We don't run at all. These are walks at what ever pace suits an individual.

I have breathing problem too and can only run part and walk and then run some more then walk hoping to do 6 miles

Awesome :) I don't have a car. I checked out the route for me to walk to the hospital from my house. It's 2.74 miles. I'd love to go but I'm not sure I'd be up to doing another 10k on top of the 4.5k it is just to get to the starting point...

Thanks for the info's! I will absolutely check out both of those sites. It's very helpful to have someone to walk with, makes the time and distance fly by! I will for sure be at the hospital tomorrow AM...do I have to call that woman or can I just show up? I'll probably leave the dogs home for the first one, just to see how many people and other dogs are there, don't want to freak them out, hehe. :) Happy yardwork!

Hi Betsy,

Congratulations on your first 5k. Do you know there are 5 and 10 k routes already laid out all over Oregon and a couple right in Salem. Check out www.ava.org and specifically: http://www.ava.org/gen3/data/event_details

On Thursday October 21, a group of people from Eugene and Albany will be walking this walk if you'd like to meet another group of walkers fairly close to home. They will meet at the Salem Hospital, 890 Oak Street SE at between 8:45 and 9 a.m. For more information call: Susan Hoskins (503) 364-3475.

If I get that yard of dirt moved out of the driveway today, I'll be there too.

Hi Betsy, Congratulations on your first 5k. I'm from Albany but am a member of the Chemeketans in Salem. They are a hiking group that does many urban walks in and around Salem as well as all kinds of and ability levels of hikes in the woods around there. It is great that you are keeping track of your 5K and doing it on purpose. It is a good way to challenge yourself. Since it is a sunny day today have a great walk. The weather report says rain tomorrow.

So, today I'm walking my first 5k. I've probably done that or even farther before but not intentionally or all at the same time. I mapped out my route on the spark fitness tracker and I'll time when I leave the house and when I return. I'm taking my dogs with me as they need the exercise and will enjoy the walk. I wish I could run it but I have asthema so we'll be walking. :) Have a great day!
