I attended the North Plains Elephant Garlic Festival last Saturday. The day was perfect. The food was absolutely delicious. There were vendors of garlic, garlic spice blends, garlic sauces, pickled garlics, garlic mustards, etc. You could sample most of the packaged products. I picked up some killer garlic dill deli mustard from Monastery Mustards of Mt. Angel and some jalepeno garlic sauce from a place up in Washington. I indulged in garlic sesame chicken, garlic green beans, garlic mashed potatoes & roasted corn with garlic butter. The coup de gras was the garlic ice cream! It was fantastic!!!
There was lots of live music to entertain you as you dined on your chosen garlic fare. They had a beer garden, an market of local artisans & misc vendors (sort of like Saturday Market), and a kids' play area.
With the Air Show going on in Hillsboro, we were occasionally treated to a fly over by some awesome aircraft, too.
I'm sure the Garlic Festival in Gilroy, CA is huge compared to this one, but it was an enjoyable & satiating way to spend a beautiful Saturday afternoon in Oregon.
