I know what you mean, even when a person is in the hospital and it's right down the street, it seems like by the time you get ready, go over, spend some time with them, then come home, half the day is gone - zip! just like that. So when you have to travel I can just imagine how exhausting it can be.
You really have a lot on your plate every day -- lots of people don't realize how hard it is to live/work on a farm and still keep up with all the other social obligations that kids incur! You are doing an amazing job!
It seems I don't have nearly as much time to read lately, do you?

Thanks Eve. The trip is 4 hours round trip, 2 hrs there and 2 back, but still that is 4 hours away from home, plus visiting time. Yes, we live on a farm and we are calving right now. Busy times. Plus my sister in law has a 2 wk old baby, so she can't help with their dad right now either. We're hopefully bringing him home for swing bed in our "home town" hospital 25 miles away, the town where his doctor is. 1 hr of driving is much better than 4 hrs. He is steadily getting better, but will probably be moving into assisted living after this hospital stay.
Life is busy with the kids too. Today alone is an orthodontist appointment at 5 for my son and my daughter's 6pm dance class, plus she has volley ball practice this morning and he has swing choir practice this afternoon. Thankfully we have people helping with rides and the kids are going to the sister in law's house when they are done. She is looking forward to having a couple of extra hands to help with the baby! :)

I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad -- and when you have to drive for 4 hours, visit, then turn around and go back home it is especially tiring! Of course the ideal thing would be if you could just go there, get a motel and stay for a few things. Unfortunately, until a person is retired, sometimes that just isn't possible. Also, can't remember if you live on a farm or not. Animals like to be fed "every" day!
Going to help my daughter out would have been almost impossible if I didn't have DH to take care of Amber & Luci while I was gone. Cats don't travel well, in fact Luci seems to go bezerk!
Do hope that your Father-in-law gets better. Hugs to you! (and to your hubby)

Have a wonderful time Eve. I am headed to visit my father in law in the hospital 120 miles away. This is the 3rd time in 4 days we've driven down there to see him. 4 hrs in the car and a few hours in the hospital make a long day. He's getting better and home soon, we hope.
Happy Easter!

Well, I'm at my daughters -- so far my packing has been her extra clothing and stuff out of the bathroom. I'm just trying to clear one spot at a time and see how it goes.

I thought I was pretty smart when it came to Word -- but guess I still have a few things to learn. As long as we keep learning, we keep living. Thanks again.

Eve, keep CTRL + Z in mind the next time that happens. It's the UNDO function and puts things back where they belong. I can't tell you how many time it's saved my butt.

I just wrote about 3 paragraphs and then clicked something wrong and it disappeared. I hate that so much! Aaargh! Feel my pain?
Anyway, vacation over and now we've made it through Thanksgiving -- with not too many big plans for Christmas. With trepidation I stepped on the scale this morning, prepared for the worst, but hoping for the best. 139. I was almost shocked, but pleased. I've stayed in the 130's through a big holiday meal. And when I'm at my daughter's for some reason I'm always tempted to eat things I shouldn't.
Also started a book by Tami Hoag, a new author for me. It's called Dark Paradise -- one of those that start off with a scene that apparently seems to have nothing to do with the story. You don't know who they are writing about and how the scene ends. And then the actual book starts. Will have to see how it goes from here.
Hope everyone enjoyed a terrific Thanksgiving!

I have a Kindle Fire and love it. I still read lots of regular books, not just on there. :)

I'll check them both out. I don't think Amazon.com will take over the world, but Obama might.

Yes, I've been thinking about getting a Kindle, just so I could have more books with me in a smaller space.

I much prefer books to ereaders, but ereaders do have the advantage of holding multiple books with no extra space.

I just noticed that we don't have an official place on this team to "chat" -- a place where we can talk about anything and everything without having to make a new topic. So now we have one.
I just wanted to tell you I'm happy to be back home and getting back to normal. I took only one book with me -- finished it and had about 4 days with nothing to read. Really miss being able to read at least a few pages before going to sleep. So now I can start a new book too!
Have a great day! Hugs, Eve
