Day 78, today, I swam for an hour in the sunshine, and it felt so good!
Losing about 1 pound a week.

I can't believe I got away from posting for 5 or 6 days! I did swim every day, though, and walked on 2 or three of the five I missed posting. Tuesday was the problem for me, as I felt bad all day. But, once I got busy, I felt better. Actually swam for an hour that day!
So I can claim through yesterday - my day 76.
And, I should go garden, but my walk instead.

Yesterday was Day 72 of this streak - 60 min swimming + 10+ min walking. Today has just begun!

Mandrade - Slow and steady wins the race! When I first found Spark People, I was only able to walk 3 min at a time - because my weight put such a strain on my joints! After a while, every one in my office was doing walking breaks. My DH is up to an hour at a time in the early evening, and his diabetes is under control. I gradually gave up (with doctor's full support) two of my BP meds and was told I have 'postponed indefinitely' having diabetes myself. Walking is THE best and cheapest exercise. I just happen to love to swim more...

I have scheduled 10-15 minute breaks at work in the mornings and afternoons to walk around the parking lot. It isn't a huge parking lot, but it's something. So far I"ve only been able to do the morning schedule because of my workload, but I feel better. I still feel fatter than a roly poly ball, but I'll keep going. I have support from my bosses and others. The mild COPD and the pains caused by my heavy chest sometimes get in my way, but I'm going to push ahead.

Back-tracking. The 18th was my Day 62, and I swam at least an hour.
The 19th, my BD and my HS reunion, and Day 63 I ALMOST lost this streak.. I did take a walking break at a rest stop on the way down, but it wasn't quite 10 min, so I did some knee exercises at bedtime.

Yesterday, my Day 64 I really packed in a lot of good stuff. Several of us old-timers met at the Benton KS municipal airport because they offer such a great breakfast buffet. They also happened to have some sky writers practicing and an antique road show. Went from there to visit my brother and SIL, and from there to visit a cousin. Drove back to town and hung out in the city pool for 45 min, treading water and swimming a bit. Back to the motel in time to shower and dress for dinner: Rotating chat going on, but not a very satisfactory menu. So, when we left we went to a bar / cafe and continued the conversation till midnight. It was so much fun comparing memories!

Lots of driving today. Looking forward to being back in my "home" pool this eve.

I ALMOST let myself lose the thread here. I planned to clean yesterday morning and swim in the afternoon, since the group was coming for my birthday celebration Tuesday. Well, I slept most of the morning (not at night, I'm afraid, because of tummy troubles.) And, in the afternoon I was sent to Nordstrom's to do an exchange on what my DH had bought for me. But in the eve, I did get to call the restaurant, and while my daughter left early, his folks stayed around till nearly 10p. Then, downtime in front of the tube. But at 11:50pm I decided to get up work out for 10 min - so, I'm still in, and at Day 60 as of yesterday.

Days 54- 58 - swam at least 45 min daily, walked at least 15.

Minnie - my PC is so slow it sometimes just times out and dies on me - very frustrating.
I am really, really grumpy today. Think it's because I've got a BD coming up - 63, eligible for SS - and I just asked for a nice dinner out - which the DH was happy to give to his Mom for Mother's Day, along with a gift, but not me, not even instead of a gift as a split with his Mom. And LAST weekend he stuck me with the tab for myself, him and his brother, declining to chip in even for a tip. Then, later, said "I could have paid for it ALL!" But he wouldn't part with the twenty in his billfold, even after I asked, having already chipped in $45. HE is making the big bucks these days and I am an unworthy slavey because I don't have a job since he sold my business..

Oh, and he is diabetic and I am doing the Atkins diet, and somehow we can't eat anywhere. But I am supposed to find the ideal restaurant to make him happy with a really good hamburger for $10-12 per person. Happy Birthday to ME!

I am going to have to get a job, and a good one! Not because the DH couldn't support the household alone, but so that I don't have to BEG for things like - OK, like the cheese I sampled at the wholesale club todayand liked. He decided I could have $8 worth as a special BD Treat!

One year he handed me a $100 bill and told me not to buy clothes like I always get - to go to Dillard's and find a $300 jacket on sale for $100, so I can show off to everyone the nice gift my husband got me. In other words, I don't know how to dress myself and it's not worth HIS time to shop for my BD, so follow orders!

Somehow being given orders brings out the worst in me.

And I shouldn't vent here, I suppose. It's just that I was feeling so good after swimming laps and then treading water outside in the deepwater pool, in the dark. And then I realized that tomorrow is Monday. and I've been told this evening to arrange my own birthday party, for Tuesday (NOT my BD) and HE will decide LATER (probably Tues after 5) where we will eat. Maybe here. Which would mean a cleaning frenzy or massive embarrassment. AND I've laid out estimated taxes (last week) which MUST be postmarked tomorrow or we pay penalties and the DH has left them out, doing nothing but occasionally tell me I need to find a way to get out of paying what is due even though he has the money in his checking account. He needs to sign, he needs to write the checks, and I am not to bug him on a work day. So, I blew up tonight instead. I don't think he even KNOWS how irritating he is. But he does seem to understand that I am not happy with him right now.

So, it's a jolly good thing that I got to swim and work off some stress, hmm?

My MIL will take me to Red Lobster one day soon. My daughter took me out to a really really good dinner a couple months ago. I am not really in a bad way.

30 years ago I went into marital counseling with my first husband, and the shrink actually winced when he set up a Q&A between us. He said the reason that DH put me down and said all the wrong things whenever I opened my mouth was that he felt inferior, and was trying to pull me down to his level. So, if history repeats itself, I have only myself to blame. But, it's a good thing I am not prone to violence!

Days 49-53 (through yesterday) swam and walked minimum of 60 minutes daily. I am pushing harder, swimming laps instead of just moving around in the water. it seems like I had to step it up to keep losing. My body adapts, durn it.

Day 49 - Just back from a hike up hill and down dale, so I can claim the day. I DO plan to swim yet, though.
Scale victory -- 2 pounds lost this week, and
Non-scale victory - I am wearing the 'skinny jeans' that I wore to my last HS reunion, in time for the next in 2 weeks.

Day 48 was the 5th, yesterday, when I missed logging in. I DID get in both walking and about 75 min in the water. and I feel good! So, I should really go walk to claim today!
