I have Crohns and take "Digestive Advantage - Intensive Bowel Support" and I would say it helps. It hasnt completely gotten rid of my symptoms but made a noticable improvement. It is about $8 a box at Walmart, plus coupons on thier website. I looked at the more expensive probiotics but didnt want to risk the $40 if it wasnt going to work.

One thing I have noticed lately is that once I went on a diet and started cutting down my portions, I havent felt one pain (except for after a banana but thats no surprise). I used to get pains randomly and now I think since I have been giving my intesteins less to deal with they are much happier. It has only been 5 days so I am keeping my fingers crossed that it keeps up. I have spent years trying to get rid of these pains and eating less finally made a difference...who knew. Im not saying I'm 100% now but I thought I would pass it along. haha

When you first log into this group, look at the top of the page and it will tell you there is no leader, and asks if you would like to lead it. Click on it and follow the instructions. Let me know if you have any questions.

SAPPKI,
I agree that probiotics are good for you. I am taking Pro-Defense, a Garden of Life product. Since I began taking it, I feel much better and have more energy. It also, I believe, has helped me with controlling diarrhea caused by UC.

Please keep us updated how you are doing! emoticon

P.S. I previously was leader of this group but also lead another group, IBD, so dropped this one for lack of time.... Currently there is no one leading. Would you like to take that role? emoticon

Blessings,
Rachel

I know a lot of people are probably past the stage of probiotics being helpful, but if you have any experience with them please share. I've just started taking some and don't know how I feel about it yet. Which ones are the good ones? Do I need to buy the expensive ones? Are some cultures better than others? I just found this link on SP and would like to share it for other people who are using or considering probiotics. I sent it to my sister as well even though she doesn't have colitis because if this article is correct then probiotics are good for everyone.
