THE TALISMAN WITH PETER STRAUB WAS A REALLY GOOD READ, AND IF YOU LIKED IT THEN YOU WOULD FIND EYES OF THE DRAGON BY KING REALLY ENJOYABLE BECAUSE THE TWO BOOKS ARE SIMILAR IN HOW THEY ARE LAYED OUT, I AM NOT REALLY SURE HOW TO WORD THIS FOR YOU AS I DON'T WANT TO RUIN THE BOOK IN ANYWAY FOR YOU I AM NOT A SPOILER PERSON, JUST TAKE MY WORD FOR IT AND READ EYES OF THE DRAGON AND ENJOY IT IS ONE OF KINGS EARLY WORKS.

LTCSGIRL - I had to laugh when I read that! I can remember reading Salem's Lot when I was around 22-23, living in a small apartment with my ex-husband. I was home alone, reading the book and got so scared I had to go outside and sit to finish reading!

I also love The Talisman, The Stand, and The Dark Tower series the best. I'd love to start the The Dark Tower again and read all the books straight through. Maybe when I retire........

Why can't she write poetry? Tabitha does., even Steve has a few poems out there. But even then i'm not 100% sure if she does. All I know is she writes sermons.

As far as living in Florida goes maybe she doesn't like the New England winters? After this past one even I was thinking of moving down there. lol But I can't imagine myself living there in the summer, no way, no how, uh uh. Some people dig it. Shrug.

AND POETRY IS NOT MY BAG EITHER NEVER UNDERSTOOD IT SO NEVER GOT INTO IT.......BUT A POET? THAT IS WAY OFF BASE ALONG WITH A MINISTER, AND WHY DID SHE MOVE TO FLORIDA AS FAR AWAY AS SHE COULD GET FROM THE HORROR HOUSE IN MAINE? HOW BAD CAN THAT BE.

Yes, they have a daughter, Naomi who is a minister and has her own flock down in Florida, Plantation is the town I believe. I think she writes poetry but not sure if any has been published. The reason I don't know is because i'm not into it.

Yea, we've talked about Tabitha a bit before. Both their sons are also authors. Joe Hill who has "Heart-Shaped Box", "Locke & Key"- a comic book series and "20th Century Ghosts"-short story collection and Owen King who has "We're All in This Together"-short story collection.

Looking forward to whatever the King's have in store in the future. :)

I don't have King's email, silly. Although, at his message board you can send him posts and I heard sometimes he reads them. He must not be too into the gaming stuff otherwise you'd think he would have written something about it by now. I bet his kids didn't spend too much time in front of the t.v. playing either. Next time I see Joe i'll ask him, if I remember.

I AM NOT A GAME PLAYING PERSON, I DON'T KNOW WHY BUT I JUST NEVER GOT INTO ANY TYPE OF VIDEO GAMING AT ALL. HAVE FUN WITH YOUR SONS GAME, AND WHY NOT SEND AN EMAIL TO KING AND ASK HIM IF HE PLAYS VIDEO GAMES AND WHY NOT WRITE A BOOK BASED ON ONE.....THAT WOULD DEFINITELY GET REALLY INTERESTING WITH A KING SPIN ON IT.

WHAT A WET READ THAT WOULD HAVE BEEN AND I THOUGHT THE ONLY DRIPPY BOOKS YOU COULD FIND ARE THE XXX RATED ONES, LMAO, YOU MUST HAVE HAD COCOA BUTTER ON THOSE FINGERS THAT DAY....TEE HEE.......
AND WHY DOES NO ONE EVER MENTION THE SHINING AS BEING A FAV I WONDER? AND I ALSO DEARLY LOVED NIGHT SHIFT, OF COURSE THAT WAS THE FIRST STEPHEN KING BOOK I READ SO MAYBE I AM PREJUDICED ON THAT ONE, AND OF COURSE THEY HAVE MADE ALL THE MOVIES TO GO WITH SO MANY OF THEM INCLUDING APT PUPIL, NOW THAT IS ONE CREEPY FLICK FOR SURE. YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT IS GOING TO HAPPEN NEXT IN IT, AND YOU ARE ALWAYS EXPECTING SOMETHING THAT DOES NOT HAPPEN......WOW.....BUT DEAR OL STEPHEN HAS SO MANY NOVELS, NOVELLAS, SHORT STORIES,COLLECTIONS, IT REALLY IS HARD TO PICK OUT JUST A FEW FAVORITES. I LOVE THEM ALL, EACH ONE IS DIFFERENT, LIKE I TOLD SOMEONE YEARS AGO HE CAN TAKE SOMETHING SO ORDINARY AND TWIST IT SO FAR PAST IT THAT IT SCARES THE BEJESUS OUT OF YOU, WHAT AND IMAGINATION HE HAS.

So cool to see so many King fans! I truly think if you love to read & don't like King, you haven't given him a chance..his dialogue rings to true! I saw a previous post about Gerald's Game...how did that not freak you out? That book creaped me out totally..it could happen!! My favs are The Stand, The Dark Tower Series, & It..but I love alot of his short stories too, for instance, Apt Pupil! Keep reading King fans!!

hey Carol,

Yea I told her to take real good care of it.She said she will and then I kept telling her throughout the day of what NOT to do with it, such as reading in the bathtub, etc. She laughed and said she doesn't do that. I once ruined a copy when it fell into the ocean. I was too close to the frigid New England waves so got up to move the chair. Kerplunk. DOH! Thank God it wasn't a SK. :)

DON'T PARTY TOO HEARTY THERE CJ BUT I AGREE WITH YOU SINCE KING IS SUCH A CELEBRATED WRITER HIS WORKS CAN ONLY GO UP IN VALUE, AND AS FAR AS THE FIRST GUNSLINGER BOOK, THEN I AM IN LUCK AS I HAVE THAT ONE, I GOT IT WHEN IT FIRST CAME OUT. AND ADDED TO THE STORY LINE AS EACH SUCCESSIVE ONE CAME OUT , I THOUGHT HE WOULD NEVER FINISH IT .....HE LEFT US OUT IN LIMBO LAND ON THAT ONE FOR FOREVER AND A DAY AND THEN HE PUT ALL THE REST OUT ALMOST ALL AT ONCE TO FINISH THE DARK TOWER SERIES UP, DID YOU TELL THE BORROWEE NOT TO CRACK THE SPINE ON YOUR HSB BOOK? I WOULD HAVE,AS THAT KEEPS THEM IN BETTER CONDITION. MORE LATER.

I disagree, I think his stuff is worth a lot and will be worth moreso when he's not of this earth. And of course the first editions, limiteds and signed copies will only go up in value. But I cherish each book, even my crappy paperbacks I use as reading copies. :) I actually just loaned out a signed paperback copy of his son's(Joe Hill) "Heart-Shaped Box"! I can't believe I did that but I didn't have a copy that wasn't signed and I wanted to share this book because I thought it was REALLY good.

Happy Memorial Day weekend!

I am also a King fan from way back when! I don't think that very much of his stuff will be worth much. The market is just saturated with him. There is one book, I think it was the original Gunslinger book, published either late 70's or early 80's, that is almost extinct! I've looked for it for 25 years and the ones I do find are so outrageously priced that I'll never afford it! Maybe I'll find it a yard sale or flea market, kind of like "The Road Virus" story........just maybe, heh, heh.

Oh yea! It did come out in Everything's Eventual.,BUT it was on the audio, Blood and Smoke.... FIRST. Of course they usually release a paperback when the movies comes out. Which is cool. :)

CJ,
1408 is one of the short stories in Everythings Eventual.
It also came out in a novella back about 6 months or so ago. I saw it at the local super market.
So yes your brain is cramping....it is in print.

Donna,

Lisey's Story does start out slow but like Bag of Bones you can't put it down when you get into it. Don't give up on it! :)

1408 was in Blood and Smoke as an audio, I don't know if i'm having a brain cramp or what but I'm pretty sure that's not in print anywhere. Anyone want to confirm or deny that?
I thought the movie was better than the audio, btw. Cusack was great.

Audio books......not my cup of tea. But SK is one of the greatest authors I have come across. my first book was Tommyknockers and I have been in love ever since. Insomnia was a good one, Bag of Bones was slow in the beginning but once it got me I couldnt put it down. I started Liseys Story but couldnt get into it but that doesnt mean I wont try again. Duma Key is the next one on by TBR List.

1408 I havent read but saw it on video and enjoyed the story very very much, will still read the book though.

On Writing and The Eyes of the Dragon were excellant in my opinion as well.

All in all I will always support SK in his writings.

My son just turned 10., I hope he wants to start borrowing books soon.

The Gingerbread Girl was a great story, i read it in Esquire, i can't do audio books. My mind wanders and I lose track. I couldn't even get into the Mist 3d audio that came out awhile back. Shrug. Just not my bag.

"He just doesn't have the reading bug yet."

How old is he MLIFE4USK? My oldest son has trouble catching the reading bug too... and my wife and I are avid readers... constantly reading, so it's not by lack of example, lol. But he started reading the "Alex Rider" novels by Anthony Horowitz and is hooked now, they're like James Bond style adventures with a teen spy.

Not Stephen King quality, mind you... lol... but entertaining and he's now becoming more interested in trying some other books. Never know.

Back to SK:

Just finished Lisey's Story. Honestly... not my fave. Written very well, as always, but this one just didn't work for me. There were a lot of aspects I liked, but somehow it just didn't resonate on the whole.

I also just finished The GingerBread Girl on audio. Really cool quick read. Very nice, vintage King.

I will definately check out this site. I have been an avid reader of Steven King since I was a teenager. Trouble is, I start a book, and can not put it down. My busy schedule just will not allow that right now. I can manage to discipline myself in other areas, maybe this should be a personal challenge, ex. "read for 1 hour a day".

WELL KEEP ON TRYING THE READING BUG IS BOUND TO HIT HIM AT SOME POINT I KNOW THAT ALL THREE OF US KIDS GROWING UP LEARNED THE LOVE OF READING EARLY AND HAVE ALL STUCK WITH IT, AND MY DAUGHTER PICKED UP THE LOVE OF READING WHEN SHE WAS FIRST LEARNING HOW TO READ, SHE COULD NOT GET ENOUGH OF IT,,I HEARD THOSE BOOKS SO MANY TIMES I COULD REPEAT THEM IN MY SLEEP VERBATIM. WE HAVE EVEN GOTTEN MY SON IN LAW INTO READING KING TOO, HE HAD NEVER READ ONE UNTIL HE MARRIED MINDY AND SHE WAS READING KING BOOKS SO HE PICKED ONE UP AND HE IS HOOKED. SO I KNOW THAT WHEN SHE BORROWS BOOKS IT WILL BE AWHILE BEFORE THEY COME HOME AS BOTH OF THEM HAVE TO READ THEM.......WHAT A WAY TO GET THE BOOKS YOU WANT TO READ GO TO MOM'S ALL NIGHT LIBRARY ,HUH? I'm just waiting for the day my son wants to borrow my books! No signed ones, though.

He just doesn't have the reading bug yet. I bought him a Simpsons comic book today and he barely glanced at it. HE LOVES THE SIMPSONS., thought for sure he'd want to read it. ::Sigh::

YEAH I GUESS THAT WAS IT IT WAS JUST SO TAME TO BE A KING BOOK, NOT ENOUGH GOING ON TO SCARE THE BEJESUS OUT OF YOU AT EVERY TURN OF THE PAGE, GERALDS GAME WAS A BIT WILDER AS SHE HAD SOME DEFINITE PROBLEMS TO GET OUT OF THERE. AND KINKY ONES TOO I MIGHT ADD, I DID LOVE THE TOMMYKNOCKERS, THE STAND, SALEMS LOT, CARRIE, CUJO, ETC, ETC, AS THAT LIST COULD GO ON FOREVER, TEE HEE, AS I AM SURE YOU AGREE, AND DUMA KEY WAS SUSPENSEFUL AND I REALLY ENJOYED AND TRYING TO FIGURE OUT JUST WHAT WAS GOING ON, AS IT HAD SOME TWISTS AND TURNS IN IT THAT YOU WOULD NOT EXPECT, AND THE ENDING WAS TOTALLY DIFFERENT, LOVED IT, WHAT AN ENDING THAT WAS, THERE WILL BE NO FOLLOW UP BOOKS WROTE IN DUMA KEY THAT IS FOR SURE, JUST LIKE HE MOVED OUT OF CASTLE ROCK, SO WHERE ARE WE GOING NEXT? I ENJOYED EYES OF THE DRAGON, WHEN I BOUGHT IT I FOUND IT QUITE BY ACCIDENT ON A DOLLAR BARGAIN TABLE AND IT HAD BEEN OUT FOR QUITE SOME TIME AND EVERYONE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT A GOOD BOOK AND I ENJOYED IT IT WAS IN THE SAME VEIN AS THE FIRST ONE WITH STRAUB WAS THEY WERE THE SAME TYPE OF MYSTERY TO THE BOOK, SO I HAVE A HARD BACK GREEN FLY LEAF COVER OF EYES OF THE DRAGON, AND MY DAUGHTER STARTED READING KING THE SAME TIME I DID SHE WAS A PRE TEEN THEN AND SHE STILL LOVES THE BOOKS, SHE CAN'T WAIT TIL I GET THE NEW ONES SO THAT SHE CAN BORROW THEM TO READ THEM......SHE IS WAITING TO COME AND GET DUMA KEY, THE NEXT TIME SHE STOPS BY I KNOW IT WILL BE GOING WITH HER.....TEE HEE.....I KNOW HER LIKE A BOOK, SHE IS ALWAYS ROBBING MOM'S LIBRARY FOR READING MATERIAL WHEN SHE LEAVES YOU WOULD THINK SHE HAD JUST CAME FROM THE PUBLIC LIBRARY WITH THE STACK SHE TAKES WITH HER. TEE HEE.........

TGWLTG felt like a King novel to me, but a very tame one. Sort of along the lines of Gerald's Game don't you think? Jessie was the main character and was MOSTLY alone and talked to herself much like Trisha does and had to get herself out of a bad situation. Of course Gerald's Game was much freakier! TGWLTG is a great first read for teens as is Eyes of the Dragon. I loved the Red Sox reference as I'm a fan of the team. It's kind of weird that Tom Gordon got traded to the NY Yankees shortly after the book came out. He's now on another team I believe not sure which.

GO SOX!!!

Well, I can't say for sure if he's been to WV or not but he has been to other states. Sometimes the promoters keep the event somewhat hush hush so there aren't a lot of people. Keep your ears and eyes open. You might have to travel a little bit, though.
The first time I met him I had to drive 4 hours and then the hubby and I stayed overnight in a hotel so we wouldn't have to drive back the same day. I'll let y'all know if I hear of anything!

Stephen King is my #1 favorite author. I even found things to like in his post-accident work, lol. I think his stuff has matured since then... not necessarily gotten bad. He's got different focuses since then, not surprisingly it comes through in his writing.

The Cell was his really first foray back into vintage King from back in the day, but to be honest... I was enjoying the direction his stuff was going with Bag of Bones, Hearts in Atlantis and the like. The direction seemed more mature and "literary" somehow... while The Cell was just back to the shock & awe pulp of his early work... which I also love.

I just think he's one of the best American writers working today... hands down. He can create a character and a personality and a world better than anyone else in the game.

SO NOW I KNOW THAT I HAVE TO DO A BIG TIME SEARCH FOR THE COMIC BOOKS TOO......OH WELL WHAT ELSE IS NEW, THE BOOK CLUBS ARE GOOD ABOUT HAVING TABITHAS BOOKS WHEN THEY COME OUT AS THAT IS WHERE I ALWAYS GET MINE....IT KEEPS ME CAUGHT UP WITH HER ANYWAY, I WONDER IF THE STEPHEN KING BOOK CLUB WOULD HAVE THOSE FEW I MENTIONED TO YOU OF NOT HAVING YOU KNOW THE OBSCURE ONES. I HAVE ALL THE OTHERS. AND THE HARD BACK EDITION OF THE COMIC BOOK AND THE TALES FROM THE CRYPT COMIC BOOK TOO. SO THOSE I HAVE. BUT I CANNOT BELIEVE THAT SOMEONE DOES NOT LIKE TABITHAS WRITING WHEN SHE HAS HER OWN STYLE THEY ARE STILL IN THE HORROR OR SUSPENSE GENRE AND ARE GOOD. AND OF COURSD JOE HILL IS A LITTLE STEPHEN. NOW I CANNOT COMMENT ON HIS SON OWENS WORK AS I HAVE NOT FOUND THE BOOK TO READ YET, BUT I AM STILL LOOKING. I HAVE A SPECIAL BOOKCASE FOR THESE BOOKS IN MY LIBRARY AND I DO REREAD THEM EVERY SO OFTEN TO GO BACK AND RE ENJOY THE BOOKS. AND YES DUMA KEY WAS A FANTASTIC READ AS YOU NEVER KNEW WHAT WAS COMING NEXT. THAT HE KEPT YOU SPELL BOUND IS A DEFINITE AND HE DID A GREAT JOB OF IT ALSO, I LIKE LISEYS STORY, IT WAS DIFFERENT BUT STILL A GREAT BOOK.

I disagree, I think Black House(2001) was fantastic! And Dreamcatcher was way better than CELL. Course we all have different tastes. I really enjoyed Lisey's but it did take a little bit getting into and I wish he spent a lil more time in Boo'ya Moon.
Also, he had some great stories in Everything's Eventual but some of those probably weren't written after his accident. Shrug

I think I'd recommend The Trap by Tabitha for a first. Good luck finding her stuff though!

I think Duma Key is his best since his accident. I have to agree with the other poster that since his accident he hasn't had a great one.

Lisey's Story was OK, it got to fairytailish for me. I loved The Cell but HATED the ending!

I will have to try some of Tabitha's book, I never read a single one.

Hey there, I would think any King fanatic could get into Tabitha's books as well, my favorites were The Trap and Small World. She uses a fictitous town called Nodd's Ridge much like Steve uses Castle Rock. I still need to read one or two, they are hard to find!

Yes, Joe Hill has a comic book series out called Locke & Key, that's what he's promoting this Sunday. And with re: to getting signed books if author's signing is close enough I'd be CRAZY not to go,right? Afterall he came to my hometown! And besides, maybe it will help pay for my son's education when he's older. I would hate to part with them though but I will if I absolutely have to.

There was one part of Duma Key that I didn't like and I'm sure those that read it know what I mean. I just hate it when he kills off characters that we love. Won't name names....King still Rules, though!

YOU KNOW I HAVE AN ISSUE OF A TV GUIDE SOMEWHERE IN THE SHELF OF STEPHEN KING BOOKS BUT I DON'T KNOW WHICH ONE OR WHY I KEPT IT BUT I HAVE ONE AND ONE ONLY, OUR RESIDENT EXPERT ON KING HAS IT ALL, SHE'S GOOD, AND SHE DOES NOT LET ANYTHING SLIP BY HER NOTICE THAT IS FOR SURE. THAT IS WHY IT IS GREAT TO HAVE HER AROUND AND ITS ALWAYS NICE TO HAVE HER POSTS TOO AS SHE CAN GET INTO THE KING THING FOR SURE, AND I DID READ DUMA KEY. IT WAS GREAT AND IT WAS DEFINITELY A DIFFERENT ENDING. THAT WAS REALLY COOL WAY TO END THE BOOK.......

I've always loved Stephen King, a few years back I took a break cuz they started affecting me too much (gross or scary) but I've recently read Lisey's story and Duma Key. I loved them both and own them both. Lisey's story took me awhile to get into, I was confused through the whole begining but I absolutely loved it when I was done and do reccomend it, and I love how Duma Key was mysterious but it wasn't a horror... READ THEM!!! LOL

Why exercise and punish my body for something my mouth did? :)

In response to Chiwillow's(think that was the name) remark about King's 'stanky' books after his accident.

Had to look them up to list them all. King was hit in June of '99. I do believe TGWLTG & SOTC came out before that but how can you say all these books stink? Man, there's some GREAT stuff here.
I will admit his Dark Tower books changed after 5., but in fairness I do think King felt he had to rush to get these out as his brush with death kinda freaked him out. Do you blame the guy? I still love the series though.,and the ending. :)

Duma Key and Lisey's Story were vintage King and very good reads. I love all his work.,so maybe i'm a bit jaded? not sure that's the right word there, it's been a very long 2 weeks and I am utterly exhausted. I would not recommend remodeling your living room a week before you throw a big birthday party. OMG. I have 1 more day to get stuff done and i'm freaking out! lol

Happy reading all & happy Mother's Day! Here's the list:

1999
• Storm Of The Century
• The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon
• The New Lieutenant's Rap (limited edition. Gifts for attendees at King's 25th publishinganniversaty party April 6:th, 1999, Philtrum Press)
• Hearts In Atlantis
• Blood And Smoke (an audiobook original)

2000
• Riding The Bullet (an eBook original)
• The Plant I (an eBook original)
• The Plant II (an eBook original)
• The Plant III (an eBook original)
• Secret Windows
• On Writing: A Memoir Of The Craft
• The Plant IV (an eBook original)
• The Plant V (an eBook original)
• The Plant VI (an eBook original)
• The Plant, Book One: Zenith Rising (an eBook original)

2001
• Dreamcatcher
• Black House (with Peter Straub)

2002
• Everything's Eventual
• From a Buick 8 (The German edition (Der Buick) was released about 6 month before the US ed.)

2003
• The Dark Tower I - The Gunslinger (revised and expanded edition)
• The Dark Tower V - Wolves of the Calla

2004
• The Dark Tower VI - Song of Susannah
• The Dark Tower VII - The Dark Tower
• The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon (a pop-up version of the book)
• Faithful: Two Diehard Boston Red Sox Fans Chronicle the 2004 Season (with Stewart O'Nan)

2005
• The Colorado Kid (Original paperback edition)
• 'Salem's Lot: Illustrated Edition

2006
• Cell
• Lisey's Story
• The Secretary of Dreams

2007
• Blaze (as Richard Bachman)

I will add that The Colorado Kid and From a Buick 8 are my least fav King stories. Blaze was fantastic, imo as was Dreamcatcher and Black House. And The Gingerbread girl is a short story in the magazine Esquire with Angelina Jolie on the cover. As it turns out I have an extra copy of this if anyone wants to buy it. LISEYS STORY AND DUMA KEY WERE BOTH GREAT BOOKS AND KING IS STILL HIS OLD SELF IN TAKING ORDINARY AND MAKING IT INTO EXTRAORDINARY AND SCARING THE BEJESUS OUT OF YOU WITH IT. SO YES ALL OF YOU SHOULD READ THE LASTEST TWO AND ENJOY THEM BOTH. I HAVE READ EVERYTHING THAT KING HAS WROTE BOTH UNDER HIS NAME AND UNDER THE BACHMAN NAME I HAVE THE BLAZE BY BACHMAN STILL TO READ BUT I HAVE BEEN DOING ALOT OF BOUNCING AROUND AS FAR AS AUTHORS GO AS MY TBR BOOKS ARE SKY HIGH SINCE I HAVE BEEN BUYING MORE AND MORE, BUT THATS OKAY AS IT GIVES ME ALL THE CHOICES TO READ FROM AND MAKES SURE THAT I ALWAYS HAVE SOMETHING NEW TO READ. SO EVERYONE PLEASE DO READ DUMA KEY IT HAS A REALLY REALLY GOOD ENDING TO IT, SOMETHING YOU WOULD NOT EVEN EXPECT. BUT THATS KING AT WORK.

my favorite Stephen King books would probably be The Stand or It. I've only read them each twice but they are on my list to read again...

Stephen King is my favorite author!! His work did change alot after his accident, but his writing style is consistent & I have read 98% of what he has written & liked all of it & loved most of it. I did like Duma Key. It was strange, but good. I also like many of his short stories, including 2 that recently became movies..."The Mist" & "1408". The Stand & The Dark Tower series are in my top books of all time & I read them yearly.

Lisey's Story was ok, not your typical King story. Just finished Duma Key and it reminded me of Bag of Bones. I really liked both of them. Does anyone know if the Gingerbread Girl will be a real book, not audio? It looked interesting, but I'm not an audio book fan.

I have read a TON of SK books. He is one of my favorite authors but i don't own many I mainly check them out of the library. I had Duma Key on hold but ended up not picking it up on time and now am reading a different series. Should I keep it on my TBR list?

Yeah, it kind of did have a puke ending. But up til then, man that was scary. The thing that I find more scary than anything with SK is that he KNOWS what scares you and some of the stuff could happen. The Stand is my all time favorite novel. And I have never slept with a closet door even partway open since reading the Bogeyman short story.

I almost quit reading King after his accident. I don't know if it was damage, drugs for pain or what but his stuff stank. I have every book up til then, and have been devouring his stuff since I was in 4th grade and had to have a note from my mom to check out his stuff from the library. The last good thing I read was Cell and Everything's Eventual wasn't bad. I didn't bother with Liseys Story and was wondering about Duma Key, haven't gotten it yet. I was wondering if it was any good I don't want to spend money for it and hate it. I don't like to get books from the library, most of them stink like cigarettes. So I buy them from the used bookseller or my cheapie book clubs. I may try it, but it won't be on top of my TBR pile.

Back in the day, I loved Stephen King. I think that when I bacame a mom, it all became to scary for me (same for scary movies) but I have heard good things about this latest book so it is also in my TBR pile. Does anyone know about Lisey's Story?? I heard that was good also.

My daughter collects hardback copies of all of Stephen King's works. Even if she has/reads a paperback version, she still wants a hardback copy for her collection. Most of his works are too scary gory, horror for my tastes. I have read a few; Christine, Pet Cemetary (sp?) and ongoing now, Eventual Things. I never would have purchased that last one if I had noticed that it was short stories. I usually do not choose short stories, they usually just do not get in-depth enough.

I have always enjoyed Stephen King's book. He went a little weird for awhile but I am just starting DUMA KEY so far it is wonderful. The things that the main character is saying to himself I am thinking ya that's exactly how I feel about that.
