Trish, Do you have a Salem Parks and Recreation that may have a fitness class at no (or very low) cost to you? Or maybe Marion Co.has something? I know that we do here in Eugene.... might be something to look into as well.

Thanks to all the replys! I know it would be a unique situation to find someone to workout with on a weekday morning. I really have no income to pay for an indoor gym membership, which would be great at some point! I do trade some help to be in my friends evening aerobics class though, love it!

One of these days, I would love to have a dog. I don't feel comfortable getting a dog of my own while a student and not sure of my future. (I have two cats to keep me company...and they do!) But, I wonder if a neighbor has a dog they'd like to get walked?? hmmm, that is something to pray about.

I live alone and have no family close by, so I get plenty of "me" time. I don't mind, though. I just walked to church and back (an hour total) that was nice...glad the sun is shining!

Thanks again for you ideas and comments!

Trish

sorry, I live too far away, but I did want to share to check with a fitness club or a gym, they may have someone that wants a partner/motivator. Our gym offers a discount for someone when they sign up for a workout partner.

Sorry not quite close enough. I am in Hubbard, but I work in NE Portland, so I leave by 7 in the morning to get to work by 8.

well, I do get to Salem now and then - have a daughter there, but not regularly. I live down in the Eugene area.

Can you just take a morning walk alone on days you don't have a "buddy" to team up with? I walk alone in the mornings and it really gives one time to reflect, enjoy the surroundings (even tho it's just residential streets) It's some "me time". I do 3 miles most days, takes about an hour.

I find it invigorating and relaxing both - and sure gives me motivation for the rest of the day. I will even walk when it's raining (drizzling) and just take an umbrella as long as it's not windy. If its windy, then I usually do the treadmill inside the house and watch something on TV.

Or maybe the Lancaster Mall has a walking club early in the mornings before they open? I know Valley River does here - Gateway as well, I think.

Some things to think about............ Good Luck.

Hi! I live in South Salem, I am wondering if anybody close by wants to keep the momentum going during the winter months and help me think of creative things to keep moving on Mon, Wed and Fri mornings? I am a chemeketa student (I'm 31 yrs young...I'm an old chemeketa student) And I'm taking most of my classes online this term because I don't have a car til spring. But, I find that I do much better all around if I start my mornings with something social and active!

Any diehard Salemites (or anyone who has a reason to come into Salem one or more times per week) out there want to try this out? We can walk outside if the weather is not rainy or freezing, maybe we could do a fitness video if it's not good to be outside? We could walk the mall downtown? Maybe there is an affordable fitness class we can find? I don't know? I'm looking for ideas.

Even if you can't excercise with me, do you have fun ideas for how I can stay active???

Thanks, SparkFriends!

Trish
