Hey folks,
I'm so excited to have found this group. I have so much difficulty on weekends especially now that it's wedding season! I'm getting ready for my own wedding in September and find it hard to stay on track when I don't know what I'll be eating and in social situations with friends. Looking forward to any tips people have.

OMG! This is EXACTLY the group I've been looking for. I always break the calorie bank on the weekends! I'm so glad someone finally came up with a way to keep me accountable.

I'M IN!

Keep it simple - complications make things complicated!

Hi All,
I just joined the gruop and wanted to introduce myself. Weekends are definitely where I struggle, even though I exercise both Saturday and Sunday, it seems like my food choices are where I get into trouble, especially in social situations. I am hoping to gain insight and inspiration from this group and look forward to getting to know people better.

Hi, Patty! I haven't been too good about checking in recently (with anything on Spark--not just here) so hopefully I'll do better. Usually we start a new weekend thread towards the end of the week, and post plans and accomplishments. Feel free to start the thread whenever you want, or join in once someone else starts it. I look forward to chatting with you over the weekends!

I wanted to introduce myself to this team since I just joined today. My name is Patty and weekends are difficult mainly because there is so much unstructured time. I would love to get support around keeping focused on the weekends like I try to do on the weekdays. Look forward to reading other people's struggles and successes.

Hi and welcome to the team!!!!!

Okay, here's how this works....usually someone, anyone, starts a new thread for the week, usually Wednesdays.

We set out what we plan on doing/eating over the weekend and try to stick to it.
If there's an occasion(like a party,etc...) this is where we come for support over the weekend if possible.

I'm not sure if theres a thread started for this weekend,if not feel free to start one!!! if you need to be supported:)

Chat later,
Didi

Hi Katherine emoticon

Looking forward to chatting with you about weekend challenges you may encounter on your journey!!!

Have a great weekend....and check in if you feel the need to.

So far so good.... I'm still having a strong Friday, got my ST done and will be running my 4 kms within the hour. Still got to go cook at my friends house tonight. I've saved cals for 2 wine spritzer...made with diet 7UP and 3 ozs of wine in each glass. So I should be fine in the liquor department be fine.
Hoping we won't have time to snack on anything....Wish me luck!!! I need a strong night to get through the weekend.

Corned beef doesn't have to be too bad. Limit yourself to 3 ounces of the beef and eat as much of the cabbage, carrots, onions, etc. as possible. Eat the equivalent of a small potato and you're good to go. Man, that sounds good!

I think a great feature of this group is that it allows me to think through the weekend far ahead of time. I have a bit of time to plot out new and interesting opportunities to exercise, such as taking a hike with the family, going with my older son to the elementary school to shoot hoops or play on the soccer field, etc.

So take the opportunity to look for different ways to combine fitness with other goals - playing with your kids, bonding with your significant other, raising money for a good cause, heck, helping your mother move to a new house - all good ways to exercise.

Glad to have you here!

If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer.

Carri, I am just the opposite from you. I can control my exercise on the weekends, but I tend to go overboard on the foods. Well, it's more like eaating the WRONG foods. As for this weekend, around Wednesday, someone starts the thread for the weekend (or start it yourself!). We talk about plans and potential challenges, and feel free to share. I think your plans for this weekend sound very good. I would think that eating some corned beef would be fine--just keep yourself to a portion per meal. I love the idea of honoring your father by toasting graveside. that's a great tribute. And at the shower, fill up on the veggies (I am sure there will be veggies!) and don't go overboard with the other stuff. track what you eat, and try to get some kind of workout in that day, even if you can just get in a walk. On the other day, make sure you get a good workout, and I think you'll do well. Good luck!

Hi everyone. My name is Carri, I am a happily married stay at home mommy of 2 wonderful boys. I started here last June at 210 lbs, as of todays weigh in I am at 166 lbs. Most of the weight was lost last year.

This group sounds like just what I need. I have no trouble eating right and exercising during the week, but the weekends--forget it!! I actually stay pretty well within my Spark set goals for eating (with occasional overindulgences), but I cannot seem to get my butt moving to do my exercise program.

I hope you don't mind me joining your group. I am especially going to need support this weekend. You see I am Irish, and I lost my father this past Nov. Every year I made him (and the family) a corned beef dinner Well this year we are going to the cemetary to do our yearly shot of Irish Wiskey graveside as a tribute to him, I am still making the dinner, and I also have a bridal shower that day. I love Corned beef, but I also know it is super fattening. I know that doctors recommend taking a day off from any weight loss program, but by taking the day off I also know I can sabotage my routine. So if anyone can give me a pep talk, and help motivate me into sustaining a weekend program as well, I would really appreciate it. Thanks for letting me join in!

Welcome! Every week someone (could be you!) starts a thread for the upcoming weekend, usually by Wednesday or so. What seems to be the common pattern for us is that we'll go onto the thread, plan out the upcoming weekend, discuss any challenges or obstacles and strategize ways to overcome them.

You may log on over the weekend with any updates.

Then often after the weekend has ended, you log on and tell the group how it went, lessons learned, etc.

I find that the mere act of thinking out the weekend before it happens inspires me to do new things, try new recipes, exercises, etc. that I might not do if I just blindly cruised through the weekend.

If hunger isn't the problem, food isn't the answer.

Hi everyone I am new to this challenge and am curious about how to participate. Weekends are my weakness - no exercise, no tracking, no nothing. Just trying to keep busy, clean house, cook what I can, etc... and by Monday I have eaten incorrectly, not tracked anything and feel pretty bad about it.

So, I am in!

Chris--that's a great idea about looking into a guest pass. And I agree with you--budget in a slice or two of pizza (I can never turn it down, either!) and go with diet soda, or there is always water.

I had no plans this weekend either. But so far, so good. Friday was quiet. Today, I went to the Horse Expo with my sister, and walked most of the time. Then I went to the gym, and did an hour on the treadmill and 40 minutes swimming laps. Came home and had a good dinner, and now I am about to crawl in bed and crash...zzzzz.... Tomorrow I hope to go to Curves and ride my bike on the trainer (indoors--its gotten cold!). I'll report later and let you all know if I can go two-for-two this weekend.

See if you can budget in one or two slices of pizza into your daily calories (so you don't feel deprived). You may also be able to get a day pass to the facility so you can work out if you wanted to. Avoid the sugar soda, hopefully they have a diet version or some other non-caloric beverage (I hate wasting perfectly good calories on drinks anyway).

Hi cdavis, welcome...and good luck this weekend!!!

Well I've got no serious plans this weekend and that's usually not a good thing!!
I do plan on doing some ST and rope jumping on Saturday. On Sunday, I usually have a long run. I 'm hoping for a little over 4 miles.

My kids were invited to a birthday party on Sunday afternoon, and the mother of the birthday girl invited the parents as well...it's at a sport facility with a swimming pool (pool party). Anyways, I just found out she"s serving pizza and pop!! ( I love pizza..it's one of my weaknesses!!!). So I'm going to have to come up with some will power to resist the temptation orcome up with a really good excuse. I'm not a member of this facility, so using their gym while the party is going on is out of the question.

Wish me luck!!!

I've already planned out my weekend food, all I've got to do is stick to the program, and I'll be fine ...right???

Chat later, Didi emoticon

Welcome, CDAVIS73! Every week (usually by Wednesday) one of us (could be you!), starts a new weekend thread (such as Jan 6-7). People pop onto the thread, plan out their weekend, discuss challenges and obstacles they're facing, etc. We sometimes update during the weekend, but often do a debrief after the weekend to let everyone know how it went. Happy to have you join us!

I am soooo glad I found this group. I had such a hard time this weekend staying focused. I stayed within my cals but went above on my fat intake. It's nice to have a group that can give me encouragement.

Who am I, if not an example to my children?

Hi! Just a brief plug. I started a group (it absolutely doesn't compete with this group - I'll still be planning out my weekends here and doing my debriefing!). It's called "Lost a Lot-Keeping the Spark Alive!" and it's mainly focused at those who've lost 20 pounds or 10% of their body weight. Kind of an old-timers club to share some of the challenges and issues faced by those who've been doing this for a long time. I don't see it as a specialized group like this one, more of an occasional. Anyway, if you want to join, jump on over.

Okay folks ... this is it. I just need to make it through THIS weekend, including today (Thursday) and Friday. I'm killer during the week. Since Monday I have done 3 spinning classes (1 hour each), lifted twice, walked 2 miles, and then played racquetball for 3.5 hours. Plus I've eaten well.

BUT ... here comes the weekend. One day at a time ... actually one MEAL at a time.

Please pray fro me as I will do the same for you.

Have a super day ... and stick with your plan!

Chris

Good afternoon everyone. My name is Jennifer and I have alot of trouble on the weekends. I think its because I have a set schedule all week and the weekend is out of the norm for me. Sat/Sun. are my lazy days so I definatley need the motivation so I'm not constantly "starting fresh" on Mondays.

Thanks for having me!

DRC - Thanks so much! I also appreciate your words of encouragement re: the Thanksgiving week/weekend.
Right now I'm feeling very motivated about this 4 week goal and it feels good to have 3 really strong days done. However, I'm sure as I get to each weekend with events and out of the ordinary food challenges, I'll really need some motivation... that and/or a good kick in the pants!!

Walker--great goal, and we're here if yu need motivation. Your vacation sounds great. Skiing takes a lot of energy, and if your ski vacations are anything like mine, I am so tired after a day on the slopes, I can't even do too much damage in the evenings! LOL...

Welcome Julie! I know that we all struggle with the same thing you describe, especially on the weekends. Sometimes it feels like you just work hard to undo the weekends or a few bad days... I know that has been my life here since August.
This is a great forum to talk about those struggles, vent about it, get tips and advice from others, and mostly have another way to try and stay "publicly" accountable.
The new thread for this weekend has already started, so you should pop over and start setting forth plans for how you are going to tackle the weekend and make it one that stays on track with your eating and exercise goals. Then check in as you need to through the weekend and on Monday report your success as a Warrior or "confess" about any slips you might have had and let that get you ready to do better the next weekend.

I'm publicly saying here and now that this next weekend will be on track and that my goal is to have stayed reasonably on track from now until the weekend before Christmas. That is 4 weeks and I think a good short-term goal for me to focus on. Christmas will be a bit hard for me b/c we are going on vacation for a week, but thankfully skiing so at least there will be good exercise. Anyway, I want and need to stay focused on these next 4 weeks so I can gain some good ground!!

jeeeez I'm frustrated. I do well for a few days, then terrible for the next few....It would be nice to make it to Xmas at a lesser weight than last year (180-182) but it's so easy to jump up a few more lbs!!! I'm about to go exercise now, here at home - and have my light dinner planned out for afterwards, and then I'll have only gone over 50 calories. I was under yesterday. If I can just keep that up!

Whew! Hope everyone is having a good healthy week!

Julie

WOW! look at all these warriors!!!

This team is all about focusing your energy on the weekend. In the m-f routine, it's a lot easier to PLAN to reach your goals...it's the weekend, when all you plan is the things to destroy all your hard work....where we all foul up!!

So each week, one of the members will start an upcoming weekend "topic", where we all make a plan on how we are going to combat any other sins we did plan!!

Then after all is said and done we report in: Warrior or Destroyer!?!?

Even when you have to report the big D...it feels good to come clean, and re-enforcing to hear how everyone else did...

and with that...WELCOME!!!!!

Don''t be afraid to SHAKE THINGS UP!!! Let''s ZUMBA!

Hi! I'm new to this team. I really struggle on the weekends, and I'm hoping that this group will help me to be accountable for what I do (or don't do) on the weekends. I do good M-F, but by Sunday night I've blown it and I find myself starting over every Monday morning. I'm tired of it and hopefully with a little motivation from this team I can turn my bad habits into good habits and see some real progress... emoticon

Welcome everybody!! This team is awesomely inspiring. We all discuss upcoming plans for the weekend, then after the weekend, discuss what we could have done differently. Most of all-we always come back on Mondays-no matter how bad we did. Each weekend we start a new thread, if you noticed on the previous page. Those are where most of our discussions take place. Again-welcome!!! What a great weekend to join!!
