I took my Girl Scout troop down to Philadelphia to spend the night sleeping in the Academy of Natural Sciences-Natural History Museum and before we did that we went to the Phialdelphia Mint, Betsy Ross House and walked through the cemetary where Benjamin Franklin is buried. I was impressed- not so much the girls! But those old gravestones are amazing!

O)ne of the best proifessional developments I ever had as a teacher was to do a walking tour of my city. We looked at all the old buildings and dated them and went through a cemetary I didn't know existed. There were graves there from the 1600 and 1700. I was totally amazed.

DH left early this morning to go back to work in Arkansas. He was only home 2 1/2 days, but guess that was better than not at all!!! It was 104 here today. I went out and filled the little plastic swimming pool up so my dog would have a cool place to lay in and not have to go in the stinky water down at the creek. A few minutes ago it started thundering and now we're getting a pretty good shower. You must have sent it up here Lynn!
I kinda like walking through our cemetary too. Some of the really old stones are gorgeous!! There is one corner of the original part of the cemetary that has a whole bunch of babies graves. They have little lambs and stuff like that carved in the stones.
Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I love the ww tilapia on their menu! I love the WW latte bars and brownies in the grocery store. And some of the frozen meals are perfect to take for lunch. I sometimes take the lite string cheese as a snack too!

Today was sunny and warm, except for the rain shower that cut a path through our small little burg. Too bad I was shopping and still had some clothes on the line! Got a chance to spend time gardening, and took a ride out to our little cemetary as the parents were anxious for Kris and I to see their headstone. It's very nice, with just their names, and permanent flower holders on the stone. Guess that's a hint that we oughta keep taking fresh flowers! :) After looking around I was fascinated by some of the headstones - what people had written, the pictures on the stones, designs - spent about half an hour walking around, just looking.

Well, promised hubby I'd bake one of his favorites tonight - mac and cheese! I'll be eating healthier, but gotta go start it. Hope everyone has a good night.

Thanks Marty, I didn't know Dottie's had Applebees nutrition info! Jenise is going to school to get a degree in radiography. She seems very excited about it, so I hope she likes it.

Nasty thunderstorms rolled through earlier tonight. I hope tomorrow is nice so I can get outside. Rough day today. Dad not feeling well, my turn for dialysis driving, it took an hour longer than anticipated and we were super busy at work. Didn't get a chance to get on the Internet at all during the day!

Hope everyone has a healthy happy weekend!

Hugs,
Lynn

The past 2 days everytime I get to this post something comes up and I don't get a chance to post! The weather has been sunny during the days and warm. It's rained at night, but just enough to wet the garden so I don't have to use my water to do it.

Went out to eat with Jenise Tuesday night at Applebees - even though we got a chicken dish, and only ate half and took half home the calories soared. I hate these restaurants that won't post their nutrition info! Afterwards we stopped at Wegman's grocery store and I picked up some of their $6 meals - meat & 2 sides. I got one Coconut Almond Crusted Tilapia with broccoli and a mix of jicama, corn, red peppers & asparagus. Had half last night and the rest for lunch today. Tonight will try their Chicken French with Harvest Vegetables and Grilled Zucchinni & Peppers.

Hoping the weekend is nice so I can get outside and garden, walk around the neighborhood. Last night I was on gazelle when I heard the fire alarms go off, then saw the firetrucks come up the street and stop in front of our house - they were there for the house across the street, don't know what was wrong, they didn't do anything but talk to the neighbors, then leave. Must have been a false alarm, thank goodness!

Gotta go get the UPS out before the driver comes to pick up! Have a great day!

Fingers crossed! :) Took Dad to chemo this morning (actually it lasted until 1 PM), makes you realize what people have to go through to either "cure" the cancer, or like Dad, just to slow it down and try and get some relief from the pain. Didn't even mind when he said I was speeding - just calmly told him I was going 10 miles below the speed limit and any slower and we'd be rammed from behind!

It's warm here too - finally! Hope it's nice for a few days. Have a customer coming in to talk about their business, then going home and either going on gazelle, or out to eat with Jenise. Really think out to eat is going to win! LOL!

Have a great night all!

LOL Lynn, it sounds like you're going to be in for some fun times with your new neighbors!! That is hilarious!! I hope they don't give you and hubby any problems.

It has been miserably hot here today. I worked outside a little bit first thing this morning and then spent the rest of the day in here with the air conditioner on. I'm not a very good hot weather person.

Hubby called this morning and said he may get to come home for a couple of days the end of this week. If not, he won't be home till after 4th of July. So...keep your fingers crossed for me!!!

Have a great evening everyone!!

I have that happen all the time. Have to go and reset email preferences. Sometimes it works, sometimes not. All of a sudden I'm getting everything again. It could be because I reset the articles. Had read almost all of them. Lots of team leaders complained (nicely, of course!) and SparkPeople listened and added the ability to reset articles 6 months and older. For some of us, this was terrific - right Marty?

Has misted off and on today, still haven't had to water the flowers! New neighbors moving in next door - the man has a set of deer antlers tied to the grill of his car with twine and has already had a screaming match with his wife/girlfriend (we haven't formally met yet), each accusing the other of being drunks - and they haven't even spent a night in the house yet! This ought to be interesting!

Hubby is already in bed, so I'm reheating leftovers, having a glass of wine, and going to enjoy my book. I got up early and sweated to the oldies with Richard Simmons today, so got my exercise in early. Hope everyone had a good night.

mveneme at the bottom when you are typing a message there is a box you can check that sends you an e-mail when your post is relied to. If that is checked I have no idea, unless you haven't updated your e-mail address with Sparkpeople.

Lynn you are welcome.

What is with all the rain lately and it appears to be almost everywhere too. I'm tired of it but know that we do need it badly.

My mom does weight watchers too I'm trying to get her to figur out how close the curves diet and the weight watchers diets are. She has also liked the recipes I have been pulling off Sparkpeople.

Our yard sale kinda sucked today!! We had some of Lynn's rain. It showered off and on the entire day!! We would start to put things away, then it would stop. Then in a little while it would start again. So we didn't get near the crowd we usually have. I left all my stuff in Beckys garage and she said she's going to do it again tomorrow if the sun is shining.
Hope you all had a nicer day than we did!

Make that raining 17 out of 20 days in June! Our small town (979 people on a good day) was supposed to be celebrating it's 125th anniversary today with a Fireman's parade and block party. The parade went on as planned, luckily the rain let up some during it, but it has poured and ruined anything else! I went to luch at Panera Bread with Jenise and then ran in to Borders where I bought the Hungry Girl Cookbook. Has some pretty good recipes I'd like to try.

Jannie - hope you did great at the yard sale! Marty, I loved your blog - how many points in a day for 150 pounds? Amy, thank you for your kind words. I'll have to tell Dad. He's pretty depressed right now.

Going to reheat my leftover Veggie pizza from going out to eat with hubby last night, then spend the night reading. Hope everyone has a great night!

Good morning ladies!! I'm off at 6 am to drive an hour to my daughters to help her with a yard sale all day. I have my Blazer loaded down with stuff I want to get rid of. I marked it all really cheap cuz I'm not bringing any of it back with me. Once it leaves my house it can't come back in! LOL

Hope you all have a super Saturday and I'll talk to you tomorrow!!

I hate it when something is wrong with you and the doctors can't pinpoint what it is exactly - not their fault, but trying different kinds of medication in the hope that it works just sucks. Too bad they can't hook you up to a machine and it spits out exactly what the problem is and how to cure it! Hope this medicine does the trick and you feel better soon!

The sun is out - finally! So far in June we have had rain 16 out of 19 days- my plants are waterlogged, but the corn in the fields are shooting up ahead of schedule. Around here they say "knee high by the 4th of July" in determining if corn is growing on time.

Gotta run to the bank and then the post office, so will sign off. Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Lynn it sounds like you went through quite an ordeal with your dad!! I'm so sorry for all of you. I'm sure he does get discouraged about it all sometimes. We all probably would if we were put in the same situation.

I went back to the doctor today. Two weeks ago I had eye infection. She gave me antibiotic drops to use, which I did faithfully. All has been well for several days and then when I woke up yesterday my eyes were all red and itchy again. So she gave me a different drop to use this time. The first was $17 a bottle the one today was $70!!!!! A teeny tiny bottle!!! The darn stuff sure better work for that kind of money!! She said if this doesn't do the trick I'll have to go to an eye specialist. Sure hope I don't have to go that route!!!

They got the wheat in the field south of the house all cut and now they're in the field west of the house. They should have it done by dark tonight. Then only 4 more fields that we have about 8 miles from here. Hope the rain will hold off until they get them all finished!

Hope you all have a great evening. I'm going to use my eye drops and go to bed early.

Hi all! Had a problem with Dad's dialysis yesterday and had to rush him to the hospital to get 2 blood clots removed from inside the graft they use to connect him to the machines. Sat in the hospital with my mom half the day, then had to rush him back to dialysis. I feel so bad for him, he was practically crying in the car, asking what he did so bad in his life to deserve this now...could only tell him he didn't do anything bad, and that bad things happen to good people. By the time I got back to work I had so much to do, then when I got home I was exhausted, but decided to exercise. By the time I showered and made dinner, got hubby up and ate I was too tired to get on the net.

Amy - your daughter is doing great! 3 pounds in a week is terrific! She should be proud. Marty is right, she'll do this at her own pace. The most important thing is that she believes in herself. It may not seem like she's losing, but if the clothes start to fit looser, she'll be excited - that's an even better indication of weight loss than the scale! Sorry you're feeling off kilter - hope you feel better soon. How great that your kids took care of you!

I love looking at the before and after pictures on SparkPoeple - it shows how much healthier and fit people look after they journey down the road to a healthier lifestyle. Case in point - Marty looks fantastic in her pic!

As I said in huddle, looking for Noah to come along in his Ark - it's been pouring all day! :( Hope everyone else has better weather and Jannie gets her wheat in!

Till tomorrow!

That's great I'm happy to hear that her self esteem grew as the weight dropped. Yes she will do it at her own pace. We weighed yesterday(here at home) and she has lost 3 lbs this week :) We didn't go on our walk lastnight because I'm not feeling good I had a brief scare yesterday. Went to the store and I started walking sideways. Having a stroke back in Feburary this happening was very scary. Turns out it was vertigo due to the nasal congestion I have been having. Thank God. The Dr. said to keep taking my nasal congestion meds and he said to take motion sickness mes 3 times a day for the vertigo. Her and my sons made dinner yesterday well it was nice bing spoiled again lastnight if nothing else :)

Losing weight was a huge boost to her self-esteem. Once she started seeing results, she really wanted to continue. I'm proud of you. I know what it is to want the best for our daughters, to want to set a good example and to want to protect them from the world that doesn't care. She wil do this at her own pace.

It was rather difficult to deal with my parents but I can't let this continue. I'm so used to it I let if go in one ear and right out the other and my daughter is too senstive to deal with it right now soooo will have to keep distances for awhile. My daughter has 165 to get to the her 125 goal. She turned to eating when her dad passed away. I really hope I'm not pushing her doesn't appear to be so, or if she is doing it for my sake healthwise. The 10 pounds she lost did alot for her self esteem I told her to ignore her grandpa and grandmas comments as they are full of hot air (sigh). Curves weighs once a month but we do every week so will see where we both are tomorrow. Wish my daughter Brianna luck she has a couple of job interviews tomorrow for a summer job :)

I'm so proud of your daughter that is great that she lost her 40 pounds :)

emoticon I feel sometimes we as parents need to protect our children from unthinking comments that family members say. When my daughter and I started this journey she needed to lose about 40 pounds. Because she is tall, it didn't show as badly but I didn't push her. She has lost all her weight and I cannot compliment her enough. What it has done for her self-esteem is amazing.
I am so pround of you for standing up to your parents. I know it must have been very difficult.

I let her lead the way today she got up before I got up this morning. So I played the I'm to tired to go to see what she would do. Although I am really tired this yardwork is killing me whenever I can get it in with all the rain we have been having. Still have to move the path and change the steps around.
I think it is spark teen but no she hasn't gone in there, keep forgetting to tell her about it. She was in a better mood today. But really wish she would talk about what is bothering her than writing it on facebook. But at least I saw it and that is good too I suppose. I have a pic of her in my pics on here I need to take more pictures. The ones of me are from 2007 the pic of her is a few weeks back.

I'm sorry you had a bad day at work really do hope tomorrow is better for you Lynn. I'm going to be making the cantalope crush a day this week with dinner it sounds really good. How was it?

Marty thank you :) My parents are mad at me for the time being but I don't care I have told them enough times to not give her a hard time about her weight and yet they keep doing it. This is sad she was all excited because she lost 10 pounds (this was last week and over a months time) and my dad says to her where it don't look like it. Real nice huh? and I told her earlier how much prettier she looked how she had a glow to her cheeks and everything and he blew that. She is a beautiful child inside and out.
For her I should have done this long ago.

As parents, we hurt when our kids hurt. I'm glad she wanted to go to Curves. And your Mom needs to understand why you are doing this.
I'm keeping you both in my thoughts and prayers.

Amy - I think that your daughter wanting to go to Curves, and urging you to walk is great! It shows she's taking the health issue seriously! Does she go on SparkTeen (is that what the teenage Spark site is called)? She might find a lot of motivation and encouragement there too among her peers.

Today was a bad day at work - I got there and was so busy up until I clocked out - I was exhausted! Hope tomorrow is a little lighter - fat chance probably! :) Came home, thought about a glass of wine after exercising, made myself a cantaloupe crush instead - very nice! Have to get dinner started and wake up DH - he works nights, so we eat late. Will probably sleep good tonight.

Hey you Okies- anyone feel the earthquake? We had t-storms and hail this afternoon. Bad weather! :(

HAve a good night!

Yeah it definitely is. At least the high schccol she is attending is very serious when it comes to bullying so that has helped her so much when she goes to school. Wish all schools were as serious about it as they are. We talked she said she was sorry the note wasn't meant to include me. It was just easier to say family in general. Working on her brothers as far as my parents until they can be polite and more undestanding we will not visit or they visit over here and I'm a bad daughter now LOL, oh well. My mom should know better as she was overweight most of her life.
We both went to curves this morning she wanted too, I hope what she says is what she means because I'm definitely not forcing her and she started the walk I told her I was too tired and she was come on it is only a half hour. So I don't know.

Got to go wake up my middle child we got a job workshop we have to go to that neither of us really wants to go too LOL .

THank you so much for your advice and listening taht note really upset me cried for hours. Don't like it when my babies are hurting so much.

It is tough enough to deal with peer pressure at that age, but to feel like famiy is on her case as well can be overwhelming. Losing weight is personal. Just make sure she knows how much you love her - no matter what she weighs.

Thank you Marty guess taht could be it why she is closing off not my intent to hurt her at all. I started going to the gym and asked if she wanted to come with me. I've never forced her I'll just go before she wakes up and see how that goes. Changing to healthier eating is more for me since I had the stroke I was told to change my diet, quit smoking had already been exercising a litle. SO at least the dinners have to be healthy breakfst and lunch could possibly slide with the kids a little. She may be pre diabetic with the diet and exercise and the dr has said the same for her with the diet and exercise. But at the same time I have to remember she is still just a child.

I'm so sorry to hear you had to deal with that too Marty.

Thank you Lynn and Marty you have been a big help. It really helps to get an outside prespective. Thank you so much.

Let her make the choice. When I was very young, it really hurt my feelings when my family picked on my weight. It caused me to withdraw from them emotionally. Please don't do this to her. Unless there is a medical reason and then it should be up to her doctor.

That is a good idea Marty go the the Curves without her and she what her reaction is to that. I don't know anymore. SHe does pick out dinners for 3 nights of the week. I'm still so new to what to eat that is still healthy why mainly salads for lunch she seems ok with that as long as she picks what veggies to go with it. Alot of the meal planning stuff here and at curves is kinda up there in expense, I'm ok with the dinners with the meal plannings but not the breakfast and lunch too. So I'm trying to figure out things as I go.
I have to get men it appears talking nicely and genial about how much it hurts her to be kidded about her weight or told she has to lose weight over and over isn't helping. I hate being mean but do it if I have to and with this note yep I have to.

Thank you Lynn for the advice I really sprreciate it.

We were going to 24 hr fitness and she didn't like it because it is co-ed. Then looked into Curves because I've heard a lot about it and they were really nice they gave us a 3 day pass to get a feel for it and no pressure. She said she wanted to go to Curves rather than 24 hr fitness because it was all women and everyone is very nice and supportive. She loves it and does the workout the running in place she runs or walks depending on her energy level she says. Stretching she is all smiles and talking to everyone. It appears that she likes it. The walking she instigates ok mom we have to go for our walk and I go. Why the note she left on her profile bothers me. Don't know what to make out of it as far as I go. With everyone else I know this is a problem for her.
The food some of it she isn't happy with. I have her pick her own stuff for breakfast and lunch. I allow her a free day once a week where she can have some of the chips that she likes. But for the most part she is fine having a salad(she picks what veggies and topping to put on her lettuce) for lunch and her favorite fruits for breakfast(wish cherries didn't cost so much LOL but I get them for her). Dinner she poicks what she wants one day and I the next. She doesn't like the whole wheat pastas just one I remember off the top of my head.
I'm so confused with her, and maybe it is mainly her dad and well this is a big change going to a healthy lifestyle uprooting her comfort zone maybe, she turns to food when upset. I printed out what she wrote it was private in a blog it ws out in the open and going to show it to everyone in the family. My mom is the worst with putting her down with her weight which is surprising because she was overweight once herself I keep asking her well don't you remmebr how it felt when people were on your case. My dad is the next worst but he has never been overweight. He is on me about my weight too.

I know she is still hurting over the loss of her father. I wish she would talk to me she does talk to me just not about wht is bothering her she just says I'm fine but you know because of the moodiness. It's like she thinks I have ESP and telepathy skills and I sure wish I did at this point. If I could afford for me to go to counceling I would but i put her over me in that department. I can wait she can't. But I did see the dr and got back on anti depressant and bipolar meds getting samples until I can get a job and insurance and that is helping a bit.

I'm going to try again tonight and ask her for 5 minutes of her time again and I will tell her I'm not her to judge her to just love her and hse where tht goes.

Thank you :)
Amy

You might need to take a step back. Go to Curves alone and ask her what she wants for dinner. Make her brothers and your parents stop making any remarks. When she is ready to lose weight, she will and nothing you can do will hasten the process.

Amy, here are just another mother's thoughts: It sounds like you are trying your best to help your daughter lose weight, and signing up both of you for Curves was a start. But, what does she think about Curves? Does she enjoy going? Does she feel that this is something the two of you can do together to both get healthier? Does she make an effort on the circuit or just go through the motions?

How about the walks? Does she think you're just doing it for her, or have you told her it helps you to have her walk with you? When we started on SparkPeople, my daughter went for walks with me because I said I needed someone to keep me going. After awhile, she started going by herself if I was busy, or our schedules didn't mesh, because she wanted to get the exercise.

The healthier food you serve is not just for her, but also for you - cheaper to make one meal, and if you only have healthy snacks, that's less of a temptation for you too - something you can explain to her if you haven't already.

The fact that you already got her counseling shows you care, if she chose not to let it help her it isn't your fault. She's still hurting over the loss of her father, it takes some people longer to mourn than others.

If you feel they'll listen to you, ask your parents and your sons to back off the weight issue and let her work it out her own way. Ask her to give you 5 minutes of her time, and just say that you don't judge her by her weight, that you thought you were doing something that would help both you and her, that doing things together with her motivates you. Ask her what she would like you to do to help her. Tell her you are there to listen, not judge.

I hope this was some help. And if you haven't considered it before, maybe you should consider getting some conseling for yourself, to talk about how she's making you feel, and maybe a counselor could give you some suggestions with how to deal with your daughter.

Best wishes and hugs,
Lynn

I'm not sure where to make this post but I have been worried about my daughter for awhile. Have known something is bothering her and she keeps quiet found this on my facebook this morning.I have never judged her on her weight(unless she think Curves and the walks are judging her??? and the healthier foods.) As far as I know i didn't force her she wanted too. Now my parents and her brothers are on her about her weight have tried to get them to stop to no avail. I know she misses her dad nothing I can do there. I am her eto talk but she won't talk, counceling didn't help. I don't know any advice??? She is 17 what she wrote is below.

"Here are the facts I dont need stuff to be happy, all I want is my dad but it can't happen, but second best would be NOT TO BE JUDGED BY MY WEIGHT!! (FYI: my family pointing out my weight every five minutes doesn't help the depression, makes it worse) I will never lose weight with everyone in my face, that's why It makes it hard to love a family so cold!!"

The local church had a strawberry festival last night and I walked (up a steep hill, but made it!)to our local park, where it was held. Met up with my parents, who came to eat, but hot dogs and hamburgers, potato salads, macaroni salads, and the rest were not for me, so I bought a quart of strawberries and walked back home. They were the most freshest, out-of-this-world delicious berries I've had! (Since last year's growing season!)

Today I'm going with my son to Red Robin for his "Birthday Burger". He'll be 32 Monday - I can't believe I'm old enough to have a child that's 32! LOL! Did the 1 mile WATP this morning, but will go for a longer walk this afternoon to walk off those lunch pounds!

Jannie - I got kicked off the IM site for some reason - who knows? I'll try back later to see if I can get back on! Have a good day!

Happy Birthday to Vicky today!

Make it a healthy weekend!

Lynn, I'm so glad you enjoyed the Vince Gill concert! I thought he was awesome when we saw him. I'm sure your blood had stopped circulating in your bum after 2 1/2 hours for sure!!! Good music, good food, and good conversation with friends. It doesn't get much better than that!!
I bet you could have just strangled your mom for not calling you or your sister when your dad fell!! That's how my aunt was. She never wanted to "bother" me. Those independent old people can drive you crazy for sure!! I think you'll look beautiful with gray hair!! LOL

The concert was great! Vince Gill and his band played for 2 1/2 hours! My bum was getting numb from sitting so long! LOL! And the reception was fun, good food, eaten in moderation, good conversation with people I hadn't seen in awhile.

When I went to pick Dad up for dialysis this morning Mom said he had fallen last night and she couldn't get him up. Finally, he managed to crawl to a chair and get up. Told Mom she should have called Kris or my cell phone, it was 10:45 PM and we had just gotten out of the theatre, but could have gotten to their house in 25 minutes. My sister and I worry about them - but they are insisting that they're okay in the house. I can see my hair turning grayer this summer! :)

Hope everyone has a great weekend - I hope the rain lets up so I can take some walks outside, maybe do something more in the garden!

Lynn-Thanks for the info on tracking my cleaning!!! I've seen Vince Gill in concert and he was really good. Have a great time!!

I was on my way to work this morning and my battery light came on. The car was running fine and I didn't have any problem starting it but pulled into my mechanics as soon as I got in town just to have it checked. An hour later and with my wallet lighter to the tune of $130 I pulled out of there with a new alternator!! Great way to start the day! At least it didn't leave me stranded somewhere.

Marty-Have a good time at your end of school party tonight!!

Marty - hope you have a great time tonight!

Still raining and with the threat of t-storms - we hardly ever get tornado's, just heavy rain.

Jannie - when you're tracking exercise, click to track cardio, click browse, go down to home activities and you'll see heavy cleaning. You can put your minutes in there so you get credit for them.

Welcome to our newest member, Mandie0421!

The local bank is holding a Customer Appreciation Night tonight at the State Theatre in Easton. My parents were invited, but Dad isn't up to going, so they asked if Kris and I could go as their represenatives. Fancy-schmancy reception at 5:30 with lots to eat (this will be a challenge!), then at 8 PM a concert by Vince Gill. After my day so far today, I am looking forward to it!

Have a good night!

Been haaving storms and tornadoes and funnel clouds here in Colorado too, however the ones we get her are not as powerful as the ones that you get there in Oklahoma. Sunday, tuesday and again today. Lots of rain and I welcome that as it has been so dry here for quite a while. Just delaying the landscaping work I want to do is all, but at least the digging will be much easier now whenever we dry out a bit.

We've already got summer here in Oklahoma!! The temp has been in the 90's for the last 2 weeks. We got rain and tornados last night. We've had a slow steady rain most of the day today which helped keep the temp down a little, but when the sun comes back out it will really be steamy!!

Lynn he sounds so upbeat and cute. It wish it was warm here. Yesterday is was so cold and damp, I wore a sweatshirt and sweatpants. Today it is still cloudy but warmer. When will summer ever arrive?

Marty - no, he hasn't lost his sense of humor - he made my mom stop at the warehouse yesterday after his chemo because he said SHE was driving like Mario Andretti (Indy 500 winner who lives close by)and he needed to rest before she drove the rest of the way home! I said she was the one who taught me to drive! emoticon

Jannie - hope you track all that cleaning! Think of the weight you'll lose by sweating it off!

We have hot, humid weather this week - thunderstorms every day, supposedly until Saturday. Guess it's good to work in an office with air conditioning!

Have fun, eat healthy!

I had a busy day today. After I fixed breakfast for my elderly lady I take care of every morning, I had 3 different houses to clean. Nobody had their air conditioning on and it's 92 degrees here today!! I realize they aren't hot cuz they're just sitting there but I sweated my big a** off!! I was wringing wet by the time I got done with the 3rd one about 3:00. I better have sweat at least 1 pound off!!

PS - I got yelled at for driving too fast for Dad's peace of mind - I was actually going 15 miles below the speed limit - but he asked me if I was filing a flight plan! LOL!

It was a beautiful day today, and I mowed (power push mower) then weeded the front garden and planted flowers in the front and back of the house. Then came in and made a new recipe I saw in the Taste of Home - Healthy Cooking magazine - Italian Vegetable Soup. Made it according to the recipe, and the veggies remain crisp, which I decided I liked. It also used 1/2 cup marsala wine, which I didn't have, but subbed a sweet wine from the local winery called The Rose. Very nice flavor! Think I'll put the recipe in the SparkRecipes tomorrow if I have time.

Talked to Dad - he's letting me drive tomorrow! I told him he should make a "Bucket List" and we'd try to get some things done. He said it would have to be a short list - what did I think of skydiving? I said "Good for you, but I have a fear of heights - no way am I doing that!"

Hope everyone had a great day! I'm going to spend the rest of the night sipping a glass of wine and reading.

Good night all,
Lynn

Lynn--Sorry to hear the diagnosis on your dad! I just don't know why they can't find a cure for that crap!! I lost my mother to cancer when I was 20. She had breast cancer when I was 13 and had a mastectomy and did the chemo and radiation. That made her sicker than the cancer did!! She went almost 5 years cancer free and then she went in and they found that she had it all through her. She fought it for a year and then passed away. You and your sister are going to be worn out from driving him back and forth for treatments everyday, but I would do the same. You're more than willing to do anything that will make things easier for him. That's how I was with Mom.
You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Hi all! Update on Dad - he wouldn't let me drive on Friday, insisted my sister drive, which was okay as I was very busy at work. Bad news, the oncologist said he has stage 4 cancer - it has spread to his stomach, what bladder he has left, and according to Dad and Mom his liver, my sister thought the doctor said lungs. He said he had about 3-6 months to live, and said chemo would help alleviate the pain, but not cure the cancer. Can you believe he didn't want to do the chemo because he didn't want to have us take up so much of our time driving him to it? My sister set him straight - she said anything that helped him to relieve the pain would make us happy, so we start taking him to chemo Tuesdays and Thursdays, along with dialysis Monday, Wednesday and Friday. I had it in my mind that this diagnosis would be bad, just from the way he's been feeling - pain, no appetite, tired all the time. I've given up looking for a vacation rental this year as I don't want to be gone and him take a turn for the worse. So if my time on here is shorter for awhile, everyone knows why.

Well, it's almost midnight, I went way over on my calories ( darn Coffee Coolatta - who knew they were so high in calories?!), but I walked around the neighborhood for 33 minutes and then went on the gazelle and finished my audiobook. Tomorrow is another day...

Hope you had a good night and a super Sunday!

Popped in to say hi to everyone! Very busy at work, which considering how slow we were is good, but doesn't leave me a lot of time to post! :) Probably won't be on much tomorrow, taking Dad to the oncologists. His health has gone downhill in the last week, ever since his kidney doctor told him they spotted cancer on his cat scans. Wait till he finds out I'm driving - that should make his day - not!

Don't forget to print out June's calendar - 30 Days to an Active Lifestyle. It's got some great suggestions! And how about looking up some summer food recipes on SparkRecipe? If you find one you love, let us know!

Have a great day!

Marty - you always kick butt! And congrats for crossing 38,000 SparkPoints! Way to go!

Jannie - you do great on the fitness minutes too! I love watching young children play sports, whether it's baseball, soccor - whatever - they are so enthusiastic and fun to watch!

Knee is feeling better, went to Curves this morning, think I'm going to walk out for the mail (1/2 mile walk) and if it's still feeling good tonight use the gazelle. I'd like to try for another 3 or 4 pound loss in June. I can finally wear my wedding and engagement ring - after 30 years! And I'm amazed at the people who noticed and commented that I'm wearing them again!

Hope everyone has a good day!

Lynn-Take care of that knee! You don't want to overdo and really mess it up!

Marty-I'm going to try and step it up in June too. I've been at a standstill for quite a while now so it's time to get that tracker moving!!

I spent the evening at my 7 year old grandsons baseball game. He's not very good at batting yet, but he more than makes up for it with enthusiasm!! He's lots of fun to watch.

Hope you all had a great day.

I huddled with the team then had to sign off to take Jenise to the gynecologist. Just got home and remembered I didn't post anything on Moms & Daughters!

I did something to my knee yesterday morning while doing the 2 mile WATP DVD. No other exercise yesterday and tried not to walk alot. This morning it still hurt and I debated whether or not to go to Curves, my husband said to give him a good reason to go - well, I want to keep my streak going, I told him. He said it wasn't worth it if my knee continued to hurt - and you know, the man is right! (Who would have thought he could be right for once! LOL) So I'm still nursing it and if it doesn't feel right tomorrow I'll stay home again, but see how it feels at night and maybe take a walk or go on the gazelle if it's raining. (That's the forecast the rest of the week)

I'm starting a game I hope everyone will join in and play. Go to the Challenge thread to see it.

Congrats to Alrad59 - three pounds lost! And to Chairul for crossing 7250 fitness minutes - way to go! We have 2 new members - a warm welcome to EMILY325 and DIANNIEJ !

Have a good night!
