I'd like to encourage you all to get out and walk no matter what the weather forecast! As you know, in Oregon things change fast... so even if it looks gloomy when you are lacing up your shoes it can be sunny by the time you get to your start of your walking place.
I bought some rain proof walking pants to go over my jeans. It helps if it is really a down pour. Walking in the rain can be very fun. It also is invigorating and it shows you will not let the weather dictate your routine... because we do need to get outside and exercise.
We can wear layers to cope with the cold and rain. I bring my ipod on some days so I can listen to a podcast while walking. Other days I watch for the amazing life springing up around me, including hearing the birds sing or watching for new flowers blooming.
Okay, here is my weather report, from south of Portland a bit.... some clouds, 50 degrees and some blue sky peaking thru.... no breeze here at this time... Birds are beckoning me to come out..

I'm in the Happy Valley area. I got the recipe at New Seasons today, after tasting a sample, so I came home and made it. Melon (I used honeydew), jicama, lime juice, oranges, cilantro, and a sprinkle of sea salt. Next time I may use cantalope. Perfect for Cinco de Mayo today.
