We did fine but my brother lives about 1 mile from me and lost a big tree - onto his house. Poor guy he is trying to sell the house and first the buyer backs out and then he gets a forest view from inside his kitchen. Happy birthday to David!

Beautiful here today. I remember those floods of 96. My husband was working for the City of Dallas at the time and they all had to go out and sand bag. The whole Valley was getting hit and hard. The winds reminded us of the Columbus Day storm in 62. WOW. My father-in-law worked for PP&L at the time. The crews were out for 70 hours straight before geting to go home for 8 hours sleep. I was 13 at the time. Was standing looking out the window of our dining room. Watched a huge plate glass window pop out of the grocery store across the street. Boy was that something!!
It's a beautiful day today. Hard to believe in the last week we were freezing, flooding and almost blew away 8) - We have 5 large limbs down in the back yard and several smaller boughs. We've had worse but not much! I was happy to be at work yesterday and away from those giant trees. They always make me nervous during wind storms - the insurance agent in me knows how devestating they can be.
Fortunately we've only had a couple of claims at work. In the 12/12/95 storm that preceeded the 1996 Floods we had over 125!
I feel terrible for the people who are suffering from Flood Damage and are displaced from their homes. My heart aches for them.
wow.. what a storm.. lol I live out towards Hillsboro... we had about 6 inches of rain... and the winds... anyway... I am glad it is over ... I can now see some blue sky.. our electric was going in and out....

I am glad I did not lose power here in Albany and glad that the worst of the storm is over....Glad I was not at the coast even though I love to watch storms over there in a ocean front motel room, this one was just way to strong to enjoy.

When God seems far away, call on Psalm 139
"Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own" 1 Cor. 6:19
Their destiny is destruction, their god is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. Phil 3:19
Prov 23:2 put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.
They called off school in the nearby towns, the wind had been strong but so far not to much power outage. I have plugged my computer back in now and hope for the best. I went to town and library today and that was a little wild. I had to go to the vets office and one of the employees there said she was going to drive back to Powers after work. Powers is 21 miles from civilization and the road is lined with trees. I'm hoping she changed her mind. I told her the story of the columbus day storm in the 60's when a school bus from Broadbent just escaped being crushed by a tree. The janitor of the school was behind the bus and was hit and killed. I hope that made her ask for an early release home. Anyway I am snug as a bug in the house now with the dog sleeping on a rug next to me while I type. Bye for now
It's raining pretty hard here in Hillsboro and blowing fairly hard...I think the wind is picking up. Husband has delayed putting up outdoor lights as they would probably blow down or get all tangled. The weather doesn't look too good for the week, until about Friday. At least the weather forecast is not too promising.

It's foolish to ask God to direct your steps, if you aren't willing to move your feet.
