Good Morning, Ladies!! Hard to believe tomorrow's May Day!! tho' a whole fresh start! The goals I want to challenge myself to obtain -
- I am picking up an extra Jazzercise day, so minimum of four days a week now, horsercise in the middle.
- Stay within my calorie range, and work on portion sizes. If I HAVE to have a "bad" food, just a couple of bites to satisfy.

Did great with portion sizes and eating fairly healthy over the weekend in Sunriver at our Girls' Retreat, though thankfully did not have the weight loss plan of one of us did - we ended up taking her to the ER at 3 a.m. Sunday morning with a very severe case of stomach flu. The rest of us are holding our breath to see if we will get it as well. Her son had it before she left, so we are pretty sure it was nothing we ate or drank, because we all ate/drank the same!!

Anyway. Another month, another 30 days of goals to work on obtaining.

Janis, I'll be happy to continue doing this. Come up with challenges for yourself that keep you moving forward. Some of my seniors team have trouble not seeing the challenges as a 'competition'. It is certainly not that. It is simply a place to remind ourselves of those problem areas in our own lives and remind oursleves to work harder on them than we used to.

Janis, I love the point you made about time! Each of us can start over every breath we take so why get upset over messing up just now, huh?

Since you all seem to want this, I will start a new one for May on the first and we'll just do one each month, okay? I get more out of it than any of you because it makes me pay attention! Grin. And if I have to type out the daily tidbit the site gives us then I have to READ it...and they really help.

Where did this week go?!? I haven't posted since Tuesday so here goes...

Overall it's been a good week. I'm still not losing weight but I'm doing a lot of things "right" and must give myself credit. We're in this for the long haul so a bad week here and there are to be expected. It seems most of us are always racing the clock when in reality, the beauty of time is that we can start over, right now. Each minute is a chance for a new beginning.

BTW, I'm in for another month as long as you all don't mind my sporadic check ins!

I had a fairly decent day yesterday. Didn't totally over eat, made good choices, got in another walk down to the dock and back, planted flowers. Today is dinner at the track while watching the teen boy Sprouts compete in the Elden Kellar Invitational. Think I iwll take a salad with me instead of having a high sodium, high fat, yummy hot dog! LOL!

Julieann, we've all had those times. The articles on the site dealing with that have been helpful to me. Do you read them often? The only thing I can tell you, based on my almost 62 years on this rotating orb, is that for something you cannot touch, see or hold in your hand...guilt weighs you down more than anything else I can think of. Best to let it go and just go forward as if each minute is a new beginning, which it is. The hardest lesson I had to learn once I got into the need for weight loss was that I don't have to be 'perfect' at it. Nobody is. All I or anybody else can expect is that I do my best at that moment in time. And Sweety...this is a self lecture to ME...not just to you! LOL! Do try looking at all of the things you are doing RIGHT and build from there. And remember...we're here for you! Lori, if you are reading this...meant for you too!

Oh...and all I am doing with these daily things is copying them from the great work the crew here on the site does. I am more than willing to keep doing it next month if you guys want? I find it helpful. Like the one for today...meant just for us!

Hey Julie, it seems like it has just been that kind of week, so dont beat yourself up over it. Its been a real struggle for me too!! I knew April was going to be a really hard month to be strict with myself with, and well, I have done the best I can - but not where I want to be,

So, in saying that, I am going to keep this challenge going for another month. Anybody with me??

No problem, Janis! It helps me stay focused too....scatter brain that I am!

I did my long walk down to the pump and back today. Rough walking and between point 8 and point 9 miles. My hips joints are screaming...not just the butt joint. Been a while since I challenged them like that. LOL! Still have 4.5 points to eat tonight too and I can't decide what since it will put me over my calories for SP. Hmmm...what to do, what to do?

Monday was a great day! Stayed within my calorie range, dramk all my water and even went for a walk. I feel so much better!

BTW Nance, I wanted to say thanks for posting the 30 Days to Greater Happiness here. They're wonderful suggestions and it's nice to have them right here where I can see them when I check in. Hmmmm... another reason to check in. LOL

Welcome back to the healthy track, Janis! We all suffer those little detours, don't we?

I had a good eating day but didn't get the long walk in I had planned. ORF was gone fishing all day and I decided it wasn't wise to take off a mile away and not have someone to call for help if needed. He's here today but so is the rain. Might walk anyway if the road isn't too slippery.

Sunday wasn't a lot better but at least I ate one healthy meal instead of all junk. Back on track with a whole new attitude today! I was even inspired to go for a walk. Although I hate walking in the rain, when it's nice out I thoroughly enjoy it. Gives me some "thinking" time too.

Ok, not posting here doesn't mean it didn't happen so here's my confession:
Thursday was pretty good. Friday started out good... I worked my tail off in my mom's yard. Friday night though, all I did was sit in front of the TV and snack. Saturday was even worse. MIL started trouble and I finally reached my limit! I was so flippin' mad!!! Needless to say, I ate my way through the anger and was left being disappointed in myself. Grrrrrr... Just trying to recover today and take care of myself. I'll check back in tomorrow with a better attitude!

I agree about the daily accountability. Just keeping up on posting every day is helping me so much! It's good to feel connected!! :-)
I think today would be a great day for me to go on a walk...celebrate Earth Day indeed....there is a lot to be thankful for! And Earth Day should inspire me to eat well today too.

Hey, I am here! Just crazy busy the last couple of days. Trying really hard to stick to my challenges, but kind of blew it yesterday. Took the kids to dinner and to the prom (we sat elsewhere in the restaurant), and it was The Old Spaghetti Factory. Kept to small portion sizes, and there was no fried food, thankfully! Also, only got in 6 cups of water. BOO!!

Hmmmm...I seem to be spending a lot of time here by myself the past few days! LOL! Been doing well on the eating plan and keeping most things under control. Having to report publicly seems to be a type of brake that works for me.

Morning, Ladies! Nice day for a walk outside, huh? I made several passes aorund the yard yesterday and need to go out today with my camera and get some pictures of all the pretty blooms. Even got back on the Bike to Nowhere yesterday for 25 minutes and, although it hurt, it still felt good. I have missed that so much.

I had another good day Wed. This weather is helping because I worked in my mom's yard for 3 hours. I got my water in and that's is pretty easy now. Although I had some chocolate, it was a limited amount. I weighed this morning and I lost the lb. I'd put back on. Wahoo!

Good Morning Ladies!!
So, thankfully, Jazzercise tonight to work off my shame from last night. Took the boy shopping for prom clothes. Ya, $150 later, we stopped and I splurged on tempura shrimp sushi to restart my heart!! HOLY COW! Who would have thought Prom was so friggin EXPENSIVE!!??
-No other fried or processed foods though
- 12 cups of water (the sushi made me thirsty)
- too tired for wine and popcorn!!

Onward and Upward!!!

Lesley, sounds like you did really well on your weekend away. And back to Jazzercise already...kudos Kiddo!

Janis, let me tell you about how I look at Life. LOL! I see it as us all looking through the same prism but from slightly different angles. Because of that we all see things a bit differently. Different colors, different lighting, etc. So if something in Life is bothering me, I just shift my viewpoint to where the view is more pleasing to me! LOL! It's a handy tool to use when things aren't going how you originally wanted them to go, but aren't as bad as you somethings think they are! LOL!

Ahem, I met all 3 goals yesterday! Yeaaaaaay!

It took me half the day to finish cleaning cabinets and closets. Up and down the step stool, hauling boxes, etc. was definfinately a "couple hours of activity."

You're right Nance, it's all in how you look at it.

Morning Ladies!!
Well, I have a lot of atoning for, but I dont think I did too badly! You get a general rundown of the weekend, though. I am not going to break it up into individual days. Had a burger on the way to the coast Saturday, and wine and popcorn two of the three days we were there, but no processed foods, and had a lot of salad. Ate okay overall. Didnt drink enough water though, and my body is sure telling me!! So glug-a-glugging today! I did make it to Jazzercise last night, though, and that felt good!!

Janis, glad that helped! LOL! Sometimes we just have to change the angle of how we look at things to make them better....not the actions involved.

I joined the online Weight Watcher's site yesterday to see if that will give me the incentive to behave myself. Actually, I joined to get ideas for what to feed my friend Joan when she gets here in 3 weeks since she has lost over 70 pounds on WW's and I sure don't want to stall her progress! LOL!
I have been generally combining SP with WW's anyway...might as well make it official.

Stats for 4/17
1) calories...1331
2) cholesterol...62
3) sodium...1658
4) exercise...20
5) fiber...31
6) water...11

I changed my goal Nance, thanks! I did heavy duty cleaning yesterday and that was enough. It felt really good to post "met"!

Monday:
1) get a couple hours of activity in daily - met.
2) minimum 8 glasses water daily - met.
3) limit sweets - met.

Janis, it sure sounds like you are getting plenty of activity. Why not change that goal and re-word it to reflect that? Might make all the difference in the world on how you view it then.

I did horrible yesterday...but sort of expected to. Calories aren't bad but I ate commerically canned chili for lunch and blew my sodium out of the water. Back on track today though and back to planning menus, measuring and weighing and getting serious again.

Stats for 4/16.
1) calories...1,590
2) cholesterol...265
3) sodium...4,116
4) exercise...90 minutes ironing, 20 minutes playing with the dog.
5) fiber...53
6) water...13

Morning All,

Here's my stats for the weekend:

1) walk 30 minutes 3x week - didn't do it again!
2) minimum 8 glasses water daily - met each day.
3) limit sweets - met each day.

I think I need to keep the focus on food & water and stop beating myself up for not walking. I can find any excuse not to do it! I'm getting plenty of exercise working in the yard, at my mom's and the property so I'm going to modify my goals until the weather is nice enough for me to stop dreading walks. So... as long as I'm getting a couple hours of healthy activity daily, it's going to be good enough for now.

Had girlie Sprouts here for a lot of yesterday. Kept me active, off the computer and they ate most of the peanut butter cookies! LOL!

Nina, how in the world do you keep your sodium so low? I fight it constantly in spite of not using the salt shaker and always buying low sodium products when I can find them. So frustrating!
