That's fantastic!

I'm going to try to hit the one in Providence on the 2nd... I love holiday races!

I'm still waiting to hear what the Thanksgiving plan is before I sign up for a Turkey Trot... I really want the Willow Tree shirt, though!!

If you run, you are a runner. It doesn't matter how fast or how far. It doesn't matter if today is your first day or if you've been running for twenty years. There is no test to pass, no license to earn, no membership card to get. You just run.

emoticon I ran/walked a couple miles last week but think I overdid it at bootcamp class beforehand and now my shoulder kills. :( I can't wait to run again.

Getting out there is definitely the hard part, especially as we head into winter. I hate turning the clocks back, and losing what little daylight we have in the afternoon. It effectively kills my running until spring, though I do make a point to always get out on the weekends.

But what a great first day out!! YAAAAAAY!!!

I did my first day of the C25K training plan. I ran a cross country path along the power-lines. It was actually pretty easy running for a minute at a time. The last two runs were even uphill! I think my biggest battle will just be getting out there and doing it.

I can't wait to hear how it went!

I'm heading out for a run this morning too, though I'm not sure where I'm going! My favorite place is being re-paved -- which is fantastic, but tricky today! -- so I need to find an alternate!

Oh, winter running is the best!

The hardest part is figuring out what to wear. My perfect outfit is running tights, an LL Bean fitness fleece (they're the perfect weight, and breathe well) with a tech tee underneath, and a warm hat and those cheap gloves that are 2 for $1.50 at Target. This year I think I'm going to invest in some smart wool socks, though I've gotten by with my regular socks in the past.

Fall and spring is awesome weather for running outside. I have never tried it in the winter but am looking forward to trying it :)

Running in the winter is the BEST! I slogged through runs all summer (we called them detox runs, I was so sweaty!) and hated it. But in the cooler weather it's absolutely wonderful!

So personally I think it's the best time of year to start!!

I'm having a really tough time with fall allergies this year, so I think my next race will be the Turkey Trot.

First off I'd just like to say that I hate running. When I got out of the Army, I vowed never to run again. I know... I was being dramatic, but I had to run too much in the Army, and it was never for the pleasure of it.

Anyway, it seems like all of my t-shirts are car related and you two talking about getting some new t-shirts kind of makes me want some.

5K really isn't that far, and having one of those kinds of shirts is kind of a motivation in itself to run and train for another race. I think I'm going to start training for one. I almost think that a November run is too short of a time to train for one (isn't 2 months the norm?) so maybe December? Wow... what a month to start my first ever 5K.

The holiday-themed ones have great shirts and I think medals at the finish... bling is fun. :)

But PIE may be the best race reward ever!

Hey Southeastern MA!

I just took a look at coolrunning.com to find some fun races for this fall... my t-shirt collection needs a boost.

Here's what I found:

emoticon October 7th -- Gloria Gemma 5K, Downtown Providence

emoticon October 21 -- Easy as Pi 3.14 Mile, Slater Park, Pawtucket (Pie at the finish line!)

emoticon October 28th -- Monster Dash 5K, Downtown Providence

emoticon November 22nd -- Willow Tree Family Turkey Trot (I really want the Willow Tree shirt!!)

emoticon December 2nd -- Jingle Bell 5K, Providence

What's on your fall schedule?
