Love the story Joanna! And what a wonderful story for both of you to be together again. I am in Kansas near the CO border. We have CO nights and KS days which right now equates to 45-50 at night and 90's during the day. I fell two weeks ago (see blog) and am still recuperating. The chiropractor told me to start walking and get up to four miles per day. My husband is walking with me and we are slowly increasing our distance. Hopefully it won't get cold too soon. I am a fair weather exerciser and need the mild temps! We are also enjoying the farmers market with fresh cantaloupe, watermelon and other veggies though many of the veggies are done for the year. I'll enjoy the fruit until that supply quits! I think I'll go have a slice of watermelon now! have a great day/evening! Glenda

Someone mention that word so soon (WINTER). Even the thought of winter coming around makes me worry. Just kidding...I too see the changes here already. I mentioned to my husband the other day how some of the trees are already shedding. Another worry for me is that time is flying along. There is not enough time in a day to get everything done, and by the time you get around to doing it all time has slipped away. One year to five and then a decade is gone…and I didn’t realize it. Seems like only a few months have gone by.
I do think it might be a mild winter though at least here in Michigan. Another fact that scares me…since we need the winter cold and snow to freeze the crops for a better return next spring. Alfalfa does not fair good without the cold weather. We had such a drought this year I am hoping we get a cold spell and some snow for the crops. We have been out all day taking down branches..well not me, I never do that the hubby is doing it. I on the other hand decided to get on my horse for the first time in many years. My youngest grand daughter and her friend could not wait to encourage me on..or at least push me a little here and there. I’ll help you get up gran Savanna said…I thought to myself If I fell on her I would squash her little body so she was the last one I wanted there to help me get on or off. I brushed down the blind girl while the girls brushed her legs for me. I cleaned out her eyes…she gets the buggers in them. Then I put on a saddle pad and my saddle. It’s been years since I sat in my saddle but it felt good throwing it up on her back. She didn’t flinch. I walked her out to the arena…and around a couple of minutes so she could breath and I could recheck the saddle girth ( the girth is what goes under to belly to hold on the saddle for those of you that don’t know). I tightened it another couple of inches..good think..putting my leg up in the saddle could have brought it right down on me.
I stood there for a minute thinking how nice it would be just to put in my left foot and swing over the saddle …since it was my right foot that was injured, however thinking about the weight that I packed on I didn’t want to look too foolish so I decided to walk her to the mounting block and step the two steps up and just step on and over her. We were doing fine so far, I caught the grin on the faces of Savanna and her friend Mell. I started walking around the arena keeping my mare to the fence rails. I used my legs a little to test them and see how they felt against her body. Not to back, but my knees were not that comfortable and for some reason had a twinge of pain running through them. New knees can’t under that concept but it was there. After a couple of complete arena walks I decided to see if I could use my legs to get her to do turns and corners….so we did some turns in all four corners and a reverse in the same pattern…still only walking. Then I decided to do some figure eights and take her through the cones…since she can’t see it’s up to me to guide her and I was using my legs pretty good. I wasn’t feeling off balanced but I was a bit nervous I did not know how I would react if she acted up or decided to test me. She was holding on like an angel for both our sakes maybe. After about 20 minutes I decided to try to trot….Ouch…I wish I didn’t do that right then. Not that anything went wrong…but my knees hurt, my foot hurt when I tried to post and the bounce made my lower back feel like it was splitting in two. Oh so out of shape. In any other case if the bounce is too much I would go into a posting trot… (rising up and down on the horse), but my foot would not take the constant rise so I had to sit the trot and once I told her to trot it was not that easy to get her to stop. My grand daughter was laughing out loud now…she was saying gran you should have wore your bra…your boobs are bouncing all over the place. I had on my bra thank you very much. I had to get back down into the walk before I fell of laughing. I walked for another few minutes and got off…….but getting my leg over the horse to get off was not as easy as it was when I got on. Bottom line is I DID IT and I LOVED IT…going to do it again tomorrow if I can manage to walk.

I am feeling like this is becoming my daily blog..rather than a team effort. Oh well I will take advantage of it and pass the time of day.
I had a slow day today not much happening. I do want to say it could have been better. We did get rain and hopefully it will continue. Living on a farm we can not ignore what the crops need more than anything else is sun and rain.
I am hoping to get in a little more movement by tomorrow.....I will let you know how it turns out.

I haven't been feeling very good for the last couple of days...and although I am on medication for both Blood Pressure and Cholesterol...my face was all flushed and red as a beet. One the other hand I had no energy at all.....I take a special IRON pill so I don't know what the problem is ...I will have to call the doctor and get in for a check up.
I do hope you are all feeling well and enjoyed your holiday weekend. Back to school tomorrow.

I had a wonderful birthday today. I spent the weekend at a horse show with the grandkids. Today for the first time in a long time all my kids showed up together with their kids and a couple of nieces and nephews came out with a birthday cake and presents to make sure they didn’t miss my birthday. Thank goodness we had that camper out there…but it was so full we had people outside on the grounds. The best part was they were there to see the grandkids ride…and seeing my oldest get her 1st place ribbons again was my best gift ever. Having the family there to share and cheer them on topped it off…like whip cream on a sundae. I’ve got lots of photos to share and will do up a blog…as soon as I get some rest.

What a day today. I was out in the barn even cleaned a few stalls. I gave a riding lesson to my granddaughter. Her three year old horse is doing wonders….and she was exceptional at her second show of the season. Both of them…that is. I did sneak away and get to my massage therapist DIANE….oh how I missed her. I had a little bit of sinus settling in my head and she managed to loosen it and I felt so much better after an hour with her.
I bought my sister a nook color for her birthday with a gift card to put on her account to buy nook books from Barnes and Nobel. I also bought her a coach purse from the outlet mall. She is like a little kid tickled pink….I am glad I could put a smile on her face. She was in a depressed stage…saying she didn’t want to turn 60. Well it’s over now and no turning back so hopefully she feels better.
This evening we went to Wal-Mart together. I never buy groceries at Wal-mart but she wanted some coffee and cream so I fell for it. I walked out with 418.00 in groceries….and I haven’t a clue what the heck I bought. Three different kind of tea, her and her greens, special this and special that…I sure hope she cooks it all and it doesn’t get thrown out like the majority of the food around here. Oh well it’s only money right…when I run out we starve.
The kids caught a couple of roosters in our hay field….we built a coop for them and I swear they are right outside my window….within 30 feet right next to the rabbit’s cage. I am going to wake up one morning and shoot those suckers….they are driving me nuts with that crowing. Did I tell you that a little wild rabbit kept sneaking in our rabbit cage…it was so small it could fit between the chain link fence. The girls caught it and we put it in a cage feeding it and playing with it…now it is as tame as our personal rabbit’s. We are waiting for the little thing to get big enough it won’t get through the fence. Then we will let it loose to run with the other two. We watched it for days….coming and going. I think it came to play and eat with our bunnies.

Just got in for the night all the horses are bedded down and it’s time for me to crawl under the sheets. It’s been a long weekend the weather was great, the kids had a blast and everything went off without any problems. We got the horses back home safely. I am so proud of my girls both of them. They work so hard and when you get great results it is the icing on the cake that makes it all worth it. The new horse was Peanut (Apollo’s Legacy) our little 3 year old that just got broke this summer. This was her second show this summer and she did fantastic. The judge even comment about the ability of my youngest granddaughter being able to control her and keep her quiet in the ring.
I think I got a chance to put on a miles walking back and forth, with all the lifting, bending, washing, transferring and what not, I think I did quite a balancing act with my exercising routine. I was pretty amazing myself just keeping up. Seen a lot of old friends and had a great time. The girls are all geared up for next weekend’s horseshow. Same arena so it should go off without any hitches also. Then only one more show in September before the Nationals in Oklahoma in October. I will sit down and share pictures and stories with you after I get a nights rest.

Good for you...keep up the good work.
I am heading back home after being on a two week business trip overseas. I am about to get on a 20 hour plane ride back to the states. I am so looking forward to landing in NEW YORK then home to MICHIGAN. I am sure I will have jet lag for a couple of days but once I am through I will be setting goals for me that are short and easy to reach. One day at a time.

One more day and I will be on my way home. Yahoo…my own bed, I am so looking forward to getting home. Loved the trip and secured some good accounts for income next year but as Dorothy said there is no place like home. I am missing the girls, the horses, and the farm, oh and the hubby too. Can’t forget him he is my number one squeeze. I picked up some good gifts at great prices here for everyone. I can’t wait to share a few of the pictures with you.
On the bad side of the trip…I had a terrible time trying to connect the seat belt and once it was connected it seem to born into my lower stomach. I ask for an extender but no they did not have one on an international flight. Go figure!
I have so much reading and catching up to do in order to know what’s going on around here. New faces, new chatter and so much going on. I heard the week of horse camp went along great. I had to miss it being called away, but I will get the lowdown as soon as I get home. I miss you all and can’t wait to get back into the groove of things.

Did someone say the words GIVE UP...I thought that was out of our vocabulary. The reason to be here is because we have not given up....we strive for more or better or further, or higher...just set smaller goals and we can all get there gradually.

Hello everyone, I have missed you all. I don’t have time to catch up on all the chatter as I am still out of the country. This was my first chance to really sit down and check in at all. I do see there are some new faces and names around. I want to welcome everyone new and hope you are all finding your way around. I will be back in the states new week and hopefully have a better chance to get to know you. To all my SPARK friends I hope you are doing great and that you are keeping up with the challenges and trying to make some headway for a healthier you.
Just wanted to drop by and tell everyone we are having great fun here in Dubai. The weather is hot but with air conditioning everywhere we are not suffering at all. My granddaughter Alexandra is getting in a lot of shopping while here since gold is valued higher here at 18 and 24 K….rather than 10 or 14K there in the states. They are also big on the blue and yellow diamonds which are hard to find in the states. Good investments I think for the future something she can enjoy now and use later on if need be.
We went out into the desert yesterday evening to have dinner in a tent….it was actually very elegant believe it or not. I had a hard time getting down but once there I was very comfortable, it was getting up I had the hardest time of. Monday we are off to Abu Dhabi and stay there for the rest of our trip. I have a client there I have to see for work. I am looking forward to staying there I have not really had a chance to see much of that area before. Lots of building going on everywhere over here. The good news is lots of money to still be made.
Everyone have a wonderful weekend and stay safe. I miss my horses, my kids, and Michigan.

Hello, I am embarking on a new journey starting tomorrow. I am calling it a serious six week fitness and healthy eating plan. I have been diagnosed with high cholesterol, and I do have controlled (with meds) high blood pressure. I am looking at the big picture in small segments with short term goals to motivate me on to my ultimate goal weight. I welcome all suggestions and tips. Looking forward to reading everything Spark has to offer. I wish you all much success!

It’s been raining here off and on for a few days…plus we are going to get quite a bit of rain this coming week. Not that l like the rain so much but the crops love it. I think we are going to be able to get a second cutting if this keeps up in a couple of weeks. Second cutting meaning….we will cut our hay fields for the second time this year and bale the hay for the horses. If all goes well we have a few weeks left in the season to even get a third cutting. Woohoo! Plus the weather is a little cooler at 80 rather than 95 plus….you can’t imagine how nice that feels out there, well I’m sure you can we all don’t like the extreme heat. It’s not good for the horses or humans.
We’ve been working young horses, well not we the grandkids have been breaking three different young horses and I am amazed at how well they are doing without me. In fact I was out there yesterday trying to give advice and my granddaughter told me to sit and watch or get in the house. Not that I like that attitude toward me but I do like it toward the horses. She knows her business.
I will be out of the country the first week of August I have a business meeting to attend overseas. As soon as I get back I have two back to back horse shows that I will be attending with the grandkids. One in Indiana, the other here in Michigan, both pretty big shows for the Arabian Circuit and I am hoping we do well in them both.
The hubby is working on the barn still, he rebuilt new flooring in most of the stalls and is not working on putting in another stall for the warm blood. My granddaughter thinks his stall is going to be two small for him come next year. He is a big boy but I think a 10 X 10 stall is fine, not her …she wants him to have a 10X 20. We went through all this last summer when she altered two other stalls for two of her horses. She took three stalls and made them into two…giving her horses a 10 X 15, now she wants a brand new 10X20. I guess there is no problem as long as we have the space. She is also talking about putting in 10 more stalls in the new barn that was put up last fall. We have the lumber and the doors but it is so time consuming to keep up with her needs. I still don’t have the new arena fencing she requested in the spring.
The youngest granddaughter learned how to drive my scooter this past weekend…and now she wants it all for herself. I swear I can’t keep anything for myself anymore. I did take a couple of cute pictures of her on it. I am expecting tomorrow to be a fun filled day with the grandkids, horses and a BBQ dinner with family.
Has anyone been part of a community garden project? I am thinking about having a community garden project next season or maybe start one this season. I am curious as how it might work out so if you have been or know about it let me know. I don’t have a green thumb but there are so many that do and if I invest in the seeds or starter plants maybe I can get some of the green thumbs to do the labor and we can all share in the outcome. After all I have enough land to share it a bit with others. I am not too far out of town that they could not come and care for it. Any suggestions or am I blowing smoke?

It’s Sunday night and I am home from my weekend getaway. The lodge was beautiful over all but the rooms were a little disappointing. We had the most expensive suite there and still only one bathroom for 5 people seem a little crowded. The kids loved the water park, but it was on the small side…meaning everything is geared for small kids and at 11 and 12 they did what they could be was bored. I enjoyed the hot spa….I really enjoyed it. The grand daughter had a pedicure and manicure at a cost of 100.00 for the kids …Ouch, but she is worth it I guess. There was a cherry festival on the water front in Traverse City we managed to get there and check it out…I think that was more fun for the kids than the lodge. They swam in Lake Michigan and rode the rides…and enjoyed not one but two days of fun on the water front.
Check out is at 2 which was a benefit so we got to sleep in a bit today…before leaving. I got a call yesterday …I don’t know why I got the call but my cows got out and was spotted all over the place as far away as 2 miles. It took forever to track them down and they could only get one of them…the other showed up this morning in a farmers barn with his cows. I guess it’s always greener on the other side of the gate.
So much writing going on since I took a couple of days off I will have to read it and hopefully catch up tomorrow.

We put up some walls up to reconstruct a board for the granddaughter to put up a white board to leave messages on....she mounted a huge white board to keep track of the horses. The two new ones are settling in pretty good....I think they will like us here. Surprising no one has taken the boat out or has been on the lake in the last two days. I don’t think they want to scorch in this hot sun even with sunscreen on. The girls did spend a better part of the day cleaning up equipment for the horses and cleaning out their tack trunks.
I am going to clean my room now and get packed for my little weekend getaway. I will be leaving in the morning. I am not sure what happen…..I got side tracked trying to do this…and ended up cleaning my room before I posted. Oh well I am all done now and going to lie down to get a little rest.

Today was a long hot day...it started out early....I was up all night working went to bed at 8:20am was gotten up at 10:30 by a granddaughter and it wasn't Savanna. Did some stuff with the horses...and gave Savanna a short riding lesson. I really enjoyed being down at the barn today but it was VERY hot...so had to make it a short day.
I did laundry today....first time in a long time but you know i missed it...it's the first time in I don't know how long that I actually know where stuff is. I have been having my sister handle it so long I have no idea where she puts things and it gets so frustrating trying to ask all the time. I actually went up and down the basement steps quite a few times today and I feel pretty good. The foot is a little swollen but it’s been worse with much less.
Although I did a lot today I am still winding down from last week’s extravaganza. Two more days and I am off on another short break with the youngest granddaughter and her mom and dad….we are going to the great wolf lodge in Traverse City Michigan….an indoor water park. I promised I would go somewhere with just her….and her family after my Florida trip without her. Since her parents can’t get away for any length of time we choose a long weekend there.
My hair is so long and so thick…I washed it this morning and this evening the underneath was still damp. If I braid it…it can stay damp for days. Must be the Indian in me along with the high cheek bones. I sure hope I tap in next Monday on the challenge with a couple of lbs gone…after all I am doing it should be falling off me.
I hope everyone had a safe and fun independence day celebration.

One more day came and went….we had a blast today. The kids did some pole climbing, it started out a little frantic but overall it was a blast. You would be surprised at what can be done with a little encouragement. It was over 100 here today so the horses were not used…we don’t ride them in the extreme heat. They suffer as much as we do…so today was a fun day after cleaning the stalls…it was boating and lake games. I was short two life jackets…I thought we checked them all before we put them away last year but a couple of them were in need of minor repair…….so our neighbor came to the rescue and donated a couple for the rest of the week. We even had a couple of the neighbors join in the fun with their boats and the kids. We have a couple of blowup rafts that can be pulled with a boat. We have skis that the kids can learn to use….and if nothing else we have a dock where they can jump off and just have a fun time.
Between the climbing, trampolines, and lake we managed to fit in a full day. The kids got to ride their horses after dark when it cooled off. We have an indoor arena and a lighted outdoor one. A little bit of bug spray works wonders on a hot night.
Tomorrow we have a couple of surprises for the kids. We have two different sets of high school equestrian’s teams coming to work with the kids and get them ready for their competition show on Saturday. Each team member will be working one on one with a child to help them get better in their riding. They will also be back on Saturday for the competition to coach their student and cheer them on. We also have a local artist coming in…to sketch the kids and their horse, so they have something to take home with them. It will be Friday night out.….and we are all going to the movies. Our local movie house is expecting us at 5 for the movie and we will have dinner a couple of buildings down at McDonalds. Our McDonalds is donating the dinner ( very nice of them).
Breakfast was egg and bacon burritos and American home fries. Lots of milk and juice to drink. There is always cereal for those that don’t like our daily menu.
Lunch was hotdogs, French fries, and ice cream for deserts. Boy can some of them eat…one boy ate 5 hotdogs. Ruth (my sister) had to stop him….she thought he was showing off after the forth one and didn’t want him to get sick. Of course he said no he was just hungry.
Dinner was Friend Chicken, Mashed Potatoes, Corn on the Cob, Corn Bread, Pudding for desert.
We had a sing along around the camp fire this evening. It was hot out, but the kids still wanted the fire. My grandson got out the guitar and they had fun choosing songs that he couldn’t play. He did his best while keeping them laughing until bed time.
Do you know how are it is to get 24 kids to take a shower every night….I have a couple of them that come up with all kind of excuse trying to get out of it. I told them that I would take a hose and spray them off and pour horse shampoo on them if they didn’t take one on their own. I am not sure they believed me and still tried to get out of it. One said his mom said his skin will peal if he gets it wet to often. I said ok…shower and no more swimming will take care of that. He changed his mind saying maybe his mom was just kidding because their water bill was so high. He also said he has allergies to well water. I said did you ever use well water before, he said no, that’s why I am allergic to it. Gosh ever night he comes up with more excuses. A little girl said her parents told her never to take off her clothes except in the privacy of her own home…I said that’s ok, you can wash your clothes as you take a shower. She decided that maybe it was better to shower without the clothes. Haha,,,Kids you gotta love em.

Ok , for me….another long day. I spent almost 9 hours outside, which is more than I have spent outdoors in a year. My foot is swollen double the size but I did not let that stop me. I worked not one but three horses…well two horses and a pony. I worked my blind girl, my stud (jj) and his offspring…a pony. Her mother was a mini….she is twice the size of the mom, but still under 13 hands…so a PONY. Emma is a cutie though vivid black and white. She is turning three and no one has done anything with her…so I figured I would give it a shot. I have a couple of youngsters that have taken a liking to her and they want to help me out. So I figured if they can brush her and help with bathing her I will lunge her and do her ground work….maybe I can get her in a buggy before the end of summer.
Breakfast was Pancakes and Bacon and Ham, watermelon, grape and orange juice and milk to drink. We also had boxed cereal for those that don’t eat pancakes but as far as I recall they all ate pancakes. My sister and her helper had two grills going flapping jacks as fast as they could. The morning group gathered almost 16 lbs of clay from the river bed…..oh boy were they a mess today. We had outdoor showers….they came back with their shoes soaking wet from running in the water. Lots of fun was had. They started their art projects
The afternoon group…worked on cutting and sanding boards…for their signs they are making for the horses. They are making name plates for each of their horses. They have to cut the wood (with the help of hubby and my son)….then sand it smooth. After they will design it…paint it or stain it……put the horses name on it and by the end of the week we should have new stall signs for some of the horses.
First clean up day today….the morning group with horses cleaned the stalls….what usually takes 10 minutes to do; took close to an hour with some of them, but hey you gotta do what you gotta do…if they plan to ride. No short cuts. Over all after all the yuks and the laughter and pewwwww sounds we had clean stalls. They got to brush down their horse, help to saddle it and 5 at a time got to ride under supervision of a trainer. Each of them has a handler to walk beside them the first few times…until we see who can walk alone and who can’t. They are not handicap but they are young and this is new to them, we don’t want any mishaps.
Afternoon group cleaned up the grounds around the barn, but picking up the manure the morning horses left behind then they set out to do the same with their horses. We had one young girl in the afternoon that the horses intimidated so she played and groomed the goat. She seems to be fine doing that right now.
We had soup and sandwiches for lunch with bananas and apples with chocolate and white milk or water to drink. I can tell you I that the cleanup crew found 17 partial bottles of water laying around…tomorrow we are going to have to change that. The kids grab and go…and oops it’s not all drank.
The kids didn’t swim today it was on the mild side but they did enjoy a water balloon fight and the trampolines. The boys got to climb the trees in the woods to the stands that are out there for hunting. They (the hubby and some of the boys) have decided to change a few things and take on bow and arrow practice. Something new on the agenda....but not our first time at it. We are all bow experts here….from the oldest to the youngest have bows (yes including me). I’m not letting them at my bow though it’s set just right for me. The hubby will have to get out his…but he has quite a few so it will be fine. The hubby and the boys have already put out big round bales of hay and put targets on them in the hay field. Sounds like fun.
We hooked a couple of the dogs up to the sleds and had them pull the kids around the track. Good thing the dogs know to keep to the track because the kids cannot steer for nothing.
Pork chops, potatoes, and green beans was the dinner menu with bread pudding, soda pop, water or milk.
Night snack was popcorn or apples
By night fall every one of the kids were ready for bed….they were so tired but excited to see what tomorrow brings. My two cry babies are still inside next door to me. I just peeked in on them and they are sound sleep without a care in the world. No one wanting to call home yet so that’s a good sign.

I had a really busy day….so much going on. I will keep it short just wanting to keep up and let you know I am thinking about most of you. The morning was filled with kids and parents arriving getting acquainted and settled. After saying goodbye to the last parent we are ready to begin camp. The kids got a tour of the grounds…on a horse drawn wagon. They met the animals and were assigned bunks or not really bunks but cots is a better word…cots with sleeping bags, pillow, and an extra blanket if they need it. Their personal things were stored under their beds. We had a boat ride this evening and allowed them to swim in the lake. After we had a hotdog and marshmallow roast and all introduced ourselves by telling stories. A very interesting group we have this year. I think things will be fun. They are settled down in their tents right now, I had two that cried a little so I had to let them come in and sleep inside. They were afraid of the dark even through there are seven in each tent. Well I don’t want to upset them the first day so we will see if we can get them back out in the group in a day or two. A group of youngsters are going to track the river bed looking for clay to use in an art project in the morning. We have some great clay out there, but will make it a job for the kids to get and bring back in. They are looking forward to right after breakfast.
I am tired tonight so I am going to call it an early night…no late work for me this week. I am taking the week off from regular work to be bright and sunny at the camp. Let’s…hope everyone has sweet dreams tonight. I’m about to say a little prayer.

I made it home safely. Had a nice lunch in IHOP then drove all the way or should I say my GD Alexandra did. We chatted a little on the way but mostly it was a nice quiet ride. I have been home for a couple of hours before trying to get online here. Either way I am going to call it an early night…I am quite tired and expect to have a busy day tomorrow.

I am not sure drastic measures are what you should do against the insurance company. I am sure that would not bother them at all. In fact it might be what they are looking for. Then if something went wrong .... you can not hold them to blame. Take a deep breath and rethink this problem. We have all faced it at one time or another. Insurance companies feel they hold the upper hand. Let me do some research and maybe I can drop a tip or two. There should be a way to get what you need.

I am fuming mad at my insurance co. I wish they would make up their minds on what my coverage is. I am thinking of canceling all my appointments and start diagnosing myself. If I continue on my meds I won't have to be seen until I need refills (3 mo.). Then I am thinking removing my meds 1 by 1. My blood pressure can be monitored at home as well as my sugar. Maybe the doc will send me 4 bloodwork 2 times a year instead of 6. Something has to be done. Any ideas would be helpful. :) Barb.

I'm off today for Indy to see a horse show with the girls. Will be gone for a couple of day...everyone have fun and work on your cholesterol and high blood pressure. I forgot to take my meds yesterday and I was out all day...in the heat. Can't let that happen to often.

I rested up last night and for some reason in the middle of the night got an urge to go shopping. Well as we all know nothing is open in the middle of the night except for Wal-mart, so off to Wal-mart I went. To add excitement I decided to go to a Wal-mart in the next town rather than my own, like maybe something will be different there.
I found myself at 2 am in a (for me) new Wal-mart. Things were looking pretty good, the floor layout was totally different which I liked. So I started in the first isle and made my way around isle by isle through the whole thing including all the food isles. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to buy and in most cases my choice would not be wal-mart. Also my eyes kept darting around looking at the few shoppers and employees. I don’t know if you recall anything but they have a site called people of Wal-mart. I have never been on it but I have heard so much about it. People getting caught doing and looking silly in the process of visiting Wal-mart. This was not going to happen to me. I dressed properly and covered all my corners just in case there was going to be someone with a camera. My sister on the other hand….is another story. She looked like the bag- lady from HELL. I tried to walk ahead of her or in another isle, but she kept calling my name out loud and asking me to look at something stupid.
Well she talked me into a few items which loaded half the basket. I did not want to buy anything once I got there, thinking I would not like the value of it. To my surprise I came on the drapery department and found curtains that I just fell in love with at such a reasonable price. 10.00 a panel – I was elated at my find. I bought all new panels for my bedroom. I decided I wanted to redo the whole room to match the new curtains. I went into the rug department and found a great large area rug that will work wonderfully. I had to get Ruth to get a second cart because by the time we finished shopping there was just no room in either one of them. With only one lane open after midnight I am sure the worker did not expect us to pull up to her register loaded down with products. Oh, and I found some foot long hotdogs and buns ….hadn’t had a foot long in so long I bought them and brought them home. Ended up making hotdogs at 5 am….and sat down to do a little work on the computer.
Bottom line is …don’t mark Target, Wal-mart, or Meijers out there might just be a bargain found there.

Thought I would just check in. Haven't been on line for awhile. Now I have a terrible sore throat. My doc said I'm doing much better than I was 6 months ago, finally! I still need to work on my blood pressure. Can't find a substitute for salt. LOL! I eat too much processed foods. I have been outside more. I'm hoping it will motivate me! Everyone else in my neighborhood seems to do lots of yard work! LOL! I transplanted of few things but they look bad, even after watering. There's always next year! LOL! Have a great week!

I made it back just in time for my youngest Granddaughters recital. She was oh so cute and I loved the daddy daughter dance the group does. We all went out to dinner afterward….Thai Restaurant at 41 of us. It was like a banquet I am sure the restaurant didn’t mind since they too are family. My daughter in law is Thai and the whole family on that side is very close with our side. By the time we hit the restaurant there was over 60 of us in the family but we can only count the ones that attended the recital.
I got up early today to help with the hay bailing. I can’t do much of the work but I can drive the tractor to pull the hay wagons. I put in from 9:30 am until 6 pm my back is hurting from the bumping of the tractor over the fields. I had to give it up….I left the all boys out there to do it on their own while my granddaughter pulled the wagons with the truck.
I am sitting here debating dinner, it’s too hot to cook anything and my cook stayed behind in Florida for a few days. Sadly I did not get a chance to hook up with my SP sister while there but we are planning an adventure for the near future when I return. My dogs were missing me so much…poor babies.
I see a few new names and faces on here. I hope I can sort it out and meet everyone. I will just jump in and join the conversations as they come. I hope everyone has a great Sunday.

Made it home in one piece and all went really well. Sunday was the final day and all the championship classes…My oldest granddaughter took 3 Championships and a Reserve with 4 out of 4 classes…..and my youngest took a (1) reserve. She tried really hard but didn’t quite make it. We are still very proud of her. Three other classes she was in she never placed at all on Sunday.
We got the RV home and cleaned out, got the horses put away and everyone went home. I was totally exhausted. Today I did not want to do anything at all and too tell the truth that’s just what I did, nothing at all.
I will read everything catch up and come back and comment. I am going to try to upload a couple of the photos of the girls over in the cuddle box.

As long as it put a smile on your face it’s worth it and like you said…its good for the High Blood Pressure.
I have been out for two days dealing with a horseshow today I washed my youngest granddaughter horse. She tried and it came back not clean enough so I thought I would give it a shot. I can’t believe how good it actually felt fighting a flighty horse trying to keep it still enough to wash down it face and head. The baby did bend over and redo the legs but I managed the upper portion and came out feeling like I really accomplished something. I put a lot of time in running back and forth and working with the youngest on her horse. My older granddaughter which is the youngest ones trainer…can’t watch her and be in a class riding her own horse. I would say I got in at least 4 hours of hard exercise doing one thing or another. Last night I came home with swollen ankles and legs throbbing so badly, but today I managed to get through it better. So there must be hope yet.
Get some rest and try walking again and let me know if you feel any better. There is a light at the end of this tunnel I just wish it would stay on long enough for me to make it out.
I going to call it an early night, because I have to be up and out at the fairgrounds by 6am. My girls won’t show their horses if I am not there to watch them. Strange grandkids I have, all four of them.
Hahaha! Thanks for the jump rope spark goodie. I did go for a long walk , this being my first week back I am trying to move move move again.. stiff somewhat , a little tender, but by the time I got back, over 3 miles, and my soles of my feet were hurting , fibro and unused to it muscles or something that is on the bottom of the feet......... well I succeeded and feel tired, probably from not enough sleep the last few nights but hope that adjusts as time goes on. I neglected time outside in the last year and am battling a Vitamin D lack so I also sat in the sun in tank top and shorts with some sun screen yesterday and today ( also walked yesterday). I started out in a bad mood this morning thanks to some aggravating phone calls that were unexpected first thing but ya made me laugh with that jumprope goodie, hahaha.
I am sure the joke is on me just now, I dont think I could do more than five leaps up and down just now...... hehehe.
It was good to laugh and its got to be good for the blood pressure and the mood!

I had a busy weekend and my Monday was pretty hectic in doing errands all day. I had a DR apt today and therapy in the afternoon. I came home to look for registration papers for the show horses and guess what I CAN'T FIND THEM. I am so fed up with people going threw my desk and trying to organize me the way they think I should be. Now I have a mess on my hands and I am down to the wire...in need of those papers. If I can't find them along with the coggins test (blood test) my grand kids will not be attending the horse show this weekend. I have over 1500.00 tied up in the show and will just loose it all if I can't find the horse papers. Those of you with horses know what I mean the rest trust me it's AWFUL.
My hubby is going to come back shortly and take me to get something to eat to calm me down and then I am going to tear my office apart...shelf by shelf one draw at a time....until I find them. An ordeal I am not looking forward to. I can't understand for the life of me...why my things are touched.
I wish I could chat a bit more but right now I am in one of those moods. Just trying to type here to cool off a little.

It happens when you have kids and animals you know there is always going to be something taking over. I forgot what a big help my son could be since he has been a chef in Vegas for so long. He is home and jumped right back into routine like he has never been gone. He has even helped my granddaughter out by taking on a couple of the unbroken horses. He is going to work them and get them ready for adoption. And help her with getting things in order around the barn. He rides as well as I do and always loved the excitement of testing his abilities under saddle. I plum forgot until he said MOM, you could have said something. So we have an extra full time hand while he is here. He jumped in and they finished the grounds putting in the drain tile yesterday. They were up late last night doing the fences in the dark with lights from the vehicle. The granddaughter rounded up the colt….fixed up cuts on the old guy and I guess we are back to square one. The boys are going to make a mold for the concrete and order that to be poured or the entry way and isle way at the barn.
Me on the other hand I am a little slow to bat. I did make it shopping yesterday and got food for everyone, did not make Sec of State for the title but hopefully I can do that today after I get a hold of the insurance carrier. I have therapy this afternoon so I will be out anyway. I have an appointment this afternoon at 5 with someone I met off Craig’s list. I met him last year he makes greenhouses. I want him to make me one as a studio. He is coming to show me designs and prints. We did manage to get the RV stabilized in one place and unhooked from the truck. Yahoo! I was in it yesterday showing my sister it, so she can have an ideal on cleaning it out. Even though it was clean I still want it cleaned from top to bottom. Anyway the cute part is while in there, my granddaughter came up on the golf cart yelling at me to get out of her house. Hehehe…funny girl.
I got a letter from the insurance company that is handling my therapy from the car accident. They set an appointment with a doctor for me to go see on the 16th, way up in Flint MI. They sent the letter register, so I am thinking they want to stop paying and hope their doctor says I am ok. Good luck with that one. I would love to be just OK.

It's chilly today. I would like the sun to come out but after so much rain lately I will take it any way I can get it. I have some plans today to try to get out and do some after winter clean up around the house. Maybe clean off the decks and patio. Get out all the furniture and set back up for the year. I have to travel to Brighton to pick up the deck chairs my granddaughter borrowed during Christmas. We did pick up some flats of flowers yesterday, my son and daughter are going to do the gardens for me for mothers day.
I wish all of you....a great Wednesday.
Barb *** We have a Novi in Michigan to. I attend all the Expos for horses there at the Rock Financial...I think the name just changed to something else. Maybe we are talking the same thing.

Well another week has passed and I am feeling a little better! I will be going to the doctor on Tues. next week, Thought it was this week, thankful I called to make sure. I am hoping my cholesterol is lower. I have been trying hard to watch my food intake! I really need this to work. My doctor told my sister if she didn't change her diet she will be in terrible shape in less than 2 years. I've been telling her about the problems I've had with blood pressure and cholesterol, also the diabetes that is on both sides of our family! I hope she takes it serious and changes now instead of waiting like I did! I was able to walk at the Women's show in Novi last week, 5 hrs. on my feet! Then I was feeling better and worked under my blue spruce trees, raking and weeding! I am finally getting a little more active outside! My goal of losing weight is a little shy this month so hopefully being outside will help me reach my goals! Have a good week! :) Barb

I guess I will just do it one day at a time…I just don’t see anyone coming in here to even try to make this happen. I sure wish some of your would take the initiative to at least give it a try. You might find that that you like it.
Anyway think SPARK for the day and let it light you up. You can do anything you want to do all you have to do is take the first step. Some will do it quicker and better than others, yet some will be more diligent than others, while some will just sit back and do nothing but wish.
My grandmother once told me to wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which gets full the fastest. I think she was right all the wishing and hoping will not get you off that couch and moving if you are not going to put your mind to it.
I know this, you know this..so what’s being done. Are you are do-er or a don’t bother kind of person?

I’ve had a busy couple of days. Things are a bit hectic around here right now. I went out during last week and found a 38ft camper. The cost of new ones was so outrageous I couldn’t afford one so I started looking at used ones. I found a nice 2010 down in Ohio. I put a down payment and was going back to pick it up with a cashiers check when I could get to the bank on Saturday. I got a call on Friday that they did not trust a cashiers check and wanted cash. Now that would not bother me much under ordinary circumstances, but it being just over 20,000 I don’t think IRS would like me withdrawing cash and no trace of where it went to . I didn’t understand why they mistrusted a cashier’s check either. Maybe they thought I could print them up who knows. So we agreed to meet at her bank and transfer funds there this coming Monday, the problem is they did not give me a time, and I have not heard from them since. I am going to try and call them this afternoon and see if all in on track.
My son flew in from Las Vegas and the first thing he did was clear out and cleans my refrigerator then goes shopping to restock it. He wants to cook for me the next few weeks and keep me on a diet which is good for me so I am not complaining. I will just wait and eat whatever he makes. Him being a chef he should know more than me anyway. I have a pretty large house but not large enough I guess. I was given orders that my granddaughters bedrooms was not up for use. The other four are being used by family members now, so I had no bedroom to give him. We went out and bought a queen size blow up mattress, a mattress cover, four new pillows and wham I have a bed not. It’s not too bad either. I had it set up in the music room (my room) since it’s one of the only rooms that is not public domain. We moved some books off the bookshelves and he is using the shelf for his clothes. As long as he doesn’t mind I am at ease with it. That was until yesterday, when my youngest granddaughter came over. She is upset that he is sleeping in there when she isn’t allowed to go in there. And if I can put a bed in there why can’t she have the room and she will give him her room now. The music room is a lot bigger and a girl needs her space or so I was told. We will work it out, I am not giving up my room full time.
I have a sick horse on my hands, the poor girl foundered last week. She is on bute medication twice daily, but she is still hurting a lot. Foundering for those of you that don’t know the term, to become disabled; especially : to go lame. The recovery if there is one is a slow process. I am feeling so bad for her. This was an active beautiful feisty Arabian mare. I think her show days will never come into focus now. Months of training down the tubes. The only thing we can think of now is turning her into a brood mare and even that is an iffy, if she pulls through. It happen in the rotation of the fields a couple of weeks ago…we sat 7 horses on a new field, and she is the only one that foundered but we pulled them all off that field anyway. They all gained at least 50 to 100 lbs in less than two weeks. I will just have the fields cut and the hay bailed as first cutting and then turn them out once again….toward midsummer. The field they are on now has green grass but not as rich. I’m keeping an eye to see if any others in the newer fields are showing any signs of needed to be taken off but so far nothing.
My pregnant mare is due any time now. We did a live covering and let him stay out there with her all winter so the exact dates I don’t have but being around horses so long I can see the signs and she is ready at almost any time. I am getting a little excited wondering if it will be a colt or filly, and it’s color markings. The father is guaranteed to throw color. He is a big black and white, the mom is a sold gray. He has 11 babies on the ground but this is her 1st. I was out in the fields with him over the weekend, he came up and his poor forelock (bangs) is covered in burs. He’s a burbaby instead of burberry. I wonder if I can Patten that (hehe)
I have a busy week coming up so I am not sure what time or when I will get online but I have a apt on my phone that will allow me to do a little here and there. I just don’t type anything very long or extensive. A check here and there that’s all.

Well I was able to go to dinner and by my surprise I ordered chicken breasts with salad and a cup of soup! Yeah, thats right, I am patting myself on the back. I even brought home leftover salad, which I ate the next day. Dinner was good and my husband enjoyed the change. He loves my cooking but I even need the break. My doctor said she's proud of the way I've changed my diet, even if I slip now and again. I didn't realize I lost over 20 lbs. in 6 months. That's almost 1/2 of my total weight lost. I still need to work on my diet. I need motivation to exercise. My BP was 124/78. Finally! But the cholestrol was high. Thanks for the encouragement HYATTI1 ! I am on the right track! I was thinking of getting a pedometer, so I could see how active I am at home! Does it only work when you go for walks?

It doesn't really say but there are 5 windows for print screen. I just got it last week and still have not been able to set it for everything it says it can do but I am working on it.
