Hi Joanne, I am glad the water is running for you. Down here in N.C we were lulled into believing it was spring a few weekends ago, but last 4 or 5 days have been cool and cloudy, and very wet. It was spitting snow yesterday. ( A saying I can use and people who live in snow bound states know what I mean) My husband doesn't understand the two, spitting snow and flurries are two different things!

I have been getting allot of movement in but not workouts, My almost 3 month old grandson is already scooting on his knees and few inches at a time, so this nanny has got to baby proof allot of stuff. My poor little darling has been sick with a tummy bug since Saturday, His mommy brought his to me last night at midnight and asked for help... we had to give him some pedalite (sp) every 10 to 15 minutes. He is at the Dr's now, I am hoping he is over the worse of it now and cam go back to his formula.

I have to tell you Joanne, I am very proud of you! Allot of people who just give up after losing a spouse ... I love how you have not.... I am honored to know you!!

Small steps, but everyday!

The sun is bright and I believe Spring has sprung. We'll have water running in the streets today. Good! They will be dry and available for walking exercise in a few weeks. My mental well-being is affected somewhat with the weather. If my husband were still alive we would have gone South for Winter months, but I can't manage to do that alone.

The SparkPeople.com site has been a boost to my mental health this winter. Blogging & Tracking has been a daily enjoyment. . . .. . . I even got a new digital scale for the bathroom and a lovely digital food scale for my kitchen. My recipe collection has benefited from my interest in calorie altering/tweaking of old tried & true family favorites and trying new ones from the Spark Recipe section. I've attended Silver Sneakers classes at our local Club Fit facility, read some great books, played 500, Whist & Bingo each week. I've met with club members & attended board meetings of organizations I belong to. The dark season is over and I managed to survive, so "HELLO Spring"!!!

Hi Joan, I am so sorry for you weather, but I do remember long wet winters. I lived in Maine until 10 years ago. Spring here is a guessing game. Last Saturday was 72 degrees, last night we had thunder and lightening, and they are saying Thursday we could have snow flurries with temps in the 30's. But our daffodils, and flowering trees are all blossomed and looking beautiful.
Your right about this place being a great place to come to when you need that extra help. Your doing great!!!

How I envy you your Spring. I have been snowed in for 4 days. Terrible winds & only 8 degrees tonight. It is supposed to let up tonight. Interstate #94 has been shut down . . . . .our streets here in town haven't been plowed for 3 days, schools closed last Friday & Monday, but I see on my computer Minneapolis Tribune digital newspaper school notices that they plan to start 2 hrs late tomorrow. So they will be plowing roads when the wind goes down during the night.

I've been on SparkPeople.com often during this bad weather. This site is a strong guide to transforming my way of healthy living and extending my lifeline.

Keep Sparkin'

My clothes are starting to hang on me now, but I am not buying anything new until I can't keep them on. My daughter told me I was in style with baggy bitches.

Great work Joanne! The protein latte sounds delicious. It feels so good to slip into previously tight clothes.

emoticon Sugar!

I got out my protein powder, skim milk, Splenda, ice cubes, vanilla flavoring and cold coffee to blend up for a Latte. . . . . . . .keeps me out of other things and counts as part of my water.

The scale is not going down much, but my pants are almost falling off. I'm not going to buy anything new for spring, maybe just find some things that were tight last summer.

Remember why you had the surgery, take a look at what has you going off track, time management, kids stressing you out, job stressing. Make the time for you to sit down and see what was going on when you go off track. You have come to far to fall into the old bad habits.

I met with my personal trainer yesterday and reviewed my food diaries with her. The message, more protein! This will be my focus this next week. I'm looking for ways to increase my protein without adding a lot of calories. Step one - making hard boiled eggs today. Also bought some deli turkey - I paid more for the high quality, low sodium type.
