Nope. I'm still looking for another person for our team since we've already lost one.

Gaye - My co-worker & her husband did PTC a few years ago & they also had a great time. In fact, I haven't met anyone who didn't have a great time doing either HTC or PTC.

Did you find any takers on doing PTC w/ you?

Z, I had a co-worker that did it a few years ago and loved it. I thought, way too late that it would be fun to put a Spark PDX to Coast together. Now I'm thinking if I get started on it soon, might be able to have one next year. Anyone interested?

There's always the Portland to Coast walking relay! I haven't done it but I'm sure it's a great experience too.

I'm still a walker, definitely not a runner. I would love to do the relay some day when I would be an asset to a team.

Let me tell you, I was just a watcher this year and it was the most amazing experience! If you are a runner, you should really think about it. I know from living with the runners for 30+ hours, it wasn't easy. But oh so gratifying. It should be on every runner's bucket list.

Calling all Runners (or wannabes too)! emoticon emoticon emoticon

My friend Kate (KEAKMAN) & I are putting together teams to participate in the 30th Anniversary of the Hood to Coast Relay. Our goal is to have all the runners come from SparkPeople. We're a few people short so I'm looking for all interested parties (& you can bet it'll be a party!).

Some background on the event itself: Hood to Coast is a 197-mile relay race that begins at Mt Hood’s Timberline Lodge and ends at the Pacific Ocean in Seaside, OR. Every year 1000 teams of runners strap on their running shoes and get ready to participate in the “Mother of All Relays”. The runners take turns completing legs of 4-7 miles, taking 20 to 36 hours to complete the course that tests physical and mental strength and stamina.

Some basic info:
- The relay will be on August 26-27, 2011. Each team has 12 runners who each run 3 legs of between 14-20 miles over the course of 20-36 hours.

- Registration fee is $110. Expect to spend around $400 excluding transportation to Portland, OR & any pre-relay food purchased in OR. The $400 will cover registration fee; relay van rental; hotel at Seaside, OR; thank you gifts for team volunteers & drivers; & team shirts.

- The $110 registration fee must be received by KEAKMAN by October 5, 2010 because registration forms must be postmarked on October 13, 2010.

- There are no guarantees that ANYONE gets in. HTC tries to pick from each state and every nation that puts up a team. BUT since the 2010 HTC SparkTeam raised nearly $5000 (#14 out of all 1023 teams!) there's a reasonable chance of being re-accepted. Still, no sure things.

The official website is here: www.hoodtocoast.com/

Ok, if you're interested, please SparkMail me the following info:

1. Your name.

2. Your normal 10K time. Putting your PR that was a once-in-a-lifetime time is not in your best interest. Nor is writing in your slowest time. We are looking for a normal race finish time.

3. Do you prefer to be on a "fun" team or a "competitive" team? Keep in mind that the good people at HTC would like us to all run 9:30 miles. Keep in mind that the 2010 SparkTeam was nowhere near that pace this year and we still finished! So if you can maintain a 9:30 pace or better, then you might be interested in a competitive team.

4. What is your age? This is important if we are looking at putting together a competitive team. Are we looking at a women's only team? Members over 40? What classification/ranking would our competitive team fit into?

If you have ANY questions, please let me know!

Happy running,
Z.
