A friend of mine who road bikes has me hooked on the spinnervals dvd's - there are a ton of them - geared toward road race bikers - tri athletes. My favorite one is one that you do intervals - bike 8 minutes then get off and do push ups, or lunges or arms ...then back on the bike.
I'm actually *in* the infomercial! I submitted a testimonial about my experiences with Spinning last March, and was selected to receive a free trip to WSSC (World Spinning and Sports Conference) in Miami at the end of May to participate in filming. What an incredible experience! I'm now a Spinning instructor, and want to go to WSSC '09 so bad!
The bike in the commercial is not as heavy-duty as the gym bikes, but it has the same basic "build" as the gym ones. So, you have the same ability to adjust the bike to your body for a far more customized ride than your typical stationary bike. Plus, with the weighted flywheel, you get the out-of-saddle moves that you miss with other stationary bikes. The DVDs are awesome. I am so impressed with the Master instructors. Every one I met, and every workshop or ride I participated in showed their incredible commitment and passion for the program.
I can't compare the Spinner Fit with other home models, because this is the only one I have experience with. But, if I were investing in some kind of stationary bike, there's no question that the Spinner bikes are far superior to others that I've tried.
My advice is NOT to purchase from SpinningTV.com. You can get a better deal on the same bike from Spinning.com. Look for the "Spinner Sport" model.
The sport bike itself is definitely not as nice as the professional models but it is more than adequate for my home needs. I got the ultimate package that comes with upgrade pedals, a padded seat cover (lifesaver), and 10 workout DVDs, plus free shipping. (Still cheaper than the basic infomercial set!)
I tivoed the infomercial and it was great. Now I have to talk my husband into adding that to my garage studio. The payment plan is great. I have been to the spinning site too and they have several higher on the line models that aren't that much more expensive and if you have a membership to Spinning( 1 year cost $99.00) you can save 20% on a bike too. You also get a t-shirt a cd and some other things. I wonder if you can get a 20% discount on the tv bike too??? If anyone takes the plunge let me know.

I also have the NXT. You have to be a little bit careful, because the term Spinning is copyrighted by Madd Dogg Athletics. Spinning TV is connected with them. The bike they sell is a home model which is similar but not nearly as durable as the gym model. I got my NXT on eBay for $900 brand new, they are normally $1200-1400 at spinning.com The NXT is definitely worth the extra cost.
I've been spinning for 10 years I love it.... yes it is an execlent aerobic work out very high impact as far as the spinning machine they have we own 2 of them they are made by the Spinning System also known as Mad Dogg Athletics, I do have the Spinner Pro & Spinner NXT they are few dollars more and worth the investment if you are looking to purchase one...... my recomendation is NXT it is worth the price it is...good luck to you. Kevin, I'd have to agree with you 100%! When I was first diagnosed with MS, my neurologist from USC said that spinning was the best aerobic exercise that there is!!! At that time, I didn't know that I would love spin as much I do now! It looked like too much of a challenge for me to attempt. Oh well.....that was yesterday....this is today....and I spin 5 to 7 days a week.........I LOVE IT!!! Aileen
Yesterday there was an infomercial on spinning. It was kind of interesting. Talking about how spinning is the best aerobic exercise out there and they have the new revolutionary spinning bike, the only one of its kind. It looked like a typical spinning cycle. Only a less rugged than what you would find in a gym. I liked what they said and agree that spinning is one of the best aerobic exercises. I was just curious if anyone else say this and what they think about the bike they were selling.
Trying to get going again after falling off the weight loss wagon!!
