Hi ladies!! Well, we're back from our nice little "weekend" away (since it was actually Thursday-Saturday) ;) and we had such a great time! Pictures to come!

Lisa, you were asking about tips for treadmill running... since the weather here is 110 degrees all summer, and 50mph winds all winter, I do A LOT of treadmill running. :) As soon as there's a nice day I am OUT there, lol. Any way you can put a tv by the treadmill in the basement? Sometimes that helps for me, or I listen to podcasts (Jillian Michaels has a great one!) or some other health-related podcast, or whatever you're most interested in!

Kel, that's sucks that you've been sick alot lately! I'm sorry to hear the move has been a bit tough on you. If you guys sign up for that half marathon, you'll be joining a lot of the girls on the boards here! Eren & Joanie just ran theirs, and Ruj & Lisa are *I think* training. I guess I better bite the bullet!

Eren, LOVE the sound of your third date!! Sounds absolutely perfect... I love active dates like bike riding or hiking or surfing! Stars & coffee/alcohol to top it off... ummm hell yeah! Plus, he sounds like a total catch! Cute, surfs, smart, awesome! So what are the hockey teams you have nearby? I've been wanting to find out so we can still catch the Oilers or the Kings when they come to our new area. It's kind of funny that Cali has 3 teams and they are soooo not a winter state. Which means not many hockey fans, which means CHEAP TICKETS!! lol. It was 25 bucks for both of us. Although James' beer was 10.50. lol. They may not care about hockey out here but beer is universal!

Ruj, how's the rehab going? ;) I hope it hasn't been too too hard to stay off the foot. I liked Eren's suggestion of doing yoga... so you can stay active without the impact. And as long as your food situation is under control you'll do great and keep on losing!

Joanie, so glad you and John got everything settled down! We did too. :) It helps that James is so super-calm it kind of evens out my... volatility. lol. I get mad easily but I get over it fast too so that's a plus! I can't even remember what we were fighting about now. There WERE a few good fights at the game, The Oilers KICKED BUTT and it ended at 3-0 so I was thrilled. lol. By the third period the Kings were just throwing punches since they knew that was about all they could get out of the game at that point. ;) Got the crowds excited. VERY fun night!

Denise, glad you made your appearance for the challenge! I was wondering where you were. =) Sorry things are hectic for you, I hope you can get some time out for yourself soon.

Okie, WELCOME!! Good luck on the challenge. :) Congrats on increasing your mileage!!

Ayla, sorry to hear things are stressful for you... YOUR needs are just as important as everyone else's, so take time for YOU!! I'm totally with you on making it to Thanksgiving! Sounds perfect. Let's make it to turkey day proud of ourselves. :) Also, I'd love to take a look at your Etsy store!

Dawn, wow, that takes commitment to read through all the posts! I hadn't checked in since Thursday and it's been a lot to read! GIRL you are crazy insane busy!! I'm impressed that you find time for us. :) I hope we get to hear from you every week at least. That's awesome about the trip to Nahville, that's going to be so much fun! I'm not a big country fan but I saw the commercial for the CMAs and it got me all pumped up and looked so fun! You're on a lucky streak winning trips girl!!

Jillars, what took you to Uganda?? That's so awesome! I have ALWAYS wanted to live abroad so hopefully at some point we get stationed overseas (NOT in the middle east though!) Anyway I just think that's very cool that you're a world traveler. ;) And LIVING in it is way cooler than taking a vacation there!

One last shout out again to Lisa... 10 miles, AWESOME!!!!!!

OK, sorry for the crazy long post but I had a lot to catch up on in the last few days! That'll teach me to check in EVERY DAY! lol. Quick update on me: Friday was awesome, we didn't have anywhere to be til the Ball at 6, so we were lazy in our hotel room and rented a movie to watch. I went to the workout room where all they had was a bike and an elliptical, so I did an hour of elliptical and circuits with weights. I had my HR monitor on and managed to keep it nice and high. The ball was AWESOME, it's always so much fun to have a Cinderella night. ;) The meal was ok health-wise... veggies, a couple thin slices of steak, and a roasted potato. Also a small piece of cheesecake for dessert. Yesterday we checked out of the hotel and drove home, stopped at IKEA on the way home and did the rounds there... it was fun plotting out the kinds of stuff we'll put in our house when we have it. And then this morning, James had to get up at 5 to go to work! They're on solid for the next few weeks, even have to work Veterans' Day! =( But we had a great couple days. Tonight we're going to a comedy show with some friends. Other than that, it's a lazy day. I think I'll do a workout dvd later, technically I could take the day off but I've got nowhere else to be all day. I better cut myself off now before this is 4 pages long!! Happy Sunday everyone!

Hi Ladies!

Here I am again! Twice in one week! I finally managed to weigh in first thing this morning. I am at 177.7. This is officially the most I have ever weighed and some of my jeans aren't fitting me very well, so I really need to do something about losing this weight! I am not sure what to do about meatless mondays, because although I don't have a problem, there is really no way I will be able to get my husband to go meatless even for one day. I guess maybe we will have to do separate meals on Mondays? Any ideas?

Welcome Okie! Great job on your run and increasing the distance! This is a great group. I have been here for quite a while and it's these girls that always keep me coming back. Everybody is great friends here.

Denise - Good to see you posting! Hope we can both manage to check in more!

Ruj - So sorry about your injury. I feel like once I start to getting in to my fitness routine, I always get sick or something. So frustrating. I hope that after physio and some rest you will be back to normal. Hang in there!

Aylah - I would love to see the crafts you create. Please do share the link! Also, I need all the motivation I can get. I think it would be great if we all work together towards Thanksgiving!

Jillars- Where are you in the North UK? I live in the UK now. Before my husband and I were living in Bahrain for 4 years. I live in a town called Leighton Buzzard and work in London. I am American, but my husband is British. He and his family are from the Derby and Manchester area. Good luck on your treadmill running!

Lisa- Good work on your 10 miles! Woohoo! Hope you are able to the half!

Amber- You are one busy lady! How do you do it? That is so cool that you get to go to the CMA Awards. That will be so fun!

Joanie - So glad your fight is over! That is never fun. Your trip to Myrtle Beach should be a blast!

Ana- I first saw on FB that you were at a hocky game. Fun! Didn't you just go to a Ball again? How was it? Can't wait to see pics!

Eren - Hey girl! Your new guy sounds great! I am so sorry he is moving soon. It's good you are just having fun with it. You never know what could happen though. My husband and I loved in separate parts of the world and the whole first year of our relationship was always long distance. Every time we saw each other was in a different city!

Vallerific- I love raspberries! I especially like bananas with oatmeal or cereal.

I hope I didn't miss anyone out. You girls are hard to keep up with when I can't check in everyday! Keep up the great work everyone. I have been sick the past few days, but hopefully I will be able to get my runs in later this week!

Hope you all have had a fab weekend!

Love,
Kelbo

Well I am a crafter :) I crochet, and paint and would like to find a market to sell the things that i love to create.

I can share my Etsy shop, if anyone is interested in taking a look at some of the stuff i make.

My not so 9 to 5 is working in a Grocery store deli, slicing meat and the like.

I just realized today how lucky i am to see how motivated all you lovely ladies are. Its really inspiring!

Today was... bad. I has a serious junk food laps today that started with chips and cheese dip and ended with Mcdonalds burger, large fries, and topped with a large peppermint hot chocolate.... Needless to say, my tummy hates me and so does my pride emoticon
I think this is a good day to say NO MORE of that...

I am making a resolution and issuing a challenge to all you wonderful chicks.
Can we do EVERYTHING right until thanksgiving day? No large portions, no sweets, working out like we are supposed to every week... And then if we can make it till Thanksgiving, maybe we can even make it to xmas! and beyond! Who's with me?

Hello ladies,

Sorry for the belated replies! I am just getting the hang of keeping up with this message board. It is busy. ;)

Lfranta - I am currently studying in the UK. I'm in the north of England, but will be completing my MA in December, so am just about 6 weeks away from departure. By the way, awesome on the 10 mile run!!! I would love to do that. Good luck on the 1/2. I think you should go for it! If you're already doing 10 on your own, I think on a race day with a little adrenalin, you'll beat 13 no problem.
AnaBanana, I'm from the US but have been living in Uganda since 2007. I'll be heading back there come December, and will love being back on the equator, where it's perfect summer weather all year round. I'm looking for work, so don't know where I'll land come January, but at least my Christmas plans are squared away for the moment being.
Joanie - Right now the treadmill isn't bad. Since I have been inactive for years, it's kind of nice to be inside and be able to control my pace, but it's hard not to stare at the mileage which seems to go really slow. I think I'd generally prefer outdoor running, and think that it will be a challenge after training on a treadmill since you have hills and what not, but am hoping to 'master' the 5k treadmill, and move to the great outdoors when I'm back in Uganda in the warm. We'll see. Today I got my time down to 34 minutes for 5k on a treadmill, which is still really slow, but a big improvement for me from just a few weeks ago. Yay!

I think I may have had my 'savory saturday/sunday' a day early. Went to a wine & cheese shindig at a friend's house yesterday. I managed to only have one glass of wine, and brought some very low calorie puffed wheat crackers, but the cheese was pretty delicious! Staying in tonight and compensating with a veg & fruit filled day.

You ladies are SOO busy! Awesome that you still keep up with the training & diet.

J

That's crazy busy Amber!!!! I'm glad you're finding time to do something for yourself though. Both by checking in here and going back to school. I know you were worried about going back but I hope the juggling gets easier and you'll be so glad you did it in the end! Welcome back :)

Okie- Welcome, welcome!!!

Ayla- Glad to hear you are okay. Just remember that even though your day is crazy, like Amber, you're doing something for yourself by starting your own business and you have to keep that in the forefront. What is it that you'll be doing? We're always here for you to vent. That's how we've kept each other on track all these years ;)

Denise- Thanks for the tips but I got them all too late :( I had french toast for breakfast, figured carbs would help. Hydrated with some water and let it settle for about an hour so I wouldn't get crampy and headed out. And.......guess what?

I DID IT! It was slllooowww and steady but I got it. 10 miles, check!

I'm still going to hold off on signing up for the 1/2 for another week. The price will be the same and I'd like another week of training to make sure I'm ready before spending $40. The last mile and a half I started getting stiff and it was tough.

So that's it for me. I hope you all have a great weekend!

Hi gals!

I have FINALLY read this entire page of posts... HOLY COW you are all insane posters! emoticon love it!

My SW for this challenge is: 254.4. Gross! :[

My week has been retarded:

Monday was, of course, Halloween (and school)... It was great, but I didn't get ANY school work done that night.

Tuesday morning, I got up at 5 am to work on an assignment that was supposed to be due at the beginning of my first class. Then I had to go directly to work because our hours changed and so I have to start earlier, wh ich means I have to drive to school instead of taking the bus and that I am SUPER crunched for time...

Wednesday was school aaaallll day, then I came home to NO milk in the fridge and had to get some for supper, and return something to Walmart. I didn't even get home to eat until almost 9. Then I did some homework that was due on Thursday afternoon. When AJ got home from work on Wednesday night (11pm), we went for a drink, because he found out that his grandpa is in the hospital in Vancouver (flown down from the Yukon, where his grandparents live), and his grandma is having a hard time taking care of herself at home by herself... So AJ and his mom were planning on flying up there on Friday...

Because I didn't get my assignment done on Wednesday night, I got up at Stupid-o'clock on Thursday morning, after getting home at 12:30 am, to work on it some more. It still wasn't done, so I went to my classes and then worked on it until it was finished and I could upload it to my instructor (like 3:30 pm). I got home around 5:30 pm and AJ and I packed his things for his trip to the Yukon (Edmonton to Calgary to Vancouver to Whitehorse, then driving another hour and a bit to the town his grandparents live near... I know at least 2 of you know where those way-points are!! :P), went for a quick supper, went to my Friday-work a half hour from home to pick up some equipment I would need for the next morning (the industrial hygiene job I worked at this summer - I work for them on Fridays, all day, expect for the ONE hour when I have my ONE class), then drove to his parents' place another half hour away to drop him off and pick up their dog. So I now have 2 dogs to take care of while everyone is away...

Friday, I got up and went to three different jobs before I even got to my office. Then, it was a rush to get all the samples I picked up analyzed and the results to our clients before I left to my class. Class + driving + taking to my instructor afterward about next week took about 2 hours. Then, it was back to work, analyzing 12 more samples before I finally left there are 5:45 pm. I hadn't even gotten any of the reports or paperwork done for those samples!! I didn't even have lunch, because I bought a salad and forget to get the dressing to go with it. I tried it naked, but it was just not doing anything for me. My mom called me at 5:50 pm and I was just leaving the parking lots at work. I had totally forgotted that I was invited over for supper.

And today is Saturday, where I have already started to work on homework, connected here, eaten breakfast (soon, I will need lunch - I am thinking something easy, like soup), done all the dishes, and then work an 8 hour shift a 2pm. Tomorrow will be much of the same.

My goal is to check in at LEAST the minimum for this challenge.

One more thing: I got a call on Thursday when I was working on my assignment... I won a trip to Nashville for the CMA Awards next week from one of the radio stations here. AJ was soooo mad that his passport was expired and he can't go with me! So, I am taking my mom. So excited!! (even though it adds even more stress to my life because I am missing school) emoticon

Oh I'm fine, just stress and having too much to do with not enough time to do it getting to me i guess. I'm in the process of trying to start my own business, while still working part time and living in a situation where everyone else's needs always seem to come first. :-/

Hi Lovelies,

Sorry I was away I read the challenge and I weight myself, but I just couldn't fine time to posts. Work was so busy this week TGIF! I am definetely in this challenge my starting weight is 153.2 lbs.

Lisa: For a ten mile run eat some pasta for dinner, a banana before you start run and make sure to take a small gatorade, GU or water with you. Good Luck! on your run. (Not sure how early you are going to do your run, but that is what I ate for my 10mile run at 5:30am. You might need a little more food if you are going on a later run.) Good Luck!

Sorry I don't have time to catch up on all posts, but I will be around more often.

HUGS,

Denise

Woo, busy boards!

Ana, whatís up with your enter key?! And whatís up with our men?! They can be so difficult sometimes! Luckily, John and I figured things out, I hope you guys did too. If they werenít so damn loveable (and good looking!), theyíd be gonners! Ha! I love that youíre a hockey fan, I am too! We donít have pro football, baseball, or basketball in Alaska, but weíve got Hockey!! =) Any good fights at the game?

Lisa, I literally laughed out loud at your ďtackle the snowmanĒ suggestion. Youíre hilarious. Thank you for being awesome. =) And Iím pretty secluded where I live so the neighbors wouldnít see it and think Iím crazy. Good job w/ your water yesterday, I got EXACTLY 64oz. I couldnít drink anymore! As for the treadmill, I have to cover up all the electronic display or it goes by SO SLOWÖlike the watched pot that never boils. Music and a good TV show help too. Have you thought about an audio book? That might help your mind wander away from the monotony of the treadmill. Most libraries have some that you can check out like a regular book. Hey, thatís a good idea, I think Iíll do it too! LOL!

Valerrific, thanks for the reminder! And for the raspberry suggestion, YUM! I had grapes for breakfast and Iím having pomegranate and an apple with my (late) lunch. Iíll try to reach the 7 servings for the day, but I donít think I will be able too.

Kelbo, Iím glad youíre participating! Youíve been MIA since you moved!! You can weigh in whenever you can! Iím so sorry to hear about all the hardships in your family, and that youíre sick. Iíll keep you all in my prayers. Get better soon, hun, and happy 3rd anniversary.

Ruje, Iím glad you decided to give yourself a rest. We are all so proud of you for challenging yourself and wanting to keep pushing. But I know I speak for the whole group when I say that we are proud of you for listening to your body (and to us!) even when you didnít want to! After a few days, youíll be good as new and right back out there running your ass off. On another subject, I laughed when you said ďitís all his fault.Ē Ha! It kinda wasÖbut donít tell him I said that!

Eren, this guy sounds too good to be true! Whatís the catch?! ;) Oh wait, you said heís leaving. Sorry babe! But Iím glad you had an awesome date night, you deserve every happiness!! And even if heís leaving, enjoy him while heís here cuz you just never know! ;)

Ayla, are you okay? Whatís going on, girl? You definitely need to eat. If weight loss is your goal, you CANíT do it by not eating, even if you have to force little bits down. But if something is bothering you, please feel free to use us as sounding board. I hope youíre okay!! And I hope you post back soon so I donít have to worry!! =)

Well, like I said to Ana, John and I made up. Three days of fighting is NOT fun. And it was REAL fighting! We couldnít even have a normal conversations, it was SO frustrating! And it was all over me going to Myrtle Beach. He thought that I had the opportunity to go on vacation and I chose to go to MB without him and without considering going to see him instead. Understandably, he got upset. He felt like he wasnít a priority to me and he was questioning how serious I am about him. Anyway, thatís it in a nut shell. It took me 3 days to get him to understand that it wasnít about not wanting to be with him, it was about me taking some time with my boss/friend who is a very important person in my life and has seen me thru thick and thin, and whom I will be moving away from at the end of the year. This trip was Vickieís gift to me, a time for us to have some quality time and some FUN before I leave, and it was just REALLY hard to explain to him. Heís not usually like that, so it was a bit of a trip. But he finally gets it and he said last night that he feels like a complete ass. I guess I need to work on my communication skills because it shouldnít have been that difficult! MEN!! ;)

Anyway, all is well in my world once again. Thanks for listening. =) I love you girls! TGIF! Any fun plans for the weekend??

Val- You make the raspberries sound so good and that's coming from someone who's not really a fan. Your enthusiasm is catching! Hope you're having a good day.

Kelly- That is a run of bad luck but like Eren said, threes, hopefully that's it for you. The 5k sounds fun! There is a one around here with the same name but I'm fearful of having to run in the snow. How are your play rehearsals going? I hate to hear commuting horror stories. They closed a bridge by my office so traffic has doubled and is a daily nightmare. I flip out about it once a month when the everyday gets all piled up. You have a right to get imitated so vent, vent, vent! emoticon

Ruje- I didn't pick up on how bad your pain was, definitely stay off that leg! Working through challenges is admirable but the girls are right, pain is no good. Speaking of challenges, I have to give you props since you were saying you had plateaued a couple weeks ago and it looks like you've broken right through. Congrats! I know you'll get through this recuperation period stronger than ever. I have to ask, how did the run the other day effect your headache. I've had one go away and one get worse and wonder if it's worth it or not.

Eren- Good luck on your 5k tomorrow, not that you need it! Your date sounds so romantic and the guy sounds like a catch. It's nice to see you getting treated right, you do deserve it! Did he happen to see the news clip of the two humpback whales surfacing right next to a surfer and kayaks. Yikes! It's so hard to imagine just how huge they are until you see them right next to people. I'm hoping to get through "treadmill" weather with my sanity intact. We've got an Xbox in the basement and the idea of playing dvds crossed my mind but we can't seem to find the remote for the thing and the one button on the box does nothing to play the disc. I have earbuds but so far that, and staring at the wall, seems to be my future. Keep your fingers crossed that we hang onto some nice weather for a bit.

Today is going well, I've had two bananas so far and have an apple & orange back in the kitchen with some spaghetti for lunch. Tonight is a club meeting and a rest day. I have a question about long runs for anyone that can help. The 10 mile run planned for tomorrow will be mid morning. How much should I eat/drink beforehand? What's worked for you? I'm not sure how this one will affect me.

Thanks ladies. Happy Friday!

****Lisa****

Eren- thanks mom. I hear ya. Iíll take a few days off. Itíll be hard but it's nice to know that I want it badly. Yeah, it didn't really start hurting until I switched shoes. My body wasn't used to using muscles like this.

Your guy sounds awesome! Keep us updated on your progress with him.

TGIF lovelies!!!

Serioulsy loving the new faces! Raspberries in cereal sound amazing - I woke up late so I totally forgot the fruit, but I'll make up for it at lunch. And good for you Jillars for getting in a run inside with the weather yucky outside.

I got in my 6.5 mile run yesterday and then last night had date No. 3 with the guy!! which included a bike ride, cuddling under the stars and having a delicious coffee/liquor drink/ and lots of good conversation, etc :) Tomorrow I have a 5k so today I'm just going to do my Kettlebell DVD and ice my feet because they're feeling quite tender today.

Lisa - good job on the running! I hate doing the treadmill on high mileage days, too, but two years ago when I was training for my first half, I'd just put in a movie or a good tv show and run till i couldn't stand it anymore, and I was consistently running 13 miles several days a week that way - so it can be done - you just have to have a good distraction so you don't get so bored!

Lori - congrats on the job and so good to see you posting again! Sorry the laptop went on the fritz.

Joanie - I'm sorry to hear you and john are fighting - if you need to vent or anything just text me. I'm always here for ya. And good job with not mindlessly eating at night - I've been hungry a lot lately too but I blame the cold because I know I'm not actually hungry. Also glad your foot is feeling a bit better!

Kelbo - so glad to see you posting but I'm sorry you've had such a darn rough time lately. They say bad things happen in three's and whatnot so hopefully you're done dealing with all of that stuff and can get some rest this weekend and take care of you. I know you're exhausted but I hope your rehearsals and everything have been fun! Miss you!

Ruje - TAKE A BREAK. I'm with Joanie and Ana - no running until you can do it without pain! Minor pain is OK, but if it's pain so bad you need to stop, you need to not be running. Take three or four days off completely - maybe do some yoga or something that just stretches you out - but that's it. And keep icing and taking ibuprofin, stretch, and maybe wrap the area when you're up and moving around. After a few days of that you'll be fine. It's those new shoes - you're using new muscles your body forgot about in all the years we've been wearing over cushioned running shoes. Take it easy and be kind to yourself! Love ya girlie!

Ana - I'm so glad you guys got to go to the hockey game - sounds like a blast! I've NEVER been to a hockey game and we have a team two hours from here ... they're just so expensive and I don't have any friends that are regular hockey fans.I hope you and James have a great weekend together - don't you guys have a bunch of stuff on the agenda? Either way - have fun and enjoy!!

Denise - have we seen you on this challenge yet? I hope you're doing well, wherever you are!

Ok so brief gossip about the boy - he's blonde, blue eyes, thin, adorable smile, smart, funny, surfs, plays guitar, likes to read, great taste in movies, books and food - he's a researcher for a university marine lab here but he (because i have the WORST luck with timing) will be leaving by the end of the month. He's switching jobs and moving closer to his home town, but he'll still be in the state, which is better than the last guy I dated, haha, so we'll see what happens. All I know is we've had three amazing dates, and he's helped me set the bar high again and reminded me of the kind of guy I'm looking for and how I want/deserve to be treated. So no matter what, this is going to be a great experience and lots of fun. Just living in the moment!

Anyway ladies, I hope you all have a great day and a fantabulous weekend! I'll check in later for sure. Hugs!

Just keep running!

Hi everyone, thanks for the advice that I know I need to listen to but donít want to.
Iíve come so far and done way more than I ever thought I could and donít want to stop. Godís giving me all the signs too. He gave me a cold so I skipped a day last week, last night I had a headache but still ran so I ignored that hint. Itís hard to see the difference between a sign and a challenge. You want to run through a challenge to get through the tough times but if youíre leg isnít functioning then I guess thatís the sign to stop.
Bummed but Iíll stop. I signed up for a 5K tomorrow but will cancel it. Going to the chiro. and a physical therapist soon too to nip this thing in the butt.

Lori-congrats on the job! Yeah, sitting all day does suck but thatís what bathroom squats are for! When I worked at restaurants I gained so much b/c you are always freakin eating.

Lisa-I warmed up moirť before I stretched last night. My leg still hurt so now I know itís a little more serious. Treadmills can be boring but better than not running at all. Glad your run was better than before. I start my day with half a cup of coffee then have the other half at lunch. Thatís one thing I will not give up. thatís my drug. I drink tons of water anyway and still do the full glass of water with the apple cider vinegar in it. that stuff helps in so many ways!

Jillars- welcome to the group. Yeah, you wonít find money on the treadmill. I think that was my first time finding that much. Iíve found $1ís and $5ís before but never a 50!

Joanie-sorry to hear about your fight. Itís all his fault. The weather there sounds miserable. I donít know how you do it girl! Are there tons of gyms up there?

Ana- sorry your computer sucks. Mine does too but I guess anything will when you drop it constantly. Youíre so cute with your hockey love. I used to work for the Thrashers until they sold them to the Winnipeg Jets! Enjoy the game!

Kelly-great to see you again! Sorry youíve had so much going on around you lately. Hopefully, itís run its course and on the way out. the Reindeer run sounds good. We miss you!

Well, Iím just pretending to work today and praying this day ends soon so I can go R.I.C.E. (rest, ice, compression, elevate). Everyone have a great weekend!

Ruje

Hi ladies!

Count me in for this challenge. Thanks, for the message and the gentle push, Lisa! Just what I needed! It's going to be hard with my busy schedule, but I will try my best. I missed the weigh in this week, so I will weigh in tomorrow morninng. Is that okay?

I am loving seeing all these new faces on the team! Welcome everyone! All the great things the other girls have said are all so totally true. These are the nicest group of ladies you can find! Love it here!

I have been home sick yesterday and today. Blah. I think it is my sinuses. AGAIN. I think the long commuting and the busy rehearsal schedule may also be taking its toll. I am really getting fed up of the commute already!

It's been a weird week this week. First I got news that my sister's mother-in-law had to have her foot amputated because of an infection caused by her diabetes that kept recurring. It's really frustrating because she has had so many chances to help hersefl and make better eating choices, etc. and she never did it. It could have been prevented. Then I learned that my mother's cat died an she was quite upset. Following that was news that my husband's (great) Aunt Molly died and then his mother's house was burglarised while she was away working in London for a few days. Very upsetting! So, ready for the weekend! I hope I fee better tomorrow!

My husband and I are signed up to do a fun run at the end of the month called the Reindeer Run. I am doing the 5k and he will do the 10k. We are also thinking of setting a goal to do a half-marathon next April in a place called the Forest of Dean where we just spent a weekend away with our dog for our 3rd wedding anniversary. I think that would be a good goal for me.

Anyway, I have to go for now, but hope to be checking in again soon.

Love you gals!
Kelbo

~Kelly

Joanie- Sorry to hear about the fighting, it has to be tough, especially being so far apart. I hope everything calms down for you soon. Maybe when the winds die down you can build a snowman and then tackle it. Get all that aggression out. I'm sure the neighbors won't think anything of it ;)

I did the same thing with extra water to make myself feel less guilty about the coffee but I managed to keep it to just 1/2 a cup and no headache. I got about 80oz today.

Tonight's run was MUCH better and keeping up 10 min splits for 3+ miles was a breeze. The area around my office is nice and flat so I seem to do better on runs over there. I also potted out my 10 mile run for Saturday so tomorrow is fruit and rest.

Jillars- What are you doing in the UK? I've never had the oppurtunity to travel abroad but would like to one day.

I also need tips for running on a treadmill. My mom has a small one that she's giving to me but I'm going to go crazy in our basement on mileage days. Hopefully Ohio weather holds onto Fall until, I don't know, Spring!

Anyway, I hope you all have a good night :)

Hi girls! So still no "enter" happening in my posts. I think my laptop might be about to fritz out on me! Damn. Anyway...........Eren, can't wait to hear more about the boy! He must be a great guy to get a gal like you interested. :) Your oyster dinner sounded fabulous, btw. Oh, and I think you're definitely going to get to 125 this challenge! You're totally kicking butt lately!..........Lisa, thanks for the skinny-minnie comment. Made me smile. :) Ugh, those cramp-y runs are the worst, good for you for plugging through! That takes big time determination!..............Lori, congrats on the new job, that's great news!! I know when I was waitressing I was constantly snacking on the bottomless fresh bread that we'd give to every table. There was never time for us to take breaks and have a real meal, so when I got hungry I'd nibble on bread. it was SO bad for my waistline, and I was happy to get away from it. I'm sure you'll find a way to battle the office arse ;)..................Ruj, I'm with the girls, rest that thang! It's hard take time off, I KNOW, but you really don't want to make it worse. If you have any impact to other kinds of exercise, elliptical or bike or even walking... exercise dvds... try them just to take some of the pressure of those strains! I hope it gets feeling better fast!.........Jillars, what's the "new climate" you'll be in come December (I'd put in a question mark but that button isn't working either!!) What part of the UK do you live in..................Joanie aka Jiminey! Thanks for asking, I did really well last night again, luckily. I was in a class from 5:30 til 8, and didn't get home til almost 9. So I hadn't had dinner yet but I grabbed a little bowl of rice and some cauliflower (leftovers) but stayed away from the snacking and needless junk! so Yay! 2 days in a row. Funny what you mentioned about John, I was also fighting with James last night. Suuuucks! 2 days sounds like a miserable fight, I hope it gets cleared up soon so all those nasty negative feelings can go away for you. Thanks so much again for helping out with this. Good luck with tonight too!!...........................So, James should be back any minute now and we're driving down to LA for the Oilers vs Kings hockey game, SO excited!! It's a stereotype I know, but I am a huge hockey fanatic, runs in my Canadian blood! Then it'll be overnight in LA and the ball tomorrow night! Should I wear my hair up or down ;)

Hey ladies.

Ana, howíd you do last night? I was going to text you but was in the middle of a heated fight with John for, oh, 2 days now? Anyway, I did GREAT, as I was too upset to eat. =( Ended up just drinking some warm broth and eating a few grapes. How is life with James??

Eren, Woo, so glad your dates were great! Whatíd you do? Who is this guy? Is he on facebook? Gotta check him out if he is!!! =) Iím with you on the waterÖ.I need to consistently drink more, not just on Thursday. Gotta make it a habit again. Iím so jealous of all your races! Our running season is over. Winter is in full forceÖliterally! Weíve had 80mph winds and temps in the 20s the last 2 days. Now the wind has stopped but itís supposed to get back up to 50mph by tonight. I hate it. I want to run outside and itís miserable here. Anyway, think of me sitting inside, wrapped in a blanket staring longingly out the window if you donít feel like driving. ;)

Lisa, Sorry about your miserable run. Sounds like you figured out the culprit tho. Was your run better today? I think we all must be a little dehydrated these daysÖmaybe we need a mini-challenge to target hydration. Also, I confess, I too had coffee this morning! But Iíve already downed 24 oz of water and working on the next 24. Iím doing the exact same thing as you: limiting to 1 cup (black) and Iím going to drink an extra glass of waterÖmore to ease my guilt than anything. =)

Lori, weíve missed you! Congratulations on your new job, that sounds exciting! What will you be doing? That training camp sounds pretty awesome too. One nice thing about a desk job over a restaurant job is that youíre not constantly surrounded by yummy food! You can pack your lunches and stick to a meal. If I was around restaurant food, Iíd eat French fries every day. Come back soon!!!

Ruj, my foot is feeling better but not 100%, thanks for asking. As for you, little lady, you need to give yourself a rest! Take a couple days off and let that leg heal! I know you donít want to, but better that you choose to rest it than be forced to rest it because of an injury. If the pain is that severe you need to listen to your body.

Jillars, I hope you had a nice jog! Do you prefer outside or the treadmill?

Well, itís a tense day at work and I better get back to it. Tense at work, tense at home. Sheesh! Sorry if Iím a little negative today, itís just been a hard couple of days. Thank goodness for you girls! Love you all.

Wow Ruje! $50. That's pretty nice. Somehow seems much more unlikely when running on a treadmill. ;)

Hope you all had a good day, just got back from a 5k jog- but indoors. The rainy cold UK does not inspire me to do much outside at the moment, but I'll be back in a good climate in December. I'm looking forward to getting back to the sunshine, hopefully with a few less pounds!

Ruje- Talk about returns on your efforts! That's awesome. I don't know how bad your hamstring and calf pain are but try to do (in good form of course) some squats at a faster pace to warm up your legs and then stretch before running. It's not good to stretch muscles that aren't warmed up and this way you aren't jarring the areas that are already sore. Hopefully the doctors you are going to see will have more solutions for you.

Lori- Congrats on the job! I understand your worries about going from waitressing to sitting all day...the dreaded "office ass" lol! As long as you don't start eating all day at the desk, I'm sure you'll be fine. You've got an active little boy and if he's anything like mine you'll get plenty of exercise at night. Congrats again!

Hi ladies and newbies!

I got a little busy recently so sorry for the silence. I only have a minute before I have to get back to work but Iím enjoying reading your posts.

Ana-Glad you got some time with you man!

Lisa-youíre so busy but itís great that you work your workouts and runs in. Good for you!

Joanie- how is your foot feeling?

Eren-congrats on the fun date. Weíre ready for some juicy updates!

As for me I am still running but through the pain. My hamstring and calf on my left leg are not healing. I try stretching, ice, voo doo, everything. I am going to lookup physical therapists in the area and an intense chiropractor. I really want to run but the pain makes me stop so much.
I took last Sunday off when I should have done 4 miles and that didnít do much.
It even hurts to stretch. I hope I didnít do anything that will take forever to heal. Iíve got 3.5 mile tonight so hopefully my leg will cooperate.
Other than that just trying to stay busy at work and make some money.

Oooh, Tuesday night near the end of my run I saw something on the ground and slowed down to take a look. It looked like a dollar bill but then after picking it up it was a $50!! See, running does pay off!

Have a super day everyone. talk to you soon,
Ruje

Hi girls. Lisa thank you for the message on my page. I'm been fine, our laptop died so I've been tracking on my iPod touch. It's hard to get on the site and message boards. But, I'm in for this challenge. I will get up to date w/ the rules n w/ everyone once we get it back this week (hopefully). I've been working out here n there.I went tues for a job interview at the state prison (where my hubby works) for an office job and got it! I'll start the 1 st of next month so I'm hoping to drop a few lbs before starting. I'll eventually have to go through a 6 week training camp where I'll be running, learning what to do for prison emergencies, first aid...stuff like that. Even though I'll be in an office, I still have to know what to do. So I'm excited. No more waiting tables! Which is kinda bad cuz it kept me very active, so I'll be sitting a lot more so I really need to watch my food even more. Plus I can wear my own clothes and not black uniform n tie! This mssg has taken a good 20 mins to type using myipod, so I'll be back for good very soon!!! Luv u girls

Short term- 15 lbs by June 4th, 2012 (start day to academy)
Middle term-30 lbs by Aug 4th, 2012 (beach trip)

Morning ladies! I'm really trying today but coffee is definitely an addiction for me. I had 3 glasses of water before I broke down and I've only had half a cup so far. I'm going to try to limit it to one cup and then switch to water for the rest of the day. Hopefully, no headaches!

I posted to some Sparkpages this morning and hopefully some more of our FFF will join in the challenge. Fingers crossed!

Have a good day :)

Thanks Eren! I can't wait to hear more about this new guy..hubba-hubba lol :) I hear you on being exhausted. I cannot seem to fall asleep before midnight this week and it's wearing thin. Hopefully my run tonight will help that situation. How far away is your 5k? The 1/2 in Ashland is only an hour away. We don't have a lot of options for longer runs around here. The next one close is the Cleveland Rite-Aid marathon and 1/2 in May.

Jillars- Tuesdays are pretty hectic because my husband has a weekly meeting for his internet business and it's all on me. Today was better but kids really so make things interesting. Some days you can get away with pb&j, others they want a meal with all the fixings...even the 4 year old haha!

So the 4 mile run after work was miserable, had a cramp the WHOLE time. I stopped a couple times because breathing through it wasn't working but stuck with it and got it done. I'm looking forward to Thirsty Thursday because I think the problem was too much water right before running. I hadn't had much all afternoon and guzzled a couple glasses about 15 minutes before leaving. Hmmm. Definitely something to watch.

Dinner turned the night around though. Luckily, there was forethought in my tired brain this morning and I came home to a pork roast in the crock pot. With the extra time, Wyatt and I did puzzles for about an hour before bed. Tomorrow I get to sell dance tickets at the junior high for the PTO. Hopefully I don't embarass Reg too much ;) Then it's back to work and a 3 miler afterwards.

Ana- I'll let you know how Saturday goes and thanks for the encouragement! I know you'll make your goal with how much effort you put in. I saw the Zumba pic on FB and you are really turning into a skinny-mini! All that working out definitely shows.

Welp. That's about all I have tonight. Time to SLEEP!

I'm about to go to bed - I'm with Joanie - I was EXHAUSTED today - but things are good. Using Monday's 133 weigh in as the start of the challenge and hope to be 125 by the end of it! Woot!

Tonight I went out for oysters with a friend - it was my rest day on my marathon schedule so no running for me, but tomorrow is a 6.5 mile run! Yay!

Joanie - the date night was amazing - and had a second date last night! He seems to be a good one so we'll see what happens!

New ladies - WELCOME!!!! It's so exciting to see so many new faces posting! I hope you girls stick with us to the end and have as much fun with us as we always have during these challenges. No matter what you're going through, these girls are there for you (including me) 100 percent of the time - in spirit of course since none of us seem to live relatively close!

I'm excited about this challenge and I'm glad tomorrow is Thirsty Thursday - my body is in some serious need of extra H20 these days.

I signed up for another 5k this weekend - grudgingly haha, just because I don't want to make the drive - but I know it'll be a good motivator. I need to rearrange my long runs to make it happen, but it'll all work out!

Anyway, keeping it short tonight - will post more tomorrow. Ana I'm so glad your guy is home - such a cute surprise! And Lisa your new pic is ADORABLE!!

Love you girls and happy hump day!

Just keep running!

I'm loving all these new faces on the board! This challenge is going to be awesome. =) So for some reason my "enter" button isn't working today, so this is going to be a garbled up post. -Jillars, you've come to the right place! Good job with the first 5 pounds, can't wait to see how much more you lose by the end of the year! -Joanie, thanks so much for helping me stay on track last night. You were my own personal little Jiminey Crickett! -Lisa, that's really exciting about the half! Can't wait to hear how your run on Saturday goes. ;) Congrats on the good weigh-in! -Ayla, here's to getting out of the 180's for good! You got it. So I weighed in this morning at 147.7, and I'm going for 135 by New Year's. Yesterday was an AWESOME day for me, and I did NOT eat at night, woohoo!! It felt awesome to really stick with that little resolution. I'm going for the same thing today. Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Good morning...ug...I'm so tired! I wish I could stay in bed for another couple of hours!! But, alas, day breaks. My official weigh in this morning is 126. Other than being tired, I'm feeling pretty good and I think I'm about ready to start running again! Unfortunately, that has be on the treadmill, but it's better than nothing.

Lisa, yay for Rob!! =) I'm glad you got to weigh in with us. Let the battle begin! Hahaha.

Valerrific, I love the quote you have on posts. Words to live by!

Ayla, 179 is yours for the taking!

Have a great day, ladies!!

Jillers & Ridaht- Everything Joanie said lol! And welcome! This is a great group. Thanks for joining :)

Ana- What a nice surprise! Don't forget to get pictures all dressed up for the Ball :) I'm amazed that you got yourself to workout this morning, I would have had too much nervous energy but I guess a workout is a good outlet.

Well, I went to Target and forgot about the scale and got my niece (5) some slouchy pink boots that her mom says she's been crushing on for Christmas. I remembered when I got back to work so I asked Rob if he'd pick one up on his way back from his meeting tonight. If he remembers, I'll weigh-in. If not, I'll pick one up and weigh-in tomorrow evening.

I ran home as fast as I could today to get my elliptical cross train in and got 35 minutes done instead of 45 :( Picked up the kids, made dinner, cleaned up dinner, gave Wy a bath, read stories and put him to bed then helped Reg study for a test and checked her homework. I've got coffee ready for the morning and my workout bag packed for a 4 mile run after work tomorrow. I haven't packed my lunch yet but there is only about one serving left of spaghetti so I'm thinking of just grabbing the container in the morning with a couple bananas.

I found a 1/2 marathon on Dec 3 in Ashland which is only an hour from me. It would require me to skip two weeks in my training program, possibly only one if I need to use my recovery week to work on endurance. I'm going to make Saturdays run 10 miles instead of 8 and see how I do. If it goes well, I'll register and update you ladies. I'm all butterfiles!

Have a good night all :)

Ana, your grilled chicken salad sounds YUMMY. I'm hungry, I should probably find some lunch. =) What an fantastic surprise to find James on the treadmill. So, is he home for good now??

Ridaht, awesome to have you on board! Have you set personal goals for this challenge? I haven't done that for myself, but I want to.

Jillars, CONGRATULATIONS on your first 5lbs lost, that's a really great accomplishment. The ladies on this team inspire and challenge me on a daily basis, so I think you'll find what you're looking for here. Also, the nutrition and fitness trackers are great. It really helps me to see it all out there, staring me in the face!! =)

Hi All, This is the first time I'm posting to the site. I joined the site a few weeks ago and have already lost 5 pounds, and am generally feeling better just being more active! I'd really like to start off 2012 even better.

I haven't done a group challenge before, but thought that it might be a good mechanism to keep me accountable, and get some inspiration from others. I hadn't used a nutrition or fitness tracker before a few weeks ago, and so far I have found them amazing tools to be more conscientious about what I'm doing, so I really hope this group challenge will be even better. This looks like a great challenge! Thanks so much for organizing.

Nice Joanie, gotta love me some Pinterest! So do we post our weigh-ins for the start of the challenge tomorrow?

Welcome Ayla & Val! I really hope you hang with us here for the challenge! Like everyone else said, this is an AMAZING group, so supportive & motivated. I've loved my journey with these girls! :)

Wow Lisa, regardless of what the scale says it's a damn good sign that your skinny pants are slip-sliding right on! Oh and I agree with you on keeping the grand prize secret. I like that. :) Love your excitement about the upcoming 8-miler! It makes me more excited to run when I hear the excitement in you guys.

Eren, YAY for marathon training!!! This fall weather is GORGEOUS for running in, it's my absolute favorite. I'm not sure if I gave you a hollah about your amazing weigh in but if not... hell yeah girl!!

Joanie, I'm with you on the no-more-pig-outs! Good thing it's Tiny Tuesday. ;) I ended up choosing the grilled chicken salad instead of the grilled chicken sandwich at lunch today, and saved 250 calories. I'm the same with at TOM, just a bottomless pit. You've got it though. ;) You're a rockstar.

SOooo, James didn't end up getting back last night. They had him detour to Camp Pendleton, so I went from expecting him by 6pm, to 10pm, to 2am, to sometime today. lol. So I went to the gym for my boot camp class at 9 this morning, and when I went into the main gym afterwards who was chugging away on the treadmill but... yup! lol. He wanted to surprise me. So after the gym we cleaned up and grabbed lunch before he had to go in to work. Unfortunately, I have to work tonight, and we both have evening classes tomorrow so we won't get an evening in for awhile. :( HOWEVER, we have a hockey game on Thursday night (every time the Oilers... my Edmonton team... come down to LA to play the Kings we try to go) and the ball on Friday night, and are going to be staying at a hotel those couple of days so I'm SUPER excited about that and can't wait!! Soooooooooo so so happy he's finally home! I think I'm going to go catch up on How I Met Your Mother before I start studying. My brain's not in a studying place yet... :)

Keep it TINY girls!! xox

Hello, lovely ladies!

I'm glad you guys like the guidelines. =)

Lisa, about the coffee thing...I feel your pain! I'll let you interpret it the way you way...whether it means you can only COUNT pure water, or you can only DRINK pure water. I don't want it to be too difficult and I know that headaches are a common side effect of caffeine withdrawl so each individual will have to make that choice for themselves.

Eren, good luck with your 5 miles. Wish I could run with you. Hey, how'd your date go?

Valerrific, WELCOME! I love seeing new faces in the challenges! Please let us know your successes so we can celebrate and your frustrations so we can lift you up. That's what we're here for! I love this team. emoticon

Ayla, is your profile picture from Clan of the Cave Bear? I love those books.

Anyway, today is Tiny Tuesday and I need to be accountable! I've been pigging out the last two nights, eating everything in sight! I always get super hungry a couple days before TOM, but man it's frustrating! So, hopefully today I can stay on track.

Have a great day, ladies!

Thanks Joanie for getting this posted! Yay for a new challenge and a new month!
Now that Halloween is over I'm hoping I can avoid any temptations until maybe Christmas!
I like the Wednesday weigh-in - it'll help keep me more accountable during the week, although after Monday's super successful weigh-in I don't want to step on the scale and see anything else haha.
Welcome new fearless ladies! Hopefully you get as much out of these challenges as we do! We're thrilled to have you join us! Everyone is amazingly supportive and encouraging and I couldn't ask for a group of better people.
Anyway - today is day 2 of the marathon training for me - 5 miles scheduled for today - luckily it's a gorgeous day!
Happy November everyone and good luck! Hugs!

Just keep running!

Great challenge Joanie!!! I've already drawn up a little post-it note cheat sheet for the side of my computer at work to remember what to do each day. That way, my packed lunches can have all the right stuff!

I'm excited! I don't know about everybody else but the schedule really works well, especially meatless Monday. I have time to plan menus out on the weekend so the kids will enjoy the dinners. Thursday will be tough. I haven't had a day without coffee since Wyatt was born!

Weigh-in shouldn't be a problem as todays lunch hour is already set aside to get a new scale, hoping for good news. My 'skinny' work pants slid right on this morning! Not baggy like last winter but getting there. Time to get back to training for the half too. It seems like forever since I've ran but it was just Sunday morning. Yesterday was a rest day and today is cross training so I still have another day before a run. The weather this week is supposed to be great. So looking forward to Saturday's 8 mile!

This is from the last thread but I have to say, Eren, you have a good point. My runs always feel stronger after a couple cross train days. I can see how strength training would make a huge difference so there will definitely be some research on that.

Welcome to Ayla and Valerie!! It's so great to see new faces on these challenges. We've been at this for a while now and I couldn't ask for a better support system! I've seen these girls rise up to challenges and meet goals. Every one of them is incredible and I hope we get to see you both meet your goals as well!

Well, besides all that, I think it'd be fun to keep the grand prize a surprise until the end. That's just me though!

Have a great day ladies :)

I hope you'll check in more often tho, we have an awesome, supportive team and many of us post daily. I'm so glad yore joining the challenge. =)

Oh my gosh Joanie, I LOVE It! This is exactly what I've been needing... motivation AND accountability. I was just thinking of re-joining Weight Watchers because the weekly weigh-ins really keep me on track. THIS is perfect! =)

Love the names you gave to each day too! Very cute and will help me remember everything. You rock girl!!

Hi Ladies!

I hope you're all excited about the new challenge. I hope we get some new faces! Our first "official" weigh-in will be on Wednesday, but if you've weighed in for the Spooktacular challenge you can use that weight. Just make sure you post it, or change your ticker.

I'm not going to reveal the grand prize quite yet...you'll just have to wait for that, but I promise it's good! emoticon
