Heidi, I've been playing around with the mileage tracker--I love it! I put in a bunch of my local routes. I set up the basic route (like my 9 mile bike ride) and then a few loops that I can add off of that, depending on my time/energy level. So to track it, I combine the routes.
Leanne, Sapphire mining sounds very cool. (So does the diamond mining!) And I like that you investigate interesting things to do in various states. Any suggestions on things to do in Iowas or Nebraska? They are two states I still have to visit. I am not worried about the last two (Oregon and Washinton)--I am sure I'll find plenty there!
But what a tough weekend you had! I hope all has settled down and you are getting back on track with your goals and plans. BTW, what are you looking for in spinning shorts? Aren't they just cycling shorts? In which case I can offer a few suggestions.
I ended up putting a few more things away this weekend, but I never did vacuum or put away the dishes. I have to do that soon, or else the next batch just starts to pile up in the sink...
Have a good week and I'll see you all in a few days!
Ok -- the walking/biking map page is a little hard to get to. I found it from a feature article some time last week, but there is no way to keep it as one of your favorites. Its under fitness -- on the left side, under "what's new", it's should be the link second from the bottom. I put a link at the bottom of this post. Once you creat your own maps, it's also kind of difficult to figure out how to get back to your saved maps. There is a link within the top paragraph to get to your saved maps. I'm hoping they make it a little easier to navigate here.
Oh - one other thing. When you use one of your maps in a workout and you want to log it into your tracker, you have to start at this map page, fill in the specifics as far as time and weight, and THEN you can add it to your tracker.
Heidi...that girls night sounded very nice! Didi...Good luck on your races! DRC...so what you didnt get to your workouts--look at all the other stuff you DID get done! My April book is Five Finger Discount by Helene Samanski (something like that). The sapphire mines is something I came across while sitting in a meeting with my boss. He was on a phone call so I started flipping through a magazine on his desk and there was this article about sapphire mining in Montana. Always looking for something to do in a state I havent visited, I started reading. Sounds pretty interesting. (I also found a place in Arkansas where you can go diamond mining.)
I didnt really get to a lot of my list this weekend due to a relative getting arrested at 3am Sat morning. I bailed them out and didnt get home til about 10am and then slept til 4pm, which threw off my whole day/weekend. Here is my list: Walk Fri--NO Walk Sat--NO Walk Sun--a little Research spinning shorts--NO Look up race info--NO Research Sapphire mines in Montana--briefly. Healthy food shopping--YES Update iPOD--YES Read April book--NO Make a workout schedule--NO Do laundry--NO Bible readings--NO
Heidi, 500 calories over for a special occasion is not that bad. Sure, you can't do it every day, but it will not ruin everything you have achieved. Knowing what you actually did helps, and you will be fine. Skip your weigh in this week if you don't want to see the number, and use the next week you get yourself in check.
BTW, where is this Spark Walking page? I haven't seen that...
Three cheers for Didi! Sounds like the perfect pre-race workout, and I can't wait to hear how it goes in the HM next week.
So here's my update: * fold clothes in the dryer DONE * do more laundry DONE * put away stuff that has accrued on the floor last week STILL IN PROGRESS * catch up on sleep SO FAR, SO GOOD * vacuum * clean floors (kitchen) CHECK * clean floors (bathrooms)CHECK * clean bathrooms :) CHECK * clean kitchen CHECK * put away dishes in the dish washer NOPE (but at least they are clean) * workout at least twice (bike ride? walk?) NOTHING
So more stuff to put away, vacuum before it gets too late... The lack of workouts was really my biggest downfall this weekend. Maybe I'll get enough sleep to workout before work in the morning.
First of all, the migraine that finally got me on Thursday night. I took more Tylenol than usual in hopes of knocking it back, and got tons of sleep, and by Saturday morning I was feeling better. I did stuff around the house during the day, then met my dad for dinner and to watch the Preakness (Go Rachel Alexandra!)
Tomorrow is the kids' dance recital, and then dinner with my dad, if he wants to go.
* fold clothes in the dryer DONE * do more laundry HALFWAY * put away stuff that has accrued on the floor last week PROGRESS * catch up on sleep SO FAR, SO GOOD * vacuum * clean floors (kitchen) * clean floors (bathrooms)CHECK * clean bathrooms :) CHECK * workout at least twice (bike ride? walk?) NOTHING YET
And I realized I did need to do dishes and clean the kitchen, but at least that's COMPLETED NOW!
Leane, so what is April's book? And why the research on Sapphire mines? It sounds interesting, but rather unique research!
Heidi, I think I am jealous of your 8 week pampering sessions. Tell me the massage was as good as I am imagining... And a night like last night is perfectly acceptable. Track it, and see what your day was like. And then keep it in mind for your next night out. Also, over the next couple of days, get a bonus workout! But don't feel bad about a fun night out. Glad to hear the knee is feeling better, and the power yoga sounds like a great way to rebuild strength.
Didi, good luck with the 10k, and I'll be thinking about you next weekend for your HM. Is it Saturday or Sunday?
Race weekend for me!!! I'm running a 10k tomorrow and may be MIA next weekens as I'll be running my Half marathon in Ottawa. I may not have access to a computer and not sure if I'll be taking my lap top.
Wish me luck!!!!
Hope you guys have a strong weekend!!!
GOALS FOR 2009
Maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle (110-118lbs)
Run 1000miles in 2009
Strength train three times weekly
Run 2 out of Province Half Marathons:-
Personal motto:- Without sacrafice there is no victory!!!
Today -- gymnastics w/ Erika. It's parent's week, so I got to go in and watch her up close. She did great. Then my routine salon appointment (hair cut & massage). It's the one thing I do for myself every 8 weeks. Now, hubby is at the driving range and I'm having a nice afternoon w/ the kids!
Tomorrow -- not much on the schedule. We'll grocery shop and finish the laundry. Otherwise, it'll be a nice low-key day letting the kids play, play, play!
I have been great at tracking my food all week. I'm going to attempt to track for last night, but I'm nervous... out to dinner with good friends and had a martini, 2 glasses of wine and a heavy dessert beer (can't remember the name, but it was good!). I knew we were going to splurge a little bit and I wanted to enjoy. Oh, I did eat too, it wasn't just a drinking dinner -- great steak with spinach and baked oysters for appetizer. GREAT night out w/ friends.
My knee is doing better. For mother's day, my husband got me a member ship at a local power yoga studio. I'm going to alternate walk/run with yoga to help strengthen my knee a bit more. I've got to get on the ball as I entered a HM in November. I must be able to run 5 miles comfortably by August to be able to begin the HM training program.
Sorry this is long winded... have a great weekend everyone!
Hey DRC! I was just coming to start the weekend thread early. I've had some stomach issues for the past week and I didnt go to work today. I needed to catch up some sleep anyway, because I havent been going to be until 2-3am. On a better note, I've been actively watching what I eat and tracking my food. Drinking more water and took my vitamins all week. (Except today, because NOTHING is agreeing with me.)
Here is my list: Walk Fri Walk Sat Walk Sun Research spinning shorts Look up race info Research Sapphire mines in Montana Healthy food shopping Update iPOD Read April book Make a workout schedule Do laundry Bible readings
I'm kinda going back to my old way of doing things.
Since I was completely MIA last weekend, I thought I'd start the thread this weekend.
Let's see, what do I have going on... Saturday is the Preakness. I will definitely watch it, and there is a slight chance I will go to the race. And Sunday I am going to see a kids' dance recital. My mom is out of town, and I didn't want my dad to have to go alone. Otherwise, it's a list:
* fold clothes in the dryer * do more laundry * put away stuff that has accrued on the floor last week * catch up on sleep * vacuum * clean floors (kitchen and bathrooms) * clean bathrooms :) * workout at least twice (bike ride? walk?)
Hmm, about the only thing I don't have to do around the house is clean the kitchen...
