I have the one from Weight Watchers, it works great. I took a peice of waist band elastic tied it so that I just pull it on and attach my pedometer to each morning and it does not fall off. don't have to worry about when going to the bathroom

I like my Omron. I've had it for a year now and it's held up great. It has a feature that I like where I can go back and see my steps for 7 days. Got it on Amazon. I also put a metal clip on the tether on mine because the plastic ones tend to crack after a while.

I love the Omron brand. I've had a couple of different models and been very happy with them. I strongly suggest buying a "leash" for yours (it fits on like a cell phone charm) that has a metal clip. The plastic clipped leash that comes with them is not always strong enough. My metal clip (a little like the clip on a pair of suspenders, or braces) has never come loose. Mine was just a few bucks on Amazon.

I use a sportsline. I know that it may (and has) missed steps but it helps me keep track of my exercise.

I have only been using my Omron for a couple of days, but it seems to work well. For at least what I do. I have not done any cardio with it. Been too busy!!

I just got a Omron HJ-112. I just got it going this am. So, I only have a couple hundred steps in so far. I got it because my Spark friend recommended it. She has been using hers and loves it. So, good luck to you on your Omron HJ-112.
Happy Walking!!!!!!

I use the Sportsline pedometer. I have had some problems but usually it has to do with the battery.

Thanks for your comments. I just ordered an Omron HJ-112 from well.ca (amazon.ca did not carry them in Canada). It will be the 5th one I try, so I'm hoping it will work! All reviews on it looked great, so looking forward to giving this one a try. My last one was free and counted only 1400 steps after I did a lot of walking that day.. Really don't think that was right.. I like the idea that this one can go in my pocket instead of clipping on my waist. I almost dropped the last one in the toilet!

I have an Omron HJ-150...my belly is on my waistband which leaves no room for a pedometer...so always falling off, always sideways on the way to falling off...I like the shoe idea..except I am always barefoot in the house...are these things waterproof? because the Bra sounds good but I get puddles of sweat there when I walk...I do have a question...do these count steps if you are walking in place?

I have an Omron. It is great. Its very accurate. Holds 8 days worth of data. If you change strides it adjusts itself. It also records how many steps you take if you go for a jog/fast walk along with your total for the day. It records a few other things too. I highly recommend it.
You can hook it on your hip, put it in your pocket, on your shoe, in your purse or hold it in your hand as you walk and its all equally accurate.

I was reading on the Amazon about Omron with the pc software and usb interface. The documentation says it is not compatible with Vista, has anyone successfully done a work around?
I have a good Cresta one, I filled in the length of my steps walking and running and it's pretty accurate, even concerning distances. But it was not cheap, I think it costs like 35 euros, got it in sales for 25 euros.

Good ideas on different placement of the pedometer, I might start wearing mine again. I could never put it on my waistband and have it stay there.

The instructions that came with mine told me to hook it on waistband above knee. More accurate than when I had no idea and wore it on hip.My sisters house is almost 3000 steps and use to read about 400. Just imagine how far off "calories burned" were.

I have a cheap one that I haven't used for a little while. When I was using it consistently I used to hook it to my right shoe. It's hard to hook to the kind of shoes I wear at work these days, which is why I haven't used it for a little while.
There was much rejoicing!

I have found that $20.00 or Free in cereal box, they seem the same. As long as you submit you info, they keep pace but you must check if you happen to do something that alters your stride. If this change in stride is temporary, then you may need to reset your pedometer. Luck to all.

I'm glad it's not just me! My husband handed me one of my pedometers and what the heck it was. It had obviously left my waist. Put on a different one today and it's missing. At least I know it's in the house, but haven't really searched for it. I have a box of them that either came with a "program" or that I've purchased over time. I actually COUNT my steps and check them out - never agree. Guess it's a step in the right direction, but working for 10,000 steps is a bit discouraging when they aren't recording ALL the steps.

We started a walking group at work over a year ago. Almost everyone has the Omron. I have had others but this one is more accurate. We have even had step challenges to get us all moving.

I purchased my Omron on amazon.com. I don't know which physical stores carry it.

Thanks for the ideas. I know my husband has an Omron heart monitor that is the best. I've been a klutz with pedometers. No right readings. Can set the one that needs imput. Attached to waistband and roll of fat knocks it off onto floor. Etc.

Hi, I recently purchased a Sportline. It was $40.00. however, it also counts miles, steps( those walked and ran) and calories. It also keeps a 7 day record of all steps for the week. I love it and it works great with the record keeping I need for the teams. Oh, it is digital which means it works in any position and is flat enough to fit in your pocket. It was well worth the price.

I recently purchased a Sport Line - the more expensive model at about $15 that doesn't need programming and it works well as long as I clip it to my waist band.

For PCBob: Don't they make bras for guys????:-)
For Heidi: I'm gonna try your idea tomorrow. I keep dropping my pedometer. Maybe it will stay put, when place in 'another' area.
I have a 340 Sportline Walking Advantage that I purchased at a sporting store. Works fine for me. Also, 2 friends of mine have the same ped and it works for them. Hope this helps a bit.

Tips for the Ladies:
If you want to stay with a cheap pedometer...
try slipping it in your bra. For me it was much more accurate than having it on my waistband.

Same here. I've had some that worked nicely for about a week or two, and then they just seem to go berserk. You would think you could get one that, say, clipped on your shoe, and each downward 'step' would count as One. When I tried that it either counted nothing or dozens of steps. Maybe if it was strapped to your leg, and each step forward counted once, I don't know.
They are not very reliable. At least, not the many I have tried. I will look into the Omron after Christmas.

Omron is a very reliable brand that makes quite a variety of products. That being said....I've got a cheap little pedometer because in my experience they break really easily and mostly aren't really that reliable. I just use one to get an idea of how many steps I'm walking and don't really expect mine to be exact.
There was much rejoicing!

same problem here. I even bought the one thru the spark people store. It kept falling off my waist band, so I wrapped a big rubber band around the clasp thinking the rubber would keep it in place and that did not help either. So now it just lies on my desk

I have Omron Pocket Pedometer that I absolutely LOVE. There is even a blog about it on my page.
I can put it in my pocket in the morning and forget about it. It has a 7 day memory and an aerobic counter as well.
They are available on Amazon.com for about $22.00. It is called the Omron HJ-112.

I've had the same results, and some of them weren't all that cheap. I don't know if there are ANY that are reliable. Maybe someone else can offer us some enlightenment.

What is a good pedometer to buy? I have tried a couple of the cheaper ones and they dont work right. Either they click too many times or they skip clicks. Would appreciate any suggestions.
