Great attitude ..
I like the idea of not using the wagon anymore.. so starting today, it is to just take it one moment at a time.. not to worry that I have done something wrong. ok, back on the plan..

During a discussion on "wagon falling off"ing in another team we all decided it's impossible to fall off this wagon.

There is NO wagon.

That's a negative image that exists in our heads. The idea that this is a chore, something we MUST do no matter what. That messing up is a FAILURE of some sort.

You can't fall off a wagon that doesn't exist.

This is just life. This is our lives. No blame, no failure. There are good days and there are bad days. Indeed sometimes we can mixed days even. You just keep on keeping on and trying to tweak it all so that it balances out right in the end.

Not only CAN you do this, but you all ready ARE doing. You all ready have succeeded in changing your life for the better. Just ONE decent meal and ONE walk has all ready improved the quality. We are here, growing and learning, so we are all ready succeeding, no matter how poorly we are eating and no matter whether we've got the working out down right or not. We ARE doing this.

Okay, to all of us wagon-faller-offers....

Time to get back up there. Make a new plan if the first one didn't work (that's what I did). If the first one was good for you, TODAY is the day to restart it.

No waiting until tomorrow. There is always a tomorrow. But we all need to start TODAY!

not going well I am sorry to say. I have fallen off the wagon so to speak. I am now trying to get back on the wagon. I did feel so much better when I was eating healthier.. I did feel so much better when I was excersising...
Why is it so easy to fall off that wagon..?

I am making new goals for me... thanks for asking

Wow, how nice of you to ask!

I am doing pretty well. I am meeting my goal of 300 minutes of exercise each week, and I am eating pretty well. I am not losing weight very quickly, but I am working hard to keep it in a positive perspective.

Take only what you need.

I do "Random Acts of Fitness" as often as I can. I find that by doing that I don't feel like exercise is work. It has brought me a long way.

I try ti use the Schwinn Airdyne everyday and my small step up, 30 min of walking and m, w, f I do strength exercises from the fitness section. Ones that don't add more damage to my body.

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

Sounds like you all are doing great! I love the ideas you are sharing - the more I have in my arsenal, the more ways around roadblocks.

F8CONE8, what kind of exercise do you do each day?

I have to have goals to keep me going. I set a goal of 1 pound a week and 10 minutes of exercise per day. I also set a goal of putting my food in the tracker each day. That really helps me. Well, 2 weeks later and I am doing it! Woo HOO

puff1n, Glad I could help. I had a girlfriend in the past that would get hung up on the numbers. She would react in a very unhealthy way. Starvation and vomiting. It really bothers me when people get hung up on someone elses miss guided idea of health that it causes an unhealthy reaction. whether it be extreme or mild we must always remember health first a little self forgivness next. good health and weight loss take time and lifestyle changes not immediate and unhealthy shortcuts. good luck and stay focused good haelth is a journey with the associated ups and downs.

I've been doing so well I have to redo my goals. This is the third week I've exceeded my workout goals and the second one I've doubled it. So this next week I will be increasing those goals.

Thanks for thereality check --0.3# is so LITTLE to allow it to destroy my attitude. So I am removing the scale from sight for a while, and focusing on the healthy eating and exercise. I have also started doing more volunteering time to get me out of the house and away from the snackies. Thanks again.

But look what you did this week! Even when you were sick. I'm impressed. It's too bad to miss out on Boot Camp, but an hour and 35 minutes of walking in two days......good work!

Take care of yourself so you don't go from a cold to super-sick. Sleep, and rest!

This hasn't been a good week for me. I started Sunday with a sore shoulder and neck so didn't do the New You boot camp videos and also had mon and tue off. Finally back on my regular schedule yesterday, walked 40 minutes, then went home early with a cold today (did get 55 min walking in)so it looks like I'll be behind a whole week on boot camp. Then it's vacation in another week.

Excellent points BBRIGGS1! It's about being healthier for me, too. Thin would be awesome, but being the best me I can be is the ideal.

I don't know about scales so much .I jump on one about every week. I go for eating healthy and how I feel. I know when my back starts hurting from work or my mobility is tight I need to hit the gym or stretch and get more active. Sometimes it's hard when you are working around the kids sport schedules every evening. I know I do better when I get my body used to a routine. I also think beating myself up over 3 tenths of a pound is a little strict for me. You might have had a glass of water or two still left in your body. I joined this spark thing to get healthier. maybe you have gained some muscle. Remember the scale is not the boss your body, what you fuel it with and how you feel is the true measure of health. My doctor told me two years ago that by my height I should weigh in at 160 lbs. Being around 230 at the time I thought maybe he was right. I did an old wrestlers quick cut down to 210 got serious about my health and joined a gym and got to do the associated health assessment. The trainer said that with my body style and muscle mass I shouldn't try to go below 180-185. I confronted my doctor and he checked further and we did some other tests and measurements. Long story short he agreed that 180 should be my bottom weight. Saw a dietician and worked with her untill I showed her the abs books. Now I still use her menus and 6-pack abs and the doctor and we have worked out a program for life health not weight health and I feel better than I have in years. I still need to lose my belly and get down to 190 or less. However, the occasional beer and barbecue has me fluctuating between 200 and 210. progress not yet perfect.

I need help on what to say to myself when a small up-tick happens in my weight. 3-tenths of a lb up demoralized me more than I could believe! I have lost almost 6 pounds since Christmas when I started, but that .3# got to me. I am exercising at home and gym, eating carefully (except for a trip to Costco and "snackies") so I think rationally I am doing well. But that @#&%@ scale...

I have completely crashed! Husband is still not working so between stress and his eating habits of everything fried the old healthy eating went out of the window. I hyper-extended a tendon in my ankle tripping over a rug at work so I have been unable to exercise. And to top it off my 25 yr old DD fell and broke one of her fingers and shattered another one so we have spent the last week "on the road" at the doctors and hospital for surgery.

The upside is I know that things will eventually change and that I once again can start taking care of me!

Everyone have a great day!

I had to "sneak" in healthy foods. Bought a gallon of whole milk and a half gallon of 2%, and added the 2% when the gallon was half gone (making 3%!). Eventually got my son down to drinking skim with me, but my hubby still insists on whole (he's one of those never-gain-an-ounce types!)

I also add a few more veggies to dishes, add less cheese, or use low-fat for part of it. Just making little changes has everyone eating a LITTLE healthier. And sometimes I just make what I want, and they can have frozen pizza! emoticon

The company I work for is between projects so I am on vacation for awhile. I am a union carpenter so I am usually working myself out of a job every day I show up. The upside is I have more time to hit the local "y" . I am hoping to get the gym under my skin the way it was when I was younger and had more after work energy before going back to work. I am walking every day and am meeting my goals of one or two hikes per weekend. I am also trying to fit the 6-pack abs diet into the family meal regime since I am the cook in the family.

This week has been very challenging as I have been on vacation all week. I am driving to Corvallis today to have lunch with a friend and we are going for Chinese Food. I looked the menu up and I can get brown rice and mixed veggies. Would like some protein so I guess I will decide when i get there. Hope you all have a nice day.

So how is it going? Are you still working on your goals/challenges/resolutions this year? Any unexpected obstacles? Any successes?

Just want to encourage you all to keep on keepin' on!

I have been getting in at least 30 minutes of cardio each day, and have walked over 125 miles so far this year.
