I measure monthly and weigh weekly. Last year I only lost 12 lbs but 16 inches! So it does help with motivation and really is the true measure of healthy weight loss because we can't forget about the muscle we gain!

You don't always get what you wish for.
You get what you WORK FOR!!!!
I've heard this message too, many times. I haven't done any measurements in a long time - I'll have to ask one of the trainers at the gym to do that for me, so I have a new baseline to work from.
Great post- thanks!

As a slow loser, I found this article very interesting: www.livestrong.com/article/404480-ca
I've had lots of people: my surgeon, dietician and personal trainer tell me that my slow weight loss is probably because I exercise, including weight training, and that this will be great in the long run. Somehow, seeing this in writing, and the explanation given makes it seem more real and less like an excuse!
I have lost 2 sizes in the past two months, even with a modest weight loss of 6-8 pounds (i've been bouncing around on the 2 pounds for two weeks now) during the same timeframe.
