Last weekend was a disaster for me, too. Luckily we get a fresh weekend to try again! Hopefully things will go better for both of us!

IS there a challenge we are trying to accomplish each weekend or is there an overall challenge to this group
I managed my challenge for the weekend and then some
I was trying to get in at least a few minutes of some sort of exercise each day over the weekend
I managed at least 15 minutes on my gazelle and a 2 1/2 hour hike with my daughter this afternoon - lugging a loaded down back pack that had our water bottles and our healthy snacks/lunches....
Whew - it was exhausting but fun and well worth seeing her smile and learn even more about nature and having some quslity mom and daughter time since dad was working this afternoon.

i'm on a vocation now for two weeks, and a big event is coming, and there going to be lots of sweets, and i'm so scared that i'm going to gain weight again! i'm glad that i have found this team, it's so exiting, i have a friend wedding coming in five days and i want to be in a good shape, when i go to my full time job it makes me busy all the time and makes the diet and exercising easier to me, but when i'm at home i become hungry and lazy all the time :p
i'm so scared of these two weeks, if every thing went Ok i'll reach my mini goal weight ( 55 Km ) for the FIRST time in my LIFE!!! :D It will be a Miracle emoticon !

My nephew and my sister will be over this weekend, so in between spending time with them, I'm planning to get my ten minute cardio by biking around the block everyday. Every time I get a free break, I'll add another ten minutes.

Stocking up is a good idea. Some Greek yogurt maybe also ok? I am thinking about some spinning/cycling class even on this weekend or hiking. Whatever but I will do it as it is a long weekend for me (4days) so I will have to fill it up with activities as much as I can. I will visit my parents if I dont get any better idea and wash my windows :-) Whatever, just to be more active and watching TV less.

Anyone think that would be good strategy for him also?

Hi everyone! I joined this group (its really my first group here) because this is the first time I do admit to myself that I do have problem on weekends more than on weekdays! I live alone and I am 38 years old and I pig out on weekends. That is fact of life which I dont feel comfortable to admit, but its true! I do pig out on weekdays also emoticon but I think I do it even more often on weekdays. What to say? I have to stop doing that! I think I will try to stuck my weekends with as much activity I can bear....wish me luck! Dirty windows here I come! emoticon

I struggle with control on weekends. I have had some success when I plan what / when / where I am going to eat when I am running around during the day to my kids sports, scouts etc. Generally if I dont stick to a plan during the day all bets are off in the evening.

And for me a bad saturday rolls into a bad sunday and possibly monday.

I have found it useful to stage some food in my car. I try to follow a low carb diet and if I know I am going to be back and forth from baseball to soccer to whatever I put a small cooler in my car with some atkins (or similar) bars and shakes.

Having these handy help me get through until I can eat some good, real food.

I'm staying strong! I'm making this the best weekend yet. I'll get 10 miles in today. So far, so good! I've got in 4 miles first thing this morning; refueled on carbs and protein and out the door for another 3 miles; and refueling once again, to complete 3 more miles. It's done! The best weekend ever

Well, my weekend went okay(sort of) and is going to round out pretty well, too. The drivers window went down ,for drive thru, and hasn't gone up, yet! So proud that I was not involved with the fast food! Because of this, it being over the weekend of course, we have had plastic covering where the window would be. Being New England, and how cold it is mom, the driver says no go for a trip to the store! I have no salad fixings, no fresh veg. and no fresh version of some lean protein. I will be so glad to get to the grocery stare!! All this trouble with going is because I am un-able to drive.

Did so good on Thanxgiving .... but have Totally fallen off the bandwagon since; BK, Sonics, Dr. Pepper, Oreos .... and the list goes on; and almost 10lbs later. I have got to get back on track again or Xmas will be a nightmare.

Pretty happy with how the holiday turned out, had a non-traditional meal of steak and prawns. But managed to keep it in check and even get a few extra miles in with company here as well.

I'm actually pretty happy with this weekend thanks to
the exercise I was able to do, my boxing coach wanted to train on friday the first thingmorning he is already called to wake me up to go I got a mile and a half in running from my mother's house to my sisters house. then I got about 30 minutes of hard core play with my nephew all before boxing. then later even though it was a friday my family celebrated thanksgiving we were all able to get together on thursday so we made it friday I definitely went over my calorie budget but the exercise differential more than made up for it so I was happy about it

We'll, I got a job in town (10mles away) and we have decided to move into town by Christmas if possible. So, I willbe spending my weekend packing and hauling stuff to goodwill instead of working out. At least it's exercise, though.

The weekend went pretty good, and I am happy to report, I have seen my attitude improve so much with keeping to my plan on the weekends. Hubby and I went out on Saturday, but I had saved 900 calories to splurge a bit. I think I did pretty good. Sunday morning's weigh-in was very positive...down 2.8 pounds from the previous Sunday. I am gearing up for the challenges of a holiday weekend and plan to stay within all of my ranges...my goal for this Sundays weigh in: -1 pound. I am praying for everyone continued success. emoticon

5 miles, Way To Go! and in the Snow!!! Wow!

Seem to have made it through the weekend with flying colors, no slip-ups or binges .... making Fun-da-middles for my son's birthday today, been planning all week not that they're too high in calories.

Hope everyone enjoys/enjoyed their weekend!

Well, we had a bit of snow this morning. Still did my 5 miles, had to wait until it got warmer around noon, before I went out. It's hard to run when it's this cold. I had to use my ear warmer band as a mouth and nose cover. It was too cold to breathe.

Also, been stuck at the same weight for 3 weeks, even though I'm busting my butt working out and averaging 1500-1600 calories a day. I do and hour of intense cardio a day, minimum. Ugh, the scale needs to move...

The weekend is upon us once again! Going to be busy myself with my mom arriving today for a week-long visit. And a Scouting trip to Bernheim Forrest to look at the stars ... my son's first outing! super excited!!! Homecoming is this weekend at church, but I have a plan this time on how not to over do things and still enjoy myself.

Hope everyone has a Wonderful Weekend!

This past weekend was okay: stayed pretty close to SP ranges and earned SP on Saturday and Sunday, worked out both days. Had too many snack type, salty foods though. I think it affected my Sunday morning weigh-in: I was down only a fraction of a pound. Overall feel pretty good. It is good to see quite a bit of improvement during the weekends. I used to let down my hair a bit, because I felt I deserved it after working hard during the week. But I found that letting it down too much can undo a whole lot of effort. It's not worth it. I did have a Krispy Kreme filled donut---yummy---but I budgeted calories/fat/carbs for it.

Went on a great hike yesterday. 8.6 miles. Took me 2hours, 40 minutes. 19 minute miles. That's the farthest I've hiked since I got too fat to hike. I used to backpack and hike all the time. Looking forward to next summer, maybe an overnight trip? On the downside, I slipped and fell this morning while I was mopping. Landed on both knees, and my wrist. May not be able to hike this weekend... :-(

I am a little nervous about this 3 day weekend...My kids are coming to dinner tonight & I have my grandkids overnight tonight & most of tomorrow, then on Saturday a wedding to go to...I have been so good this week with my eating & exercise I don't want to blow it with nervous/stress eating...I am also looking at this weekend as a trial run for Thanksgiving...if I can make it through this weekend...Thanksgiving should be a breeze!!!!!!!

Well my gastrocnemius is almost healed. I ran 1-1/2 miles of my 5 mile hike today. Feels great. I am trying to run 2+miles by the end of this month.

Thank you for the welcome. I got more than 50 SP for Saturday and Sunday and was down 2 pounds on my weigh in day (Sunday). Weekends are tough for me. I worked out both days, but ate more than I probably should have on Sunday. But the challenge has helped...I'll be in touch!

Ran 3/4 mile yesterday and today. Usually run 1-1/2 each day, but I'm nursing an injured gastrocnemius muscle. Hiked 4.25 miles each day also, for a daily distance of 5 miles each day. I Lost 3 lbs in 9 days! I guess the 30 minutes of step aerobics 5 days a week is paying off.

Thanks for your "welcome"! I'm very new to SP, and wish that I found this 'team' before the week-end was here! I have just lost between 75 and 100 pounds, on my own. I say this vast difference because I was down about 100 and gained some( alot) then lost it and then...My worst time IS the week-ends. I always manage to lose gym time on Sundays, but do religiously go to work-out on Sat's. This week-end: no gym. I am disabled and can't run up to the gym safely, in the bad weather which is what we just had. Snow storms in Oct. should just not be! I do, always, use Sundays as my cheat days. Chinese today as a matter of fact! Ideas to jumble this for the better? My gym is only open 7am -7pm on the week-ends! Church doea come first!

Hey, everyone, I'm joining because weekends are my biggest challenge---off of routine, hanging out and eating out with hubby, etc. My weigh in day is Sunday morning, but I want to be as consistent on the weekends as I am on the weekdays. So, I'll be checking in again on Sunday PM or Monday morning. Thanks for the challenge. I have about 25 pounds more that I'd like to lose before the spring comes. As long as I'm making progress, though, I'll be happy.

I am doing fairly good with staying on track even though I am not at home and have to eat out all the time. I had one little mishap on Friday went over my budget calories by 285 calories. emoticon But did burn 478 calories that day. I was extremely hungry that evening and decided I needed to eat more than I normally do.... However, my choice of foods was poor though. emoticon Another day...another try....

Got to laguh though...got a stomach ache soon after I ate it! Won't be doing that anymore....

Toughed it out for 12 miles this weekend, in spite of an injured gastrocnemius muscle. The last two times I hurt it, I quit and had to start over, so I'm gonna power through the pain this time. I've worked to hard to lose all this weight. I don't want to gain any of it back.

Well my bang turned into a bust .... McDs yesterday and several bowls of hearty soup later, I'm up on the scales. I'm trying to not let it get to me but I should have known better on the McDs, too many fries I think. Hope everyone else had a better weekend.

Lost the battle today, lunch at Long John Silvers .... I don't think I did too much damage, but my stomach is telling me otherwise; too much grease on the system. Will try again tomorrow.

Back to my regular routine today, but still paying for yesterday. Trying to flush my system out with lots and lots of H2O. Hoping things are back to normal by tomorrow.

Just found this group through the Challenge Central community board, and oh boy what a life saver I belive this group will be.

During the week, I do great but the tempations of the weekend really make me wish it were Monday again. We usually do a pizza or 2 from Sam's, bratwurst or chicken wings for the game, and oh the snacks.

Glad to have found a group that struggles and triumphs with the same goals.

Ok..the weekend begins for me after the kids are home from school & hubby's home from work. My plans for this evening burger's on the grill & warm cider near the campfire..As far as activities go, I'm working sat & sun during the day maybe we can do some bowling on sat. Sunday dinners are a big deal at our house, so I'm trying to come up with some healthier versions of everyone's favorite dishes.
My diet plans for the weekend~staying away from the vending machines at work, bringing yogurt for lunch & maybe I can squeeze in a 20 min walk during my break.

Have a fun & healthy weekend~Kayla

You're on TeaLovers! I made it through this past weekend but it took real effort. I did Turbo Jam dvd Saturday, went for a walk with the DH, and did a sweaty weight lifting routine Sunday. BUT the biggest win was when my husband wanted to go to AppleBees for dessert Sunday night...the chocolate lava cake. I wouldn't go...he was not happy about this and even tried the "you don't have to order anything" AND "you could just get a small salad" Yeah, right! If I go, I'm eating that lava cake and I know it. Instead we made a chocolate cake together at home. I did have a piece (but only 1) and it was soooo good. But I didn't eat an entire 1400 calories worth of lava cake and we had fun making the cake together.

Today is Thursday and I just found this group...in the nick of time!!! Weekends are my downfall. My husband is home...he's gone all week over the road and on the weekends we like to go out to eat, make cookies, chill out together, and generally be fat and lazy! I've got to knock it off...it's wrecking havoc on my diet....I make great progress all week and then throw it away over the weekend. I'm committed to eating healthy this weekend, tracking the food I do eat (all of it), and working out at least once a day Saturday and Sunday...sweaty workout regardless of the time of day. DaddyzGirl6306 (and whoever else would like to join me)....I challenge you to do the same!

I just found this group, as well as trying to still get the hang of the site..... I walk 2 miles almost everyday, but i find it hard to stay motivated on the weekends, due to I am a waitress at a bar and i dont see my bed until 2 in the mornings on weekends, and help in suggested motivation is greatly appreciated. I have lost 5 lbs of my 30 lb goal so far!

The weekend (Friday - Sunday) is the worst for me because my husband is home!! He always wants to go for fast food and "treats"

When he goes to the store for something he brings back donuts or candy bars for me (though he's getting better at bringing cantaloupe or watermelon (my candy). I also have to cook lunches and find myself making hamburgers and hotdogs...I usually eat vegies, fruit, and egg or tuna salad.

Last weekend I did so well... even on my date. I felt so good about it that I wanted to keep my momentum. I went to the gym three times during the week, and I lost another 0.6 pounds,
This weekend though I had a family friend in from out of town yesterday, today I had a family reunion, tomorrow I have my SIL's baby-shower, and I have a cold!
Because the reunion was all day I had to skip my 7 mile walk, and with this cold I really don't feel like working out anyway.
I can skip this weekend... right?

Well, I think the tracking I did last weekend helped me stay focused all week. I weighed in at my WW meeting this morning, and I am down 1#. I am still 4# over my WW lifetime goal, so I actually PAID for the first time. I told the lady I may completely quit coming - I am NOT paying!! There's a long history here - I paid for 6 years and lost 40 pounds, but really was able to maintain - I could never get to the ultimate goal - life got in the way. My doc finally set my goal and then I took up biking and kept gaining.

This week I did lots of walking and didn't ride the bike at all except for Monday morning. I think I tend to retain more fluid when doing the more strenuous exercise. I know there's a hump I need to get over here, but for now I am going to take it easy.

My goal for this weekend is to keep tracking my foods, and get to that YOGA program in the basement! I still didn't get there last weekend!! We need rain - so hopefully that will happen and I'll spend some time in the basement instead of outside.

Hi. This is my first week on Spark and I am still getting the hang of it, but this seems like a group I need to belong to. Weekends for me were less about exercise, more abut date night, and tracking be damned.
I have already begun to rectify my weekend issues. I recently asked a friend who is in training for the three-day Walk For The Cure if I could join her and her team on their weekend training walks around the city. The first walk was two weeks ago and was 7 miles. I thought I would be in pain the next day, and I was a bit, but I loved it! They plan to add one half to one full mile each week. I missed last weekend because I was out of town, but I am absolutely looking forward to Saturday.
It was really the thing I needed for motivation to get out and get moving... even if it means I have to wake up at 5:00 in the morning on a Saturday.

I do have one question about tracking:
Does SP give you the ability to track by weekly calories as well as daily? I never want to go under my recommended daily calories, because I know for me it really stalls weightloss. But I would be curious to see if I could still loose weight by staying over my minimum, under my maximum, and then banking some of the "extra" calories for the occasional weekend splurge.
This way, whether it is a special event, or just general weekend chaos, I would know that I could go over my daily allotment if I chose to, but I would be limited on how much.
I feel that this would be a good way to enjoy the weekend while controlling the chaos.
I realize I can do this on my own, but I was wondering if there was a way to get SP to do it for me.

Is it your ultimate goal to run in an official 5K? I think running this practice one still counts toward the goal, doesn't it?

I made it through the 4th without too much trouble. We went to the Milwaukee Brewers game and tailgated with my BIL and GF. I tracked my breakfast and lunch before we left thinking that if there were other goodies or eats that I would not eat them because they weren't accounted for, or I'd absolutely have to either get out my "smart" phone and track there. I forgot to track a couple light beers that I fully intended on drinking. I had 3, but they were Miller 64s, so that wasn't the ruination of my day. I tracked my lunch and then had a leftover brat and some salad for dinner when we got home (we had ziplock bags and were able to keep things cool enough in the cooler for the trip home. I went a little over my calories, but not really too bad.

The really good news is that I did take a 13 mile bike ride early in the morning - so at least I got some activity in. The trip to Milwaukee was probably more than 2 hours because we had to go pick up BIL and GF - way out of the way for us, but it worked out best in the long run. Knowing I would have all that "windshield time" helped me get motivated in the morning before it got too hot.

Today I was back on track as well. I'm coming in low in fiber which is just something I can't let go of after WW. I'll let that slide until tomorrow and see what I can add for fiber.

I actually did a 5k on Sunday with my dad. I know it doesn't count towards my goal as it wasn't an official one, but I'm still happy I had enough discipline

If its got wings, I can crash it

Good job on the walk! I did the strength exercises and massaged my muscles with a specific arnica based oil for athletes hoping it will reduce soreness. So far so good.
Do yoga while doing laundry!

I did go for the walk - about 2 miles - my WW buddy lives near one of our many bike paths but this is not a path I have biked on. It's a beautiful walk. My sister called before I left and wanted to go out to one of our favorite gardening centers, so after my walk, I walked an additional mile around the flowers, etc!

I didn't get my bike ride in - and frankly I am beat. We are going to Milwaukee tomorrow for a Brewer game (about 90 minute drive from our home). We are meeting another couple and have to be on the road about 11 a.m. I can get the salad and stuff ready tonight, then I will take the bike ride in the morning before it gets too warm out.

Chillaxing here with a big class of icy crystal lite and some of those sugar snap peas. I just finished planting a few things I picked up at the flower place, and got my soaker hose hooked up to keep things from dying in the heat. I have to get dinner ready soon.

I didn't do any laundry yet, so I haven't touched the yoga ball - oops! may get to it yet before I sleep, but I sure need a second wind!

So did u go walking?
I also have a hard time doing strength because well... I find it hard and boring plus I am always sore for 2 days after that.
Today I went swimming again but just 300 m and really chilled in the water and tanned more than anything else; I don't want to do too much too soon and I knew I had strength planned today.
Alright,
Off to Strength!

I didn't get into the snap peas last night - we ate kind of late, and by the time I sat down I really was tired.

Today I am meeting one of my WW buddies for a walk - we'll go at least 2 miles. I am still thinking it will be cool enough for a bike ride.

I confess - I've never gotten into the strength training on Spark - I am afraid of it. I did a really strenuous class last winter and gained 9 pounds! I realize I do need to work on my core. I even found core training for bicyclists. I have 2 videos for "Yoga on the Ball" and I bought the ball a couple months ago - haven't even blown it up. Maybe today is the day since I have to be in the basement doing laundry. I have to keep the ball in the basement because the last time I had a ball, one of my cats clawed it and broke it - at least that was the story I got from my teenagers at the time!

take care - keep tracking! Not sure what I am going to be eating today - but we have a whole chicken to put on the grill for dinner - beer can chicken - should be interesting.

Oh I miss sugar snap peas! we don't have them here so eat some for me!
Dinner was not bad at all, only grilled chicken breast and manioc (an african veggie like source of carb, weird but good but not trackable, I replaced it with potato on the tracker)
It's gonna be a hot day and I have strength scheduled. track track track!

cool! its very hot here, so not much on the activity other than my usual weekend running around, getting groceries, etc. I didn't wear my pedometer today which is really unfortunate! It should be a little cooler tomorrow, so I'll get a nice bike ride in - maybe early in the a.m.

I tracked so far - only 920 cal. I am making a lobster salad for dinner - this is a real treat for us this time of year - we do NOT live where lobster is cheap! We're going to have sweet corn with it - and serve it on a toasted potato roll.

I need more veggies - so maybe some of those sugar snap peas will be calling my name instead of something else!

This may be what I need - I''ve been at this for a long time - mostly with WW, now SP because the tracker is free. I have about 15 pounsd to lose, and I've made a new discovery that it is the weekend that sets me up for a disastrous week. I have to TRACK all the time. I got the exercise going, and I also use that as an excuse - I do eat well, and I really don't over eat, but its the not tracking attitude that has me forgetting how many healthy snacks did I really have?

Anyone up for a tracking challenge that starts on the weekend?

It's the weekend and I'm here on spark! That's a good sign. This is the first time I've done any tracking at all on the weekend! Off to a good start. Going to a new Power Yoga studio today. It's all happening!

I need a push on the weekends! I do not know why when Saturday comes I feel the need to "cheat" it happens every weekend. I don't feel like working out and I want to eat what I want without evaluating the benefit of the food to my current goal! SO what's next weekends challenge! I need a push until I can turn Sabotaging Saturdays into Successful, Sticking With It, Still Striving Saturdays!

Welcome to you both. Someone usually starts a thread on Thursday or Friday (or feel free to start it yourself!). Check in, let us know your plans. You can stop by during the weekend, or let us know on Monday how everything went. I find I leave from other people's situations and solutions all the time!

Weekends are the WORST for me! It is even more difficult in the Winter when it's so cold out and I end up staying in for most of the day. I'm always trying to do better on weekends, but that sometimes leads me to doing worse!

Hi All, I'm so glad I found this group ... I too have a hard time keeping my calories in check over the weekend. Mainly due to the fact that my husband is home and we go to hockey games or out to dinner. We usually play golf, which helps with the over all calories ... but once I start indulging in wine or beer, everything snowballs. This will be fun to check in with the team on Mondays to show my accountability. I really need some motivation on Mondays!!

Do not go where the path might lead you ... go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.

Over the holidays and on some other occasions I may consume several alcoholic beverages. I am of age, and I do so responsibly. However, I know the calories can ruin an entire week of calorie counting. This weekend I've signed up for a Zumba class at 10AM on Saturday morning, this way I have every reason NOT to drink on Friday night. Sweet... right!

My name is Jen, I'm 24, and hope to loose 70 pounds during 2011. There is no time to waste and five days a week just won't cut it! I need to get my weekends into gear. I do OK with fitness on my days off, because I have unlimited time. However, my diet nearly goes out the window.

Hello,
Weekends are my nightmare. I work all week to zero everything out on the weekends. This group is for me.

Where do I find the challenges. I'm fairly new at this.
