Hi gang!

Mike (DH) and I agreed on appliances, vinyl flooring for the bathroom, and wood laminate for the kitchen. We're getting bigger pieces of the 2 carpet colors we like, so we can decide from more than a 2" by 1" piece. At an impass on the counter-tops- I like one pattern, and he likes another. Back to the drawing board on that one.

Work is crazy, since I wasn't here yesterday, and my boss was thinking of FUN things to do.

Linda- GREAT JOB on that loss. Do you like the glycemic impact plan? I'm interested in it. I like your weekly thread idea. Great job on purging.

Lisa- Great job on getting that letter done! Great job on the loss.

Karen- Glad you enjoyed Thomas.

Liisa- I read yesterday that people who wear pedometers walk 1 mile more per day. I'm wearing it starting tomorrow (I forgot today).

Susan- I was a Fast Fueler! I say focus on the protein and filling up on fruits and veggies. Then work on the details later.

Marge- Great job on the loss. Why did they tell you not to walk at physical therapy? Hills are touch on backs, but light walking usually helps. I would do your physical therapy exercises and do some gentle stretching. Then add the walking as you start to feel better. I threw my back out in February, and I've been walking daily as long as there is no pain, since it helps to keep the muscles loose.

Fern- What age group do you teach?

Susan (MOON)- Hi!
More later.
Robin

Well, it was back to school for me today. I only have 13 students right now. It looks like we have 8 children every day except Wednesday when we have 10. I really don't have a good feeling about this year at all. I am praying we don't have more paydays with no pay. Our boss says she will try to put a "little extra" in each paycheck to make up for the pay we didn't receive in June. It's not looking good.

I did have a wonderful day today as far as eating was concerned. I loved the food too.

Can anyone tell me how to get my picture from the E place and bring it here? I don't have any pictures of myself. I am always taking the pictures so I don't get in them.

I'll try to get back here tomorrow. I exercise with the trainer tomorrow and visit the dietician. We have first aid and CPR all day at school. It should be an exhausting day.

Fern

I thought I posted today...I must be losing my mind.

I have had a headache all day today and it has been raining. So I have not eaten well today. The rain bums me out.

I am going to play pogo and veg for awhile.

Well, I'm down one lb and had an awful week. Payback for all the weeks I worked out hard, ate right, and lost nothing. :-)

I still need to make my sparkpage but I'm swamped. It's on my list.

Linda, do you get to be first here too? :-)

Lisa

Hi all,
Just checking in real quick. Work has been super busy and home is worse. So I have not had time to get on the computer. Sigh. There is so much to explore and so little time. I did lose a pound last week. Now to keep on trucking and keep making those small but permanent changes.

Hi Everybody!
It is another grey day here and supposed to rain again tonight. We had torrential rain here yesterday. However it is cool and has the feel of fall, which I love.
Saturday I went shopping--all over the area--to get some new things for fall. Of course, everyone else in the area went shopping too. Sunday after church, I stayed with a few others and cleaned out the Sunday School closets. The treasures we found were amazing. We have enough crayons, pencils and ball point pens to fulfill the needs of most of the children in Plainville for the year! We also came across several boxes of expensive oil pastels, some calculators, lots of ribbon and sissors and a lot of other stuff. We had a school in the building for a couple of years and I guess they just left their supplies here.
Once I came home I cleaned closets in the kitchen and did some reading. It was a good weekend.
We just had birthday cake here for two of us who have birthdays--one yesterday and one today. It's a tradition and a very nice one. Did have a piece of cake, but other than that I have been good. I was down 1/2 pound when I weighed in today. It's not much but it is going down, not up.
I do have a problem and any suggestions are welcomed. This spring I injured my back. It has been determined that it is "only" muscles, but after 4+ months I went to the doctor and he sent me to physical therapy. They have told me to stop my lunch time walks as they are undoing the good done in therapy. Wouldn't you know--just when I had gotten back in the routine of walking every day now I have to stop. I am looking for ways to exercise to help me avoid putting weight on. They will have to be fairly quiet ones but any suggestions would sure help.
I have handbell choir at the church tonight. This is a new group as of last June. We played for the first time in public a couple of weeks ago. It is fun to learn something new and have it sound so good.
I need to go record my food now.
Hope everybody has a wonderful day!

emoticon Linda on the weight loss.

Susan the recipe sounds good. I am going to print it out to try.

Many things are going on here and I have to make a trip to the school to talk to Tyler's teacher. Sometimes I get so tired of having to talk to teachers about Tyler's ADHD stuff. He is well behaved it is the inattention that gets him most of the time. Enough complaining I am not going to let this get me down school has been in only 2 weeks I need to stay positive. Of course my attitude might change after this talk.
Well need to run and get ready.

I just got this from Cooking Light.com It's making my mouth water. Yummy!!

Pressed Cubano with Bacon

1 teaspoon extravirgin olive oil
1 garlic clove, minced
4 (3-ounce) Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half horizontally
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
8 (1/2-ounce) slices reduced-fat Swiss cheese, divided
4 bacon slices, cooked and halved
12 dill pickle slices
2 teaspoons minced fresh cilantro
6 ounces thinly sliced 33%-less-sodium ham
2 ounces thinly sliced deli roasted turkey breast

Combine oil and garlic.
Spread cut sides of rolls evenly with mustard. Place 1 cheese slice, 2 bacon halves, 3 pickle slices, and 1/2 teaspoon cilantro on bottom half of each roll. Divide ham and turkey evenly among bottom halves of rolls; top each serving with 1 cheese slice and top half of roll. Brush garlic oil evenly over outside of rolls.

Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add 2 sandwiches to pan. Place a cast-iron or heavy skillet on top of sandwiches, and press gently to flatten. Cook 3 minutes on each side or until cheese melts and bread is toasted (leave cast-iron skillet on sandwiches while they cook). Repeat with remaining sandwiches.

Yield: 4 servings (serving size: 1 sandwich)

I find this very interesting... I just took the Diet Profile Quiz and I am just about equally spread between the four types of Dieters described. I got 5 Diamonds for Emotional Eater and 4 Diamonds each for Fast Fueler, Portion Distortioner, and Carb and Calorie Crazed. The first two don't surprise me; the last two do. I guess I need to pay more attention to what I am doing. I need to break out that food journal and really start using it this time. I also read the article " 4 keys to a smart nutrition plan." It's a good enough article, but it leaves me with a lot to do and a lot to plan. At the end it gives 4 points to focus on. I think I want to focus on one of them - POWER FOODS - first. It says high protein, high fiber, low cal and complex carb for lunch is the best. Whew! That seems like a pretty tall order to me right now, but if I do some research, I'm sure I'll be able to come up with something. I wish the article would have given some examples at least so that I would have a starting point. Oh well. I'll figure it out.

Off to look around the site some more!! See you later.
