I came across this article on Yahoo this morning about a 94 yr old who just completed her Master's Degree: http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20070802/wl_nm/

Dang it's August already. I am hoping that I can get on track and stop going over calories by 100-200. It seems to be getting a bit hard. I figure I can exercise a 5-10 extra minutes a day to get through it.

Good Morning Good Morning!!!!!

Lots of good news all around...how wonderful..

Juli I am glad to hear you had a nice weekend and you are all going to meet again.
..and your weight loss is still going! YEAHHH YEAHHH YEAHHHH

Tami...glad to see you back and I don't have to figure out how to find you and email you and come a hiney kicking door knocking heeheee!!!
and I have my MRI on Thursday for my back...sooooooo
once I am done with that (because I WANT the painful stuff to show up on it), then you and I can talk further...

Heather..YOU ARE STILL ON VACATION??? heehee..isn't that like six months now??? *LOL

I had such a great day yesterday!
I do miss work! I miss being in charge and being the O N E!
but but but...
and when my husband started on that maybe they would have a job for me, I was like yeahhhhhh....you do realize that I would be at least four hours DRIVING ON THE ROAD...
and that would not only drive me more insane but that I would probably LOSE IT AT SOME POINT...
that I can handle knowing I am doing this as a temp job right now...
but I am not sure I could do this as a permament thing...
after all he only drives two hours on a bad day...
my bad days in traffic can easily stretch into six hours versus the four hours that I have to do...not to mention that I am getting up at four a.m., to get to work at 7 a.m....
as much as I adore working...
I don't think it is going to mix with all of my emotions and depressions that will kick in when I am sitting in that darn traffic....
hmmmmmmmm
we shall see..

at the moment...I am making some KILLLLLLER MONEY...
LOL..LOVE IT

okay....
getting my coffee

going to enjoy my day of doing nothing...

well...I take that back..
I have HOA stuff to do...and I enjoy that a lot as well..

Later,
love and hugs

Susan

Kathy, congrats on the loss. Juli, YAY you had a great weekend. I'm happy for you.

Val, don't you DARE give up! Losing a teeny bit at a time is much more likely to stick than losing 8lbs/ week. Are you eating enough? I know I know, that seems counterproductive, blah blah blah. I'm not going to lecture you but check your tracker, especially the bottom part where it gives you your range--be sure to stay within it. If not, you will not lose as you want to. If you are staying within those ranges and not losing, you need to tweak your goals and nutrition stuff.

I'm still on vacay and having a blast. We're headed west on Wednesday and I'm about ready to get home. No idea what I've gained or lost...Mom's scale is much different than mine so I'm not taking it seriously. Went for a nice walk this morning before the heat got too severe and may use the treadmill later if it cools off and starts to rain. Funny thing--Pictou County (where my mother lives) makes the world's best pizza. I can't wait to get home and drink Schooner beer and eat pizza. I did it once, that was enough. Huh, go figure that I would lose my love of pizza! Fantabulous!

Talk to you when we get back out west!

Heather

Hey everyone! I'm back. I was in the last of my trainings for The Journey. I was gone 10 days-it was an 8 day training but extremely, extremely extensive-sometimes not getting done until after midnight.

Anway, I'm here. And for those couple of you that talked to me about the pain control thing. i just found out that i can do it without any of the other processes and it still works. how did i find that out? my co moderator on another team was in extreme pain and i was just getting ready to leave and 10 minutes of time for me was stretching it and there was no way i could do 2 hours. so i did a quick 10 minute process for her and her pain on a scale of 1-100 started at an 80 and went to a 50. just in 10 minutes and without the use of drugs. so i would be happy to work with the 2 of you who originally responded to my request and just do the 10 minute process. you can learn to do it on your own after that and do it anytime you wish.

Hey ladies - sorry to miss a couple of days posting, but I had more important things to take care of .. namely my weekend visitor. We had a great time together and did a lot of just hanging around and talking. No major life changes planned yet, but we do plan on seeing each other again, maybe this time meeting somewhere in the middle and spending a couple more days together.
And ... I got on the scale this morning and not only did I lose the weight that I gained last week, but 2 additional pounds so far. Since my house is spotless and I have nothing planned for the rest of the day, I'm going to get reacquainted with my old friend, the elliptical.

Have a great day all - Juli

I thought I'd share this quote with everyone that I received from a WW leader. I know for me the little steps are sticking alot better then the giant ones. With the little steps I practice more and work towards the giant step.

GOOODDDDDDDDdd Morning!!!
emoticon

Don't think for a second that I am MIA!!
no no no no!!

emoticon I have just been busy busy busy and it has been doing me some good!
sooooooo what is going on with me??

Well...last year I got elected as the Secretary into our HOA (Homeowners Associations) and of course that was just supposed to be taking notes.
Well..as it has it, I AM REALLY REALLY involved.
The previous board was just not doing a darn thing!

Anyways...Tomorrow we are having a Neighborhood watch meeting at the Sheriffs Office that I organized after we had a graffiti spree by a "gang" related incident again. We have had to many break-ins and other stuff happening.

I am not also the accountant for the HOA, because the CPA who was doing it was a hmmm lets say a donkey...

We were so behind on having money collected and our addresses weren't updated and so on and so on.

So in the last few weeks and maybe even longer I have been working on getting all the tax information off line.
In the end we fired his hiney and I got to learn Quick books and update everything and well...
this is what I do best...
fix things...
make it work better
easier...
That is what I have always done...
and I will get a little pocket change for it as well, and we are still hiring another CPA to do the year end taxes.
I am also setting other security measures into place because there was so much stuff going on I still am not sure he didn't hmmmmm screw us somewhere.

ANyways...the other thing is I go TO WORK ON MONDAY..heeheee

well....
my best friend has to go out for surgery coming up in August. And she will be out of her job for about two weeks.

Sooooo...I am going to be temp....and it is exciting for me because I haven't really worked in over two years. I get to hang out with her on Monday to see what it is like and meet her "boys". She works in Construction and takes care of a lot of accounting and more. So I will be working in a trailer that is ICE COLD...yeahhhhhhhhh!
Then if I like them and they like me it is a go, I will go in the following week for training.
The money is let's just say for a temp job completely outrageous and I love it. No lifting involved because I made it clear I can't do it with my back. But I can do everything else.

Next -
I have my MRI scheduled for my sorry donkey back this coming Thursday. So hopefully they can see what it is that is causing me all this pain I have been dragging around.
Because I am sick of it. YEAHHh....
getting their slowly!!!!

Kathy..
what a wonderful thing to be involved in!!
HUGS...
be tired...enjoy it *S*...sometimes just letting your body dictate to you isn't such a bad think you know?
HUGS HUGS HUGS, I want to thank you for giving smiles to kids.

JULI...
enjoy your man-weekend and have fun
and also what a wonderful thing that you are taking off those INCHES
emoticon emoticon

you keep going!!
put that on your FRIDGE or on a mirror somewhere.. and remind yourself that you are DOING IT!!

HUGS HUGS HUGS

now...I am off to enjoy my Saturday..

Tomorrow is my big meeting of the NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH and besides the HOA, well...I need to get my own home in order..

I am great of taking care of everyone else and organizing things for others...

but for me...well....I need to do that for ME as well...

Have a great day and weekend,
love and hugs
Susan

Hi all - I was cleaning house and I came across a journal I kept last fall with my measurements

Weight: Then 273, now 263
Hips: Then 57, now 55
Waist: Then 42, now 41
Thigh: Then 28, now 26.5
Bust (across boobs): Then 50.5, now 47.5
Chest (under boobs): Then 41.75, now 40.5
Arm: Then 17.5, now 16.5
Calf: Then 19, now: 18

I guess my point in sharing this is to let everyone know that it is good to track these things so that you can look back in time when you get discouraged and see the progress you have made. I know my overall fitness level has vastly improved since last fall.

Saying ta-ta for a couple of days. I won't be using the computer during man-friends visit this weekend.

I'll fill you in on Sunday afternoon - keep your fingers crossed and send prayers and happy vibes my way

Susan, yes that was cool. I think they went more darker this movie and I like when they have the dark mysterious plot.

I am so tired today. I went to the beach yesterday with Big Brothers Big Sisters. I had a lot of younger kids clinging on my shoulder and neck. So I am taking today off to rest. At least I managed not to get burnt.

Tomorrow I need to get my butt in gear. I have been slacking to long. I have been at the same weight for 2 months and I am tired of it.

Good Morning everyone..*S*

ohhh I was so happy the first things that I saw entering as it all was pulling up were the words VAL...from the post of Juli's...

soooooooo now I have to scroll down and read it all of course, but I am already grinning!!!!!!!

Kristi,
Glad you are here with us..and I like the change of your new PIC!!!
please please jump right on in and just chat away..
we are a bunch of hmmm....well...we are like a puzzle..yep..that is what we are...
we are all different, but you put us together we all sort of fit together..
I think that describes us nicely..*S*

Juli..

I finished HARRY POTTER at 1 a.m. ..so right before you did!!!
and...
without giving something away
I cried my eyes out regarding Hermiones cause...and kept saying how much I hate that darn woman that was writing this darn book...
pfftttttttttt

but I was right about several things that I had said regarding things about what was going to happen and wrong about one...

VAL...

HERE IS A STORY FOR YOU:

Only One Pound

Hello, do you know me?
If you don't, you should.
I'm a pound of fat,
And I'm the happiest pound of fat that you would ever want to meet.
Want to know why?

It's because no one ever wants to lose me.
I'm only one pound, just a pound!
Everyone wants to lose three pounds,
five pounds, or fifteen pounds, but never only one.

So I just stick around and happily keep you fat.
Then I add to myself, ever so slyly,
so that you never seem to notice it.
That is, until I've grown to ten, twenty, thirty or even more pounds in weight.

Yes, it's fun being only one pound of fat, left to do as I please.
So, when you weigh in, keep right on saying,
"Oh, I only lost one pound," (as if that were such a terrible thing).
For you see, if you do this,
you'll encourage others to keep me around because they'll think I'm not worth losing.

And, I love being around you -
your arms, your legs,
your chin, your hips and every part of you.
Happy Days!
After all, I'm
only one pound of fat!

--Author Unknown--

now...

let me add to this:

we don't usually gain FIVE OR THREE OR TEN POUNDS AT A TIME..
we do it by ONE POUND AT A TIME!
yes..it can be soooooooooooo darn hard.
especially when everything else around us is crap and falling around us and we are focused on one thing..
our bad body image and our fat..

here is the thing...
STOP FOCUSING ON IT!!!!!!
and be honest..
where can you improve?
is it that the mush you are eating isn't as good as it should be..
do you need add water?
do you eat a TON of the mush??
only YOU know the answer..
and be K I N D to yourself and good...

VAL..you have a heart of gold...and you have and are going through a lot..
soooooooo..how about you do your body and your heart and your soul a favor and you say thank you for letting go of that pound!!!
celebrate and say to yourself that you can do that again and again and again...
because YOU can do it!!!!!!!!

all you have to do is turn the table around on yourself and be positive instead of negative...
yep...
(hey hey hey...I give pretty good advice and should actually LISTEN more often to myself...*chuckling)

not to mention if you are walking and actually moving around with all the things that are ailing you...GOOD FOR YOU!!!
and you are doing your heart muscles good!
you are working you body and everything else..
soooooo babe...you are probably gaining some muscles..

it is time you whipped out a measuring tape and did some measuring, even if it is just waist and maybe two other thing...
and see how they stack up each month..
remember MUSCLE WEIGHS a lot more than that ugly old fat!!!!

so...DO NOT GIVE UP...you are on a team that is hiney kicking stubborn...
and keep coming here and stick with us..

HUGS HUG SHUGS

DIANE...

you are good with encouragement and say the right things!!!!!!!!!
I agree with you not to rely on the scale at any official play where people are banging into it and who knows when it was calibrated last.
And you keep speaking from your heart, because that is what you are doing!!
Do NOT put yourself down by saying you can't , because YOU ARE!!! giving us what we need...
HUGS...

KATHY...
this was in my opinion the BEST HP movie to date.
Of course...
they all are hard to do, simply because they have to omit way toooooo much.
But it was awesome!
LOVED IT!
The fight scene between Dumbledore and Voldemort was simply amazing.
Can't wait to see it again.

JULI..

you ROCK!!!

and you probably are more fit because and I HOPE YOU ARE, doing this for you. And I hope you are enjoying it!!!
I hope you get done and you simply feel G R E A T.

I miss working out like that. After the few pilates I have been doing in Therapy I crave working out and I hate I can't just go to the gym and go work out.
Once my body gets warmed up and going I can go and go. But once it cools down I have so much pain to deal with in my back...

I was at the doctor on Monday and they are scheduling an MRI.
So I guess I have to wait and see what will happen from here.
SUCKS!!!!!!!!

But I will get through this and I will get better and my body will get aligned and well again.

Now..I have to get going and just do stuff...

*chuckling..

Later,

Susan

Well ... I've lost the pounds that I gained last week, but I am still having a hard time finding my mojo to get out and exercise and eat as well as I should (I am eating better than I had been though).

I think it may just be stress due to this coming weekend - although he did assure me on the phone that he knows I'm not Miss Universe and doesn't care ... but still I worry (he also knows that I am a habitual worrier). I don't know how not to worry - there have been very few times in my life that I haven't worried (21 yrs ago when I was "late" and then oops, I was pregnant; when my daughter had stopped cutting for a while I was actually giving a prayer of thanks, not realizing she was in the next room cutting at the same time; when my dad took sock for the last time, I treated it like it was minor and he never got out of the hospital). Maybe it's not the worrying that's the problem, maybe the worrying is caused by another problem, like an overwhelming need to be prepared and in control?

UGH - this too shall pass, I'm sure. In the meantime I'm trying to do a little more praying and soul searching to figure this out.

I'm also participating in the 5-minute daily challenge group. Today's challenge is to remind ourselves of how far we've come. Since I am down 20 pounds overall from my highest weight, I plan to try to walk around a little bit today with my 2 dumbbells so I can see how much of a difference that 20 pounds made.

Have a great day all - Juli

Val - {{{HUGS}}} don't give up. Since you are not able to eat some of the things you used to, your metabolism may be slowing down temporarily. Any positive steps you take will have a lasting impact on your health - it may not be the impact you want, like a smaller number on the scale. In my case, I am still at the same weight range (give or take 5 pounds) that I was a year ago - but I feel more physically fit than I have even when I was much smaller - I can now do 45+ minutes on the elliptical, average about 20-22 mph on the bike, and have muscle definition in places I didn't know I had muscles.

{{{HUGS}}} no matter what, we are here for you.

It must be a timing thing because the past few days I haven't been totally into doing what I need to. My calories have been over by 300 than what they should be. My normal support group at work is now in a different building and I am having to rely more on email and the phone when I need the support during the day.

I did pack my lunch and snacks for tomorrow unlike what I did last night today. So I am hoping that will help me keep on track tomorrow.

Susan, what did you think of the Harry Potter movie?? I actually liked it a lot better than the last one.

I have been slacking for a couple days as well. I need to get back to my workouts again. I really need to get back on track. I just really lack the motivation right now.

Hey Val, no giving up allowed! I wouldn't depend on any scale in the middle of Sam's Club... And all that walking - maybe you built up some muscle weight! Don't be discouraged.

There are lots of reasons to keep on trying! Even if it's slow, think about where you will be one year from now, or 2 years. Do you want to be 2 years older, and better off? Or 2 years older, and still the same? (This is what I am using to keep going when things get discouraging for me.) Slow is better than not at all! And you are improving your health, not just losing weight - that's important.

I'm not good at words of encouragement, but I want you to know that we are all here for you. I bet you can find some good things that you will enjoy eating, too. There's a lot of good advice here.

Take care, because we care for you!

Diane

I dont have time to read the board right now. I hope everyone is doing well. Know that I think of you all and wish you all the best.

The fair is over.. Maddy is gone to market. How sad that is. It breaks my heart. But I will not shed the tears in front of the girls. They want to do this with 4H and I will not interfer. Its a good growing and learning lesson for both of them. Gina won best show and best fitter and third place in the 4H market show and then took 4th in the Open show. Not bad for her first year.
She came in second for grand master show in her division. The lamb weighed in at 121 pounds. Gina weighs 80. I'm amazed she handled that lamb as well as she did.
I'm worn out. My gum is still sore. I only have 1 tooth now in the bottom of my mouth. The infection is gone... thank goodness.. but I cant eat well. I have to do mush foods. So I have not been doing my sparks people daily. I havent been home for over a week... and I cant see doing this when I cant eat the foods I need too.
I stood on a scale at sams club last week. And I was so upset. It said I only lost 1 pound. 1 pound in all this time. I may not be able to eat fresh veggies and such but I have not been eating much of anything. I have been walking up to two miles a day just to help burn off calories too. It is so hard on me with the fibro and the mayofascial pain... the emphysemia doesnt help when you cant breath in the heat or the saw dust flying around a few hundred animals in one barn.... Yet I forced myself.. and for what.. 1 lousy pound. I am so discouraged.
Why bother I an feeling. Maybe I am destine to be a big fat round woman... who cant hardly move or breath and has a hard time doing basic everyday things most people take for granted.
I'm really down here....

Hugs

Val

I have been such a slacker over the past few days and I'm sure that when I weigh in tomorrow I will post a gain. UGH - I did it knowingly and there is nothing more to do but move forward.

Susan - I spent all day yesterday (until about 2 a.m.) reading Harry Potter - Marina was not being a drama queen, b/c I reacted quite the same way. My eyes are still puffy this morning - I will not give anything away save to say that I went through every possible emotion while reading this book.

Now I'm off to make up for last time and get my butt back on track

Have a great day all - Juli

Guys thanks for your advice and kind words. DH just basically blew it off as things kids do. He is constantly making excuses for his kids.

Believe me things would be different if this were my kid. No I have not given the game back and he will not get it back for about a week, especially since DH left him back on the computer. Sometimes I get so mad, but then I have to remind myself that these are not my kids. I can only do so much. Someone once told me that if DH and their Mother do not care what they do or how they turn out than why should I. It is just so hard sometimes to sit on the side line and say nothing.

One good note for the week. I am down 1 pound today. Hopefully the scale will keep moving down for me.

Good Morning Everyone..

Hugs Natalie for returning back

Now I wish VAL would return too..I miss her!!!!!!!!!

Maybe all of you can help me as well and sent her EMAILS yeahhhhhhhh....because she had such a wonderful way of posting. And I know she was having a hard time...all the way around!!!!
And I would almost bet you she fell of the wagon and just decided it was just to hard..or...she found another thread...
or two...but man..I just wish she had let me know...
because it would have been okay!!
ANd I certainly would have liked to know how her hubby and her are doing!

Kathy..
HUGS...
well...when it comes to kids...*sigh
I would take it away...

and...discussion time on RULES has to happen when everyone is present and C A L M

and physical threats can not happen at any given time...no matter what the situation is...
believe me...
I have been there..done that...
and it has happened to me with my daughter...
I went through it for years..and she is a tiny thing and there were times I wasn't sure how I was ever going to not hurt here if she came after me one more time...
or...how i was not going to hurt here after losing my temper...

sooooooo....addiction is a powerful thing..
and I mean very very powerful, because I KNOW...
I am one of the most addictive personalities I know..
I had to stop playing video games at all because I would play and play and play...
and stay up all hours...

it is strange thing to say, but I am starting to believe that those of us that are that addictive just need a little more attention...
need a little more simulation...interaction and and do not think I am corny...love..
we get wrapped up in things because it is instant gratification and constant stimulation..

Gaming is all fun and good, but under no circumstances can one become violent to another human being, just because someone interrupted you, talked to you, is making you do homework, chores, hey hey hey...because someone reminded you LIFE is still going on!!!

so besides the TAKING AWAY IF YOU THROW IT AT ME AND IT ISN'T COMING back to you (and KATHY...don't fall into the trap in giving it back!!!!! - because then you have lost your ground),
you and your hubby are really going to have to figure out BEFORE you sit down and talk to dear step son what the consequences are if there is ever any physical contact that is not a friendly hug...

(remember...my opinions...my thoughts...my babbling...after all it is barely after six a.m...I am still drinking my first cup of java...
take what you like from anything suggested, and toss the rest out with the garbage!!!!!! *chuckling)

Now..for me

have I ever mentioned how much I despise the HEAT????????????????

DO NOT LIKE IT!!

and we need RAIN RAIN RAIN..
I am seriously considering streaking nekkid through my backyard and doing a happy rain dance and see if I can provoke the rain goddess to unleash the rain drops!
Maybe she will throw some lightening bolts after me just to get me back into the house...hmmm

My back...still hurts

Otherwise...hanging in there...
going to enjoy a nice weekend with my family and ohhhh read the NEW HARRY POTTER BOOK..whoohooooooo

kathy...i would definately lay the ground rule "you throw it you lose it" we do that around here and after something is taken they think twice. my dd started throwing stuff during tantrums and that ended quickly when she lost stuff. computer games are addicting. an inlaw was (actually still is!) addicted to this online game that actually made her become so wrapped up in strangers that she ran off to NYC last summer and did some really stupid stuff. dh quit online gaming after that and we wont let my son play unless his timed and online games are still off limits and he's 14.

susan...thanks for checking on me :)

for myself...i apologize for being gone so long. i did go on vacation the last week of june to las vegas. dh had a work conference. we had fun. on the way down we stopped at some state parks. we saw two cirque du soliel shows named "O" (the water one) at the Bellagio which is jaw dropping amazing & "Mystere" at Treasure Island which is family friendly & funny. we also went to the sigfried and roy secret gardens to see the dolphin show & lion habitat. we spent some time at the belligio conservatory. we did some sightseeing and of course dh did some flight time (he just got his private pilot's license for small planes) but i stayed on the ground. we did some shopping. i was able to catch up on my sleep. i had some amazing desserts. i did a lot of walking but truly appreciated valet parking. i saw madam tussad's wax museum, watched street performers at the venetian along with hazelnut gelato & listening to serenades of those riding in gondolas. i saw my dad whom i hadnt seen in a year. i saw my bil who i hadnt seen in a year...our days of traveling changed and sil was gone with my nephews to the rodeo and wasnt home so i was able to track down her husband at work. (he's a police officer in the area we used to live in before moving here) i bought a big painting for my fireplace. i bought myself some jewelry. the time we were in vegas dh's aunt i hadnt seen in 6 years came with her new husband. (dh had seen her last year at a family funeral i was unable to attend out of state) we had so much fun together. the weather was hot and up to 110 degrees but i survived. now when it is hot here i tell myself i'm being wimpy.

now that i am home we are doing DIY renovations. we ripped down a ugly drop ceiling in the kitchen. now it has recessed lighting. we then added recessed lighting above our fireplace. currently i'm attempting to refinish & paint our kitchen cabinets then i will replace the countertops, paint the walls, & replace the floors in the kitchen, dining area, & hallway. i also plan on refinishing the window trim and bathroom cabinets, replace the light fixtures & accessories, and paint the walls. if i'm brave maybe replace the floor with tile. the list doesnt seem to end so i wont bore you further LOL

my eating is better than usual but exercise is basically strength or stretching. i fell off our concrete front stairs over a week ago and just now getting back on track. (i fell in the dark on a toy left on the stairs...my ego was bruised as bad as my body LOL) my knee hurts a little still if i kneel on it but the rest of me is better now. considering how i fell i'm lucky i didnt break something.

well its late and i'm exhausted. my new furniture for my family room comes tomorrow and i still need to move some stuff and clean some for the delivery guys. currently i'm using patio chairs to sit on and the old furniture was difficult to get in and out of with my bad knees. hope you all have a great weekend.

Diane, My husband did step in last night. At that point I walked away from the situation, because I knew I would just be yelling and that would not help the situation. The problem is that stupid computer game is his whole life. I think he is on it to much. But I am the only one who sees that. Even his Mother does not want to be bothered. I am going to make it quite clear to him that if he ever throws anything at me again, he will not get it back. And one more episode like that and he will not be welcome here anymore.

Kathy, I am so sorry to hear that you are having those kinds of problems with your stepson! Can his father do anything to help?

Here's a story for him, if he will listen. My son was addicted to online video games a few years ago, when he was just starting college. He would stay up until the early morning, and didn't get homework and studying done.

Of course he ended up failing his classes, and lost his student loan eligibility as well. Now he is back in school, just startin his 3rd year at the age of 28, because of all the time wasted when he was younger. (And still living at home because of this.) He still plays online, but now school is his priority!

Hopefully, your stepson will not become as addicted as my son was! And good luck on the car situation, too! Everything always does seem to happen at once, doesn't it? Hang in there, and remember that we are all here for you!

Susan, I wish I was getting a lot of green beans. Unfortunetly the deer are eating my plants. And I live in town. Appearently since we have not had much rain they are having a hard time finding food in the woods.

Ok my day seems to be going from bad to worse. It started last night, when Step son and I got into a huge fight. He was pissing around getting ready for bed, so I said maybe he needs to start getting off the computer 15 mins earlier. He threw a major fit. At one point he threw his PSP at me, and I thought he was going to come after me physically. Well needless to say I had a hard time getting to sleep.

I am really tired today. Then DH calls me at work to say there is something wrong with our one vehicle. I may have to go pick him up after work, because the radiator is leaking really badly. Plus our other vehicle has an oil leak and needs to go into the garage. I am afraid to see what will happen next.

Sorry no time or energy to workout today.

9 MORE DAYS! Good luck, have a blast! My girlfriend met her hubby online a couple of years ago, a couple of girlfriends did the same actually...

150 is not my ultimate goal...I think 145 will be or perhaps 140...but I like to do smaller increments as it makes me feel like I'm making progress faster when the goals are broken down. Guess I'd best go change my ticker!

Thank you both - the first time in a long time I have not gained weight during TOM.

I sent Susan a quick SparkMail to track her down - she's been MIA for nearly a week and I miss her babbling.

Heather - have a great trip ... is that GOAL weight I see your ticker at??? Weigh to go!!!

Kathy - congrats on your shrinking frame!!

Well ... 9 more days until my face to face meeting with man-friend (as my DD calls him). I am getting a little less nervous about the meeting. He seems to think it will go well and lead to something ongoing (As do I deep down inside - the main advantage of doing nothing but talking and e-mailing for 6 months is that you get to know someone on a deeper, significant level).

Have a great day all - Juli

Weighed in this morning at 150! That's another 2 lbs..not sure how it happened or if it will last but I'll take it! Funny thing is, the only change I've made is to start walking on the street more often rather than hiking through the woods...my walk is shorter and much easier...bodies are funny things huh?

I may be scarce for the next couple of weeks as we are heading down east tomorrow but I will check in when I get back and let you all know how many lbs the lobster, mussels, and beer packed on!

Juli, congrads on losing 3 pounds. My scale seems to be stuck. I am not to concerned, because the workouts I am doing are adding muscle. I am losing a lot of inches. I will probably measure myself this weekend to get a better picture on how I am doing.

Kathy - great job on the workouts! I still struggle with regular pushups - I can do the half ones, but the full pushups kill me.
I managed to lose 3 pounds this week and that was with TOM.
Hvae a great night all - I'm hitting the sack early so I can get to the gym tomorrow.

Beachbella, definetly measure yourself. Last month I lost only a couple pounds, but I lost major inches.

I slacked off a bit last week, but now I am ready to bring it. I ran 2 miles after work tonight. Then I did my P90X workout for an hour. I am surprised how quickly I am progressing. I did 33 regular pushups tonight.

My daughter can't wait for the Harry Potter book either. Shes planning on going to the party at the bookstore as well.

Congrats on the weightloss! Way to go.

Hope everyone is having a super weekend. I bought my new sneakers today.

Heather - WOO-HOO and Congrats!!!

I am so watching the clock at work today - I can't wait to get out of here - I hate working and feeling crampy - I wish it were next weekend already when my new Harry Potter book will be here and I can just curl up and drink tea all day.

Did you see the spark article on carbs it shows what ones are good to have alot of the time, some of the time and very seldom. Check it out if you haven't.

You may be on a plateau and thats a normal thing and being there for several weeks or longer is a normal thing. Try increasing your water, eating a different food or foods and changing up your exercise abit. One, two or all may help you out.

Also recheck your calorie range with spark perhaps it needs to be changed. I noticed as I lose weight mine changes abit.

I've settled on 1300-1400 calories right now, but some days I'm getting less.

Rooting for you.

I am not losing any inches either! I did at first, during early June, but I have been the same for several weeks now. My upper arms have not lost any at all. Maybe I'm losing inches in the rolls on my back where I don't measure! lol

Well, I'm not giving up, but it may take me longer than I thought to reach my goal.

My treat to myself when I came home was Ovaltine and cinnamon toast. But ... I actually had a dream about the rocky road ice cream in the freezer at work. I really hate TOM.

JVFLA I'm right there with you. I actually gave in and had the the fries at. I am under for the day still but only by like 80 calories. But heck this time of the month just is the worst with the cravings. I'm hoping next month it is better. Like you I'm glad I don't have the ice cream in my house because it would be rough.

UGH - I feel so gross - I have cramps like you wouldn't believe and the Tylenol I took over an hour ago still hasn't kicked in. I really want to down a ton of ice cream to kill the cramps and since I have only had half my calories for the day, I technically could ... good thing I don't have any at home and I'll probably be too lazy to stop at the store on my way home. GRRR - just venting

I am not losing any weight again, and I think I may have a clue. I stay in my calorie range, but the circle graph has been showing my percentages are off - carbs too high. My carbs are still in the correct range of numbers, but in comparison to my protein and fat, they are too much. I am going to watch that more closely.

When I started SP my percents on that graph were always very close to the recommended range, and I was losing weight easily.

I did read an article that said some people react to carbs more than others, and it can make a difference. There was a study where one group did better with low carbs and more fat, and the other group did better with low fat and more carbs. It had something to do with blood glucose levels, but not people with diabetes or anything like that.

I know I am one of those who react to carbs by wanting more, and getting sleepy, so maybe it's connected.

Good Morning everyone. Just got back from a mini vacation and thought I would check in. My sister and I took my mother to Tunica MS for her 79th birthday to play the slot machines. I managed to totally stay away from the buffets, which was really tough, and managed to stay on the diet plan. It was tough to find sensible things to eat because in those places everything is fried, or has a ton of cheese and sauces on it. We got a bit creative with our requests to the waiters, and managed to do great. It was hard sitting there eating my grilled chicken salad and my mom had a patty melt and fries, but I did it. The good news was that at weigh in this morning, I was down 3 more pounds. It is very exciting.

Best of luck to everyone, keep the faith.

Good Morning everyone...

OUCH OUCH OUCH..
I just fell over two darn chairs that were folded up and laying on my darn living room floor....pfftttt

I have to go to my last PT until I see the back doctor next week....
and now I seem to be just leveling out, except my right leg seems to be longer and my hip is tilted forward...yep...hmmm ....

all the things I get to work on to try to get myself back into line..is almost FUNNY

but the back pain even though NOT as bad as it was is still there and constant!!!

once I get moving it is bearable but once I stand or sit still for even ten or more minutes I am not a happy camper.

I mean..I can workout and get all warmed up and I feel AWESOME, but let my muscles cool down and I am like 138 years old!!!

it SUCKS!!!

I just do NOT know what to do. Of course the PT is great, but once i see this back doctor again I will decide if I need to find me another one. I haven't taken to him soooooooooooooooooooo..we shall see

LOVE THE STORY!!!

Glad to hear Jackie is doing so great..

and Heather, you have always been a quite determined young woman so I am not worried about your two pounds, it seems your body is already were it wants to be even if you aren't quite so happy with it...I may be wrong, but I think it is in its range of being happy. So you are going to have to decide if you are going to struggle with your weight, or if you are wanting to go into a maintenance and be happy with the range..which should be about a 2 or 4 pound range.

But you would know best how you feel best! And that of course is the main thing as always.

well..I have to get going, since I am slower then usual..*sigh

I will check in later this evening

HUGS and love

Susan

The Daffodil Principle

Several times my daughter had telephoned to say,
"Mother, you must come to see the daffodils before they are over."
I wanted to go, but it was a two-hour drive from Laguna to Lake Arrowhead
"I will come next Tuesday", I promised a little reluctantly on her third call.
Next Tuesday dawned cold and rainy. Still, I had promised, and reluctantly I drove there. When I finally walked into Carolyn's house I was welcomed
by the joyful sound of happy children. I delightedly hugged and greeted my grandchildren.
"Forget the daffodils, Carolyn! The road is invisible in these clouds and fog, and there is nothing in the world except you and these children that I want to see badly enough to drive another inch!"
My daughter smiled calmly and said, "We drive in this all the time, Mother."
"Well, you won't get me back on the road until it clears, and then I'm heading for home!" I assured her.
"But first we're going to see the daffodils. It's just a few blocks," Carolyn said. "I'll drive. I'm used to this."
"Carolyn," I said sternly, "Please turn around."
"It's all right, Mother, I promise. You will never forgive yourself if you miss this experience."
After about twenty minutes, we turned onto a small gravel road and I saw a small church. On the far side of the church, I saw a hand lettered sign
with an arrow that read, "Daffodil Garden." We got out of the car, each took a child's hand, and I followed Carolyn down the path. Then, as we turned a corner, I looked up and gasped. Before me lay the most glorious sight.
It looked as though someone had taken a great vat of gold and poured it over the mountain peak and its surrounding slopes. The flowers were planted in
majestic, swirling patterns, great ribbons and swaths of deep orange, creamy white, lemon yellow, salmon pink, and saffron and butter yellow. Each
different colored variety was planted in large groups so that it swirled and flowed like its
own river with its own unique hue. There were five acres of flowers.
"Who did this?" I asked Carolyn. "Just one woman," Carolyn answered. "She lives on the property. That's her home." Carolyn pointed to a well-kept A-frame house, small and modestly sitting in the midst of all that glory.
We walked up to the house. On the patio, we saw a poster. "Answers to the Questions I Know You Are
Asking", was the headline. The first answer was a simple one. "50,000 bulbs," it read. The second answer was, "One at a time, by one woman. Two
hands, two feet, and one brain." The third answer was, "Began in 1958."
"It makes me sad in a way," I admitted to Carolyn. "What might I have accomplished if I had thought of a wonderful goal thirty-five or forty
years ago and had worked away at it 'one bulb at a time' through all those years? Just think what I might have been able to achieve!"
My daughter summed up the message of the day in her usual direct way. "Start tomorrow," she said.
She was right. It's so pointless to think of the lost hours of yesterdays. The way to make learning a lesson of celebration instead of a cause for
regret is to only ask, "How can I put this to use today?"
Use the Daffodil Principle. Stop waiting.....
Until your car or home is paid off
Until you get a new car or home
Until your kids leave the house
Until you go back to school
Until you finish school
Until you clean the house
Until you organize the garage
Until you clean off your desk
Until you lose 10 lbs.
Until you gain 10 lbs.
Until you get married
Until you get a divorce
Until you have kids
Until the kids go to school
Until you retire
Until summer
Until spring
Until winter
Until fall
Until you die...

There is no better time than right now to be happy.
Happiness is a journey, not a destination.
So work like you don't need money.
Love like you've never been hurt, and, Dance like no one's watching.
Wishing you a beautiful, daffodil day!
Don't be afraid that your life will end, be afraid that it will never begin.

Hi all - my eating was atrocious yesterday - someone brought in 3 trays of cuban pastries and put them on the desk next to mine - needless to say I had a few and then moved them away.
I did a whopping 30 minutes on the elliptical today - it's becoming my new favorite!!

Hope everyone has a great day!!

Hi All,
Susan, Jackie is great, looks fabulous and is running all the time! She's fallen away from here and just successfully maintaining on her own.

Got on the scale this morning (figured I should do some damage control) and I'm up 2 lbs. Not significant and this weekend was way off the diet radar. I decided to nip it in the bud today and start logging again. At least until we go on vacation next week. I really need to be back in the habit of salads at drive thrus and increasing water again. Managed an 80 minute hike this morning with a client. We had planned on only 45 minutes but took a wrong trail and got turned around! YIKES! Ahh well, it will justify spaghetti tonight!

Have a great day gals!

Hi! Everyone. Sorry to be MIA. I have been really busy working on a sparkteam that i inherited. But now it is all set up so I can come back here like before.

I hope that everyone had a great holiday!!! I had a quiet day at home-Diane took the kids. It was so peaceful. I needed that.

I think I have pulled myself up out of the pit that I was in earlier this week. Finanally. It feels so silly to stay there when I know how to get out. But sometimes, that pit can have a big grasp on you and you forget what you know!

I am so glad to see how chatty everyone is! I have a lot of catching up to do to see what is going on with everyone!

Sherry Jo - just think of all that activity you are getting in ... I am pretty much just using the food tracker every day and making sure I stay within calories - and if I want a "treat" I allow for it.

Kathy - good for you for pushing through and finishing your workout.

I can feel that TOM is just around the corner for me - I did great on my eating until I got home from work yesterday and then ate everything in sight. I did have a great workout today - I did the elliptical for 15 minutes, the bike for 10 and then worked on legs for a half hour with the trainer. I even threw in an ab machine after the workout for good measure. I was very sweaty to say the least, but I feel great - love those endorphins!!

Have a great day all - Juli

Ok I am not to happy with my scale this week. I have been working out hard 2 hours a day and yet I gained 4 pounds. I hope it is from adding muscle and water retention since it is my TOM.

I was really beat this morning. I think it is from the new meds my doctor put me on. I really had to push to finish my workout.

Sorry I have been MIA for most of this summer. Can you believe it is July? Only 5 more weeks and Tyler is back in school. Going to buy uniforms next week while they are running their early sale.
Wanted to say thanks for all the birthday wishes last week. Went out to dinner with dh and had a nice relaxing time.

Most of last week we were working on our remodeling project and the computer was unplugged a lot due to moving electric wiring. Dh is going to be off from work the next 4 days so he can get this nasty sheet rock work finished. So I probably be mia again. There is so much work to do and I need to help him as much as I can.

I have not been doing well with my eating and considering going back on the WW plan.
What eating plan is everyone following here? Maybe you are making up your own? Like some of your opinions on what your following or maybe something you done in the past?

Going to go and see what the kids are upto....it is very quiet.

The 4th went well. We stayed home so that made it easier to watch what I was putting in my mouth. We both wanted different things for dinner. He wanted hot dogs and I wanted a turkey burger. We both got what we wanted. He ate his hot dogs and I ate my turkey burger. But he still had to eat the veggies.

I agree on the nutitional info that they should have it out. I think they care more about the bottom line then giving people choices on their food.

HELLO EVERYONE!!!

How did your 4th of Julys go - how were the bbqs, picnics and fireworks?

I made chicken for supper and lots of veggies. It was very quiet here. Don was playing golf.

JULI - Boston Market I haven't been there in ages. We don't have one, but maybe one day. I agree with you on places giving out their nutritional info. I wrote to one and told them I wanted to go there, but since they couldn't give me their nutritional info I wouldn't go. Needless to say I think these places need to hear it from alot of people instead of just one.

I love the list and I totally agree with it. I just have to relay it to my brain to help me. There are things on that list that I do.

Thanks for sharing it.

Hope everyone has a super day!

I went to Boston Market last night with mom, and I pre-planned by checking out their website for nutrition info - they list everything - warts and all!! I really get frustrated with restaurants that refuse to provide nutritional info b/c they are national chains and content and calorie count may vary (how much can they really vary and have they ever heard of disclaimers??!!) or because they will give away trade secrets (like anyone will be able to duplicate their chicken primavera deluxe special by looking at calorie count and basic nutrition info).

Those restaurants don't care about us - maybe it's time we stopped caring about them.

Since we just celebrated a day that signifies freedom for the U.S., I thought it would be nice if we celebrated our own freedom - freedom from bad habits, freedom from self-sabotage, etc...

I found this posted on another thread and thought it would be a good start:

"One trend I have noticed is that those people who have low self-esteem seem to have a lot harder time with motivation and consistency than those people with a healthy self-image.

I have worked on my own self-image over the years, and believe this is something anyone can do: improve their own self-worth. There are a lot of tools out there, and it takes time, but it's better to progress than to allow yourself to wallow in self-hatred.

Post your own tips here. I'll start with a few of my own:

1. Eliminate negative self talk. Propogate a positive self image. When you notice yourself calling yourself demeaning names in your own head, i.e. a failure, a loser, stupid, whatever, stop right there and replace this thought with a positive one. One of the ones I'm struggling with right now is the thought that I'm lazy. When I find myself thinking that there are a lot of different thoughts I can use to replace it. Instead of "I'm lazy" I could say "I'm allowing myself to rest because I have been working really hard" or I could say "I already worked out today, I'm not lazy, I'm accomplished" or I could say "I really appreciate this opportunity to relax this evening". What's important is that you notice your own inner dialogue, and guide it to an healthy attitude. You wouldn't allow another person to constantly say those demeaning things to you. You don't have to listen to your inner brat say those things either.

2. Make yourself a priority. Take time to do something you love every week. Do it every day if you can manage it, but at a minimum do it every week. I don't care what it is you love to do, whether playing video games, going to the bookstore, making crafts, but make sure you take time to spend with yourself doing something just for you that makes you feel good.

3. Be kind to yourself, and give yourself a break. Whatever you are upset about, imagine it is your best friend that is telling you their problems. How would you react? Would you tell them they are stupid for getting into this mess? Would you tell them they are worthless and will never amount to anything? I hope not! Tell yourself what you would tell your friend. You are being too hard on yourself. Let the past go, and do what you can do today. You are surrounded by people who care about you and will do what they can to help. (You'd say that to a friend, right? Why don't you say it to yourself for a change?)

4. Make big goals manageable by breaking them up into smaller goals. I can be full of anxiety. And for years I've tried to relax. As a giant vague goal, relaxing is pretty overwhelming, especially when you are high-strung. So instead of focusing on relaxing, I try to do a few small things every day to alleviate stress and tension. Cardio, mediation, yoga, reading, whatever it is, I try to do just a bit each day. Don't worry about doing yoga every day for 30 minutes for a month. Instead, fit in 5 minutes here and there when you can, and in a month you'll notice that you're calmer, almost miraculously so. Now, if you had set the goal of 30 minutes a day for a month, and had acheived 5 or 10 minutes, 5 or 6 days a week, you'd feel like a big failure. But if you just focus on doing a bit every day, you'll see results and you won't even be worrying about it!"

___________________________

So, as a group, we need to address a lot of these items for ourselves as well as each other. If you see a fellow teamie using negative talk or not focusing on themselves as they should, speak up and give them a gentle nudge.

Have a great day all - Juli

Happy 4th everybody and welcome Dottie.

I made sure I got my 58 minute bike ride in today before it is suppose to rain. The wind almost made me turn around and go home half way through it, but I continued on. Figured what the heck I'm out might as well finsh and the fact I just love being out riding.

Happy 4th!!

Dottie, welcome!

Well I have one workout already in today. I did my P90X and my arms are a little sore from the workout. I love the workouts though, because I am really starting to see definition in my arms again.

Hi
Thank you for the welcome! And you know what I worry to because I think its the thing to do and things normally work out that way I find.

So is everyone celebrating today? I'm not because I'm not in the US today. But if I were we probably would be going out to see the fireworks and going to a friends home for a bbq.

Susan I agree TOM should be outlawed. I always double overed in pain and chills to beat the band especially when I was younger. OMG it was awful! I can thankfully say these days that the only thing I have is evidently "sympathy pains" when someone in the family is visited. But thats it and I don't miss it at all.

Have a super day all!

Susan - TOM should be outlawed!!! I always double-up when I go out in public, especially early on. Hopefully you can relax and have a good time!!! And think of all that exercise you are getting cleaning the house ...

Heather - congrats on the new truck!!

Dottie - welcome aboard and thank you for sharing your insight on the long distance dating. I'm so glad it worked out for you - and deep down, I think it will for me as well (I tend to worry about things that I needn't worry about because I'm afraid that if I don't worry I'll find out I should have).

Happy and safe 4th everyone - and watch those BBQ's - did you know that the average food consumed at one BBQ meal is approx 2000 calories and 135 grams of fat!

My computer was so slow yesterday that I totally forgot what I wanted to say...Juli, about the elliptical--5 minutes is awesome, and I think, a pretty typical start time. I got mine after aggressive hiking for 6 months, using a stationary bike at 20mph for 60 and thinking it was easy and still pooped out after 5 minutes. It uses your totaly body so it's tiring at first but you pick up time quickly. Keep it up!

Susan, I understand about public when TOM is here...I hate that ba$+@%)...he makes me feel like crap and is sometimes incredibly embarrassing. Persevere my dear woman, perseverre.

Did I tell you I got a new truck on Friday??? A jeep patriot, it's black and oh so pretty. And the dog fits in the cargo area! Too lovely! She hates it but, she hates mushrooms and lettuce too!

Jackie comes tomorrow! Another long weekend! Thank goodness. I am totally running on empty...vacation in 2 weeks.

Have a good one all,

Heather

Juli I was reading through the discussion threads and thats really exciting that you have someone coming to visit you.

I wanted to share with you that afew years back I came out of a bad marriage. I wasn't looking for a boyfriend, but I was on this website for epals. I sent afew emails to various people and two responded so we corresponded afew times.

Well one of them that responded was divorced like I was, but alittle longer. He was a dad of two, one of them being the same age as my daughter. We emailed back and forth and than he wanted to call me.

I let him call me at my work the first time. We hit it off well in email and on the phone that we were talking all the time. He even got AIM until he could find a phone service for our long distance calls.

Oh did I mention he lived in Canada and I in New Jersey. So we needed long distance phone plans. Anyway he decided he wanted to come visit....just like you I was nervous and I know he was to, but wouldn't say so.

I kept thinking what if he doesn't like me, how can I stop talking to him, you know...well anyway the meeting went well. It was like we had known each other forever. We had a lovely visit.

Than it was my turn to visit him and I went. We visited each other for over a year. Than he asked if I would like to come and see if I liked living in Nova Scotia. I came for a month and well now I'm awaiting my residency paperwork to go through.

But you never know how things may work out.

I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers. Try not to be nervous.

Juli congrats on getting on the elliptical machine. I know the feeling. I had the same problem when I was going to the Y and using the equipment there. Somethings I would wait until the gym cleared abit. I did get into the treadmil though.

Way to go to you!! Keep it up. Five minutes is a great start and its five more than you have done before. Work up to more minutes slowly and soon you'll be up and going strong.

I just found this quote on the Inspirational Quote thread - it really applies to me and I suspect many of you as well - be good to yourself!!

"At this very moment, you may be saying to yourself that you have any number of admirable qualities. You are a loyal friend, a caring person, someone who is smart, dependable, fun to be around. That's wonderful, and I'm happy for you, but let me ask you this: are you being any of those things to yourself?"

Susan - thank you for your rambling - you always know what to say to make me feel better and cry at the same time. Have a great time with your friends this week.

My thoughts on the challenge is that it may be a little too much - they are all good things that we need to be working on for our health, but in the form of a challenge, it may be too many things to focus on - maybe pick one specific thing each week - like walking or finding creative ways to increase fruits and veggies or positive self-talk, etc....

Kathy - congrats on getting in the run

Tami - I bought the book you recommended on Enneagrams for my man-friend (he was the one who introduced me in the first place) and of course I had to read it before I sent it off - it was very enlightening and actually forced me to take a long hard and frightening look at myself (I am a 5). Thx for the suggestion.

Val - I had always hated the dentist until I found a really great one when I lived in MA. He was cute as hell (looked like Paul Reiser) and could have me laughing while giving me a shot of novacain. I haven't even tried to find a dentist down here yet - I'm still in search of a decent doctor - next week I have my 3rd appointment in a year with a primary care physician - hopefully I'll click with this one.

I conquered a fear at the gym this morning - I have always been afraid of the elliptical machines, but people seem to get a really great workout. I keep waiting for there to be less of a crowd so I wouldn't look like an a total a$$, but today I just forced myself to get on one of the last open ones - I kept up a good pace for 5 minutes - not a killer workout by any stretch, but 5 minutes more than I had ever done and I really had to push through the last minute or so. I have also somehow gained speed on the bike and increased from an average of 14 mph to 19 mph. I have also started jogging in place and sprinting across the living room during tv commercials to increase by cardio. Since I don't have to work tomorrow I am going to hit the gym and focus on cardio and climb on the elliptical again.

Have a great day all - Juli

I NEED FEEDBACK LADIES!!!!!!!
These things only work if I know you are using it, not using it, want different things etc etc blah blah blah!!!
I love to do these things but I don't want to do these things if they are just going to sit there...
sooooooooooo....TALK TO ME...!!

VAL VAL VAL..

don't let that toothache get away from you, deal with it now before it turns into something nasty and something really really expensive!!!!!!
And please by all means enjoy your summer and the grandkids..
but but but (heehee..I always have a BUT)...
you still can not forget about YOURSELF..and I mean..
there was a reason YOU JOINED SPARKS..and that means, taking ten or fifteen minutes for yourself each day is NOT to much to ask...
and I mean that!
or every other day...
soooooo enough with the excuses...!

HUGS...and I want to hear more about YOU...and how YOU are doing..

and IF I CAN GET ON A SCALE lady...pfftt...SO CAN YOU....
and if I CAN TAKE CARE OF MYSELF...SO CAN YOU!!

I want you to be as fierce and loving to yourself as you were with YOUR HUBBY...

see you on the thread!!!!

lets face on thing about human nature

we all have what you posted about insecurities (no matter what we look like)
now...some of us are more sensitive and have been hurt in different ways and we do have a different way in dealing with things, therefore we tend to be a little more shy, aggressive, closed off, funnier, sarcastic..or whatever mechanism we chose to "protect" ourselves...

with all of that said...

let us assume for one moment that both of you that are getting ready to meet are BLIND...

In my humble opinion this man is getting a diamond! He is getting the deal of the century. If you were a valuable commodity.
Now in human terms, he is getting one of the most wonderful human beings I have had the pleasure of not only meeting in person, but over the few years having the pleasure of talking too.
You are bright, intelligent, warm, funny. You are fierce when it comes to taking care of your family. You are loyal as a friend. YOU..yes you..have shown that to me..and you have over and over ...and hey..we were strangers...shown that to me in emails..and phone calls...and even in posts online...
and not just with me, but advice to others as well.
Your heart is gold.
And hey hey hey..I am sure you have faults just like the rest of us!!!
We all do...
but we aren't talking about you not being tall or slender here....I am sure you lose your temper..
(yep..I know you had to deal with your DD just like I have had to deal with mine..*sigh)...
I am talking you are simply a decent and wonderful woman..
one that actually deserves to be L O V E D and cared for..

NOW..do you hear my big BUT coming?????

JULI...if you don't believe that..and if you don't feel that in your heart...then you can not open your heart for it and let it in...
so open it...don't be afraid...
because if he doesn't see it...then he isn't the ONE...
and he may not be...
DO NOT SELL YOURSELF SHORT

EVER

NEVER
NEVER
NEVER
you go for what YOU NEED AND WANT
and if he is it..then you go for it and you open that heart of yours and you believe that YOU deserve it ALL, because YOU DO!!!!!!!!!!
Do you understand me??
Your post on your blog says it. It is the same with everything else.
You have to love yourself to take care of your body. You have to love yourself to love someone else. You have to love yourself tooooooooo..etc etc etc..

and it is time, you LOVE yourself the way you are, because well..I DO...
and there are many many that love you the way you are and we wouldn't change a thing about you.
The only reason you need and want a change is to be HEALTHIER..not happier..
HUGS...
okay...
darn..babbling already...

Tami...

you want some hiney kicking???????

because I know..heeheee...you couldn't have possibly said that I would be LYING!!!!

Kathy...

Good morning!

Juli, good luck with the meeting! I am sure that he is just as nervous as you. I don't feel comfortable enough about myself to try something like that, but maybe sometime I will.

Val, I hope your tooth is better. I hate going to the dentist!

I am going to the doctor today for a routine check, and it will be interesting to see how the scale there compares to mine. I hope it's even lower, though!

Val, sorry to hear about your tooth ache. I hope you can get in to the dentist tomorrow.

I had a great day today. I went out and ran 1.45 miles. It was my first run since I hurt my knee. It was a slow run, but my knee felt fine.

Just checking in-but I think someone is lying about it being July-it can't be. I'm just sure of it.

Hope everyone is doing well.

July already - where did the time go??

This month scares me more than all others and here is why - back in January I had rejoined EHarmony and expanded my search to all 50 states and clicked with a guy in California that is also originally from MA. After e-mailing for a couple of months, we graduated to phone calls and we talk every weekend for a couple of hours at a time. Well ... at the end of this month he is flying out here so we can meet and see what the next steps are. Although we have exchanged photos (although mine was a head shot), I have told him I am rubenesque and he has said that at this point he likes me and doesn't care what I weigh (and he has admitted his physical imperfections and insecurities as well) - I can't help but fear that initial meeting and what if he decides to get back on the plane. I know I'm being stupid and insecure b/c deep down inside I feel that we have made a connection that transcends physical appearance (he appreciates me for my unique outlook and attitude and shares similar views). Maybe what scares me the most is that I have never connected this deeply with anyone and it is entirely unfamiliar territory for me.

Thanks for letting me vent - please keep your fingers crossed and send prayers and positive vibes my way.

Juli

Wow July is here already!?! Where is the summer going?

I will weigh in when I get close enough to a scale to stand on it.

I just jumped in to say Hello and to welcome the newbies. WELCOME NEWBIES!!

Sorry I'm not real active at the moment. Summer means lots of grands running around. Plenty of people in and out all day long.

Hey, I got a bad tooth ache.. anyone got a dentist in thier pocket? It hurts so bad I cant eat and drinking is a problem.

Have a great rest of the holiday week team members... get some sun and some exercies and watch those piled plates at all the picinics this week. Load up with fruit and veggies and good proteins before loading up on baked beans, mac salad and potato salad and all them yummy deserts. Then when you are just about done.. eat one little teaspoon of each of your favorites.. Let it rest in your mouth and enjoy the flavors...
Happy Fourth EVERYONE

Hugs
Val

Susan is your Administrator (yes, the Hiney Kicking One!)

And yes,
it would be great if we can have
a Co-ADMINISTRATOR ..anyone interested???

let me know!!

Team Description:
HINEY KICKING support and honesty is our main focus here. Weight loss and our health are important, but we focus on the whole person - through thick and thin.

Meaning very simply we are here to help one another!
We talk pretty much about everything and honesty is key. We do a lot of fun things as well, such as Mini Challenges for those that like some competition or need a kick in the hiney. Our team members range in having to lose a few pounds up to 100 pounds and more. We have some in our early 20's and yes...we have some that are in their 60's.
This is what makes this team AWESOME!!! We have it all! And we like to laugh and have fun...while trying to motivate one another to lose the weight.

Are you ready....let's go....

Susan
