Disney made the movie into a Broadway musical a few years ago - I don't think it did well or lasted long.

Never hear of the Tarzan one. My Dad met one of the Tarzan's years ago.

That is a good one. The high school where my hubby was the "musical theater voice coach" put it on once. I really liked it.

Have any of you seen or heard the Tarzan musical? I have the cast recording, but I don't like most of the stage versions as much as I like the movie versions of the songs. "Trashing the Camp" is still awesome, though!

I have never seen Finding Neverland. Guess I will have to track it down.

Favorite musicals besides Wicked:
They're Playing Our Song
Aida
Spamalot
Jesus Christ Super Star
Evita

I really loved They're Playing Our Song. I saw it with Robert Klein and Luci Arnez. That is one of the few plays that I sing songs from regularly.

Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities have crept in. Forget them as soon as you can. RWEmerson

I love that movie!

Another famous gymnast from my childhood (her name escapes me at the moment) often plays Peter Pan for the last several years. We worked with her & her husband on a charity event - very nice people. I have never seen her perform, though.

My DH and I saw Peter Pan just a couple of years ago with Mary Lou Retten (the gymnast..not sure I spelled it right). She was just OK. I don't know why atheletes all think that acting is just some easy thing they can do.

BTW, have you all seen the film "Finding Neverland"? Absolutely beautiful film...a must see!

My Mom took us to see Peter Pan when I was real young.Loved it. I'm pretty sure Mary Martin played the lead. Was Loooong ago hehe...In the early 80's my friend Dorothy and I went to see the play, and Sandy Duncan played Peter. She was wonderful. I even met her after the play. Can't do that these days!

LOL! I always enjoyed the music in Grease - fun to dance to - but hated that message. I fell for Ev when he was playing Doody in high school - he later played Danny for the s. CA awards show when our lead got sick. emoticon

Oh, my, there are so many!!

Ragtime
A Little Night Music
Secret Garden
Carnival

I could go on and on.

Here a few I don't like:
Annie (little girls should not sing that way. It ruins their vocal chords)
Romance, Romance - only a man would write a play about SEX and call it "romance".
Grease - the mesage of which is be a slut if you want to catch the boy.

Besides Wicked, what are your favorite musicals?

I love Little Shop of Horrors - my hubby & I have staged it so many times with various high schools & community theaters, yet I still listen to the music regularly. Same with Godspell & JCS & Joseph. (I did musical theater with our church's teen group for several years - can you tell?!)

My oldest son saw Chitty Chitty Bang Bang in London with my husband when he was only 5 (he's now 11), and he still talks about it.

Both boys are currently into You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown and Spamalot - they haven't seen either show, but they love the music.
