I think I pretty much blew this past weekend. Friday night I went wedding dress/bridesmaid dress shopping with my best friend who is getting married and we had Chinese food for dinner at 10:30. Saturday was going well until I apparently had my first gall stone. After being at the ER from 11-4 Saturday night, I decided that I "deserved" chocolate donuts for breakfast Sunday morning. Oh well, hopefully next weekend goes better. Good job to everyone that stayed on track this weekend!

Yes, Kim, I listen mainly to downloaded books on tape from Audible.com on my MP3 player. (Some local libraries do downloads also or you can always rent CDs or cassettes.)

I'm bored by music - I know that's weird, but that's me. However, I get these excellent audiobooks, making sure they're the long, unabridged ones (10+ hours each) and away I go. It totally makes the time disappear when I'm walking, hiking or even on the treadmill or lifting weights. I've been known to take one more lap or do 10 more minutes just to hear the next chapter! Frankly, a good book is better to me than any walking companion! emoticon

If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer.

Wow, I'm so proud of all of my fellow warriors!! Great idea Walker about resetting the tracker for the new year. You must have burned allot of calories skiing. Congrats at the maintenance-great job!! I'm glad to hear you are feeling better, so many weird bugs going around. Alicia, dancing does burn allot of calories. When I used to go out and have a few and dance, my legs would be sore the next morning (Yes, I know it was from only dancing, lol). Awesome job Chris with all of that exercise. You listen to books on tape while walking? DRC, there is an article in Spark about SAD. It is a very serious disorder. Have you seen your Dr. about it? You did awesome with all of the exercise this weekend!! KSub, it's good you took Sunday off to rest your body from Saturday's kickboxing. Will you go to that class again? Great job getting in exercise this morning when you know there won't be time for it tonight. Have a great time at the game!!

Monday, Monday....
Congrats KSUB!! YAY! And Aliciat and DRC - sounds like you guys did well, too.

Am glad to say I'm a warrior for the first Jan weekend. My interest in food returned yesterday evening and I really had to fight cravings for ice cream, but I did it!

DRC - I think I'm also feeling that SAD effect... we build so much up in the holiday season and with a vacation we had, it was like double excitement and now I keep thinking "I have nothing to look forward to..."! But I guess we have lots to look forward to if we put our minds to it and one thing I have learned as I keep getting older: Christmas will be back around before you realize!

I am happy to say that I finally weighed in and while the last 4 days and being sick may have helped shave a few pounds off, I was suprised at how I had not gained as much over my vacation as I thought. I rounded up and am starting back at 148 and I even reset my ticker to make that my starting weight since this is a new year. I know I started at 160 w/ SP, but that was last year and I think I need to put last year behind.

Am looking forward to another strong weekend, although I am helping host a baby shower on Sunday and I know it is going to be a huge challenge for me to stay in range b/c of all the yummy foods we are planning!!

Hi everyone. I'm impressed by everyone's weekends. I can't do classes anymore-too lazy I guess (LOL). Actually, I have a problem committing to someone else's timetable. But I did find the Exercise TV on Comcast's On Demand Digital Cable and tried a yoga stretch session and a killer ab workout. There are a bunch more I'll try, too.

Other than that, I am not sure how to classify my weekend. I got in cardio, and tried out some treadmills. I wasn't thinking about food at all, but I think that back fired on me. I ate breakfast, because that is habit, but then it would be 4 pm, and I realized I hadn't eaten anything else. So I tried to make smart decisions, and eat, even thoguh I wasn't particularly hungry. I had a high cal day on Friday (I had a retirement lunch to go to) but low cal days on Sat and Sun (that whole lack of interest in food thing). I think I am starting to feel that SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) effect that usually gets me in the winter. That would explain my lethargy and lack of interest in, well, anything.

Congrats Alicia!!!! It sounds like everyone was doing pretty well this weekend. I am so happy to report for I believe the first time that I've been a member of this group that I too was a warrior. Friday I exercised and was within range, more on the high end of my range but still not above! Saturday I did the kickboxing class as I mentioned before (and I must say my back and arms are sore so it did something haha) and I was also at the low range of my calories. Sunday I didn't get any exercise in but my body was pretty tired but I was at the low range in calories. So all in all it was success and I feel so good!!! And I'm so happy to report the scale also moved in the right direction this morning!!!! I'm making Mondays my official way in day to try and give me the extra boost to stay strong over the weekend.

This morning I got up and worked out. Tonight we're going to Manhattan for a basketball game. It's not til 9pm so it's gonna be a late night b/c it's a 2 hour drive home. But it's Bob Huggins against Bobby Knight on Big Monday ESPN so I wouldn't miss it for anything! Hubby and I have already planned where we're grabbing dinner so I have already calculated my calories for the day. Based on my total as of now I actually need to eat some more food so I might treat myself to a pretzel at the game b/c they're my favorite!!!

I really hope everyone else continued the early success they were having in the weekend. I feel so happy this morning and I hope I can feel this way every Monday for a long time!

Hi all! I did fairly well this weekend. I drank a little, not good, but I danced a lot while I was out so I was burning some calories off! It's my mom's birthday today, but we didn't have cake so I didn't have that to worry about. I went in the high range each day but I exercised so I guess overall I was a warrior. Woo! First time in awhile.

Hi Warriors! Well, it sounds like you guys are attacking this weekend hard and putting that holiday grazing and side-tracking behind! YAY!!

KSUB - I was laughing reading your post about the kick-box instructor! How awesome that you went and tried it! You have done a few of these new classes - good for you! And it is great to hear that your hubby is on the bandwagon - that sooo helps!

Chris - Good for you on mininizing the grazing... I've been amazed at what a tough habit that is for me to break after only 1.5 weeks!!

Kim - 500 cals!! YAY!! You go girl!

I've had a good weekend is well. Calories have not been a problem the last few days thanks to a wonderful little tummy bug my kids brought home. In fact, I have had the opposite problem of trying to make myself eat b/c a piece of toast and crackers only gets you so far. Feeling much better today though... got out and did a 4 mile walk w/ some jogging and calories are on track. Yesterday I opted for my 60 min yoga tape since I was still feeling puny, but it felt pretty hard!

It is so nice to hit this first Jan. weekend successfully! Good look w/ the the rest of today everyone!

I'm doing pretty darn well this weekend. A little grazing but nothing that doesn't fit into my overall calorie range. I got out and took an excellent hill walk today. I need to find my USB cable. I'm almost to the end of my book on my MP3 player and I need to load a new one before my next walk!

I'm very proud of myself. I've stuck to a core/strength training routine for over a week now (4th session today), longest I've been able to do it since 1998! I think this is the one. I know it's not that I just found a magical routine, it's just that I was finally ready to do it.

I'm also doing very simple flexibility work, using the Yoga in Bed book (basically yoga for really lazy, wimpy people). Hey, whatever works, right?

If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer.

Kim sounds like you're having a pretty good weekend! Good luck with the studying!

I went to the Cardio Kickboxing class. I think it was one of the toughest classes I've been to. The instructor had the most energy I think I've seen in a person. Crazy thing was she was teaching a strength training class following the kickboxing. I think everyone in the class laughed when she said if we wanted to feel our legs tomorrow we could stay. I'm sure I'll be sore tomorrow with just her 1 hour class!

Was in range on calories yesterday and today. I just keep telling my husband that it's helping me so much that he's trying to lose as well. We're just feeding off of each other and giving each other support. Also helps that neither one of us is wanting to go out to eat or anything!!!

Welcome back Walker! It sounds like the ski trip was a fun time. If I was on a vacation like that, I wouldn't journal at all-it's a break from having to do work of any type.

KSub, which class did you decide on today? They both sound fun, but I LOVE kickboxing.

I did go over my calories last night, but had walked and done my bike too. This morning, did TurboJam Cardio party 3. At my weight, I think that's about 500 calories burned. I'm at about 1200 calories right now, and I'm thinking of a Lean Cuisine mushroom/spinich pizza now before I hit the homework.

I hope everybody has a fun, healthy weekend!!

Happy Friday! Walker I'm sure you got tons of exercise so I doubt the scale will be so scary! I'm sending good vibes your way!

I've continued my healthy eating habits and now the big test comes, it's officially the weekend! (well, once I can ditch this workplace!) Hubby and I are planning to just rent a couple movies and have a date night at home. We thought about going to see a movie but didn't want the temptation of the popcorn b/c it's so hard for us to resist. We also didn't feel like eating out. So we decided we're just gonna stay in tonight. I think that will help keep me in control on calories. Tomorrow will be toughest on me because he'll be at work most of the day and when I'm home alone I tend to want to eat. I'll just have to find some things to keep me busy.

Hope everyone has a good weekend.

Happy New Year, Weekend Warriors!!
We are back from vacation and holidays.
The good news is that I skiied 4 days in a row, got TONS of exercise doing it, and my legs are STILL just now recovering.

The bad news is that being with 11 other people and with limited choices on food, I just didn't do much to keep calories in check at all. After a day of skiing and being totally hungry and exhausted, I had a hard time finding my willpower to resist.

Like the rest of you I'm ready to get myself back on track! Unfortunately I still have the desire to graze and did so yesterday along w/ skipping my workout, but today I got up and did spin class and weights and the eating has been excellent so far. I am feeling like I'm getting things in control and I know I just need a few days of consecutive work to get in the groove again. KSUBIZZO - Congrats on the 3 days.. I'm going to chase you!

I think I'm going to be joining many of you in the having gained a few pounds club, but still afraid to step on the scale and confirm the damage. I'm going to wait until a few more days of strong eating and exercise have gone by so that I don't let negative news derail me before my momentum bulids again.

This weekend should be a good one... will have runs/walks planned for both days and no major events to deal with. Family may gather one day to do a belated Christmas, but it shouldn't be too filled w/ food.

Lets start January with a good weekend!!

The key to success is not perfection, but perseverance

Kim I gained as well and it's always so sickening to me how fast it can go on!

There's actually 2 classes I'm debating between. one is No Limits Circuit. Based on the description it's cardio/strength training workout set up in stations. I'm sure very challenging. The other class I might try is cardio Kickboxing. Sounds like your pretty typical kickboxing class but I've not done many other than videos at home so it sounds fun.

Good afternoon warriors!! Sounds like we are all ready to get back to our normal, healthy lives. That's a great sign of development for us, don't you think?

Way to go on 3 days in a row KSub. Is that a new aerobics class you plan attending on Saturday?

I so agree with you Didi-I have no desire to eat any junk food. Jumping rope is such a great exercise. I know you will reach your 20 minute goal in no time at all.

Way to go gals in getting back on track. I was bummed I gained 7 pounds since 12/23. I was officially back on track starting yesterday and boy it felt good. Have a great day!!!

My goal is to get to 20 mins without stopping and get some ST in on Sunday. No plans for socializing....I think all of my family and friends feel the same way...burnt out!!Just sticking to my SP plan is all I Really want to do.

It's Wednesday so I thought I'd start the new thread! I'm on day 3 of my healthy living! I did so bad for about 2 weeks and it caught me and bit me in the butt and chose to stay there too! With the new year I'm really dedicating myself to sticking with this! My husband is trying to lose so that's helping me as well! I even got him set up on sparkpeople and he logged everything yesterday and I think he's kind of enjoying it!

No big plans for the weekend. The Chiefs managed to get into the playoffs and they play at 3:30 on Saturday. Then KSU bball is on tv at 7 so I'll be watching tv most of the day Saturday. ;-) Not sure if we'll stay home or go to a friends house. Don't really feel like doing the bar watching method because there's too much temptation there! No big plans Sunday. I'm hoping to try out an aerobics class Saturday that looks intriguing! That's about it for me! Hope everyone is having a good start to the New Year!
