I really love driving. Sometimes, traffic can get a little stressful, but you just have to slow down and wait it out. Just don't get in too big of a hurry.

It is the best pay I could make for such little official training. School basically just teaches you enough to get the license. The real learning is on the job. I could give you a million pointers but you will learn as you go. It is not hard. I have always said, driving my truck is easier and safer than my car.

Best wishes.

One tip here. Watch out for the "little" cars with little people in them. They THINK THEY CAN FIT IN BETWEEN YOU AND WHATEVER IS AHEAD OF YOU..

Thanks for the tips. I am really getting excited about leaving for school. I guess you like it since you have been doing it for so long. Any other advice you might have for a newbie?

Congrats on the truck driving. I am a female and I have been driving a truck since 1994. Trust me, there is not a lot you can do inside the truck. You can do a little weight lifting, or resistance bands but you will have plenty of opportunity once the truck stops. While waiting on loading/unloading, waiting on dispatch to give you a load. During those times and at warehouses and terminals, I get out and do a lot of walking and running. Also, some companies have you do the loading and unloading. That gets you a really good workout. The company I am with right now doesn't let us do any of that though, so I have to find other ways.

Once you are under a load and rolling, just the driving and sleeping will take up most all your time. Once you drive a full shift, you are very tired and will need the rest time while your spouse is driving.

Save the exercises to times when you are parked. While going down the road, you need to be belted in for safety, whether driving or passenger or sleeping.

Thanks for the tips. As for the kids, the youngest is my step daughter (13, terrible age for a girl) and she lives with her mother. The next just turned 18 so he is capable of taking care of himself, I hope lol.

I would probably start with resistance bands, and a set of dumbells perhaps. If I think of anything else I will let you know. Good luck on the driving program. I take it that all of your kids are grown/or able to take care of themselves (if this is OTR that you are speaking of) emoticon

Recently found out my hubby and I have been accepted into a truck driving program. When we finish we will be driving a truck together. Here is where I am having problems. Any one with tips on exercising while riding in the truck will help me a lot. I know I can move a lot when we stop but would like some other (strength) exercises to do while we are on the road. Thanks.
