We are very happy to welcome you to this team. We look forward to us sharing our experience. No information is too small. We have a few more nurses so I am assuming we are going to get some valuable information or corrections to past information.

Hi all, I just joined. A few months ago, my cholesterol was 255. I started watching my weight and doing exercises and now it is down to 202. I'd like to drop it down some more. Hoping this site will help me do that.

You have an excellent plan to get your health under control. When my creatine was high I was referred to a nephrologist. She informed me there was some damage to my left kidney because of my continued HBP. To add to the HBP I also have type II diabetes which also adds to the kidney damage.

The exercises will definitely help with your HBP and high cholesterol. You know, it is a really good idea to have a exercise buddy. To have your husband as you exercise buddy is the best.

Let us know what happened with your recent tests.

Always wishing you the best. emoticon

I take all of my meds daily. I have one for my BP that I only had to take if I started swelling due to fluid retension but now I'm taking it daily. My creatine level stays elevated some and that was why doctor had me not taking it all the time.

I will have a lipid profile done this week and will know how my cholesterol is doing without medication. I'll also be getting other test doneRecently I have started back at the fitness center with my husband. This week I was there 3 days 60-90 minuted working out. I'm also getting my living room (not the one we are usually in) cleaned up as a backup area for some exercises at home and I have two two exercise pieces in my garage I can get to now if I want to be outside.

emoticon to the Managing Your Cholesterol and High Blood Pressure team. If you are recently diagnosed with high cholesterol you will most like be able to control it with a change in diet and exercise. Are you currently taking medications or is your dr recommendation a change in life style.

exercise.lbl.gov At this link and after you set up your account, you put in the number of miles you walked or ran for the day. It starts you at a city in the U.S. Each time you put in the miles you walked or ran (there is a calendar), it takes you to another place in the U.S. according to those miles. Take a look at it. If you are afraid to join use phony information.

Hi Maryann. I hope you are having a great Sunday.

I didn't quite understand what you were saying: Are you only taking your meds part-time? If that is the case I hope you know that the meds will not work the way they are prescribed. I know after many years of illness you are frustrated with the whole process. You should not give in to these frustrations. Sometimes, when you want to give up your answer is right around the corner.

If you do not take your HBP meds you can irreparable damage for many of your organs, esp. your kidneys and liver.

I would like to be your SparkFriend so we can stay in close touch--I have sent you a friendship offer.

Contact me whenever you would like to.

As of a few months ago I am off of any cholesterol medication because my liver functions were elevated back in August, then after taking another med they got even worse. I was tested for a lot of things and am in remission from a rare disease that I developed 5 1/2 years ago that effected my liver and multiple body systems. The last test 2 weeks ago had 3 liver functions normal and only one still elevated some. In August I will have 3 month test 1 will have to have the rest of my life and sooner than that when anything like my liver test are abnormal. I will also get a lipid profile done then. My triglyceride levels returned after I started taking fish oil once a day.

There were times I tried to go off my bp meds. One of the meds I take for my BP is also to keep my heart rate from going to fast.

My blood pressure was up on my last appointment but seems to be staying normal since I have been taking one of my 3 meds daily instead of part time. I have had HBP since my late 20's. My weight has never been a factor because it was up when I weighted only 106-120.

Hi there fellow Sparkers . . . my BP is on the high end of normal but I'm on a small amount of medication to keep it there. I'm trying to lose 10% of my body weight, eat more fish & exercise more to lower it - if I can. I really don't want to go onto the heavy duty meds so here I am. I've joined the Walkers - Walking with Leslie & the Gazelle people to help since I can't walk very far. I actually love the Gazelle & walking in the pool too but the chemicals in the pool kill me. So, Gazelle, it is. Good luck to us all!!

hello sparklers
sorry to hear your troubles hyatti - you have had a very large plateful of woes! Hope things will steadily improve for you and yours.
Generally here, visitors on rampage and queues forming! eek!
my other half has been doing wonders as I have been wailing from the battlements re- shame and upset about longish bout of arthritus winning just now so housework not good or done properly! Isn't he a treasure?
Things looking much better and my dear sister arrives tonight - near midnight! I will decant her and brother-in-law sraight into comfy bed and kiss goodnight. Long and comfortable chats for next 9 days - heavenly!
Trouble on horizon though.........cakes baked and pies, plenty of cheer for brother-in-law and no qualms about the bribes he loves to help my beloved with some building work and so....the piper must be paid!
I must remind myself that i am not a builder so cakes are not allowed but I did have to test that almond cake my beloved helped me with yesterday didn't I?

I need to be on some areas of Sparkpeople more. My husband has lost more weight than me and wants me to get serious for my own good. The big thing is I am not doing the exercise part that I should be and he is. I am better at portion control but he has more will power about sweets.

It’s been awhile since I have been on and active in the team chat. I have missed many of you. I would say all of you but there are new people and that would be me telling a fib…not knowing them at all. I am sure there is much to read up on and see how everyone is doing. I did put up a little blog with an update. Things are getting better and allowing me some time so I might be tempted to get back on at a regular basis.

HI I am Denise and this is the best website I have ever been in. Really it has so much to offer and many tools and enhancements to get you going and keep you going. This group is one that I choose because my doctor has and I are trying to get my bad cholesterol to go down.. I have requested that he give me more time to try and get it down without statins. I go in about two more months to see if I have accomplished this. I realize that the info here says no diet or exercise is a substitute for medicine.. He seems to agree with me that since I am on the borderline with mine it may be something for me to try.. GOOD LUCK TO ALL... emoticon

I wanted to let everyone know that I am going to back away from Sparkpeople for a while. I just have so much on my plate that I can’t seem to find the time to be on here as often as it is required. I wish I had another route to take but I need to eliminate a few things so that I can catch up and stay on top of a few others. I wish you all the best and for some of you I will miss dearly for I think I have found some really good friends along my journey. If I can find a balance or have time I will make my way back, until then have a wonderful life and may all your goals be met in 2013.

Oh my gosh I feel like I fell off the ends of the earth it’s been a while since I have been on. One thing after the other has come up keeping me either working or away. I have had no time for the computer or even to get into any emails. I opened the email and I had at least 12 to 14 days behind on Spark mails….and when you get so many in one day…well you can just imagine to mess and trying to catch up on everything would have been impossible so I ended up deleting all the older ones that were with articles and such. Just too much to read and try to reply to all the blogging etc.

That flu bug has hit just about everyone in the family and might be coming around for seconds. We had company in for the funeral which caused me to have to play host to. We had a couple of downfalls with the horses and this winter issues. Frozen water buckets, the crazy things are playing with the cords and taking them out of the wall and this allows their buckets to freeze. Trying to un-break the water or melt it has caused a few causalities also. Broken buckets cost up to 70 dollars each to replace. My daughter took a good fall a couple of weeks ago and in the end it caused her to go to the hospital and have minor surgery. She had broken bone that had to be removed. She spent 4 days in the hospital and then I had to help take care of her once she was home. So I had her come here to my house since I already had visitors from out of town here.

The hubby was down with the flu and in bed for three days straight…so we had to find a way to pick up his work slack…which is not easy in the winter. I had to fight with him to get him to the doctor and on meds. I ran my poor granddaughter ragged and now…of all things she is down with the flu and out of commission.

The funeral for my mother in law is over, the visitors went home on the 14th, my daughter went home today, my hubby is back in commission but not all up to par. I haven’t been working so I am behind at work and of course I am out of two pay checks…no work no pay. What can I expect? Well this is what I can expect….my daughter was not able to work so of course she had to borrow money from MOM. My sister gave me a call and ask me to loan her money….of course I did not say no. The hubby had no insurance and taking him to the doctor ran us a good chunk of change counting up the prescriptions she gave him. Without him cutting wood for the fireplaces……I had to turn up the heat…and its electric not gas so that hit me up…with a 1700.00 Electric bill for last month…..between the house and barn…we get hit up big time. I really need to get my head out of my butt and back on the ground working. Hehehe! It’s not all that bad, but two or three months like this could really put the hurt on us.

So please forgive me for not knowing what is going on or keeping up with you all here. I really enjoy when I get the chance to chat with one or more on here, but lately it has not been going my way. And burrrrrrr it’s cold outside tonight. But, I smell the wood coming from the lower fire and the house is nice and toasty warm right now. I hope you are all smiling from your valentine’s day that just passed and you were able to enjoy it.

Well I went to the Dr...yesterday morning...BP was 117/80 so they say very good. Back on my meds...trying to get through this ordeal...she said I has ear infections along with a nose infection so she put me on antibiotics. Prescribed an inhaler and had me buy mucus medication over the counter. I have to confess I do feel a little better today, but I barely made it through the funeral...I was so week it was hard to stand.

My daughter bless her heart....took up my place and played hostess for our side of the family during last couple of days. I was so sick yesterday after seeing the doctor I came home took a shower to leave for the funeral home and passed out on the bed. I did not make it for the family gathering or the first showing. Domenica was there and she stood by her father and mingled and met everyone that came in and offered condolences. I did manage to get dressed and make it to the second showing from 6 to 8 however I was still too weak to do too much. I did make it around for a while. The hubby belongs to bike club and over 75 of them showed up that evening....I had to say hi to the older ones that all knew me, and the hubby introduced me to a few of the younger members. I had them laughing a little here and there so I guess it went rather well. I managed to get around to the family that was still there, but I just could not stand up for long periods of time.

Today during the ceremony my husband broke down a few times so I had to get up and stand by him...whispering to him that he could do this...and keep my arm around his waist for him to make his speech, but he did it and it was truly a nice speech not written at all. It all came from the heart. Now that he has put her to rest I think he will be fine. She is gone but not forgotten.

Tonight I am feeling a little better...so I hope the medication the doctor gave me....will get me out of this slump I am in and back on track so I can get back to taking care of things around here. I want to thank all of you for the nice wishes you sent me and all the private notes...they were taken to heart with much gratitude. I hope you are all doing well and I promise to read everything over the next couple of days to catch up to speed.

God Bless
Joanna

Joanna - You take care. It sounds like everything is hitting you all at one time! Sending prayers your way.
It was sunny in Kansas today. Almost 70! I love the warmer temps. I need to move to a year round warmer climate. Then I spend more time outdoors. I am still using the elliptical as I am definitely a fair weather walker/outdoor exerciser.

I heartily agree with you! People need to do their homework and not rely on whatever the doctor tells them. Doctors get kickbacks from prescribing statins, and any new meds, for that matter!

You know, 222 isn't very high at all. I truly believe that ever since they made statins available, they lowered the bar on what is a healthy level, primarily to make money for the drug manufacturers. I also know it's normal for women to have rising levels post-menopause. If you're eating in a healthy way, avoiding fried foods, cheese etc., and rely more on plant based foods, You're probably doing your body much more good than taking medication, at that low level. Anyway, studies have shown that lowering your levels with statins has very little impact on whether or not you have a heart attack.

We have nothing to lose but bad habits!

Joana hope you get to feeling better soon. I had my worst case of Bronchitis in years in November 700 miles from home and I know what it feels to cough so hard and long that every muscle and bone in your chest aches. Hope you get some help with the cleaning up. Sounds like you have a very special little granddaughter.

I'll tell you when it rains it pours...I am sick as a dog....really and I can handle pain in a high tolerance dose. This is not painful just draining all my energy. My coughing has caused every upper muscle and bone I have in my chest to ache. I am trying not to cough and it just keeps coming. One side of my nose is running and I can't get it to stop so it is red and raw. The other side is stuffed with a sinus infection. My legs hurt to pick them up and put them down. On top of that my mother in law died early this morning. The hubby got a call that her body functions where shutting down and they should come if he wanted to be there at the last. So he went about 3 yesterday afternoon. She moved a bit but never woke up....finally went at 4:40 this morning. Now he is out with his older sister making funeral arrangements. He has 2 brothers coming in from California and Texas for the funeral. The hubby of course offered our house for the visit. All other family members are here in the state that I know of.

My daughter's birthday is tomorrow so I hate to have her come and clean on her BD, but she did offer to put in a few hours mid-day if I can't get the boys here to do everything right. Both my son and grandson are recovering from this flu and are not up to par, but hey they will have to step up and at least help me out inside today.....before the guest arrive tomorrow.

His sister who was the major care giver wants a one day layout and the funeral the next day. If that happens the funeral will be on Tuesday and I have a major Dr. APT at 10:am With this flu I can't miss it...I need to be put on antibiotics. I hate to have the hubby go to the funeral alone without me. My little granddaughter called me this morning speaking so quietly asking if I heard about grandma Goodall? I said yes she said I am so sorry for grandpa is he there by you...I said he is but sleeping. She said can you tell him I'm sorry. I said yes honey it's ok she was old and it was her time, she went on to say I know grandma but it still hurts a everyone if something happens to their mom. Grandpa is going to be really sad for a while so if he yells or gets mad...don't you ok. I said ok honey thank you for the advice. She said it's ok...I'll see you at the funeral home. We hung up!

Bless the children with sweethearts.

I have never heard of the partical test but there are good and bad parts of the Cholesterol but it isn't based on size.

I can see that I have a lot of research to do - in the meantime I decided to start with fish on Fridays. I will check out the recipes on here and, hopefully, plan some meals for the week. Has anyone heard of the "Particle" test? Evidently, there are some Doctors that believe that it is the size of the cholesterol that is bad and the smaller size blood cholesterol is harmless? So many theories!

Thanks for the warm welcome and I am looking forward to getting to know this group emoticon

TGIF!!!! So glad for the weekend! Alaska, I think you can do this! Check out recipes on here for low cholesterol. There are some good articles that can guide you in the right direction. Joanna - you must get all your exercise in with the horses and the care that goes with them. I am jealous. They are one of the most beautiful animals. I love to ride, however have never been lucky enough to have our on.

Alaska....welcome to the team. We are all here for the same reasons...and I am sure between us we can come up with some type of plan that will suit us all to get our levels under control. I have not been watching mine as much as I should because I expected the meds to take care of it, but you know I would love to get off the meds and just be able to control it all by myself so I too am in it for suggestions and discussions. I am going to spend a little time on my medical charts today...which are all online with my hospital and see what I can come up with if I see anything I can share or that is interesting I will post it here.

Again welcome to the team.

Hi there! I am new to this group as my Doctor has told me that he wanted me on meds for my high cholesterol (222) and I am trying to avoid this! So he gave me three months to try and control it by diet or maybe I am fighting genetics - anyway I really feel that I eat a healthy diet and have been tracking my cholesterol intake for quite some time. I keep it at a very low intake level - is there such a thing as too low? Anyway, I need help for any suggestions to get my numbers down. Part of the Doctor's concern is that I have a heart valve problem and we are trying not to wear it out and cause further deterioration. I am on high blood pressure medication to reduce the stress on my heart valve. Anyway, any suggestions would be appreciated!

WOW, another long day. I just came in from helping to clean the barn tonight. Well truth be told..I came in about 8 - Just me and my grandson to clean all the stalls in the barn and night feed the horses. It took us longer than usual...first because none of the volunteers showed up to help out because of the weather...and with 28 stalls we have our hands full. The poor kid as sick as he was cleaned them all out everyone of them and I refilled them with fresh bedding and filled the waters. We both feed me...I did the grain and he put in the hay...then let them all back in. We were out there from a little after 3 until 8pm.

I put a slow pot roast on this morning to cook so that supper would be ready...so we ate...then just a few minutes ago I got a call from my daughter...the one that fell the other night. She called me asking me to bring her dog food she was out of it...and could not get up and get any. As the weather warmed up today...and the hubby plowed everything in sight getting out this evening was no problem. I ran some pot roast down to her and fed her dogs and cats.....I offered to pick up her kitchen a little but she said no. That was good for me...my lower back was killing me and still is. As much as I love working with the horses it was a little too much for me and I am so out of shape...but it didn't kill me so tomorrow is another day.

Glabarbera, are you joking me?....oh lucky you...although after a terrible storm yesterday we managed to get dug out...and I hear it is going up to the 60s tomorrow...but Wednesday will be back down to the low 20's...no wonder everyone is sick with the flu

Joanna.

Another sunny day in KS - near 70. Tomorrow is supposed to be cold and snowy. Definitely KS in the late winter, early spring. Trying to increase time on the elliptical. That machine is going to be tough for my to conquer. For those meds discussions, I started on lipitor, had severe leg cramps. Now on crestor. I take the lowest dose now and all numbers are within range. I watch the diet closely so that I don't need to increase. I have found that I have much within my control. I eat mostly chicken - try to stay away from hot dogs, etc. Once during the summer my numbers went up. We had been grilling alot and I started eating the hamburgers, etc. Doctor asked if I could do it and gave me three months. Started watching again and lo and behold - the numbers went down! Hang in there! emoticon

I went to a tax seminar for the new horse laws and what they pertain to Michigan and IRS. I didn't learn to much new but a few things. It was an all day affair on Saturday. My granddaughter Alexandra went with me...an 1:40 minute ride there 12:30 to 4:30 event which ran 50 minutes over...and the ride back.

Sunday I was still coping with a house full of sick men. All three of them have been down and about for about a week. I come home from the hospital just in time to try and handle all of them. The hubby was more sore and exhausted than anything else....he took two good falls this past week. First one he went down in the indoor arena....the stud horse (JJ) was in there using it as a run around......because we have several mares in heat. When he went to let him out the horse was so excited he took down one of the fences and a 6X6 post holding it up snapped in two. The hubby caught it...square on...we had no lights the wind storm took out the electrical. So while the horse ran around the area for a while my hubby laid there on the ground in pain and could not get up. I heard the horses going nuts with his neighs so I sent my son out to check out things. He found the hubby in the sand just lying there. My son got him in and he said he had been there a good hour or more just couldn't get up...hurt his foot. Took him to the dr.....it wasn't broken but bruised and swollen quite a bit. So he was out of commission for a while...which during that time he hobbled to go down the lower level stairs...he said his foot hurt him and he picked it up again without thinking to put the other one down and .....the silly man fell down the steps hit his head on the way down and he said he again he was in pain so he thought he would just sit there or lie there a minute so he said he put his hat under his head and somehow fell asleep...I said are you crazy...you could have had a concussion. He said he woke up when my granddaughter showed up and her dog came down licking him in the face. Both my son and grandson have viruses close to the flu....and are on antibiotics and inhalers. Leaving me trying to hold down the fort.

I had to make a run on my own to get food in the house because I heard that the storm might keep us in for a few days. I went in with no snow came out with the snow coming so heavy that I could only do 20 on the back roads..I did not want to end up in a ditch so I just took my time....but getting the food in...my son at least put it away for me while I went out to feed the horses and bed them down for the night. I had to shovel my way to the barn.

Today I had to cancel my Dr. appointment because we were just one sheet of ice. I could not do it on my own...and the main tractor to plow it...I am not use to running it so the hubby had to get up and get out there and here it is after 1 in the afternoon and he is still at it...trying just to clear up to a main road.

I did manage to get some of my own work done since I work late in the evenings...but that left me very little time to come on and chat....I want to stay on track but with the weather going the way it is and having to do my work and a lot of extra things...I figure I am getting enough exercise in so I am not trying to stay caught up with any of my what I call normal routines.

We did sell one of our horses over the last couple of weeks. A nice gelding Arabian.....and I found homes for two of our adoption horses so that was a good sign. Thinking I was going to get a chance to downsize just a bit. It's not going to happen....The granddaughter took the money from the sold horse and added to it and bought another half Arabian that needs to be trained. A young 3 year old....but I must say she (the granddaughter) has good sense when it came to buying she picked a nice large bone mare...that not only will be a nice show horse but if it comes to breeding she has excellent bloodlines. Plus she got her for a great price.

I guess I have to put my law degree at work again and do a little incorporating for her and her new venture. She wants me to sit down and put a 10 year plan together for her and incorporate her as a breeding, boarding, training facility on her own. She wants to put some money she has saved through the years into building a new business for herself. She ask use to give her 14 acres.....in her name and she will build a house and barn on it...for herself. I guess we will do that ...as long as when I put things together I can see she has the means to finish it. It will be here....close but separate from the existing facility. She thinks it will take her at least 2 years to build and get things going....and another three years to five years before she can actually make a profit. At least she is smart enough to realize it is not going to happen overnight.

Ok, there I have caught you all up on my goings and comings...for a bit. I think I will read some of the input on the teams and see how everyone else is getting along. To all of you that are sick...I wish you well and hope you feel better soon. To any engagements, birthdays, anniversaries, or other great moments of life I congratulates you and wish you the best.

Joanna

I've been absend for a couple of weeks went into the hospital for some surgery, but doing better now. I have missed so much and such wonderful convering going on. Mazack, Showbeck, and nomedsforme....I am surprised and very happy to see all the conversations going on in here. I think I need to take your advice nomedsforme....and really get a grip on my self...I just had my BP taken and it is 157/90 they were not going to do the surgery on me until they could get it down below 145/80 or less...it took two days. I'm not sure what I am doing wrong because I am on medication, although I get busy and distracted and forget to take them once in a while. That might be my downfall if I am not careful.

Welcome all you wonderful people and please keep up the conversations and now that I am back I will chip in and share as much as I can.

NOMEDSFORME, thanks for your reply, I now have to have blood tests about every 3 months. Ffor aobut a year I had blood tests monthly and then bi-monthy (that was when I was first on the steriods), The main ones now are, CBC, CMP, ESR and CPK. If anything is really elevated sometimes I have to get checked sooner. There are other tests I have yearly or if I am having problems. Many years ago I took Indocin but was taken off of it. I'm sorry what happened to your futrue husband I have chronic gastritis probabley because I have been on NSAIDS so long. But for years now I have been on Arthrotec and have had no side effects and no ulcers or additional damage. Recently it went to a generic that works and is so much less expensive. I now take a new generic for Boniva which is much less expensive also and I do get a bone density test. When I first had Sweet's Syndrome my Hemoglobin went to 8, now after 5 years it is finally up to 12 the last check up so doctor says I'm no longer anemic even though that is a little low. A medication for my blood pressure also keeps me from going into tacycardia as long as I never miss a dose. I take it twice a day.

My mother would not take her blood pressure meds in the amount she needed and that led to atrial Fib and then to a stroke that killed her 4 weeks after the stroke but it affected her mind after the stroke. Probably the only reason she lived as long as she did she only left her home a few times the last 25 years of her life (except after she got breast cancer and was in denial until it broke through the skin and she had to have surgery) which I didn't really think was living. She would go from window to window in the house to know what was going on in her neighborhood)

I am interested in what people do to lower their cholesterol without their meds. When I was first on cholesterol meds I was not overweight and exercised 1 to 1 1/2 hours daily. My doctor thought I had probably inherited the problem. I do have 35 more pounds to lose now to weigh what I weighted before steriods. I had gained a few pounds before I got sick and had to be on steriods to stop my body from destroying all the systems in my body .

Dear Mazack, I am very sorry to have learned about this, but I suppose that this forum is going to have success stories as well as heartbreaking stories. You must be very careful being on steroids for that long...You know that you must drink plenty of water and have your kidneys and liver checked often. Also, if you are taking Fosamax for the Osteo, please have frequent bone density tests. Over time, Fosamax that is prescribed to increase bone density, may have an adverse effect and actually weaken your bones causing osteopenia or a broken femur bone.

My future husband suffers from SLE Lupus as well as Fibromyalgia. He took a prescription med called Indocin which caused internal bleeding. His Hemoglobin count went from a 14 to a 4 and was rushed to the ER. They thought he had a stroke or a heart attack, until further testing discovered that the Indocin perforated two holes in his upper GI nearly leaving him with no blood. They gave him 7 units of blood and had him on iron pills for over a month. Nearly losing his life, he realized "as did I" that meds could do more harm than good. His standing heart rate was 184. “Can you imagine” ??? When you lose blood, your heart rate goes up, compensating for the loss...The life lesson here is question everything, listen carefully, and do your homework. It may not be easy, but forums like this should help you to make informed decisions.

Stay well & God bless you!

emoticon Hi Joanna, I am new to this forum, but have no issues discussing healthier alternatives that will help lower people’s cholesterol and BP or just add wellness to their lives. I have been through many Doctors all prescribing meds. That is what Dr's do, they offer meds as a solution, which may turn out to be the problem. Some/most meds may fix or eliminate one problem, but can create other health issues that may be permanent. I believe that we can heal our bodies naturally and I personally will never take a prescription drug again. I have managed to lower my cholesterol & BP much better than Lipitor and other statins, without the harmful effects such as kidney & liver damage, and or arthritis like pain.

If any of you in this group would like to learn more about my trials & tribulations, please feel free to inbox me. I am a single mother of two, and currently work full time; but all of that is about to change very soon.

God bless you all, stay healthy and follow your instincts. Your Dr. may have the best of intentions, but there are many meds out there that can cause internal bleeding, stroke, or death! Do your homework!!!

Respectfully,
Nomedsforme

Nomedsforme, I have bone, joint and muscle pain but I've had that since long before I ever took cholesterol meds and being off cholesterol meds didn't help. Five years ago I developed a rare disease which among other things caused widespread arthroalgia and virtually attacked ever system in my body. I was taken off many of my meds for a while, then had to be on oral steroids for three years. I have osteoarthritis also, I've had problems since my 20's but didn't have elevated cholesterol or take any cholesterol meds until about 7 years ago and I am 68 now.

Dear Tracy, I am very new to this forum, but plan on getting to know most of you through chatting and exchanging ideas. I too have kids and find it relativly easy to eat right. But my Dr. said I was "making bad cholesterol" and since then, I have been on Lipitor, Gemfabrizial and other meds to lower my bad C. Now I have taken control of my own numbers without meds...Kindly inbox me so we can exchange more details.

Best of luck!!!

Hi Robin, I am new to this forum as well. Your situation is definitely fixable. Meds are not a cure all, in fact, they can be an end all....Please let me know what it is that you are doing to get those numbers down. I too had bad numbers, and found that most meds were destroying my liver & kidneys. So I made a switch, and life has been much better since :-)

Warm regards,

Welcome everyone! I also have had a cough for some time. When I asked my doctor, he didn't seem too concerned. It seems worse in the evening. I am off BP meds so I don't think that is it with me. If you get any answers or switch meds, let us know!

Hi. Snowbech. I have taken medications for my blood pressure since my late 20's and I am 68 now . Over the years I have taken several different meds. Some I stopped because of a cough. They were in the ACE inhibitor's classification because apparently they can cause people to cough.

I hope the kids learn as much from me as I do them.

Hi, I am new here.

I have my blood pressure under control as long as I take my BP meds regularly. Until a few months ago I had been on 10 mg Crestor for my high Cholesterol for about 8 years and it was under control. Then my liver functions were elevated so I was put on 500 mg Niaspan. Niacin is some rough stuff until I took an aspirin with it. My latest blood test showed my liver functions elevated again so I was take off of any cholesterol medication. My latest cholesterol was u to 264 and my LDL was up to 170. HDL was good and my triglycerides were back to normal. I have to get lab test done every 3-4 months because of a rare disease I developed 5 years ago that turned my life upside down. It is in remission but it caused some problems I have to have monitored.

I went to the doctor and she jumped all over me for my BP...while on meds my BP is still way to high...I tried to tell her maybe my meds didn't kick in again in time for me since I did an early morning appointment. Anyway I have to get it under control...this is not working for me. I must be doing something wrong. I have forgotten to take my meds a couple of times a week...when I get dragged out and have to run...I forget sometimes to take them...until I am out there and nothing I can do. I have to fix that mess...it might be my downfall.

This is a good month to set my goals of maintenance...and stick with them. NO MATTER WHAT.

Well, I weighed in today and have lost 5 pounds. I showed a weight loss at the doctors office last week but wanted to wait and use the same scale I started with. I am hoping to continue on that path. It is possible. I know as I have done it before. I was a life time weightwatcher and happy with my weight when thyroid cancer hit. I haven't been able to get the scale to work in my favor since! I guess I just need to work a bit harder at the challenge! Luckily, because of help from sparkpeople, my cholesterol and blood pressure are where they are supposed to be! Don't let anyone tell you it can't be done. When I started, I was on meds for both and my cholesterol was over 400. The doctor asked me how long I wanted to live! I am now completely off blood pressure meds and on the lowest dose possible for cholesterol. For that, I am very greatful. Everyone here can be healthier in some way! Use the tools on the site and our sparkfriends for support. You guys are great! Thanks. glenda emoticon

Welcome back Bettie, time to make some major changes for the New Year and what better way to start than the first day of it.

I was surprised to find a couple of new friends this morning when I logged on. More so because I don’t see a blog I commented on or a team they are on with me, but you know what, it doesn’t matter all that matters is that we have been brought together and shall become great pen pals or cyber buddies or better yet SPARK SISTERS.

I picked me up a cute little carry along Weight-Loss Tracker & Guide just before Christmas. I found it in a discount section of Walmart for $4.00. Looking through it I think it will do the trick. It’s only for an 8 week program, but hey that gets me started. The hardest part of SPARK was trying to track all my food. I would do it a few days and skip a few. Now I can jot it right down while eating (hehe), lucky me.

Well we all survived both the end of the world and the end of the year, so you know what this means don’t you. Someone is full of beans. Thank goodness I didn’t put a lot of thought into all that crap and spend my small retirement funds to do something outrageous and stupid. I did stock up on ammunition last year, both for my guns and my bows. Was that a bad girl…..hmmmm I don’t think so I can do a lot of practicing?

I am going out today to do some shopping, I want to buy either a new dining room set or a new sofa…I am not sure which, I guess it will either catch my eye or not. I also want to get some bubble wrap for the Christmas Ornaments…I noticed quite a few of them broke from last year to this. Taking down my tree today…and indoor decorations. The outdoor ones will just have to wait for a while we have far too much snow to be climbing trees and such.

My grandson has his girlfriend over today, my granddaughter has two of her friends over they spent the night last night. Speaking of her….she wanted to sleep in front of the fireplace with all three of them and sleeping bags. She said the bed would be too crowded and she didn’t want to split them up into two rooms. So they camped out in the dining room in front of the fire with all their electronics talking to each other. Apparently they were trying to stay up all night it didn’t work shortly after Midnight they begin to fall off to sleep. About four in the morning Savanna came in begging me to put out the fire that it was too hot and she couldn’t sleep. I did my duty and got up and put out the fire also cracked the window for her burning up cries. An hour late two of them came back in asking me to start the fire again they were freezing. I closed the window and sent the dogs in to sleep with the girls rather than start a fire again. They cuddled up with the dogs and fell back to sleep and did not wake up until almost noon today. Girls…now they want to as Savanna said…get on Jakes girlfriends nerves. Why I ask them, payback was the reply…He opened all three windows on us and we almost froze out butts off. I sat there and thought about it a minute….I didn’t see all three windows open, meaning he closed them and left only what I did there for me to find. Sneaky boy….so I agreed with the girls……get on both their nerves all you want today I said. So they are off and enjoying the afternoon.

I had a hang nail…and silly me I pulled it with my teeth last night now I have a raw spot at the side of my finger that needs to heal. Enough of idle chit chat, I have to accomplish something today. Get up off my butt and get busy. I will see you all later in the evening. I hope you all enjoyed your night and stayed safe. We never go out even for dinner on New Year Eves….can’t trust the other guys driving. A tradition I started as my kids came along. So now no one goes out and celebrates …not even the younger generation. Funny how things pass along without thought. The ones here last night we all gathered around the TV to watch the Ball Drop in Times Square. Shared our resolutions and thoughts for the coming year, played scrabble and got a shocking scare when the hubby set off his bull horn at Midnight. I loved it!

I was in the hospital in October and November for hardened arteries in my calves. Before I was checked out in October the surgeon found that my Potassium was so low I was on the verge of having a heart attack. I only mention this because this is yet another issue I have to contend with.

Hi to all. My name is Robin. My cholesterol is managed barely and my high blood pressure seems ok lately. I take meds for both conditions. I am working on being accountable so I can keep track of my meds better and water intake better, so that hopefully that will produce better health results. I am home bound (in bed) when I do not have Dr. appts. and I am disabled. I can walk, but barely. I plan to change that. How are you all doing? emoticon

Just dropped in for a quick notice and then I am out. I will return in the wee hours of the morning.

First thing, I HAVE SNOW BACK AT HOME safe and sound with me. That’s the best thing that has happen to me personally in days. So thank you all for your prayers and concerns. While I was out today my hubby got a call from a neighbor on our road. She opened the March of Dimes envelope and found the flyer on snow. She call instantly saying that she had seen snow at her neighbors home. Two young men renting an old farm house on 2 acres. My hubby went to the farm and one of the boys told him that the dog had been there and they didn’t know who owned it. He said they checked around and no one knew who owned her. He also told my husband that his roommate had the dog and was at work. He asked where the roommate worked and was told Advance Auto Parts. My hubby left our phone number and ask if he could have the other man call us when he got home.

The hubby not wanting to wait….decided to take a trip to Advance. When he got there…he found MY DOG….lying there behind the counter with my harness on her….and a collar with a tag…that read Empress – if found call (his phone number). Well what could he say….so he turned over the dog to us. My hubby gave him 100.00 for feeding her for the week…and taking care of her. I was happy to have her home so I am not going to say anything, but I know that they were trying to keep her. Not only did she have a name tag and collar on, but they received the same letter from us that their neighbor did. I am going to send the reward to the lady that called my hubby. She called back a second time asking if we got the dog. Thank goodness for honest people. Now I can have a Merry Christmas without worry.

About Lucky – the horse that came in…this was done by a piece of metal sticking out of an old feeder in a pasture. It should have been removed maybe years ago…it was so rusted it was rotted. Playing horses can get into things…no matter how..but having something like this around open is negligent.. Once he was cut his owners did not want to spend the money to fix him…so they called a local vet to have him put down. When the Vet came to service the animal she refused and called the authorities at what she observed around the farm. The horses were removed along with 19 dogs living in the barn in filth. That’s when we got the call for help. Lucky will be fine but this will take months to heal and I do not know how much it will cost and how much time it will take to heal him. The concern is not only infection, but we do not want proud flesh to grow in lumps around the wound. So we have to keep cutting the flesh off and letting it heal from the inside out. The wound is too large to hold sutures. I’ve seen this bad before just never this large of an area at one time. The bottom line is he will be fine now….and well I guess he will get broke to ride and eventually become a pretty cool looking horse. Right now I am looking at least Spring before we can do much with him but love him and keep him clean.

Talk to you all later…

Joanna

It’s been a long few days…and still no dog. I am at my wits end at what to do next. We put up 35 posters today….along with sending out…. 50 cards with information on Snow to our surrounding neighbors. If I don’t hear something by Thursday…I am going to take out a full page in our local news which only comes out once a year. I will also contact a local Radio station to get some advertising. I can’t get much of anything done….I can’t sleep I have nightmares of her coming home all ragged and dirty. At this point I just want her home.

I can’t really stick around..tonight…I just dropped in to let you know I am still here trying to cope with my lost dog issue.

Have a great day everyone.

This will be my last entry for the next several days. I will be leaving at 5am to the Airport and from then on I will not be on my computer, in fact I am not going to take it with me at all. My son has my I-Pad and he loaded a lot of movies on there for me if I end up staying up late or in the cabin. If by some unforeseen reason I need the internet I can get on it with the I-Pad. AT&T said I should turn off my wifi, internet access, and put my phone in Airplane mode for the trip to avoid long distant roaming charges. Sounds like a plan to me.

I haven’t paced yet, I plan to do that in the early morning hours…before I catch a flight. I am a little tired with all the running so I am going to try to rest a few hours and get up at no later than 2 to get packed and shower to go. We are about an hour and a half from the Airport and our flight takes off at 8am so I want to be there at least 1.5 hours prior to takeoff.

The hubby is a little upset with me going…I have never been on a cruise and he thinks something could go wrong..I said maybe but it could go wrong here to so don’t worry and just remember where the insurance papers are just in case. I was able to spend time with all the kids this week…and that felt good. The girls are here….when I am gone…getting all the place ready for Christmas we do the sleigh rides starting on the 17th through 25th. The place is starting to look like a carnival or circus. We have a petting zoo..set up for the kids. A pony arena for kids rides, and both the wagons to run the forest trails. I call it a sleigh ride but in actuality it is horse drawn wagons taking the strolls. We have a huge sleigh but no snow and well it will service just being put up out there…filled with boxes and Santa….sitting there. Guess who Santa is…Yep the Hubby! He hasn’t shaved his beard since he started this about 5 years ago.

I am going to get off this now…by saying goodnight to everyone. Wishing you a wonderful weekend and may all your dreams for a holiday season come true.

Hi there. So I am just joining this team as I have to take my BP a bit more seriously. So I will start reading the ideas and info and implementing them in my life. To be honest, the food part is easy for me....it is the getting my butt to exercise.. Like most people I am so busy with a full time job, three kids, and a hubby who travels...alot. I am also a woman so I put everyones needs and requests before mine. This must change as I had a couple strokes two years ago and want to be around to tell stories about my grandchildren one day.

We can do this....together.

Tracy

It felt good to come online and see old names back chatting and sharing thoughts. Makes it feel like I am home.

The rain is coming down heavy today and putting an extra chill in the air. I took the dogs for a walk this morning but I can tell you I couldn’t wait to get back in out of the weather. I don’t have an agenda yet today but I better get on the ball and put one together. I have only 6 days left before I leave on the cruise.

The final sealing of my green house is being done today. I am looking forward to having such a unique green house and I placed it right across from me…in the front of the house. I ask the builder when I order it to give it a horse motif…and I am looking out there and he has a saddle on the inside on a stand. I did not mean to decorate the inside I meant if he could incorporate a couple of horseshoes or a drawing of a horse on the outside of it not the inside. He went out and bought some old saddle and rack. Geese I didn’t say anything but I have enough old saddles..I could put one of a dozen out there if I wanted to use the inside for that…and they would have more meaning. Since they are used by family members…..maybe my granddaughters first saddle…which I still have or the one she has for her championship title or even one of my old ones that I used back in my RODEO days. That is not what I wanted to do with the inside. I was thinking of putting an easel out there and turning it into a sunlit studio to paint in…or just to sit in on a rainy day. My hubby said he was going to old school it and grow weed now that it’s legal. He’s got the grand kids asking all sorts of questions. He is such a trouble maker.

The grandson came over and detailed the truck…I am going to cover it today….and put it inside storage for the winter. I was thinking…what a waste I had him put in seat warmers…and I am not driving it in winter….hehehe I just don’t want to put any miles on it ….and keep it looking good for next years horse shows. I might go out to PIER ONE today and look for some cushions for a couple of whicker rockers I have. I put my rockers on the deck outside my bedroom door over the spring and summer…the cushions are a little sun faded…and now I want to bring the rockers inside my room for the winter. They make a sitting area that I can take advantage of during the winter months. I just don’t want to have the faded cushions on them in the bedroom.

My granddaughter got her permit and CDL so she purchased her first hand gun…she is so happy like a kid on a toy store. She has been out here on the range practicing. She joined a gun club to be able to shoot indoors at a range. The noise requires you to use ear muffs….so for Christmas I decided to buy her one electronic muffs, a carry bag with her name on it…for her pistol, a cleaning kit, and safety glasses so she isn’t using something that others use at the club. It’s always nice to have your own equipment but can be very expensive.

My daughter-inlaw just had a birthday last week on the 26th, for her present I bought three tickets to see LION KING live here at the Fisher Theatre. She loves those type of things…the last show we went to was Wicked……so I felt it was a nice change of pace….. The show isn’t until January but I bought the tickets early so I could get the perfect seats. A cruise I am going on for my Son her husband…which they paid for themselves…but for his 12.12.12. birthday..I will pick up all the cost we spend while there.

Another two BD’s for the grandkids in January….and a daughter in Feb…with my anniversary…geesh…I need to change the topic I am getting dizzy thinking of all those date and presents I have to buy.

Ok..the hubby just came in and wants to run and get a bite to eat….the grandkids are ready to go so I am out of here. I will watch what I eat…I am just afraid I will be watching it disappear from my plate.

Have a great Sunday.

I spent Thanksgiving day at my Granddaughters….oh my goodness my son out did himself with food. I am so lucky I did not over eat but I did not get a chance to try everything either.

Here is a list of things I ate…
Turkey (White meat only)
Potatoes (Mashed no gravy)
Green bean Casserole
Homemade cranberry dressing
Waldorf Salad

Here are some of the things I passed up, there was so much food. Everyone took some home with them.

Honey Baked Ham…from scratch
Pot Roast with Broiled Potatoes and Carrots
Homemade Turkey and Beef Gravy
Candied Yams with Walnuts and Marshmallows
Deviled Eggs
Shrimp Cocktails
Broccoli, Cauliflower, Carrots mixed with a mushroom cheese sauce…topped with Funions
Tossed Salad made from Several Green.
Good Fresh Baked Bread fromt he Bakery with Honey Butter
Homemade Pumpkin Pies 3 of them
I large Birthday Cake… to celebrate my daughter’s birthday…even though she is gone we celebrate her BD…since she has a son that lives with me. He gets to blow out the candles and we just pass around stories that keep her memory alive.

My son said he cooked beginning at 5:30 in the morning and we ate at 6 in the evening. I was so happy to see all my family there together….it is rare that I get both my boys at the same time together.

I hope you all shared similar happiness with family and friends. We did have a little bit of a dampener on the day. The hubby and I visited his mother in the senior home and she is not doing well. She begged him to take her out for a hamburger, but of course she is bed ridden and she can’t leave so when we left he was crying. She is getting close to her time to go…but today her memory was pretty much in tact…and she did well.

Take Care…and Hugs Everyone.

Another no response day...this is beginning to seem like a one man show around here.

I forgot to take my meds yesterday and the day before...by the time I realized it was way too late. I did take them this morning and will hopefully stay on top of it. Been on vacation while watching Sandy on the east coast. I just got pictures on my phone from home...hehe showing the snow this morning. I don't want to go back to that but I have to.

Trying to get in some walking and exercise while still in good weather. I hope all of you are doing the same.

I got to it Jill...some of them get tricky.

Today doesn't look like it's going to be very sunny but overall the weather is pleasant so I am going to take advantage of it. I went out yesterday with the hubby, I found a couple of properties in a local town just south of me. One was two store front buildings with 3 apartments over top the other was a 2600 sf home right in the center of town on Main Street. I was excited to get into the house and take a look. A few loves and a few more dislikes put me up in air over buying the property. The house has been abandoned for 15 years. Belongs to a preacher and his wife, they say they couldn’t part with it but have now let it fall behind in taxes….which it will go up for auction in February if not paid. They want a quick cash sale. Everything sounded pretty good until I took a look at the second and third floor. Someone hacked up the rooms….trying to make it a multiple family home I think. Stairways were closed off and access separated….closets were hacked in two in a few of the upper rooms…however no sign of a second kitchen. It looks like someone took out the original kitchen (sad face) and instead of restoring they put in a cheap 70’s one…the roof is in need of dyer repair along with all the upper ceilings and some walls…(major restoring project) might as well gut the whole upper level. The main level needs the kitchen and bath gutted and put back to original décor. The front porch was enclosed…it needs to be removed…and new columns and flooring needs to be put on house. The outside is shingled not stone not brick or stone…well here take a look: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/115-Main
-St-Gregory-MI-48137/23933343_zpid/ What I fell absolutely in love with is the stairway and wood trim and doors on the main floor. The hubby said maybe we should let it go to auction and bid there for just the back taxes. We are looking at over 100,000 to restore it to is early grander.

My last day before traveling…I want to get so much done today and so little time to do it in. I can’t trust leaving the hubby behind with a list…he gets carried away and starts other projects. My my my what can you do with a man like that. I need to be here to keep him focused. My house is still a mess from the floors and now he has the electrical torn apart replacing all outlets to match the new trim on the walls. He has to stain the oak doors we installed in place of the old closet and bedroom doors, he has to repair my grandsons bed where the frame broke and won’t hold the mattress, not to mention all my furniture is sitting in the music room stacked on top of each other. And, look I am about ready to leave…what is he talking about going outside and taking down a fence to allow him access to a wooded area that he wants to cut lumber out of. I am like…you bean brain finish this project before you get started on another…he is like don’t worry it will all be done…I am like Yeah RIGHT!!!!!!!!

Ok enough I need to get busy…have a great MONDAY girls.

Joanna

Another day just went by and I can't believe that the weather was so great today. I managed to get in just a little bit of riding. I stayed in the arena today since I was on my own. I don't feel I have been back riding long enough to head out on my own. I kept up with my blind girl and we did some trotting and a little cantering (running). My back could not take it for very long so I mostly walked and did a few patterns. It was good for both of us I think. My inner thighs are not hurting as much as they were in the beginning. Still an ache and a moan you can hear as I get up or down but for the most part I am coming along.

I have one more day and then I am off to Vegas girls. I plan to enjoy the warmer weather and spend some quality time with my boy. He wants to drive over to California for a couple of days, sounds like fun. The grand daughter is coming on Friday and going back on Monday so if we leave Vegas it will be after that. She has never been there and wants to see the casinos.

Hope you are all having a great Sunday....

Hello all hope everyone had a great week also, I been enjoying the cold weather, been in my kitchen trying recipes for soups and breads all the while heating up the house too.
I'm starting to get on track with this low salt , now if i can make myself walk for at least a half hour every other day will be doing much better!
side note : hubby came home and said this low salt diet is working he can squeeze by the cars in the bay and he does not scrape his belly anymore.. LOL had to share .. :)

Hi team, how is things going with all of you? I have been working my butt off trying to get things in order for winter. Burrrr the mornings are getting very cold, but by mid afternoon they warm up enough to get going. It is much easier to exercise in the cooler weather than it was in the hot summer. I am just not looking forward to cold weather and the snow that will be coming.

It’s only 10:30 and I can’t keep my eyes open any longer. I was going to try to watch a little TV but I think I will have to pass on that tonight. I just wanted to stop by and say hi…and to thank everyone that took a look at my latest blog. I hope you all have a great weekend and that things will be even better the coming weeks. I will stop again tomorrow.

Night all

I too have given up on sodium. I eat absolutely none if I can help it, the problem is that it's in everything. My doctor did suggest to me...to try sea salt in place of salts. I do use that once in a while but not to often or maybe often enough. Unless you cook the food from scratch you are getting sodium in it.

Glabarbera...sticking to it seem to be my hardest goal. I can make all kind of plans but somehow they just get side tracked along the way. I am getting in as much as I can but no actually set in stone plans are in place.

Yep it's good to see a little inter action on the team..after all that is what we are here for right?

As for me I am chillin this Sunday...doing nothing at all. Just a little leisure time before I hit the bricks tomorrow. No TV so far, no reading, no computer until now, no cleaning, a little bit of eating but not much of that either. No barn work, no chores, no dog walks, nothing just lying back taking in the surroundings. It's not often I get such a day so I am taking advantage of it. Everyone is gone and the place is quiet except for the sounds of the animals.

It is great to see so much activity on the site! This is a great time of year for outdoor exercise as the temps are letting up. Hubby and I are both trying to increase walking time. Great for cholesterol, blood pressure and weight loss! Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

Hi everyone, I hope you are all watching your numbers of your HBP and Cholesterol levels. I know I am... I have just returned from Vacationing in Florida where I got a chance to meet up with a SPARKS friend. We had dinner together and chatted for several hours. It was fun to meet one of my team members. I think we should try to get together more often with members.

Here in Michigan we are looking at some cooler weather. I am happy about that but sad to see the end of summer. Fall is a beautiful time of year up here, but still we all know it's just one season away from that cold winter. I am going to take advantage of the Fall with some horseback riding and walking.

I hope you are all making plans for how you are going to spend your free time for Fall.

Hi ShawnteeJ welcome to the team. I guess you just took the first step and that is knowing you need to lose the weight and get healthy. There are many good recipes that are out there you can look into .... that will give you a kick start. Walking is a way to get started on the weight loss. I have a list of great foods I will post in the morning for you to take a look at all you have to do is incorporate them into your daily diet and drop a few things at a time off the daily diet. Sounds simple but it does take a little bit of work that is what we are all doing here.

Good luck and will post soon.

Hi Everyone, I am new to this group and site. I just recently found out (yesterday) that I have high blood pressure. So this is all new to me, I am looking for suggestions on how to monitor and eat right. I have been given a directive from my doctor to lose 10 to 15 pounds within a month. Help please!

Welcome to our team. Keep exploring the Spark people site. There are so many helpful items and people here. You can even check cholesterol content for your day after you have logged all your food. it has helped me tremendously in that area. Good luck and let us know if we can help!

Hi, I'm new to this site and this forum. Still not sure how all this works, but I have entered my foods and exercises for the past couple of days so, so far so good. I too need to manage my cholesterol and HBP, so praying that this is the site for me. Lord knows I've tried everything else. :) Well, I just wanted to stop and say hi.

I got to do it again today…RIDE MY HORSE….the girls went home for school today…so I was alone with the hubby…I had him come out to watch just in case something went wrong. I was so sore but I do remember if I don’t just get over the pain it will just keep returning. So I managed to get on today…..but I decided to ride a larger horse that can see…and is a little more smooth in the gate (movement). I chose a large Painted Horse name ROANY…….he is about 1400lbs of pure joy. I am so happy to have made that choice…I had a great ride…I did some walking, bending, and trotting. His trot is not fast I can slow him to a crawl and it feels like a Cadillac compared to a Chevy Super Sport….larger and smoother.

I spent about 45 minutes in the saddle with my hubby encouraging me on a little. He use to love to watch me ride and brake horses, now he was just happy to see me back on after so many years. I did have to wrap my ankle and foot so it would not hurt…but other than that things went really well. I will be off the horses for a few days but when I get back I am going to remount right away and keep it up every day that I can. I felt so elated to be back on his back. I am going to use him for a few weeks and switch back and forth to the blind girl a few times. I really want to get her in shape she is such a good horse.

I also sent in my forms for the Novi Equestrian Expo…so we will be setting up a booth there this year in November for our rescue group Hugs 2 Horses Rescue Inc. Well I am not going to stay on long I do have work to get done before I close the computer. So all of you have a great night and I hope to read your post tomorrow evening when I get settled in Florida.

I do know what you mean about the fresh fruit and veggies...best kind to get while you can. I am right there with you. As for me back to work...it's going to be a long night.

Joanna
