Been going to the pool each and every morning, bound and determined to not only have fun getting moving, but to create a fun new habit I can live with. I happen to have always loved being in the water, used to be on the swim team in my youth. I think I may be part fish. I am strong in the water and getting stronger and more flexible already. Wt is coming off, got past my plateau.
Reading The Spark has inspired me to create my own streak. I used to visualize a necklace, adding a bead to it each day I accomplish whatever the necklace was representing. The streak is a more competitive reality for me, which is good as I actually love challenges and healthy competition.
Meeting tons of really great people in those waters. Which may lead to a new career path, ideas are coming to me. Also note I begin my day with prayer and a 12 step meeting before I hit that pool. My day is set up for success and being responsible. Also helping others, another key. In the pool too, I am helping to inspire others and reach out to the world with what I am accomplishing.
Hope I actually love going to the gym someday. Still finding my favourite anything there, including the time. For now, it is morning.
I did enjoy going in the middle of the night for a bit, less self conscious about people judging me. I like having the whole pool to myself and the same with the steam and sauna, the whirlpool. I do a complete ballet barre in the water and laps, and all sorts of exercises in the pool. Nice to not have strange looks from people.
0400 has an interesting assortment of folks, the hard core pros who do not have the time or inclination to be checking out others, they are concentrating on their own work outs, very focused... some are just graveyard types and other night folks.
I go back and forth between really liking waking up early and working out before work but more so lately I've really enjoyed going to the gym after work. It started to get me thinking about what other people like more. What's your poison before or after work?
