I think we all need to try some kind of a challenge each month to help each other meet those challenges on the weekend. If you meet the challenge we report it to our team. Let us say one of our challenges are meeting the calorie needs over the weekend...for an example: than so be it- we log it here. If we are struggling we ask our team mates to help us through it. I know it is working on our team and it is keeping us motivated. We all need extra energy every day to meet our needs.

Oh i am absolutely awful at the weekends. unfortunately i don't have access to a computer or near anyone who does have one at the weekends which also could be a downfall but i just constantly eat at the weekends and i need motivation to stop it.

I am in a challenge and we weigh ourselves on tuesday mornings. Sometimes I cheat and get on the scale just to see where I am at, but I don't "count" it. I consider it a go-by until the next official weigh in.

Mind over fatter.

I usually weigh myself on Thursday and then there is times I skip a week or two. I hope that will make a difference in doing that.

My weigh in is usually once a week on a thursday evening, just before the weekend so that hopefully I will continue thru the weekend.

I generally weigh myself once a week. I picked Tuesday mornings. In my mind, I have 1 day to try and fix whatever I did wrong over the weekend before I weigh in. It doesn't always work. But I know that on Mondays I will usually try to be much better than I was on the weekend.

I used to be a daily scale person myself. The only way I could get away from that was by giving my scale to a friend to hold for me. Now, if I must weigh myself, I do it at my Curves, but only if I am there first thing in the morning. I try not to, but it is an addiction (LOL). I only want to make sure I am not sabotaging myself, so I am looking for large leaps, not a pound or two in either direction. But I wish I could completely stop doing that, too.

Kind of a random question, but how often does everybody weigh themselves? Is it wise to wait for a specific day or days- or just pick one and stay consistent with it?

Any suggestions how I can stay away from the sweets? The weekends are especially difficult--I am so tempted!

I still stay in my range, but I am just not eating the right things.

I did well today. I am about 50 calories below my goal but they are probably covered by sneaky calories I may have accidentally not tallied correctly. I actually kept my exercise streak alive for three days now- I had to check twice because it WASN'T extremely painful (therefore it couldnt possibly be three days already!) but it was.

hmmmm.........perhaps staying active wasn't as bad as I always dreaded it would be?!

Anyway, I did core strength for about 22 minutes and elliptical for 10. I am going to call it a night seeing as it is an hour from tomorrow.

See ya all then!

well, I think I am off my slump. I stayed in my calorie range and did 50 mins of cardio, and took a walk with my husband for about 75mins (even though it was more like a "leisurely stroll")

Anyway, I am aiming that this is the beginning of a streak for me, so call this day 1.

Hi everyone! I guess not everyone is posting on the 8/19 - 8/20 weekend topic page that was created by NMC to specifically talk about this last weekend. If you haven't, go back to the main Weekend Warrior's team page and you'll see what a lot of us have reported.

I'm happy to say that per my posted I was a "Warrior"! Not without some challenges, but I guess challenges are things we'll have making this lifestyle change.

I'm overall really happy w/ the weekend even though it was a struggle - my first in range weekend in a long time!

Thanks to everyone for the posts and support and sharing - having this team challenge has really helped!

Yesterday was a good day too. Stayed in the calorie range and exercised again...walking and core stuff on the stability ball. I was looking through another get in shape book that I started and realized that since July (before I joined Spark) I've lost 8 lbs. That is something I would have never predicted I could do. I was feeling sorry for myself and old. Thanks to this site, things are changing!

I was EXTREMELY busy this weekend and missed out on my goal of posting to and checking spark, so I am going to have to try harder next weekend. I didn't even pick up after myself for the most part - my bedroom and bathroom look like the closets and cabinets threw up. Will be doing some serious cleaning tonight.

Mind over fatter.

Miss Jenny -- that was really funny. I exercised last night: 20 minutes walking tape, and 30 minutes stretching/relaxation tape. I'm really not flexible anymore. Today, I went to the gym for some circuit training: 6 minutes on treadmill, then 3 sets of 15 on leg machines, then 5 minutes on recline bike, Level 5, then 3 sets of 15 on upper body machines, then 5 minutes on elliptical trainer, where my heart rate went too high for my age...so I finished off with 5 more minutes on the treadmill at a really moderate, slower pace. And I remembered to stretch after! I went shopping with my sister afterwards, and we went to applebee's to eat. Unfortunately, I ate more than I should have...a burger. But I skipped the cheese on the burger and I got rice instead of fries and only ate 1/4 of it. I think my calorie intake is good for the rest of the day with that...I will just balance off the day with some fruit and do some ab work and more stretching before bed. All in all, its a good day!

I finally got up and out the door to work in that old yard. Good way to keep my mind off of wanting to pick, and nibble at foods. I have been sweating and may have to come back in later to shower again. I had to run in here get something to drink and I decided to hope on the computer to say I found the energy. What a great day it did turn out.
How is everyone else doing this challenging weekend???

Good morning everyone!

It's the first day of the weekend challenge, and surprisingly I went to bed last night excited for the challenge today! Now that very well could have been because I completely overdid my calorie count on Applebees veggie patch pizza last night- but hey, I sure drank a ton of water before 12am! :)

I havent gotten downstairs to work out yet, but i am about to. I will have my to put on my best game tonight because it is my cousins wedding out on Lake Minnetonka (here in Minnesota) and I will be trapped for 4 hours on a boat with a bar and a buffet..... I hope when I check in after that I will be hungry and sober!

Anyway, enjoy the rest of this morning, It is absolutely BEAUTIFUL outside here where I live. Good luck today everyone!!!!!!!

Good morning. I worked out yesterday. My plan is to workout this morning after I get the family started for the day. I informed my hubbie that I plan to get back on a workout schedule and he was agreeable to it. I think things can fall back in place once the kids are back in school and we have a schedule again.

Good Morning! I am having hard time getting up and go this morning. It is not that I can't, it is just that weekend blues, lazin-around. I have laundry to finish up and then jump in to the shower and hopefully finish up my yard that I have started two days ago. I had a good breakfast and up early was the problem, I think! I was up at 0640 this morning. Yuk! emoticon
I was wondering if anyone is stuck in that slow mo today. Take care all.

Alfie25 - love your picture.

NMcelrath - I think you asked for an AMEN. AMEN!

Cindycrdz - Sounds like you are a mom! I have mom days generally a couple of days in a row. It's a matter of going with the flow when your plans get altered but still trying to make time for yourself. We all believe in you.

Honesty time...I haven't seriously exercised in a couple of months. Yesterday, after a meeting, I went home and got on my rowing machine. IT felt great! (I spent a couple of hours working from home but with a much better attitude.) I WILL get some exercise in today and the rest of the weekend.

I too need to check out zumba it sounds like fun!

I can't chat long...because I have putzed around all week (being here) and I have major deliverables due...BUT

I am so PSYCHED about all this positive energy and healthy chit chat going into the weekend!!! what a turnaround from where we all were last weekend!!

I AM SURE EVERYONE WILL DO FANTASTIC THIS WEEKEND!

The only tidbits I will throw out from all the messages are:

Yoga is great!!! It helps to build your core, icrease balance and flexibility and can do wonders for getting you "centered" -don't knock it...it is still something positive for your body and soul!

Zumba is still growing...I call it the Tae Bo of this decade...regardless, the key thing I think is to find an exercise you ENJOY! Something you can do and still manage to smile. Even walking or running with a comedy cd/tape I think can be fun (i've tried it...it's great!)...just find something you look forward to...

And to all you Mighty Mighty Warriors:

HOOYAAA!!!!

See you on Monday! emoticon

Don''t be afraid to SHAKE THINGS UP!!! Let''s ZUMBA!

smartgirl: someone posted this and I don't remember where I read it, but it was GREAT advice for eating healthy when eating out. Order a dish that has veggies, carbs, and protein. Eat half the veggies first, then a quarter of the carbs and a quarter of the protein. Then, most likely, with restaurant sizes, you will have enough leftovers that you can eat the meal again later at home - just replace the veggies on your own. It sounded like a great idea and will be my plan for saving myself from a fall off the bandwagon the next time I have to go out to eat for something. Hope this helps!

Mind over fatter.

Ok I am kind of nervous about this weekend so I will be checking in a lot. My goal this weekend is to workout a least 30 min each day and no binge eating. The problem I have is if I go out with friends what to eat. But I know I can make good choices I just have to pay attention to what they have. Anyway I am so glad I have other warriors to answer to on Monday!!

Have a great weekend everyone!! We can do it!

I actually don't think this weekend will be terrible. I am going to spend Saturday and Sunday at my parents' house (they live about an hour away) so I will just have to run while I'm home and make sure I don't graze (a bad habit at home, my mom is an AWESOME cook - not even bad for you, just too tasty sometimes). If I can make it through Sunday without getting chipotle, or at least downgrading it to a bowl, I will be okay.

Mind over fatter.

Good luck to everyone and remember if you need extra support just come and visit SP!
My weekend goals: exercise @ least once, get into my calorie range, and start following the meal plan to the letter!

If anyone wants a great description of portion control go read the article on the Bikini Diet....It's a much easier to remember and gauge without actually carrying around measuring cups!

And I recommend Zumba to anyone! It's great to add to your exercise routine it spice it up or if you're just looking for "non-trad" cardio, my friend hates to exercise but Zumba is the only thing she's stuck to, it actually getting her to do more exercise b/c it's made such a difference in a small amount of time!
