some breakfast.

Have a great day.

Started 5/13 - 250 lbs
6/1/16 - 240 lbs = 10 lbs lost
6/14/16 - 233 lbs = 17 lbs lost

Did not measure when I started. I was way too embarassed.
I can see and feel that I have lost volume over the past month - especially
around the waist, belly and hips - because my pants are a lot less tight.
I did measure today.

Waist: 41
Hips: 54
Waist-to-hip ratio (WHR): 0.76 = Pear shaped
Below chest: 40
Over the chest: 48

I am in charge of what I want for myself,
for my physical and mental health,
for my body issues and my mobility.
And I know I can do this !

1) My nutrition rate

This is sort off a sore subject for me because I need to lose A LOT of weight in AS SHORT a time as possible. I know, Sparkpeople reinforces here that slow weight loss is bettter than fast weight loss, but for me a lot depends on me losing a minimum weight FAST.
When I first joined I was told by doctors to eat between 750 and 1000 calories a day and to exercise a minimum of 30 mins every day (basic minimum mobility - not jumping or running, but walking and exercising my muscle groups).
When I joined Sparkpeople I was given a nutrition rate between 1200 and 1500 cal/day, which seemed way too much for me. Eventually I did make it to between 1200 and 1350 cal/day.
Now - because of my daily exercise (and not even high beat cardio with jumping etc.) my nutrition level has been increased to 1650 to 2000 cal/day and that is ridiculously high. How am I supposed to lose a lot of weight when I eat more than I burn, even taking my metabolic rate (which I think is almost non-existent judging from my weight issues over the years) into account. I am really worried that what I have lost so far will all come back if I eat that many calories every day unless I increase my workouts to burn more than 2000 cal every day.

2) My exercise: and in my opinion I am doing pretty good ...

--- Average 5/13 through 5/24: 107 mins / 461 cals
--- 5/25 through 5/31: fell off the wagon and took several days to get myself back on track.
--- Average 6/1 through 6/13: 120 mins / 704 cals

That is nowhere near the amount of food cals I am supposed to eat.

3) Positive attitude

--- Now I wake up energized. When I first started. I was more like a zombie until after several cups of coffee.
--- Now I wake up feeling in charge and ready to face the day. Before I wanted to hide from the new day by putting my head under the covers to try and postpone needing to get up.
--- Now I check for positive reinforcement online on a daily basis, I blog and I share posts online in a few groups. That really helps me to get in a 'I can do this' mood.

4) Goals

--- My first goal is to lose the initial 10% of my starting weight. I will be weighing in on Thursday 6/16 and then again on 7/1 (twice a month)
--- My next goal will be 20% of my starting weight (50 lbs)
--- After that, my goals will probably be 10 lbs at a time because by then my weight loss will more than likely start to really slow down.
--- In the end I need to lose a minimum of 40%, hopefully 50% eventually.

5) I can use all the help I can get to keep myself upbeat and positive and in control of my own future, my own life.

My daily mantra:
I am abundant in every aspect of my life
I am happy - I am joyful
I am in excellent health
I am centered and well balanced.
I radiate happy joyful energy

Hi Dixie glad to have you join us.
Amy, Yes, she's back, staying with her sister & helping out with her niece & nephew while their mom is at work. We are searching for a rehab place for young females that will take the State Medicaid, not luck yet.
That's a peaceful feeling I'm sure to know your son is in a good place, it will make your trip a bit more pleasureable I'm sure.
I hope you can get a bit of pain relief to help you deal with the pain & inflammation. Hopefully surgery won't be required.

I decided to take this week off from work, I think I really need a mental vacay. We aren't going anywhere, just hanging around the house. Tomorrow we plan to replace the bathroom floor which is getting soft in places. Then Wed & Thurs is Drs day for DH. Other than that will do some local sightseeing/photo shoots. WIth all the issues in our family concerning DD, my diabetes not behaving & drama at the office amongst jealous coworkers, I figured I needed some time away to keep my sanity.

Heading to church now, it's nice knowing that tonight I don't have to worry about hurrying to bed after we get home from church. LOL

Glad you could join us, Dixie! That's great that you are in a positive mood and feeling energetic! Playing with my dogs always lifts my spirit as well!

Donna, I sure hope that your DD is back home now and taking the steps to get the help she needs. I'm glad your other daughter was able to help her. Any word yet about what will happen to Amari? Have you been able to see her lately?
I'm sorry to hear that your A1C and blood sugar was so high, but glad that the insulin did the job and helped to lower the BS. I hope the sweats and upset stomach subside in time.
I hope you had a good week at work and have something fun planned for this weekend!

The orthopedic doctor would not give me a cortisone shot until I had an MRI to see if I have a tear and how big it is. I think he said if it's over a centimeter, then he would recommend I have surgery, since it will not get better. The problem is that I had the MRI yesterday afternoon and the results will not be in until Monday, and Sunday we are heading north in our RV to visit my parents in PA for two and a half weeks. So, I will have to deal with the pain until we get back, which will have to be after the Fourth of July holiday. In the meantime he gave me some PT shoulder exercises to do.
Today and tomorrow we are packing up the RV for our trip. We will get to PA next Tuesday and will stay with friends for four nights until we can get into a campground next Saturday. I am anxious to see my parents - I've really missed them! I pray that my sister and I will get along while I am visiting.
DS came over today for us to say goodbye to him till we come back. I feel good about where he is right now. He is two months sober as of today, and he has a whole network of guys now to call if he has urges to drink. His next step is getting a job.

Well, that's all I can think of to say today. I'm trying my best to not eat after dinner - so far so good tonight!

Amy, I'm praying for answers and resolutions at your doctor's appointment regarding your shouler pain. I agree getting old is definitely not for sissies I'm learning that more and more especially in the past couple years seems like everyday it's some new pain, some new issue to deal with.

I finally have a few minutes I can pop in with an update on what's going on. We got a call about 1 o'clock Saturday morning that DD was ready to come home, she was running from someone that have been trying to rob her is the story I'm getting. Her sister was able to get to her and get her back to her house safely and supposedly she is going to take the steps that she needs today to see about getting some help for her drug issues, and maybe once she gets through that then maybe we'll know what's going to happen with Amari because right now it's just been up in the air since DD hasn't been in contact with the caseworker since all this started.
I went for my 3-month diabetic check last week and the day after I was expecting my nurse to call me with my results like she normally does. But then just before lunch she never called and I answered the phone recognizing it was my doctor's office phone number but it was actually the doctor calling to talk to me. My A1C has risen yet again now it's up to 8.6 , she says there's really no other alternative but to go on insulin at least for the big meals she said if I'm going to have a big meal then I need to take 5 units prior to my meal to see if that will help. She said my sugar average apparently is staying up around the low 200s and she wants it down below 150. So I've been taking the insulin since Friday night only with my big meals and I'm seeing a difference although it does make me really sick on my stomach and I get really bad sweats about an hour after I take it but once that subsides I do ok. This morning my sugar was 159 the lowest reading that I've had in quite some time hopefully we're back on track to getting the sugars under control.I'll go back in September to have a new A1C check hope to see a big improvement with that test hope everyone has a wonderful day make it a productive and positive week. emoticon

Hi, Donna, Saw that you are going to go to the doctor's to check to see how your new diabetes meds have worked out. I sure hope your A1C has lowered. Glad it is a short work week for you!
i'm sure it's hard to share your kids with the in-laws on holidays sometimes. Since we moved away from our family, our holiday time has totally changed. Time to make new memories, I guess!

I have an appointment next Monday at an orthopedic doctor to find out what i can do about my shoulder. I had X-rays done and besides arthritis, I apparently have some bone spurs. Not sure if I have any torn ligaments as well. I am hoping that PT exercises and/or a cortisone shot can help with the pain, and I don't have to have surgery. It seems to be getting worse each week though! It's hard not to do things with your right shoulder and arm.

Getting old is not for sissies! LOL

Amy, I miss being on the BSG challenge as well, it's just with my hectic life right now I don't have much SP time.
Sounds like a great weekend, that's great how Dave got such a deal on the meal through groupon, I need to look into that.
Dinner was good, although I miss our traditional family cookout. One of our kids was visiting in laws with his family so we ended up not having a cookout since we had hoped to let that son host the cookout instead.
Resting now and watching some TV before going to bed, I sure am not ready to return to work tomorrow. Lol.

Hi, Donna! emoticon on the BSG, but I understand how busy you are with work. I hope to remember to write a post here in the chatroom more often.
I'm so glad that you got a chance to spend the day with Amari yesterday. I'm sure you cherish the times with her, especially the cuddling in your lap!
I bet it was nice weather this weekend to go to the beach. Wow, 60+ hours since April sure is grueling for you - is there any chance that it will let up? Sorry to hear that Kenny's job has him working so hard, too. Hope you have a nice day today with dinner out and visiting the memorial/park on the river, and that you both were able to relax and enjoy time together.
How is your dad doing? Hope he is better since he's been home from the hospital and getting the change in meds.

We had a nice Memorial Day weekend, a combination of routine activities, a fun day and a rest day. Saturday and today, Dave and I took our 3 mile walk. We go at 6:30 or 7AM to beat the heat, although it is more humid early in the day, and we come back with our shirts soaked! On Saturday we played our normal couples golf- nine holes so it was about two hours, starting just before noon.. It actually wasn't as hot as I expected it would be, because there was a nice breeze. Afterwards Dave and I went to a gourmet burger place for lunch. I was disappointed that they changed their menu and didn't have my favorite turkey burger anymore. Instead I had a regular burger (which was very good) with mushrooms. Dave had bought a Groupon coupon for $8 and we got $16 off the bill - a great deal!

Yesterday was our fun day! We took a trip to a quaint town called Mt. Dora about 45 minutes away. We went on a 2 hour catboat tour of the lake and canal. It was so much fun! Our tour started at 10 AM, so it was the perfect time to be on the water before it got too hot. Afterwards we went out to lunch and walked the streets, going into the cute shops.
Today we decided to just take it easy at home. Monday is usually my Game Day of Samba in the afternoon and Mah Jongg at night, but Mah Jongg was cancelled due to the holiday and the other ladies went and played Samba, but I took a break from it. I did all my laundry, read and listened to inspirational YouTube videos, and now have sparking to do, which includes writing two blogs. We just had a delicious, healthy dinner of rotisserie chicken on the grill, couscous, and fresh steamed green beans and snap peas.

Have a wonderful week ahead!

Hi all, just popping by now that I have a few minutes. My goodness I've missed alot from all the posts, I've read them all but just not enough time to comment on all of them.
I picked up Amari yesterday so we can spend the day with her. We had a wonderful time, she even curled up in my lap in the recliner and went right to sleep, it was like old times when I'd get up with her in the middle of the night and cuddle with her.
Kenny & I have went to the beach a couple of times over the long weekend but try to get back early enough for him to nap before supper. His job is working him so hard he just doesn't seem to get enough rest. Yes been working 60+ hours a week since end of April, this will continue for at least another month.
We went go to OUTBACK for supper, I have a gift card a friend gave us for our anniversary in April, seems like a good time to enjoy a dinner out. Afterwards, we will try to ride over to the park by the USS North Carolina Battleship Memorial, it's one of my favorite places to relax down by the river.
Hope everyone is having a safe and fun holiday weekend.

Daddy is being released to go home, no medical issues found except some of his medications were at too high of a dosage. The Dr has adjusted the dosage on some of them, including his BP med. I'm so thankful there was no heart issue like the Dr first suspected.
Didn't get to see my sweet Mari today, the foster mom was out of town for the day. I sure miss this precious one, haven't seen her in 3 weeks, due to either sickness or having scheduling conflicts between myself & the foster mom.
I finally made it to the grocery store, needed some fresh fruits & veggies for the week as I'm trying to get back into my healthy eating track, been off for a couple of months now.

Hope everyone has a pleasant evening.

Jennifer, I'm always learning too, so that's a good thing, right?? Keeps the brain in good working order as we continue to exercise it. I hope you had a good week & weekend.

I'm still struggling with headaches, almost daily, some are more intense than others. I just deal with them the best I can. Amari is doing well, I have to take her for her 9 month old check up Tuesday & need to get her missed immunizations. I found out the last time she went to the DR was when I took her for her 4 month visit, apparently her mom kept cancelling all her appointments. Still no word from DD, I just keep praying for her safety wherever she is & that she will open her eyes to the lifestyle she's in & realize she must make a change.
Daddy is back in the hospital. He is having muscle weakness & falling again. The DR though Congestive Heart Failure but tests say different. Now we are awaiting a heart scan test result to make sure the heart overall is in good health for his age, he just turned 75 last Sunday.
After church I plan to go visit with Amari & then go get a few groceries before heading back for our evening service.

I hope you all have a fabulous day.

Amy, I hope you are feeling better with each that, UTIs are like some cruel joke it seems.

Welcome Invincible, hope things are going well for you.

Jennifer, I love your positivity and enthusiasm. Enjoy the time with your Dd, to media precious.

I slept a little better but woke up with my head feeling like it was in a vise grip. emoticon My oldest daughter dropped her 3 kids off this morning on her way to work. We are taking them to church with us & their dad will pick them up afterwards.
I have a beef roast with new potatoes and onions in the cockpit, have my Butterbeans cooked & will slice up some fresh cucumbers and a tomato for lunch.
After lunch I'm going to visit my parents, today is Daddy's 75th birthday. It's a blessing to still have him in my life.
Hope you all have a great day.

I am excited! My DD will be coming home today- earlier than expected! She went to Montreal with her Meme and Betty to Play in the Hockey Tournament! YAY!!

I will be going on a early morning walk with my mom for 2 miles today also! Yesterday's walk with her went well!

That's about all the news I have for the rest of this weekend! Monday's right around the bend! For those of us who have lost the way, we can get back on track by making a few small changes! Let's do this!

Welcome, Invincible and Jen- so glad to see you participating here!

I went to the doctor yesterday to get antibiotics for a UTI. Today I am starting to feel better. I took a break from formal exercise the past two days and stayed home to rest last night and tonight. Today I did go play golf though, and felt pretty good, despite the heat. I also went to the dermatologist and had my annual skin check. It's always a relief to know everything looks okay, especially since we live in Florida now, and i have fair skin and freckles.

Jen, that's great that you want to join the BSG challenge in June! I will be there, and hope we are on the same team. I love the state of Vermont and all New England states. I hope you enjoyed the warm weather today and had a good weigh-in. Sounds like you are very motivated to eat healthy and get the fitness in!

Donna, yes praying is all you can do at this point. i don't like that you are waking up with panic attacks! I will say a prayer for you having more peaceful nights. I hope you will have an enjoyable upcoming weekend and can take some time for yourself.

Invincible Me - so glad to see you participating in the Fun and Games thread! Love your screen name! Can we call you by your real name?

Hello Everyone!

Things are going well for me! Weigh-in tonight at our Local Tops meeting! I just can't wait to see what the scale says to me about all of the hard work I have been putting into my new healthy habits!

I got up early. I had an oatmeal for breakfast, now I feel like a snack, so Yogurt and an apple cut up and mixed up in the Vanilla Yogurt sounds great!

I have yet to get in my exercise for the day. I'm a tad slow in that department! LOL. In Vermont- we will be reaching an all time high (for the season) of 80 degrees! WOOHOO! I'm excited.Sounds like a great day to walk OUTSIDE... I have already brought the dog out for his walk around the block- so now I guess it's my turn! Will talk to you all in the Chat room later! emoticon Jennifer

Hi Jen, welcome ---I hope to be back on the BSG next month as well, maybe we will be on a team together, it's a great way to get to know your teammates.

Invincible-ME, great sparkname, I love it, very motivating.

Amy, sounds like a nice Mother's Day. Just being together makes it's the best day, right??
I only got a gift from my DH, but that's ok, I just pray that someday my daughter will turn her life around, but first she must realize that she needs treatment, all I can do at this point is pray, it's out of my hands.

I'm purring right along....I say that because my sleep seems to be only catnaps lately. Nothing like waking up in the middle of the night from panic attacks & unable to go back to sleep. Oh well, I take what I can & life goes on. emoticon

Hi Team!

My computer is working hard right now- So I'm going to make it short!

I have been having a great week. I'm learning how to eat. Not that- but how MUCH to eat. If I eat too less- it throws me off. So I overate last night on Shepard's Pie. And I think it was because during this week I was eating next to nothing. Anyway.

I went to our State Ceremony for our Tops of Vermont. It was awesome. I really took it all in- and am so inspired.

I can't wait to join next Month's challenge in June. I'm IN.... Talk to you all later! JEN

Hi, Donna! So glad you checked in here! I miss you not being in the BSG challenge. We really should use this chat room more often though, so maybe others will also drop in once in a while.

I'm glad you had a nice weekend with your oldest DD treating you to a supper out, visiting yours and DH's mom and going out to dinner with DH.
I'm so very sorry you are going through this continuing heartache with your youngest DD. You are absolutely right that tough love is TOUGH and very hard to do. I will pray that she can get the help she needs by first realizing and wanting help, and I will also pray for you and your family dealing with the tension and stress, and for innocent Amari, who I hope is doing well in her foster care. Big hugs to you, my friend!

My Mother's Day was nice - I spent it with Dave and Sean. Sean is now living in a healthy sober living home about 30 minutes away. He lives in an apartment with two other young men and there are three other apartments in the home. He goes to daily meetings and he seems to be making progress there. So we picked Sean up and brought him to our house, since he doesn't have his car yet. Dave made breakfast and dinner for us here, and we picked something up for lunch after going on a lovely hike at a nature preserve in the early afternoon. I didn't receive any cards or gifts, but that was okay with me. I called my mom and sent her a card with a prayer to read every night before bed, and a basket of violets, which she said she loved! I miss her, being so far away from her and my dad. How are your parents doing?

I wish you a good week - I hope work is not as hectic/stressful as it had been. Take care and let's keep in contact regularly here.

Wanted to stop by & check in, I sure missing being on the BSG Team this month, hope to be back soon.

Hi ladies, I hope you all had relaxing Mother's Days. I had a nice weekend. I spent Saturday afternoon my oldest DD, she treated me to supper @ J Michaels, we both had the Philly Cheese steaks subs, I added bell peppers, banana peppers & mushrooms served with cheesey fries. Sunday DH & I made the after church rounds to visit both of our moms, they both are doing well. Then he treated me to dinner at OUTBACK. I had my usual --- prime rib with a lobster tail, salad & baked potato. It was heavenly. emoticon
Things are still pretty tense around our home, youngest DD still not talking to me ---except when she needs $$$$$, she called me yesterday, 1st time I've heard from her in over a week wanting me to pay a debt for her. I told her I would not ---this tough love thing is just that TOUGH, but it's what I have to do at this point, you would think after 10 years of making wrong mistakes she'd learn, not holding my breath. Her infant daughter is still in FOSTER CARE since DD refuses to stay out of trouble & won't cooperate with CPS. From what I'm hearing from the Foster Mom, DD never calls to check her daughter, how sad that the wildlife is more important that a precious baby.

Hope your BS is going down, Donna! Enjoy your weekend of high temps!
I'm having a lazy day, taking a break from exercise today. I'm in the middle of reading a good book and babying my dog, Max who is injured and can't walk on his hind leg.

Ugggh. BS# is elevated again. Not sure why, I had a 1/2 banana sandwich with 1 small banana for lunch and celery with low-fat cream cheese. Maybe the banana was too much??? Oh well to days a new day. I had steel cut oatmeal with sliced strawberries & bacon. Lets see how my #s are later, getting burned out with eggs for breakfast.
It's supposed to be near 80 today, too bad I'll be stuck in this office all day.

Hi welcome Mimi, glad to have you join us.

Amanda, praying for your family during your grieving time.

Sorry I've not been able to chat much, life is so busy. Seems when I can get a few moments to drop by is when my internet wants to act weird.
My goal this week is to continue my focus on 5-6 servings of freggies daily.
Yesterday I had green grapes, orange, sweet potato, lettuce, celery, cukes, tomatoes.

I got dressed & into town earlier so I could meet one of my coworkers for breakfast. Its a great start to the day. They are forecasting some intense thunderstorms, possible tornados & rain. Praying everyone is safe.

Amanda, I'm so sorry for the loss of your dear grandmother. You & your family are in my thoughts & prayers.

Slept kind of hard as I'm having a hard time finding my mojo, how nice if today had of been Saturday so I could have snoozed a couple more hours BS still running high, was 199 this morning. I'm still guzzling the water daily, trying to drink more than usual 8 cups as the DR says water will help with the BS#s.I have a busy day today, so much to do to get things finalized before tomorrow, I don't like leaving unfinished projects for the weekend.
Have a great day ladies.

Hi All,

This weekend has been extremely hard, and I won't have time or energy right now to say much, I just wanted to make you all aware, that my grandmother passed away yesterday. I am making plans to head home and I'm not sure how much I will get on here until I get back to my daily life. I will try but I am not expecting to get on SP too much.

Please keep us in your thoughts, my daughter is struggling to understand it all.

Thanks
Amanda

I'm sorry about the issue with the friends mother, sounds like a simple miscommunication to let you know what her intent was. Hopefully she will soon be over this & it won't have an effect on the girls' relationships.

I had PT yesterday, new excercises were added which really seem to work the knee muscles as I'm feeling it this morning. We are expecting a nice warm up to 60 today but the rain is coming in right about evening rush hour. Oh joy, commuting home should be interesting. LOL.
Have a great day.

That's great that your body is getting adjusted to the meds, hope your labs will come back with good reports. Way to go on staying active. Dinner sounds delish. emoticon

I slept a little better last night, but still some a few times and struggled to return to sleepyland. But I dontfeel exhausted like I did last week. Of course having my BS under 200 this morning is a positive. I've really been trying to eat better this year, so far I'm hanging in there.
Have a great day.

Cathy, wow, 99 years, that's a milestone for sure. Enjoy all the special times with him

Yesterday was a day I would like to put in The Forgotten days novel. The day did not start out very well I am still dealing with this cold that seems to be getting worse by the day. And as I was arriving for my PT I get a call that my baby girl and her boyfriend had been in a head on collision apparently a lady turned in front of them and my daughters car is totaled. They have some tissue injuries nothing broken thank goodness and there was actually a third car that also got hit, it could have been a lot worse but getting that call at 7:15 in the morning was not the way I wanted to start my day. I'm thankful that my granddaughter Amari was not in the car she actually was at the sitters as my daughter was on her way to take her boyfriend to work. I did get through my PT , got a lot of stress at work going on just doesn't seem to lighten up . Then finding out that my 4 year old grandson Levi had an accident at school where to the ER ended up breaking his nose and he had to have sutures to close up of a head wound in his head, and to top it off I had a severe asthma attack at work. So I'm going to be taking the weekend to kind of rest up. I just won't be turning in any of mypoints I just have not had time this week with everything. This morning I feel like I'm the train wreck, feel like I've been run over by a train multiple times I'm just hurting all over and I'm sure it's stress related and also the cold just will not let go.
Have a great day.

I hope all of you had a good day today.

My grandpa turned 99 yesterday!! I'm so thankful he is still alive but I can tell the years are really starting to take a toll on him. He's still doing pretty good for being 99 though!

I slept okay last night but could have slept better. I woke up with my back hurting this morning. I think I'll try to do some stretching before going to bed in hopes that will help me to rest better. I did some stretching before and after breakfast which helped with the pain.

Had to run into town to go the bank today and picked up a few groceries at the store. Wouldn't you know that I forgot my list at home. I forgot a couple of things so I'll have to go back into town tomorrow to get them.

Lisa - I will try to read your blog tomorrow. I'm glad to hear that you did pretty well last year though.

Amy - It hasn't been that good the last 2 nights. I woke up with a headache yesterday morning. Yes, it is scary when you get a call that early in the morning. I too am glad it wasn't bad news. No, I only got 1 piece of software on my new computer. Just haven't had the time the last couple of days to do much. Glad I inspired you to do a Leslie Sansone video. I don't like walking outside when it's cold and windy either. Sorry to hear about your UTI. I hate UTI's! Your night golf with 40 other people from your neighborhood sounds like fun. I hope you finally were able to get warm.

Donna - Yes, it is crazy how it and other health conditions fee off of each other. I imagine it's a tricky balance with your BS levels and sleep. I can see how lack of sleep would increase it. You really should get some Melatonin. We have some by Vitafusion that are gummy's and they work REALLY well. Sorry to hear you are coming down with a cold. Don't you hate it when you need a medicine and the doctor is out and you can't get a refill? I know it's really frustrating to me. Wow, 27 at night is pretty cold. I'm with you on anything below 45 being too cold. LOL

Amy, sounds like you & Dave have the new year started out great with exercise in mind. Keep up the great work.

Cathy, yes sleep is vital to overall well being. It's crazy how it & other health conditions feed off of each other, for instance with my diabetes, lack of sleep increased BS but also high BS prevents a restful night, boy I need to figure out how to make sleep & BS become friends who play well together. LOL.

LIsa It's good to hear from you.

I didn't get by her yesterday, was a busy day & coming down with a cold doesn't make it any better. I had PT first thing in the morning, then work all day & finally got to bed after supper, I think about 9, of course the cold medicine I'm taking knocked me out within just a few minutes. Unfortunately it's a 4 hour medicine so I was wide awake @ 2. Got up to check my BS which was high --probably from cold + cold Medicine + the fact I'd been out of one of my diabetes meds for a week, finally got it filled by pharmacy yesterday, they were waiting on a refill approval from my Dr who had been out for the holidays.
It's been too cold for me this week, temps at night about 27 & only warming to mid 30s, I want my summertime temps back, Anything below 45 is just too cold for me. LOL.

Lisa/Kitten, great to hear from you! I will definitely check out your blog. I keep saying I have to write mine, but I haven't been in a writing mood yet this week.

Cathy, glad your sleep continues to be good. Wow, that is an early morning call your FIL made to tell you he was going to Colorado. It's scary when the phone rings at that time. Glad it wasn't bad news! Did you get all the software on your computer today? You dong exercise videos inspired me to do one today - I did a Leslie Sansone Walk/Jog while Dave walked outside. I was going to go out with him, but it was windy and chilly today, plus I was waiting for a call from the doctor for an appointment. I ended up going in this afternoon for a urine test. I have a UTI, so had to get a prescription for antibiotics. I want to do some yoga, too, so I will do one of those next, on the days I don't go to the gym.

Well, I have a few things more to do on the computer and then I'm heading to bed. Tonight we went to play night golf with 40 people in our neighborhood. It was weird but really fun. We had glow in the dark golf balls and a glow necklace. There were glowsticks at the tees and in the holes and on the flags, but you also had to use flashlights. It was pretty chilly and at the last two holes it started to drizzle. I still haven't warmed up after being home for about a half hour. I still have my jacket on!

I had another good night's sleep last night even though my FIL called around 4 or so this morning to let us know he was leaving to for Colorado. We knew he was going out to Colorado because he has an appointment to see the doctor who did his cataract surgery last year. I'm glad he let us know he was leaving but I wish he would have let us know last night before he went to bed rather than in the middle of the night. lol

I finally got my new computer formatted and partitioned into several hard drives last night. Now I need to get all of the software I need/want on it. So that's on my agenda for today.

I did Jessica Smith's Cardio Ball Ballet and a Flat Belly Barre Abs Routine by Jessica Smith. Had to run into town to pick up a few things too.

Donna - Getting a good night's sleep after not having a day or so of not sure does make a big difference. You are right, it does make for a brighter day afterwards. It's good that you are ready to get track and start taking care of you. Glad to hear you are ready to make this your year of success! I'll be cheering you on!

Amy - I am hoping that some new members or those who aren't doing the BSG challenges this month will stop in here to chat. I too look forward to a new year and what seems to be a fresh start to focus on getting healthier. I am not making any resolutions this year either. I'm just focusing on what I want to achieve this year and then breaking it down month by month. I'm hoping to get to my blogs in the next couple of days. Great job on your walking! Hope you had a good time with your friends from PA. I'm in the same boat with you with going to the bathroom several times in the night and thankfully have been able to get back to sleep fairly easily. Will you always have to take those tablets for low calcium? The Flow Yoga video I did was by Jessica Smith. It's a 30-minute yoga-inspired flowing set of moves designed to help build strength, balance and flexibility while burning calories and relieving stress. I plan on doing yoga or stretching at least 2 days, maybe 3 days a week this month.

Hope both of you had good day today!

Hi, Ladies!

It's good to see some activity in the general chat. Maybe some new members or those who aren't doing BSG this month will join us. I just have to remember to keep checking here!

I always look forward to a new year as it feels like a fresh start to get even healthier. This year I am not making any resolutions like I usually do. Instead I will just stick with my monthly goals that I blog about for the BSG challenge. I do like to look back over the past year and project where I want to be a year from now though. I hope to do those blogs today or tomorrow.

Today was back to a normal routine, thank goodness! I went to the gym, took a 2 mile walk with Dave and now I'm doing some sparking. Having soup for lunch and then cleaning. We will be going out to dinner with our friends from PA who just arrived in their RV today and staying till April in a local campground. We are excited they are here!

Cathy, that's great to hear that you had three nights of good sleep! Mine has been pretty good lately. I have been able to go back to sleep after getting up to use the BR anywhere from 3 to 5. That is weird about your tongue! Mine is tingly right now, so I think my calcium is low again and I am upping the tablets they want me to take since having the parathyroid surgery. What is flow yoga? I will have to check it out on youtube. One of my goals for this month is to add yoga into my exercise each week.

Donna, a good night's sleep sure does make your day better. I hope yours gets better! I am glad you are enthusiastic about the start of this new year! You had a couple challenging months at the end of 2015, and now that is behind you, so it's all positive progress from now on!

Have a marvelous motivated Monday!

I slept really well last night except for a weird pain in my tongue last night in the middle of the night. I wonder if I somehow bit my tongue in the middle of the night? lol It's so nice to get a good night's rest and so far I've had 3 days in a row.

I did a flow yoga video yesterday and today I'll probably do some other yoga video for my exercise.

Hope everyone had a nice holiday season. I did but I'm glad they're over with so I can really focus on me and eliminating the rest of this weight.

Redshoeblue, hope you are able to finish your shopping today & get those gifts wrapped & under the tree, can't believe Christmas is just a few days away.

I finished my shopping yesterday except I need to pick up a couple gift cards & 2 copies of THE WAR ROOM movie to give to MIL & Mom, so I'll stop my Walmart Tuesday when it comes out to get those copies. All gifts are wrapped thus far, DH has been an awesome helper, he's wrapped right along with me the whole time, wrapping as many as I have. He even did some of the actual picking out of gifts & ordered them online as well as helping with in shopping. I sure couldn't have survived this holiday season with him. What a gem he is!
Heading to church now with 3 grands in tow since their parents are working today. We'll drop the off to their dad when he gets off at noon & then head home for some lunch & work on finishing Christmas cards & getting laundry caught up.

Hope you have a great day.

70 degrees sounds fabulous! My Chihuahua would be happy with these temps! She has her own heating blanket for the cold winter days....and our bed for the nights! When summer rolls around, she can't get enough of laying in the sun! She's a great pool buddy! I read in a lounge chair, she sleeps in the same lounge chair! emoticon oh wait....it's December, Christmas, it's time to focus on holiday things! emoticon I am doing my last Christmas shopping tomorrow. All my wrapping Monday and Tuesday, as I haven't even begun that, and I am cleaning the house today! Whew! Have a fantastic weekend all! I have to quit chatting about my plans here and start doing something! emoticon

Thanks for joining in on the chat REDSHOEBLUE. Looking forward to getting to know you & helping support your goals.

It's really hard to believe it's just over a week left til Christmas. You'd never think so with our 70+ degree days. Of course we are supposed to have a slight cool down to the 50s by the weekend.
I had therapy yesterday, each time I see a steady improvement, I'll be glad when I'm finally back to normal or at least "pre-accident condition".
I'm taking Thursday off to do some final shopping with my oldest DD. I have therapy first thing in the morning & then late tomorrow evening is my annual dermatology check, so we will have a full day tomorrow.

Have an awesome day

LIsa, how was the therapy appointment, hope it went well with positive results.

We got about 1/2 of our shopping done Saturday, I need to get the rest done this weekend if possible. I sure don't want to have any shopping to do the last week of Christmas, it's already crazy enough out there now. LOL

Oh Donna those accedents sound horrible. I am not much on traveling when the weather is not cooperative. Even growing up in WI I still dislike getting out in cold/freezing rain or snow. Especially here in TX they really don't know how to drive in that type of mess, even though I do trust my DH but have trouble with other drivers...lol. So this time of year I usually just stay home. I am glad that you were safe. Hope your breakfast with hubby was wonderful. Did you get some shopping done?

Been relaxing this last weekend except for going out one night to get all our kids Christmas shopping done. I still havent decorated, think we will do that this weekend. I have therapy tomorrow, same day as my mothers Birthday, not a good day in my book already.

Hope all have a wonderful safe Monday.

Lisa,I'm glad your meds are working & helping with your anxiety. Good that the kids are getting prepared, I know mine are getting excited.

The commute to work was so easy for me but that all changed in a matter of 30 minutes. Then there was a collision between 2 tractor trailers, then at the heavy traffic area there was a 5 car collision. Then about 2 hours later there was an accident involving another tractor trailer, sadly that driver died, he was unable to get out of his truck before it burst in flames. Such a tragic ending, I'm glad we were traveling after all the wrecks on the roads yesterday.

Heading out to breakfast now with DH , then will try to do some Christmas shopping, depends on how long the leg holds up.

Have a fabulous day.

I am so sorry that you won't be going to your husbands Christmas party but that does seem a long way to go. I bet it was wonderful to get to work so easily. Hope you have a beautiful day

DH also believes its a scam and I am feeling better about that issue but it seems to have tapped on my anxiety/panic again. I am taking some of my previous anxiety meds which seems to be helping. I think the kids and I are both ready for Christmas break, Thanksgiving break wasn't long enough to rejuvenate...lol. We are pushing on through and pushing to keep grades up at least to passing. DD is still struggling to get caught up with French so I think she will be working during the holiday.

Hope all are having a wonderful, blessed day.

Lisa, what a rude person. Just be careful, there are many scams out there & they often pose as bill collectors trying to catch you with your guard down. Hope today is better for you.

Today is a much better day than yesterday. I actually slept so hard last night I was dragging getting out of the house on time. But thank goodness traffic was breeze, it was almost like everyone had vanished. LOL. Got to work in 35 minutes instead of an 1 hour. emoticon We were supposed to be attending Dh's company Christmas party tonight. But because of the issues with my leg & it being a 2.5 hour drive there & back, we opted to not attend. Bummer, I had been so looking forward to going & getting to meet his coworkers & spouses. Oh well, maybe we can just have a quiet, relaxing evening at home, that would be nice.

Have a wonderful day!

Since I am planning on not doing the December BSG challenge I think I would like to stop in here every once in a while. It's been a hard two weeks with first the internet going out then ice storm that took out our power and with my DH and DS with a cold that I am not trying to catch but seem to be anyway then stressful situations just being laid on me yesterday sent me into a tail spin. I got a phone call yesterday from a lady that started out my telling me that I had a lawsuit against me for some payday loans that I never paid and threatened to put me in jail. Now first of all the last payday loan I ever took out was in 2007 and paid ALL of them off by the end of 2010. She just kept shouting at me and threatening me it sent me into an anxiety panic attack and of course made me cry. I finally was able to say to her that I was giving the phone to my DH and he had permission to talk about this with him. He spent the next 35 min trying to get a word in edgewise between threats and them calling me a fraud and that I meant not to pay them and closed the bank account which is not closed because that is where all our direct deposits go into and is just easier to keep that account open. It took my DH and internet searching to finally get me to calm down enough to know that I will not be arrested and sent to jail the most they can do is civil court but DH thinks that it will never happen. So now today of course my fibro is acting up so bad I can barely move. I was having such a wonderful day out spending time with my DH us just having a loving husband/wife time and this just ruined it.

Thanks for listening, just feel so I guess I would say helpless and depression is trying to settle in hard. I need to work extra hard to keep my spirits up.

Cathy, because of the vast # in our family, our budget for each one is not that big, its just buying so many gifts, there are 25 in our family counting Kenny & I. I was hoping to have done most of the online shopping while I was home after surgery, but the internet wouldn't cooperate. LOL.

I had a good report at the post op appointment. Dr says there is no signs of arthritis in the knee, he removed the tear & cleaned up the inflammation in the tissue. It will take about another week for the swelling to go down but in the meantime I have to check into setting up Physical Therapy, I need to see how my insurance will cover this & how much will be my cost. Also I need to get the final documents from my lienholder regarding the total loss check they received from my Auto Insurance Carrier. I'm waiting on the final payoff to send in with my GAP claim so I can get that closed out & then focus on getting my knee well.

I'm back at work, & dealing with swelling in the knee since I'm not able to prop my leg as much. I'll be glad to get past this knee injury so I can restart my life again, so many things I'm missing out on.

Hope you have a good day.

It's been a long day today. I got up early 'cause I couldn't sleep then I took a nap after breakfast. I got up and exercised then went into town to get groceries. Came back talked to my sister, BIL and nephew for a bit. Then made lunch and cleaned up the kitchen afterwards.

Donna - Your breakfast yesterday morning sounds heavenly! How many do you have to buy for for Christmas? How is your knee doing? When will you be able to walk on it? Your dinner sounds nice and simple. Can't get much better than that. Hope you ceremony at church was nice.

Yesterday, we did go out for breakfast. Oh what a treat, the diner had a pancake special with oatmeal pancakes topped with vanilla & strawberry yogurt & then topped with sliced strawberries, blueberries & blackberry puree. Oh my goodness, that was so good I didn't even use syrup, completed with bacon strips.
Afterwards we went to the Camera store & I purchased a 50mm lens for DH's birthday, a little late since it was last Monday. Then we did a little Christmas shopping at Lowes, one of our sons & one son in law are getting tools for Christmas, found some good deals. Got our oldest son & his wife a Keurig for Christmas. I need to order some things online but the internet service at home hasn't been all that great.
For supper we stayed home so I could rest my knee & ice it, Kenny grilled steaks with baked potato & salads for supper, oh my, perfect meal.
Tonight we are having our Hanging of the Greens service, so I need to pick up some stuff to carry for refreshments. I know I'll be taking my Hot Pepper Jelly-Shrimp dip with crackers, not sure what else, just need it to be something simple that requires minimal standing for preparation.

Well off to church now, have a great day.

Kenny has been taking care of keeping the house tidy & laundry done since my surgery.. He's also been taking care of meals & dishes.

Today Kenny put up the Christmas tree & got the lights strung on it. So while he was cooking supper I hung the ornaments since that was something I could do without straining my leg. So far no pain or discomfort since then. Tomorrow, we plan to go for our weekly breakfast date & then then will spend the remainder of the day at home, He plans to grill steaks & potatoes for our supper tomorrow. Cant wait as this will be the first time in several months that we've grilled out at home.

Watching some tv now till bedtime. Hope everyone has a great evening.

Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy family time & good eating in moderation. My oldest DD is here cooking the pies & preparing the sweet potato casserole. I'm excited to be able to share some family time with all of our family today, even my parents & MIL are planning to come. It's a beautiful day, so we are planning to eat outside @ 4, will make it easier than trying to cram 25 people in our dining area.

Since I am the one that normally does the dinner prep, no one else knows how to cook the dressing, gravy, sweet potato casserole So my oldest DD is coming early in the morning to do the prep, I will be there to tell her how to tell her how to do each, will be good to have someone else know & it will be great bonding time for us.

I'm icing & elevating my leg today, so catching up on spark with my laptop & watching cooking shows, not much else on tv worth watching. LOL.

Cathy emoticon on your 32 day streak. emoticon

Amy, I'll be praying for your surgery on the 30th, look forward to a positive update.

go for my preop with the surgeon tomorrow at 3, then I have to call the hospital outpatient dept at 4 to see what time my surgery is scheduled for Tuesday. I'm a little nervous but ready to get rid of the source of pain.
Tomorrow evening I will make the sweet potato casserole for Thanksgiving & put it in the freezer til DH is ready to cook it Thursday night. I also need to pick up some fresh collards for him to cook. Our oldest son is deep frying a turkey and bringing drinks, our youngest son's wife is making deviled eggs & apple pie, the oldest daughter is bringing a cheesecake pie & grape salad, the middle daughter is bringing Butterbeans & a dessert. So DH will be doing the rest ---- ham, potato salad, corn, pickle tray, sweet potato casserole, dressing & gravy (i will help with dressing and gravy as he's never made those) and of course cranberry sauce. Before Thursday I plan to make a sweet potato pie, mincemeat pie & pecan pie as those are simple & require minimal prep time on my feet.
Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday and I'm going to miss cooking for our crowd, 20 not counting our parents who won't be able to attend so we will take a plate to them afterwards.
On my way to church, have a great day.

Good morning, A&I Friends!

I have to remember to check in here at least once a week to see update news.

Danae, your kids are so cute in their Halloween costumes! I hope you are having a great November!

Donna and Cathy, great to read your posts! I miss you two!

Cathy, way to go on your 32 day streak of exercising! That's fantastic! Sometimes I have to push myself to do it, but I always feel so much better, physically, mentally and emotionally when I do it! I hope you are feeling more upbeat now. I missed a couple days recently and really felt a difference.

Donna, I am glad you have your knee surgery scheduled for next Tuesday. From Dave's troubles with his knees over the years, I can imagine how painful it is for you and not fun to have to use crutches to get around. You must be so frustrated with insurance companies since your accident. Like Cathy said, I'm sorry you have to pay so much deductible for your surgery, and I sure hope the hospital will work with you and not expect a full payment right away. I will be thinking of you and hope all goes well! I know how much you love to cook and will miss out doing that for Thanksgiving dinner this year, but that's wonderful that Kenny and the kids will take over and you can just rest and enjoy being waited on! I look forward to hearing another update after your pre-op and then when you have time after the surgery.
That's such a great story about how well Lindsey has done in school after what the doctor said when she was born relating to the non-functioning thyroid. Thyroid glands really can wreck havoc on the body and brain. I'm glad hers was such a success story. You can't believe everything doctors say, that's for sure!

I am hypothyroid and take medicine for that, but the surgery I am getting is for PARAthyroid glands, which are different. They are small glands behind the regular thyroid glands, and they regulate calcium in your bones and blood. I have a benign tumor on one or two of the four and they have to be removed. They are pulling too much calcium out of my bones. i am getting my surgery an hour away (in Tampa) on November 30th. It should be an easy 20 minute procedure, and I can go home the same day. I am hoping it will help me feel better, since I have a lot of fatigue, depression and body aches/pains that may be caused from this.

I have been doing pretty well otherwise - staying busy here with exercise and retirement fun, and also focusing on my eating through the 100 Days of Weight Loss book. I am not happy about being away from my parents for the holidays though. Holidays are not the same since I moved to Florida. I want to get this surgery out of the way first, then I may consider flying up to PA by myself in December sometime to see them. The problem is where I would stay, what car I would use, etc. and my strained relationship with my sister affects all this, since my parents live with her. I don't like the idea of going myself, but right now, Dave and I don't think we should leave Sean here by himself. He is doing really well, working two jobs with lots of hours, but I still get nervous about him sabotaging his success...we have gone through so much with him!

Have to get ready to go out for my 7 AM walk with my neighbor. Have a wonderful weekend!

Hello everyone, it's been a while since I've been in here. It's good to see an update from you Donna. I'm glad to hear you finally got approval from your insurance for the surgery and that it has been scheduled. I'm sorry to hear though that you're going to have to pay so much for your surgery. I hope you will not have to pay all of it up front. You might ask the hospital if you can set up a way to make payments over the course of several months. Most hospitals are willing to work with you.

That's great that Kenny and the kids will be cooking Thanksgiving this year since you'll still be recuperating from surgery. I know you like cooking for the family but it's great that everyone is willing to pitch in to help and let you have the day off.

Not much going on with me. Same thing just a different day. lol I do have a 32 day streak of exercising for at least 10 minutes going on though.

It rained all day yesterday but the sun is out today. Glad to see the sun out.

Have a great day everyone!

Hi ladies, stopping by with an update, I did hear from the insurance, we have an approval and the surgery is scheduled for Tuesday the 24th, there was just an issue with my deductible since I assumed that all the other expenses I had that at least part of the deductible had applied but actually the only thing that seems have applied was a portion of the MRI that I did so I still have about a $4,000 deductible to meet and the insurance will pick up whatever is rest with their estimate will be about 2000 or $2,500. I talked to the doctors office and they are willing to bill me after the procedure after all the deductibles are applied because they realize that there are still some bills being filed with the insurance company so we don't know for sure how much exactly will be met by the time of surgery arrives. The hospital may be a different story so I guess I'll find out for sure on Monday when I got for pre-op if there's going to be an issue because if I have to come up with $4,000 on the spot then we're just going to have to put the surgery off until sometime next year and the crutches will continue to be my friend.
Kenny and all of our kids are going to be cooking Thanksgiving this year instead of me since I will be still be recuperating from the surgery and will have limited time that I can be up on my feet. I'm going to miss cooking no doubt, because I do enjoy cooking those big family dinners but I have to admit it will be a treat to have everybody pitch in and help out and let me have the day off.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Well I had the MRI done Tuesday & then had my follow up with the ortho today. There is a pretty significant tear in the meniscus that needs to be removed via arthroscopic surgery. So now I have to wait for insurance approval so the appointment can be scheduled. So for now, I'll continue resting when I can never getting far from my crutches.

Danae, those are some adorable little ones, I bet they sure keep you busy & on your toes. What a wonderful age they are, so full of laughter & energy.

Amy, How's the new weight loss program working for you? I hope you are getting some rest & feeling better. My stepdaughter & granddaughter both have problems with Thyroid. Actually when our granddaughter, Lindsey was born 9 years ago, her thyroid was almost nonfunctioning & the Drs told her parents that she would be mentally underdeveloped. Well you'd never know it, she's at the top of her class actually skipped a grade because of her academic abilility.

Since the responsible driver didn't have insurance on her car, I'm filing through my Uninsured Motorists bodily injury coverage. But it doesn't may til all the treatment is done, so I'm using my private medical insurance for now & it will be reimbursed later by the Uninsured Motorists Coverage.
Well finally got the approval from my medical insurance to get the MRI of my knee. I'm scheduled for Tuesday morning @ 7am. Hopefully once it's read I can get some answers about what to do, the pain never goes away, not to mention I am limited on what I can do & have to try to stay off of the leg as much as possible, the swelling gets pretty bad otherwise.
We are heading to church now, 3 of our grandchildren are with us, their mom is a nurse so she dropped them off this morning on her way to work, the oldest one is in the Christmas Play which is being practiced at church this morning. We will drop them off to their dad when he gets off from work at noon.
Tomorrow, I have a 3 month followup with my GP for my diabetes & also checking to see how I'm doing since the accident. Hopefully it will be a positive appointment, I think she may be doing labs as well, I always go fasting just to make sure.

Hope everyone has a great day.

I am looking forward to the rest of the afternoon and evening to rest after being so busy in my retired life recently. LOL It seems I go from one activity to another! Yesterday was non-stop with a walk, class at the gym, cleaning, a digital camera class and dinner out with friends. This morning I did take an hour walk of four miles, vacuumed and steam cleaned the kitchen, and then played nine holes of golf. But now I have planted myself down in the living room intending to spark for awhile, read, watch something on Netflix or Hulu and maybe even take a nap! We are having a healthy dinner at home of salmon and roasted veggies.

Danae, bet your kids looked so cute in their costumes. When you have little ones, you are very busy, so no worries for not having much time to check in.

Donna, hope you are doing well this week!

Hi! Thought I'd stop by for a chat in between BSG challenges. Hope everyone has an awesome November! Can't believe there are only two more months left in the year!

Donna, sure hope that November is a better month for you. I hope your knee heals without having to get surgery and all the insurance claims work out. On a positive side, sounds like you found a great truck for dh and you had a fun Halloween celebration with your family! Did you take a picture of your dgs when he bit into the candied onion - what a trick!

Barbie, I'm so glad you finally got your lawn finished! i have missed chatting with you. Think of you a lot, and especially this month since I know it's when Bill passed away! Sending hugs your way!

Hi, Danae, I don't think I have chatted with you before. Congrats on winning the Halloween decorating contest. Did your little ones go out trick or treating?

I am doing pretty well. Have some depression and fatigue, which in part may be due to enlarged parathyroid. I am in the process of getting surgery scheduled to remove the gland or glands that are causing the problem. But on the whole, I am back to my busy retired life in Florida, getting lots of fitness in again and trying to stick to eating with moderation. I gained a couple pounds the past two weeks, but I am determined to get them off again! I started doing a program called 100 Days of Weight Loss that will keep me focused on my goals.

Have a wonderful week!

We signed off on the insurance claim for the truck Thursday & Monday I have to file the GAP claim to pay off remaining $1800 on the loan.
I'm still dealing with the pain from my knee injury, a torn meniscus. The ortho specialist thinks it is part of the accident but we are awaiting my health insurance company to approve an me I to determine extent of damage. Surgery may have to be done depending on damage.

We've spent the last 2 days trying to get DH another truck. Found a good deal on a 09 Chevrolet Silverado yesterday in my favorite color, red, His payments are lower than last truck so a big woohoo.

Last night we had all the kids and the grandkids over for a little family Halloween fun. We had hot dogs and chips with cupcakes and candied apples. One of our daughter in laws made the apples and for a trick as part of the trick or treat she also threw in some candied onions. What a surprise my 5 year old grandson got when he bit into one. They also roasted marshmallows and told scary stories around a campfire we had in the yard. Everybody had a wonderful time it seems it was good to have the crew together again.

Kenny had some things to do in town this morning so we decided to go ahead with her usual breakfast date. I think after he finishes the errands we're going to run up to visit his mom she lives about 40 miles from our house. We doon't get to see her as much as we would like because everybody just stay so busy. Then later once we get home I'm putting my leg up and not moving from the recliner because the knee is really giving me some pain today.

I had a great weekend. It was good to see Bill's son and DIL. Today we got the lawn seeded and rolled. What a relief to finally be done. Now I just hope it grows.

Danae, your Saturday sounds like my typical one, I have to usually cram all my house chores & shopping in one day. Glad you enjoyed the seminar

Barbie, I'm glad you found someone to watch Marv, hope everything works out good for you.

Yesterday was not a good day, I had wanted to go do some early Christmas shopping but felt horrible with head/neck/back pain, Just didn't feel like doing anything, so we ended up having a Lean Cuisine entre for supper. I went to bed @ 8, slept il 6 this morning, so far feeling a little better this morning. Now heading to church.

Good evening friends. I found an elderly lady to come over and attend to Marv while I am gone next weekend. I am taking a leap of faith that she is trustworthy, but when we met her both Marv and I liked her so that gave me a good feeling. Today was another morning of working at getting the moss out. This afternoon I went to Bob's and we had a relaxing afternoon/evening. Tomorrow if it isn't raining we will probably work some more on the yard and then at 4 we have the birthday party for his twin 4-year old great granddaughters which should be fun.

@ Danae - a day at the park with the kids sounds fun. I miss my grandson being young enough to do that.I hope your cleaning and laundry went well and you had a nice walk at the park and the kids ran off some of their endless energy.

@ Donna - I am glad you are slowly getting back to normal after the wreck and you will soon be off the pain meds altogether.

Dance, how was the walk -- did you end up at the pumpkin patch or the maze. This is such a beautiful time of year. Driver probably will not get much punishment, seems the going way in our county, attorneys usually get DUI charges dismissed, which is why shes a repeat offender.

Barbie, I hope you can find a sitter for Marv next weekend so you can enjoy your trip.

We are still waiting on the word from the insurance company, seems that are still reviewing the estimate to determine if they will pay to repair or total the truck, My Dr's appointment was ok yesterday, my DR was booked, so I had to see her PA, he said it could take a month for me to get over the aches & pains caused by the accident, but to just keep taking the pain meds to take the edge off the pain.

Well got to get my day started, ready to be done with the work week & start the weekend.
Have a great day.

Good afternoon friends. Today I am taking it easy as I have Belly Dance class tonight. I did vacuum and get up some of Marv's hair and have been looking for someone to watch Marv for a couple of days next weekend while I am away to see Bill's son and daughter-in-law.

@ Danae - your day sounds like a fun day. Sunday our youth group is going to a corn maze. I am not sure if I will walk through it or not as it is supposed to be a scary one and I'm not much into scary. LOL The teens are excited about it though.

@ Donna - I am sorry to hear that you have to pay deductibles and save up for a new truck. It sure doesn't seem fair since it was the other guy's fault. I will continue my prayers for you.

Danae, Revelation is always a insightful book to study, seems like I learn something new every time DH does a Bible Study on it at church. Thanks for the prayers, I'm have some emotional pain right now dealing with the fact that the other driver was illegally driving & high on drugs & now not only are we having to pay deductibles & such to file on our own insurance but are without a truck. Since it most likely will be totaled, we won't be able to replace it til sometime next year as we save up for a downpayment, the insurance will pay off the totaled truck but nothing left over.

good afternoon ladies. I had a good day today. I went to my wednesday bible study that happens every wednesday starting in September. We are studing Revelations this year. Pretty exited about that. The study is good. Reallly good insight on revelations.A couple of good questions that she ask today was good.

Like 1)If Jesus wrote you a letter to you today, what would it say? That question almost put me into tears. 2)Who do you need to show love by Jeaus Christ? and then she pointed out some good Principles to. 1)Jesus knows his church and knows you, 2)Faith at perservers through stuff operation to Christ to a broken world.

now i am babysitting my friends kids. So glad my daugher gets along with them. Then afterwards i am gonna go to walmart

DBELLE39 so sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you are okay. Keeping you in my prayers.

Danae, Yum, what a delicious sounding breakfast. Hope the day was positively awesome for you.

Barbie, hope the walk is invigorating & the dogs make to be great friends. Mom came home on Monday afternoon. She still has a bit of the pneumonia but has her meds & she can get some quality rest at home, something not found in the hospital.

I returned to work yesterday. Did ok, just dealing with headache & neck/shoulder pain & discomfort. I'm happy to say I've graduated from the muscle relaxers to just OTC Ibuprofen. Yay, there's improvement in the pain level for sure. Hoping to hear from the body shop on an estimate today & whether or not the truck is repairable or if should be totaled. On a flip note, my SUV was put in the shop Monday, there was a small oil leak found at the last oil change that happens to be covered by warranty, woohoo!!! I should be able to pick up my SUV later today.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Wednesday.

Good evening fiends. Yesterday I took Marv for an hour walk and then worked I the yard for 2.5 hours. I was so exhausted I couldn't check in last night.Today I skipped the walk and just worked I the yard. Bob also came and worked for a while. I can't wait to get it done. Tomorrow I am meeting a friend and her dog for a walk. I am not sure how that will work but hopefully the dogs will be sociable and get along.

@ Danae - sounds like you had an enjoyable day with your family.

@ Donna - I am glad to hear you are feeling better and pray you will be able to get back to work tomorrow. I am glad your mom has been improving and will be going home soon too. No one likes being in the hospital any longer than necessary.

Danae, it's good to have you back. Glad you are doing better, sounds like you had a lot going on with your health, it's strange how we take it for granted til we something happens, a lesson I've learned as well.

Barbie, I'm so sorry, didn't realize how close Rebecca was to the family, I'm guessing she was one of the victims of the school shooting. My prayers & thoughts are with you & your family as well as Rebecca's.

No whiplash, but Dr seems to think I tensed up with has my neck & shoulder muscles all tightened up which is why I was in so much discomfort as well as the horrible headaches. The main concern we had was the level of confusion & fogginess of mind which was signs of a concussion. She said even though I don't recall hitting my head, but the jolting & shaking of the accident would have caused my brain to slosh around like jello in a bowl. She wanted me to take some time off from work, initially 2 weeks but then she said 1 week & that when the dizziness & confusion went away I could return sooner if I wanted.
I made it through yesterday without having to take muscle relaxer, the ibuprofen seemed to work fine. I decided to take 1 more day off from work just for good measure as I still have a small amount of dizziness. Hopefully tomorrow I can return to work, I'm going stir crazy sitting in the recliner all day. emoticon

The Drs are reviewing Mom's records today. She may come home sometime today or tomorrow. Yahoo!!!! God is good.

We had a wonderful church service yesterday, it as our Annual Homecoming Service. The music was presented by a man that has been in a wheelchair since the age of 17 due to a horrific car accident. What a blessing he was to our service. Good food & fellowship ended the day & I came home & took a 3 hour power nap. I've not done so much sleeping as I have since the accident. LOL.

Have a great day
