Jadzea May and Nancy, thanks so much for your warm welcomes. I look forward to getting to know you better, and the other folks here too.

Nancy, I found your messages today, and sent you a Sparkmail reply before reading the post on my Sparkpage, that mentioned where you are working, so that's why I asked if you were working for the resort. Oops! I'd love to get together out at Sunriver.

I need to get some chores done around the house, so I'd better get moving. :)

Oh, why are there two separate Oregonians Chat Threads? I wasn't sure if I should quit posting on one and just use the other. Thanks.

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

Hi. Just joined this team. Am buying a home out in Sunriver, in Central Oregon, and wonder how many others may live out there already (who are members of this group). I grew up in Coos Bay, but also have lived in Eugene.

I had trouble with Firefox crashing last night...so didn't get my "job" done....so here it is:

Please post on the New Thread.

Well, I think I'll try to get myself moving, but it will be slow. I had a doctor's appointment on Monday and he was very pleased with my diabetes and cholesterol readings. All of them were down...not my weight, but we do agree, I need to find something that will allow me to exercise without making my joints hurt. He gave me a prescription to start exercises at the pool. I should be able to go when Art goes for his Silver Sneakers gym stuff.

I have several appointments set up which I have put off for several years when we had no insurance. I am waiting for Spring to show up and stay...it would help my mood to stay up better.

I'm going to make a new Discussion thread this evening, so look for it. I'll also put the link to the Tulip show there...so everyone will have access to it.

You will find information at this link about a special event at this year's Wooden Shoe tulip festival. There are some beautiful pictures of the event over there. Wish I had one of those for our team picture. This one is last year's tulip festival out there. emoticon

Teresa, I am so sorry!

So far today we have had: emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon and hail! Mostly rain and slushy emoticon

Had to go to Walla Walla to get groceries and stopped by Staples. We went and did it, we got a Lap Top. Staples has them for $399.99 after the $150.00 instant and $30.00 on line rebates. It has Vista on it so will be learning how to use that. Now, I can do my Spark even while we are away from home emoticon emoticon

We never got to go for our emoticon emoticon yesterday as the wind got stronger and stronger and the temp fropped to the low 40's high 30's. emoticon As a matter of fact, we turned off our Computers just in case we lost our power. It lasted all night long. Was still blowing at 5 this morning but not strong at all.

The Blues must be getting pounded with the emoticon Spout Springs has 12'4" on the road sides.

Got in my emoticon emoticon today, here at home and the stores. Hope everyone has a great day.

today was a very difficult day for both me and my mom. We took my youngest(16 years old) and last cat(Dakota) in to the vet at 1pm pacific time to be put to sleep today since he was in alot of pain, stopped eating and had lost alot of weight and was just skin and bones. we both think he had cancer so it was time to put him to rest. He lived with my mom for many years since where I live will not allow me to have pets so it was much harder on her today.

So the next few days will be a difficult adjustment on my mom loseing her companion and for me to remember to not ask her how he is doing.

Going to take our trek emoticon emoticon up the hill this afternoon. Went for a ride yesterday and this on house has a mass of Daffodils in bloom. They are on a corner and the whole front length of the sidewalk in front of their house is planted thick with them. They also have emoticon emoticon evenly spaced the length of it. It always looks beautiful.
This year, I noticed that they also have flowerbeds along the front of the house full of daffodils in full bloom.

It's only 49 out right now and it's after 1. emoticon emoticon O sure hope it warms up some at least before we do our emoticon emoticon since most of it is shaded by the side of the hill.

Coming back from Walla Walla Saturday, we went by a place that has horses and goats. They had this one goat separated from the rest and the poor thing had emoticon emoticon emoticon , triplets she was feeding and they all looked alike from what you could tell. Poor thing!

Have a wonderful day everyone, it's emoticon emoticon day for me.

It's a nice 51 out right now. When we went out earlier we could see the snow covering the fields going up to the Foothills. They got quite a covering last night. Tollgate and Spout Springs really got dumped on.I posted pictures on my blog.

Today I am doing much better on my calories and need to stick much closer than I did yesterday on my disaster. Have a great evening everyone!

Good evening everyone!

I feel 100% better now and really do not feel like I have my cold anymore persay(morning it still hints that it may be around LOL).

My friday at work was long and boring since Joe, the man I care for, was out with family from 330p-730p so I sat around work waiting for him to come back home.

My long Saturday went well at work. It rained really hard most of saturday but that was ok since Joe and I were not going to go anywhere LOL.

Today was church this morning then out to lunch afterwards. Went to mom's house so I could see Dakota(my cat) who is not feeling very well so please keep my mom and I in your prayers as we are going to see if we can have him put to sleep Monday so he is not suffering. After visiting my cat we went to the open house for the new library and it is really nice!

Now I am working on emails and sparks stuff before I just relax infront of the tv the rest of the evening.

Have a great night everyone!

What an interesting day, weatherwise in my neck of the woods! The sun was shining this morning, so the kids and I decided to take Chloe for a walk. Before we got home, a downpour drenched us. We ran like crazy b/c we weren't dressed for that!! Good exercise for Grandma.

After awhile, we decided it was done raining and the kids wanted to ride their bikes. Grandpa took them this time, riding his bike, too. He found some muscles he had not used in awhile.

homemade applesauce? sounds fantastic.

I'm about to go make potato salad. It is so much easier to just buy a tub of it, but I can make my own for a LOT less calories and less added junk.

Hi all - been busy working - 6 out of the 8 days with two more to go before time off. I am tired but the money will be nice. I am retired so this working so much is hard to get back into!!
Not doing real well on my eating plan, beginning to wonder what it is going to take to get me back on track. I am frustrated and upset with myself.
Looks like spring is finally coming here in Sunriver, the days have been very enjoyable and we haven't had snow for over a week!!
Off to relax and gear up for tomorrow.

Amber, take care.

We had to go back to Home Depot today for plumbing supplies and they have 4 pks of the n:vision energy star light bulbs. The have rolled back the price on them to $1.85 a pack, so any one wanting to get your lights changed over, now's the time to do it. It's for both the 40's and 60's They only use 14 watts and have a 9 year warranty.

Working on plumbing around here today so will be scarce. Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning, Everyone!

Can't wait to make it back to Oregon.... I'll be flying into PDX in a couple weeks from North Dakota. Yep, we're experiencing all sorts of blizzards, flooding, extreme cold. We're here on contract and our location should change soon. Either way, I'm coming back home for about a month. I'll hit the beautiful Oregon trails again soon! That acai berry is really helping. Add that to a healthy diet and exercise and its been a great boost towards meeting my goals of weight loss and healthy living.

I know I don't post often but I sure do enjoy hearing how everyone is doing on their goals. This is a great team of people. I wish you all a wonderful and fun day in beautiful Oregon!

We have been at it hard and heavy today. It is emoticon and 50 out so have been doing a lot of emoticon weeding, mowing, raking leaves and trash that has blown into the yard. Filled a 90 gallon trash can with it all. Can just close the lid but it has stuff peeking out.

Went for supplies to fix the shower handle and fresh veggies and fruit too before we got started outside. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Have a bunch of those viney emoticon purple perriwinkle coming through and under the fence and trying to choke out my emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon and snow ball bush. So I was pulling a bunch of that up. They have a pretty flower but they entwine the other plants and choke them to death just like Ivy encircling and growing up a emoticon does. I have seen huge trees killed from Ivy.

So needless to say, we won't be emoticon emoticon the hill today. Have a great day everyone.

Good morning everyone,

Sorry I did not get on last night but I was tired when i got home from work at 630p and just wanted to watch the rest of the news and a few of my fav programs then go to bed and read so that is what I did .

Still fighting off this head cold but right now it is not bad. Reading emails and chatting on IM with a friend before I have to get off and get ready to go to work.

Have a good day everyone!

Good morning everyone! Actually, it is almost noon. We just returned from our first of the season outdoor walk. DH joined me and we walked about 1 1/4 miles. We took Chloe for a shorter walk and she did not want to go even that far. I'm thinking she isn't feeling her best for some reason.

Mudders, I LOVE Seattle! We have so many wonderful memories of visiting Pike's Market, the Space Needle and just walking the streets of the city. Once we splurged and spent the night in one of the hotels on the waterfront.

Kathi, I totally identify with your feelings. We do love those grand children so very much, but it is hard to have responsibility for them for more than one overnight visit. I confess, I was very happy that our grandkids all had other plans for Spring Break.

Today is day two of my gardening enterprise. Yesterday I bought supplies, today I get some seeds started indoors.

Everyone have a great day. We are so fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest!

Good Morning... So, I woke up this morning to beautiful sunshine (even if it is still freezing outside) and now it's starting to cloud over. I am ready for the summer weather, but at least this gives me a good reason for one last winter soup. I've never done anything like this before, but I want to change... so I am thinking this will be a good start. I have a long way to go, and I am hoping this will help me get there.

Good morning all!

I would like it to stop being so cold now. Or at least rain some more. I need moisture in the air! Dry, itchy winter skin is attacking me yet again. I think I should take some stock in a lotion company! lol

Hello everyone!
Last night we sold my son's old bed on craigslist. It feels to get it out of the garage and off to be the exciting new bed for a 3yo boy. It was a bed that my stepfather built for my sister and I when we were kids (a set of bunk beds) so I am glad that at least the bottom is off to a good home. The top has gone missing...

I made a healthy decision after lunch. We walked to my son's wellness appointment. It was fun. Lots of chattering on the way...

No gardens for me. No sun and no oomph to get it done in containers...

Teddybeargirl, isn't it a great feeling to use what you have on hand to create the perfect room for yourself?! I'm happy for you that it turned out so well. It sounds very nice.

I didn't get my seeds yesterday after all. We got a phone call from DS who lives in Cove Orchard and we met him in Salem. By the time we headed out 22 toward home, we did not feel like stopping at Dallas Walmart. Today, I want to do that.

However, a little glitch in my system. DH and I are two very different types of people, energy-wise. He is a go-getter, never content if he does not have a project going on. This is good in some ways; we live in an older home and maintenance is essential. He is always going on that. Plus, when he retired, so did I. Now he uses his pent up energy to do the housework (from which I am retired). He enjoys it and I reap the benefits. But I digress...

He also has taken over the yard. It is his baby and he is protective of it. He does not want a garden, so we don't have one. However, I am going to do a container garden and I told him so. Immediately, he is full of ideas and suggestions and if I don't watch out, before I know it, he will have taken over the entire project! Just listening to him, I can feel my enthusiasm lag a bit; but I have enough oomph left in me that I can handle this. That will be my gardening mantra: I can handle this!

I am not going shopping with him for my seeds - or shall I say he is not going shopping with me? Yes, that is more the spirit here.

I will let you know how successful I am with this.

Have a great day!

Good evening everyone.

Hope you all have had a good day so far. Read emails this morning and chatted on IM with 2 people then got off the computer to relax for a while(resting my cold I am fighting).

I then decided to straighten up my computer room and get the clutter off the floor by the corner closet doors. To put some of the clutter away i had to rearrange some of my cupboard space that is in this room. So I moved some things from one cupboard storage area to a closet in my hallway so i could get other tings put away that needed a bigger space to store them LOL.

I then decided to open up my curtins and let some natural light in(first time all winter long) and the glare on my computer screen was horriable so I thought if I am going to be opening up these curtins this spring and summer I have got to chage the direction my computer is at(my back was to the window so the reflection of outside filled my screen and I could not see a thing on it LOL)

So I found my furniture gliders and proceeded to rearrange my computer, side table and file cabnet that was all part of a man made "L" shaped desk(since I cant afford the real thing LOL). Well it took 2 different arrangements but now I like how it turned out. I can see outside now as the window is to my right and no more glare! I still have a "L" shape but it is much smaller of an "L" now LOL as I could not keep the furniture in the same order it use to be. But it is still functional for computer use, paying bills etc.

I still need to do laundery this evening so I guess I will go put on my PJ's so I can get it started and relax the rest of the evening.

Goodnight all!

Thanks Kathy, sorry for not saying blog. You get larger pictures when you put them in your blogs instead of your page so I usually put them there.

Even though it's 53 out the wind makes it feel much emoticon . Had rain off and on through the night and early this morning. Not going to get to take our emoticon emoticon up the hill today. emoticon We were planning on one.

At least I can get in some walking here in the house where it's warmer. Managed last night to not have a snack so stayed at the low end of my calories emoticon that has been an issue lately.

Have a great day everyone and do the best you can in everything you do emoticon

Jadzea, I forgot to mention that I, too, checked your photo gallery for the new pics. Didn't see them but sure appreciate your talent at crochet! You have made some beautiful things. My husband has an aunt who just turned 98 and she still crochets - and very well, too. She gives all her items away, mostly to missions.

TBG, have you considered tomato plants in containers? They require less attention but do need sunshine.

Good morning

I am fight off a cold and I think I am keeping the upper hand by useing my Zicam regurally.

I live in a rental duplex and my only planting area is a raised flower box that is full of my daffidols so nope no garden space for me. Living alone I would not be able to keep up with the amount of food produced in the garden anyway.

Jadzea I looked for your critter pics on your page and did not see them in the galery. I will look back later on to see if you have added them yet.

Well have a great day everyone!

Good morning, Oregon friends! Are you planning a vegetable garden this year? I think that I will try my hand at it. DH has not been supportive of the idea in past years, so I've gone along with him. He has said, "With a vegetable stand just up the road, why go to all the trouble? Besides, we have too much shade." It is true, we are shaded by 8 large maple trees and a few other old trees and shrubbery.

Falls City used to have a community garden by the library. It was in an open field and enjoyed sun all day long. Last year, they took it down. Being fairly new to the area, I'd never used it but had hoped to do so this year. Tomorrow, the Gardening Club has its monthly meeting, and I am going to attend. I'd like to find out about the community garden.

Did you notice the Spark article this morning with pointers for beginning gardeners? It has great information! If nothing else, I am going to consider containers for plants needing more sun, and hope to work in some shade tolerant lettuces on one of the flower beds.

I thik seed starting would be ideal as a money saver. Although I've used our local veg stand the past 2 years, I noticed that last season prices were about as high as the grocery store.

So, what do you think about growiing some veggies?

It was so beautiful today. We went for our climb this afternoon and there were a number of others doing it as well. 1 young mother with her emoticon emoticon girl. Another young mother with a little boy and girl, a woman with her emoticon and then a man with his emoticon

Took my camera with me. I really didn't think I would see any of the emoticon emoticon but they were out there. Boy are they fast. I was standing there trying to get a picture but they always stopped in the shade. Then I heard a sound from behind me and up at the edge of the Wheat Field and there were 2 standing guard. Got some good pictures of them so posted them on my page.

Got in all my exercise today too and stayed in my calories, just made the lowest number.

I hope everyone had as good a day as I did. Just blocking out the FMS pain as best I can.

Good Sunday afternoon all!

I had a good day at work yesterday.

Today I have been to church, out to lunch, did a load of laundery, dusted, cleaned my bathroom and now working on the computer for a while before I get off to just relax for the rest of the evening.

Hope you all had a great day today!

Went for a nice hike yesterday. Scrambled over big boulders, used a little rock bridge over a stream (I got wet), went through blackberry bushes, scrabled down a bank on our butts, climbed back up. Had a great time! I'm a little sore today...

I love dogwoods. Don't have any but I think they are beautiful.

It was 61 again but didn't really feel like it so wore my coat. We had the camera with us but because there were some women and dogs coming down the hill, I figured the critters would all be hidded so didn't take it up with us. So what do we see on the way back down on the lower side of the hill? 2 of them! We could have used the zoom to get the pictures and they would never have known.

Now I know! Anyway, had a nice walk up and back down. Glad we went when we did because we weren't home an hour when it started emoticon We have a big storm coming in and we might get emoticon . Hope it's just in the foothills and not down here.

Hope everyone has had a great day.

Water is very important for us. We may, and I do, require more than the 8 glasses a day. The link goes to a water calculator I use to see what I need for my current weight. Mt requirement has dropped 9 ounces due to weight loss. Yipee!

It must be spring! I noticed all of the pink flowers on the dogwood trees downtown. It was a nice change in our little commute.

It was so beautiful today. 65 out so it almost felt hot. We got in our emoticon emoticon to the top of the Hill again today. It was just Beautiful! I took the camera this time. Wanted to see if I could catch the emoticon up there but there were so many climbing it too they were in hiding.

Such a beautiful view today. I posted pictures on my blog.

Stayed in my calories, got my exercises done and went after the rest of the groceries today after I planted all the Holly Hocks I dug up at the neighbors the other day. Had a great day emoticon emoticon

Sharon, I am really sorry about the death of your friend. Cancer can be a silent killer.

Good evening everyone
Not too much going on this week. Had a diabetes class on Saturday. Very informative.
Went out for lunch with a friend today. Had enough carbs for both bkfst and lunch. Good thing I didn't eat anything before we went.
Have a funeral to go to tomorrow. Dear friend from church. She was only 51. Diagnosed with lung cancer 6 weeks ago.A very aggressive strain. Went to her brain and she was gone. So very sad. She will be deeply missed. She was our choir director & Sunday School Superintendent. She was admin. asst. for the President of Clackamas Community College. A real wonderful person.
Have a great weekend everyone, hope this weather continues for a few more days, don't you?
