Hi ladies :)

I set up a new challenge as the first sticky topic under the general discussion forum. It will run through Valentine's day. That's about 6 weeks so it should be just enough to get a good kick start.

I really hope that everyone that fell off this challenge joins fresh for the new one! I know how hard it can be to find time to check in but it really needs to be a priority to stay motivated and to maintain and to lose.

Good luck on the new challenge girls!

I really want a new challenge as well! I think working towards valentines day would be a great motivator for most of us, who doesn't want to look hot on V day? Lol

Hey guys! Thanks for the encouragement, Jillars! It was, overall, a good semester.

So, my final weigh in for this challenge was 256.0 lbs. Lol! Stupid New Year's and late night food eating! I am sure it isn't a "true" weight, but that's what it was this morning for my final weigh-in, so I guess I count it... Boo! That means I am up for the challenge, by 2 lbs.

I am excited to do the next challenge. I just started a cleanse, for a week. I was having so many problems with antibiotics that I was on that I needed to do something. I am also de-sugaring. Lol.

Something for ground hog day? St patty's? Or valentine's day? (one month, three months, or two months?)

I would love to do a challenge! I don't know how we go about starting one, but it would be great to have a fun fearless females 2012 challenge to work towards. :)

Amber! Way to go on the 4.0 GPA. No easy feat for sure! Definitely you should be proud of that accomplishment.

Ladies - A question about January for you all. I only joined this group in October, and had a great few first months and would love to see it continue. But, I don't see any new January challenges yet, and there has been decreased participation and activity. I don't really know how all of this works, but are we doing a January challenge? Are people going to participate? Or should I also look into joining other groups? I want to make sure I stay motivated in 2012!

Thanks for all your support & hope you enjoyed a wonderful new year. Time for me to get back to work and back on track!

Hey ladies!!

Sorry I have been MIA for the last week and a half... I have been stupid busy! Does anyone else feel like the time between Christmas and New Year's just disappeared in a flash??

My weigh in on Wednesday was back at 252.2 lbs. I was going to do a final weigh-in this morning, but forgot because I was running late for work. So, tomorrow morning it is!

I am back to school tomorrow, too. It is going to be a busy semester. We are even going to have some classes scheduled on weekends. Gross! But, I ended up having an AWESOME semester last term and ended up with a 4.0 gpa! I was sooooo excited! I just hope it pans out that I get some scholarships.

Jillars - I have never smoked, but so many of my family members have, so I can empathized with your quitting stress. At least you are formulating backup plan!

I hope you have all had an amazing holiday season!!

Amber

Hi Ayla! Thanks so much for the encouraging words. Just what I needed. I'll try the green tea. I don't really get cravings anymore unless I'm out having drinks and everyone is smoking around me - in which case, green tea is hard to come by in a bar. ;) Anyway, I am going to keep it to just that one - and won't do it again. After all, we are starting 2012 in just a few days. I may need to be a bit more vigilant when having drinks and carry some nicorette around - thought I was past those days, but looks like maybe not completely. Thanks again! Jillian

Dont let the one ruin all your hard work. Just keep it at one and remember how guilty you felt about it the next time you get a craving... Its SO hard to quit, i am struggling with it for the simple and somewhat ignorant reason that i just dont freaking want to... But i know i need to...

HUGS HUGS HUGS
stick with it babes, you are strong enough to get through... I've heard that green tea will help squelch a craving when it hits, do you like green tea?

Jillian- I think this is the last weigh-in. I'm at 142.2. Not as much lost as you girly but I'll take it!

Ayla- Don't beat yourself up. It isn't that much of a gain and losing int he new year is always easier since EVERYONE is on the bandwagon. At least for a week or two ;)

Have a good day ladies!

Ayla, Don't be too disappointed! It's the holidays and it's only a couple of pounds. I have no doubt they will fly right off in the post-holiday season! I was in a different country so there weren't quite as many temptations over here... but have no doubt that if I were home it would be a different story. We just need a new challenge for January! J

Hi Ladies,

Glad to hear you are all enjoying your holidays! I'll write more tomorrow - but for now, I wanted to report my weight before I head to bed. I'm currently at 163.8. Is today the final weigh-in for our challenge? If so - looks like I'm at 6.4% weight loss for this challenge?

I'm feeling good about that, but feel bad that I haven't been to the gym in over two weeks!!! I keep intending to go, and have done a couple of workout videos at home, but it just doesn't feel as intense as a run. I need to get re-motivated tomorrow. Not sure why I've found it so hard.

Best,

J

Ayla- So sorry to hear about your leg :( I hope it heals quickly. How was the rest of your holiday?

Ana- James really is a sweet guy but you deserve nothing less! You two really sound so cute together :) I'm glad your holiday is going so well and I'm sure you'll be fine with all the running you're doing.

The kids really did make Christmas this year. Wyatt was so cute and excited. We made Santa some cookies on Christmas Eve and he said that Santa would eat the Santa cut-out cookie first because he wanted to eat himself lol! Then we went to the candlelight service and during Silent Night with all the beautiful candles lit he says (extremely loud) "Hey. I can't see to color without the lights!" That's what they get for providing coloring books to keep the little ones busy ;)

On Christmas he was beside himself when he got a gun that shoots marshmallows. He told Santa that he wanted a "gun that shoots candy with labels on it so you know whos candy it is" Haha. Close enough! Reg got a laptop that the screen flips and you can shut it and work the touch screen like a tablet as a joint gift from us and her grandma and was in 7th heaven. So it was good. We went to my grandparents yesterday and today I ended up having to go to the office and fix the server than out to a clients to install software last minute. (Job security!) Now I'm off until the 3rd!

As far as workouts go, I went to the gym with that free pass on the 24th and today. Unfortunately, I missed on the 26th because I was up all Christmas night with my back flared up again. Might have overdone it on the 24th? I don't know. It's better now but it was almost bad enough for another ER visit so it's back to the chiropractor and back to regular (moderate) workouts until I get back in shape. It was AMAZING how fast 3 weeks went by since that 1/2 lol!

So that's it for here. We have a sitter for the 30th but we always stay home on NYE and celebrate with the kids. What's everyone else up to?

Hi everyone! How was Christmas? Mine was good! Managed to keep things on the healthy side... so I'm happy! Right now I'm in San Jose visiting my sister for the week, and things are good. Just got back from a run and am all showered and clean and ready to catch up on Spark!

So Dawn, did you guys get any snow yet?? I can only remember ONE Christmas without snow, and that year we ended up getting this amazing hoar frost on Christmas morning so it was the most beautiful thing... I hope it was a White Christmas for you! Certainly wasn't for me. ;) I was wearing flip flops all day.

Jillars, how was your Ungandan Christmas? Would love to hear about how it is celebrated across the world. Way to go on the ring idea for your hubby. I hope he loved it!

Lisa, how was your Christmas? I'm sure it was very busy with the kiddos, but those are the best. No one makes Christmas as fun & excited as the little guys. My best memories of growing up are Christmas ones! I guess this challenge is about done now. =( You're right, it really did lose momentum after Thanksgiving. Some of you guys did great though. Your MIL is in my prayers. That's GREAT news that the survival rate is so high... very happy to hear that!

Ayla, that's horrible about your leg!! Oh my gosh! OUCH. I hope you're ok! Sorry to hear about all the wasted effort too. =( Wish I could make you a replacement spaghetti squash. =) Hope you feel all good as new soon.

At home we have all kinds of Christmas traditions, and this was my first year away from home. James was so sweet in helping me keep some of them down here, I swear that man is too good to me. He worked a 24 hour shift from Dec 23-24, and then on Christmas Eve evening we made a mini version of the Ukrainian meal my fam always does. It was all really healthy... wheat, fish, beans, veggies and borscht (beet soup). Later we went to his aunt's for their fam's traditional get-together. They all hang out til midnight and then do a gift exchange. Soooo we didn't get home til quite late, got in a quick "nap" and went to church in the morning. Straight from there we made the 6 hours + drive to San Jose... he didn't complain once even though he'd gotten crappy sleep the last 2 nights. We spent 2 days here with my sister and her in-laws (we all get along great and they're really sweet and welcoming.) and THEN the poor guy made the drive back to Base because he has to work Tues/Wed/Thurs. He'll come back to spend New Year's here and then we'll drive home together. I got to the gym all last week, and this week there will be no gym but I went running yesterday and today, and plan to keep that up all week. No scale with me this week either so fingers are crossed I don't get home to a nasty little surprise there. ;)

Any fun plans for New Year's?

Oh no! Ayla, I hope your leg is ok, and that you recover quickly!!! Burns are the worst. I do love your new profile pic and hope that you otherwise enjoyed your Christmas holiday.

Here it's raining like crazy. The scale is reading that I've lost another pound or two, but I just don't believe it. After all, I indulged in some serious Christmas cookies on Christmas day and have had more than normal wine. Hmmm..... We'll see on Wednesday.

Hope everyone is well.

Last nights dinner... Spaghetti squash, baked with a home made tomato, bell pepper and green onion Italian sauce and 4 cheese Italian sausage... YUMMY right? ...

2 hours of prepping and cooking. I've been craving spaghetti squash for MONTHS... ... ...

Oh and guess what? ... ... ...

I pulled it out of the oven and dumped the boiling hot water out of the pan and down my leg! 2nd degree burns and some skin peeled off of my upper right thigh and a few small 1st degree burns on my lower stomach and left leg...

The worst part though is that none of the food it was salvageable :(

Jillian- That sounds like a beautiful ring. I'm glad to hear that you were able to get it fixed. That's a wonderful present. I hope you have lovely Christmas with your 85 degree weather. Better to be on the other end of the spectrum than in the middle ha!

Amber- I'd love to know how that Secret Santa works too! Merry Christmas to you and enjoy your time off!

Ana- I saw your ornaments on FB, so pretty! You've got real talent. I'm glad to see you're back posting. This has been such a strange challenge in that aspect. I know everyone is incredibly busy but sometimes it felt like talking to the wall! Have you given any thought to running a half yet?

Ayla- Don't stress about a small gain this time of year. As long as you don't go completely crazy, you'll rebound in no time. Especially in the new year when everyone wants to get fit and they'll be asking you how you've been doing it all this time!

I've just finished a super busy week. I ended up taking off all of Tuesday to cook for our office party, spent Wednesday morning at a client's office and then the afternoon at our party. Thursday was playing catch up and getting projects finished before vacation and Wyatt's preschool choir concert. He was so cute but very scared and didn't sing. Today we got out an our early and I barely got everything finished. I do have to stop at a client's new place Tuesday and set up his Peachtree software but that's okay. I don't have to go to the office.

We also found out my MIL has cervical cancer but it looks good so far with a 90% survival rate if it hasn't spread to her lymph nodes. She finds that out after a pep scan next week so please pray for her. Besides that we've been plodding along. I have all our shopping done and I'm looking forward to using the gym pass my boss gave me, starting tomorrow....YAY! Then Wyatt and I are making Santa some cookies before the twilight Christmas Eve service.

So....Merry Christmas! I love you all and hope the gift of everlasting life we've been given fills your hearts with love and happiness :)

Hi Ladies,

I'm now on the other side of the world! Back in Uganda and finally got internet set up, so getting back into the swing of things. I wanted to go to the gym today, but I would have missed the opportunity to buy a small (fake) christmas tree & decorations. Given that it's the 23rd - I prioritized the tree. ;) Gym tomorrow for sure! It's also much harder to get healthy foods here, and there are some staples that I can't deal without like ryvita crackers & bran flakes, so I wound my way through horrible Christmas traffic up and down the city and managed to hit about 4 grocery shops, and find at least a few of the things I wanted. At least fruit & veg are cheap over here. Although all things green - broccoli, lettuce, etc. are basically impossible to find, and if you do find them, they are overpriced & wilted. On the bright side, it's perfect 85 degree weather so I can spend Christmas poolside.

Lisa - I actually got my husband's wedding ring fixed. He had a ring with a spinnner - basically the base layer was silver and on top of that there was another rose gold ring that spins. It was very cool & handmade. Unfortunately someone tried to steal his ring and got away with the rose gold spinner - so I had a jeweller replace it. He will be surprised and I think he will like it!

Ayla - I 2nd Amber. It's Christmas & your birthday! Don't get discouraged. You'll do amazing I'm sure as soon as the holidays pass.

Amber - I have never heard of a teleconference secret santa. How does that work? You hold up photos of the gifts??? Also, sounds like a crazy busy Christmas holiday for you. Best of luck with everything and I hope you are able to enjoy that fondue. Yum.

Anabanana - You are doing some serious training! 6 days a week is a lot - way to go you. ;) Glad to hear the move went well.

Merry Christmas & Happy holidays to everyone! I should be back to the gym tomorrow and resume tracking food (there was about a one week break) today. Time to get back on track after the move.

Best,

Jillian

Hey guys!

Good to see you back here. :P I know how silly it can be sometimes, in general, to get to a computer that wants to work for me. It sounds like you are making the most of your CA Christmas this year. We've had a skiff of snow. Not too much! It is 0 degrees C right now, so... not very Christmasy! It won't fee like Christmas until Christmas eve this year, I think!

Ayla - Don't get discouraged. :) You are a beautiful, strong woman, and this is a hard time of year - plus your 21st bday! Keep your chin up.

I did Zumba this morning, and am now at work finishing off my timesheet and expense report for the week, then we'll be doing our secret santa exchange via teleconference with our other office. And then we're going out for lunch! And get the afternoon off with pay, and tomorrow off.

If I don't check in, have an amazing Christmas!

PS: My weigh in was the same this week as last.

Ok, well I'm all caught up now. Kudos to the ladies who have stuck with the challenge. Looks like we're missing Ruj, Joanie, Eren, Denise, Lori... (and me, oops).

I have stuck with things quite well, have been going to the gym 6-7 days a week and even though the scale is pretty consistently reading the same thing, I'm seeing a lot more tone and muscle, so it's ok. My eating has been good, with a lot less night snacking but still not perfect there either!

Things have been pretty crazy, as you guys know both James and I were in the middle of moving into new places. We are now both settled, yay! My computer crashed along the way, so once I stopped receiving notices about posts in the challenge and my computer went AWOL it pretty much slipped my mind. Of course I thought about it when I WASN'T at a computer but then the few times that I was it just went unaddressed! Sorry to you guys.

Everyone ready for Christmas... =) We put a small tree in James apartment and I spent a day making ornaments and we decorated. Lots of fun! I also spent a few days hunting for presents and sending parcels back home for my family. I got a letter saying to come in for my green card interview on January 20 (it came yesterday) so THAT is incredibly exciting. All things going well, I should walk out of there with a green card and the ability to work and travel! I can't wait to visit home. It's been over a year and I swear it eats away at me so much, especially at Christmas... I was super depressed about missing my first Christmas at home. Hands down my favorite time of year! I'm making the best of my Cali Christmas though, and mostly I don't cry now when I hear "O Come All Ye Faithful"! lol.

I promise I'll be checking in now! =[ And I've already drunk 3 cups of water today. ;) Happy Thursday!

Hi girls, I have no idea when the last time I posted was. I'm not sure why, but I stopped receiving notifications of the challenge posts and then it just slipped my mind. I tracked down the group again today and see it's been pretty quiet, and as I was scrolling down the posts the ONE that popped out to me was Lisa's... I'm so sorry!! I am going to check in better and respond later today, I'm on my way out the door to the gym right now. Big fat apologies to all you girls that I abandoned! I'll talk to you soon.

Hey ladies!

Hope you are all doing good out there. I am finally starting to feel better, yet and still more tired than I should be. Oh well.

We finally got the Christmas tree up last night, while watching hockey. It was very Canadian of us. lol! emoticon

My work schedule is now out of whack, because my "Friday job" (ASE) had 2 jobs postponed until mid-January, so instead of working fulltime over the Christmas break, I will only be working a day or two each of this week and next. It is a little frustrating... But I will take the time to clean my house and organize my office and basement (so I can finally USE the office!), and see family. I'm still working 3-4 shifts per week at SBUX, which is fine, but I could have asked for more hours if I would have known I wasn't working at ASE. Oh well!

Any plans over the next few days? What are your guys' plans for Christmas? AJ and I decided to invite family (his parent, my mom and brother, aunt & uncle, aunt & uncle & cousin) over for Christmas Eve on Saturday. We both work until 2 or 3 pm that day, so everyone is coming over in the evening. AJ then works Christmas morning until 2:30 pm or so, and I will be working at SBUX for an hour and a half or so to get prepped for Boxing Day (Dec 26 - big shopping day in Canada, like Black Friday in the USA). Christmas Day's evening will entail going over to my aunt and uncle's place for turkey dinner & Ukranian food, then to bed for me and work again for AJ (overnight!). I open at SBUX on the 26th, so I'll have to be there at 5:30 am before all the shoppers get out and about - I am done at 1 pm and then AJ and I will head over to his parents' place for Christmas fondue (it's their tradition - his parents are going to his sister's house for Christmas Day). Whirlwind! I am sure some of you are even busier than that this time of year!

I'll try to check in with my weigh-in tomorrow (fingers crossed!!).

Amber

PS: Did a cardio kickboxing workout yesterday, led by this cute, chubby girl, and it was a lot of fun! I have THAT kind of coordination from years of martial arts when I was a kid/teenager. Lol! emoticon

Jillian, Ayla & Amber- I know that we all get busy and I wasn't calling out anyone in particular. I just know (for me) that when things get hectic I push my fitness and health aside. I think as women, we try to make everyone else happy and satisfied before ourselves. Caregiver syndrome? I find, no matter how busy, if I check in here, I make a more concerted effort to eat well and find time for something. A walk, a run, a dvd. I'm also a little embarassed that we had a lot of new joiners because of how well connected this group is and here we are, all over the place instead. Anyway ;)

Ayla- I hope your birthday was joyous!

Amber- I hope you feel better soon and get the rest you need. If the antibiodics don't work, go back. You know your body and don't stop looking for a doctor that recognizes that.

Jillian- I hope your move goes smoothly and you find some time to get the rest you need too. Any chance we can find out what you got your hubby ;) I love shopping for that perfect gift but my husband usually pops out and picks up whatever he needs. Right before Christmas, birthdays, he can drive me nuts. AND......Way to go on the 10lbs lost so far this challenge! You are driving force. School, moving, losing :) Great job! I'm sure the sickness factors a bit but it's just as easy to say, I'm sick, give me pizza rolls. You'll keep it off for sure.

As for me. I've got one week of Christmas craziness behind me and one week left. It'll be busy with some audits and reports that need done by the year-end and me only working this week. I finished the kids shopping Saturday and had our Christmas party then took the kids to see reindeer and Santa yesterday. I have to cook for our office party tomorrow and then out at a client's Wednesday. Wyatt has a Christmas concert Thursday and then Saturday we're making Santa some cookies! I'm going to use the gym pass I got on Friday and then all next week. Besides that, holding steady till the New Year.

Have a good day ladies!

Hi All,

Lisa- I get your frustration, and think that maybe I slowed down too as everyone else slowed down. I'll try not to do that again! Not an excuse, but I'm also moving continents at the moment, have been sick for over a week and a half, and still haven't submitted my MA dissertation, which I am now submitting tomorrow. Still should have kept up here! I really haven't exercised at all in ten days. =( I've been sick and stressed, but really not feeling well for almost two weeks. I finally think that I am rounding the corner today, and think the 15+ hours of sleep yesterday probably did a lot to help.

I missed the weigh in on Wednesday. I packed my scale and had to find a neighbor with one! Anyway, I'm down to 165. While I haven't been working out, it would appear the mostly sick soup diet + lots of water has been working in my favor. I put on a pair of jeans today that I haven't worn in a year and a half.

Amber - so sorry to hear that you are sick too! It's the worst, and if you're feeling like me, it just won't go away. I'm sure it's not helpful that we are all crazy busy, fun fearless females! ;) I hope you are feeling better soon. I'm jealous of the christmas tree. I haven't had any time to get in the 'holiday' spirit. I will have to get a Christmas plant on the 23rd when I'm back in Uganda. I did get my husband a great present, so I'm really excited to give it to him! Just wish he were better at presents too. ;)

Ayla - Yay! Happy Birthday! Hope you survived your 21 run, and that you were able to enjoy it (and remember it) and had a great weekend. New year with new opportunities.

In other news, I have a new niece as of this week! She's so adorable. I can't wait to meet her, but it will probably be about 6 months before I can visit my sister.

Wishing you ladies all the best, and will be in better touch. Promise.

Best,

J

Hi again!

I forgot to mention yesterday that I was at 249.2 on Wednesday. I thought I had used to SP app on my phone to change it, but I guess it didn't work!

Have a good weekend!

Happy belated birthday, Ayla! :) Hope it was a fun one!

I ended up going to the doctor about my stupid, persistent cough yesterday, and he was so rude! He told me it was sinusitis (sinus infection), not bronchitis (the dark green mucous I am coughing up is from DEEP down there, not from post-nasal drip), totally not willing to hear me talk. I was piiiiissed off when I left there are 9:30 pm... but at least he gave me an antibiotic, so it will work... then the pharmacy was closed. So I went and filled the prescription today and it was 70 bucks!! WTF? I HATE going to doctors for just that reason... rude!! Uncaring!! Grrr! Anyway, so I am already having some, ahem, digestive side effects from these antibiotics...

Maybe that was a little bit of pms-related rampage... sorry!

I went to Zumba again tonight, but really only half-arsed it, because I am getting winded pretty easily right now. I LOVE the Friday night's instructor. She is amazing - so fun and full of energy. Love it! I feel good leaving there...

Lisa - I do think I will use up the pass before it expires in March, though I have had to cancel a number of classes this week because I am sick. I figured I would try pilates tomorrow morning, since my cardiovascular system will probably thank me for letting it rest a bit.

I hope you all have a good weekend - Tomorrow afternoon, we are going to try to get the Christmas tree up! Sunday is work.... then I work fulltime at my "Friday job" for the next 2 weeks straight, plus 3-4 times at sbux during the week. Busy busy!

Miss you ladies!

Okay. I have to admit that I'm frustrated. I took a week off from posting because I felt like there were only 4 people left in the challenge and actually posting on the boards (since Thanksgiving really) and I didn't want to discourage anyone or come across harsh and I needed time to cool my temper. It is a quick one, I'll admit, and that has more to do with me than anyone else.

However, a challange means that it will be difficult, in some aspect, otherwise everyone would do it. I hope no one is in need of support because there haven't really been many members here to help, myself this last week included. We ALL need to be checking in here. At least weekly.

Yesterday was weigh-in and I expected to see some folks for that but no. I know it's a busy time of year. That's exactly why we chose to have this challenge go through the new year, right? To stay accountable. To share our stress and success.

I love you girls and want to hear how you all are doing. If it's lack of progress, it happens, no biggie. If you're busy, just pop in and say so. You don't have to write a book, like I do ;) We just need to know you're all there and available if someone is struggling.

So. I'm not upset, just frustrated. I miss you girls. I hope to see more of you soon!

Hi ladies! I've had a pretty good week. I'm still at 143.2 so no change. I'm going to get back to running here in the next couple days. Maybe some elliptical time before then, we'll see. I haven't done anything since the half but they say to take a day off running for every mile of your race. I know that's just running, not exercise in general (lol) but, you know how it goes!

Ruje- So glad to hear the lockout is over! You must be crazy busy now but that's perfect for extra income before the holidays :) How's your leg feeling? Did Sunday's run go okay? I hope so. Are you still using the barefoot shoes?

Amber- Boo to the flu and school finals but on the bright side, you're almost done for a bit! Do you think you'll be able to use up your gym groupon before it expires? My boss and I used to go to the same gym but I quit because of the cost so when he got a 7 day pass to give out to friends he gave it to me! This place is decked out. Lots of classes and a track and treadmills, nautilus machines, pool, sauna, steam room, whirlpool, therapy pool. It's awesome!!! Plus, I'm off the week after Christmas and the daycare is open so I'm thinking Wyatt can go for some morning fun with his friends and mommy can go get her sweat on! Anyway, I got off track. Keep pushing fluids and rest when you can, it will eventually make you fell better and hopefully sooner than later :)

Eren- I too am watching the move on FB so congrats on the new apartment. You'll have to post pics when you're all settled. BTW, that Jimmy Kimmel video was hysterical! I saw the one for Halloween so I knew it'd be good. The gifts the parents thought of were too funny....an old banana, classic. How's your training coming along? Have you had much time with everything else whirling around?

Denise- I just want to let you know that your Dad has been in my prayers and I hope he's feeling better. I hope you had a wonderful birthday and that your training is going well too!

Ayla- Sorry your boss is a terror. At least you'll have a nice long break from her soon. Happy birthday early! Enjoy your 21st but if you go out, be safe! People pushed shots at me that day, no good, just say no!

Jillian- Tomorrow's the big day! I hope everything is pulling together seamlessly for you. Are you all set for your move? I know that can cause a lot of stress but maybe writing it all down (to-do list style) will help. Getting it on paper gets it out of your head and I always feel so accomplished when my list is halfway crossed off...or more. Good luck!

My mom and step-dad just sold their place so there's lots of moving going on right now. It's for the best though, the place was big and it was just them so they were paying high utility costs and real estate taxes, no good.

Yesterday was a meet and greet at a financial advisers office that wants to do business with us and tomorrow is a friend/family opening event at one of our client's new business. Today is my step daughter's choir concert, tomorrow is my MIL's birthday, Saturday is our annual Christmas party and Sunday is the boat club Christmas dinner with Santa. I hope to find time to take Wyatt to see reindeer at a tree farm not far from us too but we may not have enough time :( Next week I get to cook for our office party so I get a half day off to do that and Wyatt has a Christmas concert at his pre-school. Then I should be ready to wind down for Christmas! Busy, busy.

How is everyone doing on their shopping? We have my MIL, my step-daughter and then one gift for my hubby from his daughter (I don't know when I can take her though...). So not too bad. The only problem is a package from Snapfish I ordered that has a birthday and Christmas present that should have been here on the 9th. It was in Cleveland on the 8th and is supposedly still there? I sent them a message, hopefully they can find it.

Anyway, I guess when I don't check in you guys get a novel so I'll stop here and talk to you all later!

****Lisa****

Heyya ladies...

I am sooooo sick right now. It is sooooo the wrong time of year for me to get sick - we are stupid busy at work, and it is final exam time! Uck... It started on Saturday, sometime after my weight-training workout and after I started work. Thankfully my manager was great and didn't really work me too hard on Saturday night. Lol. He and our other male employee were closing with me, so I was at least assured that everything would go fairly smoothly. It is totally a flu of some sort... achiness, headache, sore throat, stuffy nose, and deep, mucousy, painful!, cough. Sigh... I've been overdosing on vitamin C and D, some echinacea, lots of water and tea and lemon and honey, lots of sleep (when I am not studying), lots of delicious homemade chicken-potato-leek soup... and it has only gotten worse since Saturday, Booooo!!!

Alya - I know how you feel about your boss! Thankfully, mine are doing well these days...

Eren - I have been following your moving progress on FB and I am excited for you!

Everyone else - i hope you are having a good week!

Amber

I very much dislike my new manager at work, she is such a witch with a capital B! lol

You know those people who say things should be done a certain way and expect you to do them that way, then they dont do it themselves? Like, oh i dont know... CUSTOMER SERVICE? Ugh...
But at least most of the customers are nice enough to notice that i am working my butt off while everyone else is standing around watching me, and then make a point to ask my name so they can tell the store manager that i am awesome, LOL.

ANYWAY... i am off tomorrow, work and get paid wednesday and then I'm off Thursday - Sunday because i requested off for my 21st birthday weekend! I am probably not gonna go anywhere or do anything... but it'll be nice to have the time off.

Hi ladies,

Well my weekend is pretty boring! Sitting at home and writing, and have started packing and organizing the house for the upcoming move. I have been very good about what I'm eating, but with the writing stress and being kind of sick all week, I haven't been to the gym at all! Other than a few sit ups and some stretching at home, I've done no exercise this week.... Monday is a new week, and I'm going to try to channel some of that stress to the gym. Maybe it will make me feel better too? Have to get back on track with the fitness! Hope you all are enjoying your weekend more than me. My final MA assignment is due on Thursday. I cannot wait to be done with it and am SOO ready to start thinking about the holidays and move on to the next phase of my life! Only 5 more days... Trying to focus until then. Yay!

Jillian

Eren - congrats on the job & good luck on the move! Sounds like everything is working out well.

Amber - Amazing on all the zumba. Still haven't had a chance to try it.

Ruje- Glad to hear the lockout ended & hope that means good things for your work?

Lisa - Yum to donut & fries. Kind of sounds delicious. Maybe I will make some baked sweet potato fries one of these days. ;)

Hi Lovelies,

Eren: Congrats !!! on your new job.

Ruje: I heard NBA players are back on the court. Hope you are doing well at work.

Sorry I been out of the loop girlies. I have had so much ... work and things going on it's hard to come and check in. My father has been in the hospital twice in less than three weeks. He has had a couple of surgeries, but I am still training for my half and trying to eat healthier.

Hope you all have a great weekend

Sorry I've been so slack again - but I have been staying good at tracking calories and runs but wowie has it been a crazy week!
Ok, so last time I posted I had an in person interview coming up ... and it went great!!! They offered me the job Monday - I put my notice into work Tuesday and my last day is sometime the week before Christmas. It was supposed to be Dec. 23 but my brother wants me to move that day so he doesn't have to take a vacation day to move me after Christmas - so whatever. He's helping me apartment hunt and is going to see my favorite one tomorrow and hopefully lock it down - and then i'll go up next weekend to put my deposit, sign the lease etc. I'M SO EXCITED.
And Michael is finally back from Michigan so i get to see him tomorrow and I am seriously full of anxious energy just DYING to see him. I have missed him something awful. But yesterday I got a card in the mail that he sent the day of my interview. So freakin' thoughtful. Swoon.
Anyway - because the stress of this week was absolutely insane - I ran Sunday and then took the rest of the week off because my body ached and i felt like i was getting sick - so i was just extra cautious and then ran 6 miles today - and tomorrow I'm gonna shoot for a 10 or a 12 mile run before Michael gets here. I wanna feel skinny and full of life and excitement haha!
Anyway just wanted to say thank you to you girls for all of your support - I'm sorry I've been so crap about posting for this challenge. My posting will probably be irregular and random until I get moved and things settle down a little bit, but i am still here with you in thoughts and support! You girls are amazing and I love knowing you're out there kicking a$$ and taking names!
Love you girls!

Just keep running!

Hi guys!

Good to see you again, Ruje and Jillars!

Jillars - nice work on 1/2 way! Also, I happened to stumble on an article about running form from SP this morning when I was looking for something to read. Why couldn't I have found this sooner?

Lisa - I am very glad your friend and baby are doing ok!

Alya - I know how you feel... I am just feeling super unmotivated. :( Thankfully I bought a (cheap!!) fitness groupon a while back that expires in March. I therefore need to use all the classes by then or it will expire. It is a 30 class pass. I have been to 2 so far. (But I have quite a few booked for the rest of the month now). Hugs!

How is everyone else doing? My weigh-in was up another freaking pound this week. I don't know what the heck is going on... I haven't been WORSE than I was... I should at least be staying the same... Sigh...

Hope you all have a great weekend. I'm at work right now, then have my Friday class, followed by a turkey potluck at school!, then an hour long Zumba class tonight... Tomorrow morning it is a workout at the gym for an hour, then work in the afternoon. And I think I have another Zumba class scheduled for Sunday morning. Or something. Laters!

Hi ladies.
Yeah, itís been a while. Things got insane here recently. Thankfully, the NBA ended the lockout so games are back on. Oh man, pretty stressed.
I havenít read through all the posts honestly b/c I donít have a lot of time. I just wanted to stop in and say hi and I miss my ladies.

I am still on break from running b/c of my leg but its feeling better every day. I plan on running this Sunday to see how itís healing. I've been eating like a turd lately too so I really need this thing to get better.

I need a good stress reliever or else I am going to run away or go drink a lot of beer.

Iím going to attempt to catch up on posts this weekend. In the meantime give yourselves hugs and kisses from me.

Hugs not thugs,
Ruje

Jillars - I noticed that too! You are almost there and doing so great. I hope you are feeling better soon. Two job offers is fantastic news. Definitely reduces some stress ;) I hope you find a race to train for. I haven't done anything since Saturday. Today was the first day I wasn't sore so I need to find something to start maintaining mileage over the winter.

Ayla- I'm sorry you're feeling down but don't worry about it. I started my journey at 175 and yo-yo'd within a 10lb range for a bit and then lost some and then yo-yo'd in a a 5lb range for a bit and then lost some. It's a lifestyle and you're just working out your balance. As long as you don't give up completely, you'll succeed. We're always here for you if you ever need to vent or just get a guilty day off your chest. Tomorrow WILL be better!

So, as I say all that (LOL) I had a donut at work and fries with lunch. Some days. BUT. Tomorrow will be better. Why? Well for one, the donuts are gone ;) and I don't have lunch plans. There ya go!

Have a good night ladies.

Hi All,

I'm still here! Been feeling icky all week, so haven't gone to the gym at all. I also haven't eaten as much, so still managed to lose a bit. Hoping I feel good enough to go to a graduation party tomorrow and maybe get back to the gym on Friday? I feel kind of weak, but I guess that always happens when you've been in bed for two days straight. Need to get moving soon!

In good news - I have two job offers! So, will probably need to make a decision in the next couple of days, but I'm so happy to have work lined up for January. Makes the holiday a lot cheerier to not feel so stressed out financially. I'm also a planner, so don't deal too well with the unknown.

Ayla - sounds like its a tough patch, but don't let it get you down! I was just reading something - wish I could find it now, but I can't - anyway, it was about how if you don't reach your goal, to think about times when you have succeeded at meeting your goals and what was different then. Why did you succeed? Then try to use those lessons to apply now. Basically, set small short term goals that make you happy & set you up for success. I'm not trying to be all preachy or anything, but don't want you to feel bad. We all have good days and bad days, I'm sure tomorrow will be that much better. ;)

Lisa - so glad to hear that your friend & her baby are doing well. That's wonderful! And well done on the race. That is also very amazing!!! You are making me want to start training for a race. I have a trip scheduled for Thailand in May, so think that I'm setting my goal on looking better in a swimsuit and being in better shape so I can do an open water scuba diving course, which has been one of my dreams. I've gone diving twice, but am not certified. If I can get to 155 by then, then I would definitely deserve that scuba diving course. I'm also going to check out what races there are in my area to see if there is something I can start training for.

Hope everyone else is having a great week!

I'm doing a very very bad job of staying on track... I've been doing the whole middle of the night snaking thing, the sitting on my butt thing... the emotional eating thing. :( and it shows. I was at 178.4 this morning. So much for being in the 160s by my birthday on the 15th :(

It dont help that i'm bloated because it almost that time of the month. Blech. I need to work out some of my frustration, maybe i'll pop in my Yoga-lates dvd later and do an hour instead of just the usual 30 min. (haven't even done the 30 in like a month)

I am so lazy when i can get away with it... how do i stop letting myself get away with it?

Good morning! It's Tiny Tuesday and I've packed my lunch accordingly. Planned on putting some pork chops in the slow cooker this morning and totally forgot so I'll have to figure something else out between now and dinner.

Amber- Be careful on those slick roads! Good luck on your finals. I know you'll do great! Thank goodness for the break from school, it's too bad you have to work a bunch. I hope you get to have a little downtime. Sounds like you're really enjoting Zumba! I guess I'll have to try it out and see what all the talk is about :)

My friend had her baby Sunday night. She had a little boy by c-section and even though he's two months early he weighed in at 4lbs 2oz and 17" long! He has been on/off a ventilator. Having a bit of trouble breathing but he's stable and so is she. She might actually be released tomorrow and I'm praying that he gets to come home for Christmas.

I finally got all the paperwork in I need to do a couple year end financials and returns so it doesn't look like I'll have time to look for a new training program today. Maybe at lunch ;)

I really would love to hear more from everyone. It seems like the board has slowed way down since Thanksgiving and a few haven't come back to post at all. I hope no one is dropping out. I know it can be hard to post when you haven't been doing your best but that's what we're here for, to support and encourage each other.

Talk to you ladies later!

Hey guys!

Sloooowww..... I stayed meatless today until supper, where I had a couple of sole filets. Nummy.

Sunday, I did get to Zumba. It was more crowded in a smaller studio than the last time I went, but still good.

As for weather, it has been all over the place... above freezing, so snow melts then re-freezes, then it snows on top! So driving can be fun. Lol.

It is almost the end of school for the term... this week, then next week is finals. Finally. I'll be working 60+ hrs/wk at my 2 jobs the following 2 weeks while I am off school, then a new semester starts on January 2... Sigh!

Hope you are all having a great Monday!

Amber

I stayed meatless today. No workout. Still looking for a new program. I hope everyone is having fun and doing well!

Eren- Your job prospect is so exciting! I know the in person will go great, how could they not like you :) Let us know how it goes.

Amber- Did you get to go to Zumba? You said you might have slippery streets, are you getting hit with a lot of snow and sleet already?

Jillars- Nice job on your weigh in! I checked out your cousins page. Those shirts are so cute! I just finished my nieces shirt last night and my mom made her a tote bag with a matching dino. I dropped off my extra fabric so it'll all match.

Thank you all for the encouragement on my half marathon. It went pretty well. I have always shot for 10 minute miles on short races (just made that goal on T-day, yippy!) so I thought 12 minute miles on this one would be manageable. I kept a 12:30 pace through the first half of the race, they had some racers doing a 2 man relay so there was a clock at the halfway point but no one calling out times at mile markers. The second half of the race, well, not as good. Ashland, OH is hilly. I mean really hilly and it kicked my ass. I saw speed walkers during the race so I started doing that to get up the hills without losing too much time or stopping completely. I made a wrong turn and made it about 2 driveways before I realized that the people I heard yelling were trying to get me to turn around lol! I managed to jog the last mile though so I came in at 2:48:42 for an average 12:53/mile pace. Not bad and I wasn't last! The bad news is I am super sore and I have to do another to prove I can run the whole thing. What can I say. I'm a glutton for punishment ;)

You girls really have gotten me to this point and I can't tell you how much it means to me to have a support system like this. To post a goal and have a dozen people tell you within a day that yes, you can do that. It's awesome!

So now I'm off to find a maintenance program for half-marathons so I can be ready for another in the Spring!

Love you girls, Goodnight :)

Hi All,
Sorry I'm a bit behind. Under a deadline here and trying to stay concentrated! I weighed in on Wednesday, but did't post here. I am still at 170. Didn't lose weight, which is ok - because at least I didn't gain any! Looking on the bright side here. I'm trying to get back on track as I had a few days there where I was hungry constantly. Not sure why... but feeling better now.

Anabanana - sounds great about the move & the furniture. Perfect timing - I guess I'll have to think of moves around good furniture sales times of year.

Eren - way to go you on all fronts. Your man sounds amazing, and so does your story being published & your marathon training! And the job? Even better!!! Good luck with the in-person meeting although it doesn't sound like you'll need it, and post here to provide the rest of us with some inspiration. ;)

Lfranta - I have no doubt you won't be last. You will do amazing in the 1/2 & I'm sure all of us will be rooting for you! Also, that shirt you are making sounds pretty great. My cousin is making some similar things she is now selling. If you're interested, you can see what she does here: https://www.facebook.com/fortywatt

Amber - I'll definitely try zumba out if uncoordinated people can do it too!

Heyya ladies!

Eren - I hope your in-person interview goes as amazing as your phone interview!!

Lisa - Have a GREAT 1/2 marathon this weekend! :D You are going to be all butterflies at the start line, but it will be fantastic. And remember, go the the (porta)potty as much as possible at the start of the race (ie. get in line, go, get back in line, go again...)

So, I thought I had another Zumba class booked for tonight, but it looks like I don't! Doh! Oh well... maybe me and my "boys" will be able to go for a walk tonight, if it isn't too slippy outside...

All I have planned for the weekend otherwise is homework and work!

Happy Friday my beautiful spark sisters!! I hope you all have had a great week and are getting ready for a great weekend!
Lisa - I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOUR HALF MARATHON!!! I'll be cheering for you as I make my 14 mile run for the day. I'll be mentally running with you! I'm so proud of you and know you're going to kick that race's butt. Just remember to pace yourself so you can finish strong and not hate how you feel after!
Lori - your new schedule sounds crazy and demanding, and like Lisa said, remember to make time for you!
Joanie - how are things going with the boss? Any better? When's your move date?
Ana - hope you've had a good rest of the week getting everything settled and moved in.
Amber - I love the "eh" - haha.

So last night i had my phone interview with the paper in Huntersville and it went amazing. It's absolutely THE PERFECT job for me, and there would be opportunities to advance my career should I decide to actually stick this one out longer than a year and a half - and I'll be so close to Michael and home and all my friends. It'll be weird not living at the beach, but I'll be living on a lake - so at least there will be water! Anyway, I'm driving down to Charlotte Sunday to stay with my girlfriends and then going in for an in-person meeting with the editor and staff Monday morning!! I'm so excited. They're fools if they don't give me the job! So fingers crossed and happy thoughts please - I really want this all to work out. I feel like they will, but a little positive reinforcement and wishful thinking from outside sources never hurts!

This weekend, besides my little road trip, I'm planned for an 8.5 and 14 mile run. Doing the 8.5 tonight, the 14 tomorrow, and covering a Christmas parade for wok - fun fun.

I hope you lovies have a fantastic Friday! Hugs!

Just keep running!

Lori- I'm glad your first day went well! Morning workouts are tough but you'll get something figured out. Even if you only do half in the morning or half at night, it's still better than nothing. I just read a study that said as long as you get your heart rate up quickly, short workouts are just as effective as longer sweat sessions. That's so sweet that Ethan got up with you. Sounds like something Wyatt would do, when he's not being salty. The kid has had serious attitude lately. I actually threatened him with Santa today lol!

Today was pretty low key for me. Work was easy. Spent the whole afternoon putting up Christmas decorations and then did a quick 20 minutes when I got home on the elliptical. Nothing for me now till the race.

I went out and got my nieces 4th birthday gift and some stocking stuffers at lunch. I'm so excited about her present. She loves dinosaurs but is really girly so after seeing some ideas on Etsy, I went and got stuff to make a girly dinosaur shirt! I posted what I have so far on my page. The dinosaur is appliqued with fabric glue onto a pink long sleeve shirt and I'm going to use pink thread to stitch the outer edge down for extra durability and then I'm taking one of the pink heart buttons and giving the dino a heart. I hope she likes it. The dinosaur fabric is really pretty. It's gray and white with a little diamond pattern.

Anyway, that's all I got for tonight.

Ok, so I tried to catch up on all the post that I missed last week..but there were waaaay tooo many! I was falling asleep trying to read them (not that you guys are boring, i'm not used to getting up so early)
Anyways. Today was my first day and it went pretty well. I'll be doing orientation for 3 weeks which is from 7-3 M-F. Today was 7:30 to 3:30 and I got up at 5:15 and got a quick 30 min workout in and just barely made it out the door to make it there on time at 7:30...so I don't think I'm gonna be able to squeeze in workouts in the morning like I want. I'd have to get up at 4:30 to be able to workout, get showered and ready, then get Ethan up and ready and out the door by 6:30 for myself and either have Ethan ready for Jeff to take to school or put him on the bus. Stinks...looks like I'll just be doing weekend workouts for awhile. Once my is over orientation then I can choose if I want 7-3, 7:30-3:30 or 8-4. I think I'll pick 7:30 to 3:30. Its amazing what another 30 mins can get you accomplished.
I was pretty nervous this morning so I couldn't eat, I made myself eat an apple on the way there so I wouldn't get sick, then I had Subway for lunch and then came home and Jeff had made bacon & french toast for dinner. So I did so-so w/ food today.
Lisa-I really miss my elliptical everytime you talk about yours. haha. I really wish I had something I could use for at least 15 mins on these busy mornings/days I'm having.
Well-Ethan got up right behind me this morning at 5:30 thinking it was time for him to get up...bless his heart, he was proud of himself for waking up on his own and then I tried to get him to go back to bed...so its bedtime for the 2 of us!
Looking forward to Saturday-my last day off for awhile! I already have it booked up too, Breakfast w/ Santa then to the hospital to visit my BFF who is having her baby tomorrow morning!

Okay, checked my weight this morning and it was 142.8. I want to use that number lol! Guess I'll just have to maintain or lose more for next week.

Lori- I hope your first day is going well!

I can't wait to go to lunch so I can get stuff to make my niece her birthday shirt. She's into dinosaurs so I'm getting a plain long sleeve tee and than running to JoAnn Fabrics for pretty fabric remnants, applique glue and thread. I found a dinosaur template and I'm going to make her a "girly" dinosaur shirt. She'll love it! She turns 4 a week from tomorrow.

I did my 2 miles (elliptical style since the treadmill is still KO'd) last night and I have a 20 minute workout tonight before my rest day and then the half. Exciting!

Have a great day ladies!

Hey guys!

LFRANTA & JILLARS: Zumba was fun! :P Didn't really feel like I was working out. I didn't look like a total freak all by myself, because the room was full of people - some even had the same coordination as me (aka. horrible! lol). I didn't like the girl at the gym trying to "sell" me on a membership after I was done and in euphoric post-exercise bliss, but whatever. I don't buy gym memberships unless they are on MY terms.

Man, the girls ARE moving around.... lol... all because of BOYS!!! jkjkjk... What we don't do for them tho, eh?? (Yes, that was an "eh").

School just keeps on going... not much to report on that front, expect that finals start on the 12th of December. Woohoo for semester #1 being done!!

My weigh-in this week is 250.6 lbs. What the heck?? It was holding steady at last week's number all week long, and all of a sudden I am up 3 lbs again... Sigh...

Well, that is all for now! I hope you all have an awesome day.

Ana- That is a lot of moving but YAY on all the new furniture! I moved into the house that my husband had already so itís not the same as decorating a place all your own. Heís awesome about letting me change things and only brings up the canary yellow kitchen once every couple months ;) I canít wait to paint that room again lol!

Iím glad you have an even ground now with your MIL. Itís rough going but I think the stereotype is all wrong. Mine said, on our wedding day no less, ďa daughter is a daughter for life Ė a son is a son until he finds a wifeĒ. Even with that sheís still a okay in my book :) She told me yesterday that I look great so how can you not like that!

Yep, this is the week before. Iím so anxious and scared. The weather is looking better though. Itís supposed to be a high of 43 that day with a 28 overnight low so it shouldnít be too cold. Iím wavering between not wanting to be last and just wanting to finish strong without stopping. Weíll see!

Iíll send up some prayers for your PT test. Study girl!

Lori- I totally missed the part about 60 hour weeks. Thatís rough. Iíll be praying for you. Make sure you take some time to plan before tomorrow. Make large batches of dinner when you can for quick lunches and carrots sticks, bananas and pears are all cheap quick eats. Good luck! How exciting!!

Eren- Congrats again on getting published! Thatís truly amazing. Iíll be praying that everything works out like it should in your job interview. 30 minutes away from your boy would be perfect. We have girls moving all over the place! Way to go on keeping up with your running and diet with all that has been going on, I know it can be tough. This guy sounds like quite the catch and very sweet. Itís great that you get along so well with his family too. Iím so happy for you!

So, Iíve been keeping up with my training schedule even though this is a recuperation/rest week. Only a couple more days before the half. Iím up 1.4 lbs (bummer) but Iím not going to let that get me down. I had a couple rough days where I ate anything I could get my hands on but no where near enough to put on an actual pound and a half so itís probably bloat from bad bad yummy foods ha! Iíve got my bananas and soup for today and tomorrow and I might have another can around the house somewhere for Friday. I should be able to be good the rest of the week. I know itíll be easy for me to get back on track after Saturday. I know itís nerves because Iím breaking out too.

Anyway. I hope you are all having a nice Wednesday. We got a dusting of snow this morning so winter is finally here. Time to get the ornaments on the tree and start that shopping!

Yikes! So sorry for having been a terrible team leader and not checking in at all. I didn't even track my calories for about a week - I was still, unashamedly, on cloud nine and soaking up as much time as I possibly could with Michael before he moved. But I stayed good and I even lost a pound! I kept up with my mileage, and I'm on week 5, I think, of the marathon plan, which I still need to post for you ladies.

So quick update - Michael's last day here was Wednesday - we both drove to our parents house that day - and then he invited me Friday to come up and meet his entire family, so I spent a day and a half with him and his family and it was AMAZING. I want to be in that family! And now he's in Michigan on training, and I'll get to see him Dec. 9! And I can't freakin' wait. While he's gone - I'm job hunting to move closer to where he is, which is also closer to home and friends, so it's win win win. I have a phone interview Thursday for a weekly newspaper in a town about 30 minutes from where he is staying and working - so FINGERS CROSSED!!!

In other good news - I won the writing contest I entered and am going to have my story published in a book! The link is on facebook if you girl wanna check it out. My prize for winning is a two-night stay in a bed and breakfast, so Michael and I are already pumped about that.

Diet wise I've been great, running I've been super - but I have been slacking on the strength stuff again, but I figure this next week and a half while Michael is gone, I'll make some more time for it. The stress of job hunting makes me not want to do anything but run and sleep, but I will be good to myself and make time for it because moving to be closer to him and friends is absolutely what I want. I've never been more sure.

I'm gushing, but seriously I have never been like this, felt like this, or been with anyone like this haha. When I came home Sunday there was a present from him for me in my mailbox - an awesome CD I'd mentioned I wanted one day weeks ago when we were chatting. He's the most thoughtful amazing person I've ever met.

Anyway, thanks for listening to me gush - this board has been busy and you girls are doing amazingly. You're all so busy and I'm so proud that still you're making time for yourselves and really kicking butt with this challenge.

I promise I will do a better job of checking in - promise! You girls mean the world to me and if I didn't think I had you girls to be accountable to, I'd probably be all kinds of bad!

Ok, well I'm off. I hope you all had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Can't believe it's December tomorrow - where the heck does time go?!

Love you girls, hope you're all having a fantastic weigh-in Wednesday. I'm holding at 133.

Just keep running!

oooooh boy, so I haven't checked in since Thanksgiving morning!! Oops. Lisa, I'm still here!! A lot of the girls are very silent lately.... no Joanie... no Eren... Thank goodness you other chicas are holding down the fort. ;) I had a busy week moving and am finally settled into the new place. Thanksgiving was great, James & I did our 5 miler in the morning and then headed to the fams, and I really did have an awesome day. So much fun. :) We headed out for some Black Friday (and Saturday) shopping, and ended up with some great furniture deals! He's moving into his apartment this week, so we were able to get furniture that he'll keep there and that will also be for our house after we get married. Yay! We got a living room set (couch, love seat, coffee & end tables, rug, lamps, etc) and dressers for the bedroom. AND a tv. So exciting! :) It's supposed to be delivered tomorrow and I can't wait to set everything up. Sunday was pretty packed too (we were moving HIS stuff... so much moving!!) and then on Monday I was back to "normal." I love where the new place is because it's about 1.6 miles to the gym, so I run there, go to a class, and run home. SO much better than warming up on the treadmill. :) Meatless Monday was a success (lots of veggies on tofu pasta) and Tiny Tuesday... so far so good!

Jillars, that's so awesome about your hitting the 10-pound mark! That's a big milestone. :) Also great about you being such a hot commodity on the job market.

Dawn, totally amazing deal on the Groupon deal you got! I love those things. I still get the emails for Edmonton and some of them make me wish I still lived there... sigh. Tell us about any great new classes you take. I love classes!

Jen, LOL on the cheesecake, and an AMEN SISTER! Cheesecake Factory is like, my favorite place in the world. James & I go about twice a year. Mmmmm.... I swear I could eat it every freaking day though. If only they could figure out a way to make it out of green beans and spinach.

So Lise, it's the week before your big half, isn't it =D So excited for you! You were so right on about the mom-in-law. The more I get to know her I see how well-meaning she is, and we are definitely getting along much better now. I just have to tell myself it's ONE day, and it's better for everyone emotionally to just let it go. Thanks for the good advice. I ended up having a great time at Thanksgiving AND the other family dinner.

Ayla, nothing like a Birthday to motivate! I love short-term goals. They keep me going.

Evenditti, welcome back! Looking forward to hearing more from you. Sounds like you have been through A LOT girl. Wow. You're one strong lady!

Lori, that's crazy about 60-hour weeks! I hope you love your new job though, and that the next few weeks go by fast til things settle down. Ewwww on the inmate food! I'm sorry, but I just wouldn't trust that! Blech =P

Alright, I have to go study. I'm hoping to take the PT exam in December. I have REALLY got to buckle down and study a lot the next few weeks. Cross your fingers, send up some prayers, and send out all the positive vibes you can for me. =)

Today was on par for tiny Tuesday. I did my 20 minute recuperation week workout and the kids are fed and eating Jello.

Good night!

Hadn't realize how long it has been since I checked it...crap. I got so busy/lazy last week. I didn't have Ethan all week so I finished my painting, shopping, and got extra sleep ;) But wanted to let everyone know I haven't dropped out! haha.
I don't have time to catch up on everyone right now. i'll try to get to that tomorrow.
As for myself. I didn't weigh in last week. PMS lol...I start my new job on Thurs. the 1st so wish me luck! Gonna be super busy all month. I have to work both jobs for the month of Dec. cuz I won't get a paycheck til 30th of Dec. so I gotta stay at my other job to make money until then...so I'll be working 60 hrs a week for 3 weeks between the two! Blah...plus Christmas Programs, Christmas Parties, Christmas! & Birthday Parties (2 in the family this month)....Excited and exhausted already haha.
I cleaned my bedroom this morning and nothing is more motivating than going through a dresser full of jeans and a few shirts that I haven't even worn because my butt got too big for them before I even got to wear them :( Depressing...hoping all this running around and working will keep me from eating this month coming. I gotta fit in workouts somewhere I'll have to get up super early and get a workout in before work! I'm looking forward to packing myself healthy lunches everyday and the only food option close to the prison is Subway..unless I eat at the prison..which won't be happening! The inmates make the food...NO THanks! Haha. weeel girls I love u all and miss u-I will try to be on more often and hope all is well with everyone...

Are we doing Christmas cards again this year? I still have your addresses saved in my sparkmail from last year emoticon emoticon

Damn spark!!! I just lost my whole post! Crap!

Sorry.

Erin- Welcome back! I remember you from before and I'm so glad you're joining back in. What type of exercise have you been cleared for?

Jillars- Good to hear you've got the bike seat thing figured out! No need for sore cheeks. I'm having the same issues with food and I need to get it under control. Stress, worry, self doubt. No excuse but we all have set backs. I'm going to make tonight the end of it, ugh.

My friend may be having the baby via c-section tonight. She is just now 30 weeks. Another doctor was more concerned with her state she was being monitored when I spoke with her earlier. If I haven't heard anything by noon tomorrow, I'm going to call but until then I'll just pray and bite my nails.

I skipped my workout yesterday and did it today. Today's I'll do tomorrow and then I'm back on track. That's it for tonight. Sorry about the bummer post but today my heart isn't in it and my mind is somewhere else.

I'll talk to all you lovelies tomorrow. I promise to at least fake it ;)

Hi Ladies!!! I'm Erin, 23 yrs old and am currently living in Charleston, SC. I joined this group months ago because of the incredible, active and relatable members - all of you! - who inspire me. I had the hope that I'd one day be an active part of the group and become another friend and motivator. I jumped into a discussion and was immediately enveloped into the group...and it felt GREAT. I couldn't stop talking about this incredible group of women who truly inspired me, who were real and motivated each other and kept up with each other's lives. Unfortunately, I stopped writing as suddenly as I started but am hoping you'll "take me back"! I am in desperate need of help and motivation! A few months ago, I began having seizures as the result of bleeding in my brain from a lesion. In the first week of January, I will be having surgery to remove the lesion. It's all a very good outlook and I am looking forward to getting this over and done with! I began exercising again at the beginning of November, with the caution to take it slow. With getting back to my normal life and routine, I am looking forward to being a more active member of this group as well...I love the new challenge you posted, Joanie!!!

I didn't mean to make this so long...I just wanted to reintroduce myself back into the group and let you know that I am hoping to be able to get to know you all! Hope you all had a great holiday!

Amber - wow, sounds like a great deal on classes! In case you haven't tried it, I just started spinning and am really enjoying it. Well, enjoying it now that i figured out the seat adjustments and I can walk after I'm done. ;) I haven't tried zumba. I'd love to hear what you think. I'm really uncoordinated, so am always afraid of classes that require too much coordination or skill in following the steps!

Lisa, I'm glad to hear that your friend is doing ok, and that there is no news and it is 'boring'. As they say - no news is good news! It sounds like you had a nice holiday and have really kept up with the running amidst all your other activities. I'm not sure how you get so many hours in a day, but way to go! Sorry I am too much of a wuss and when it's cold, I stay indoors treadmill style, so have no cold running advice for you.

Jenbelle - I 2nd your opinion on Lfranta's cheesecake. It wouldn't last a minute with me. I couldn't go anywhere near it.

Ayla - hope the post-Thanksgiving workout went well. I too am a big enjoyer of the good wine. Been limiting how frequently I have it, but it means I can buy a better bottle when I do!

As for me - things are ok here. I don't know why, but I have been wanting to eat NON STOP for the past 2 or 3 days. It's been pretty hard not to, and I have been snacking a lot more - I've mostly kept it pretty healthy. But, I've been barely staying within the maximum ranges for my calorie counts on Spark. I think I went over by about 50 yesterday.... Not sure what is going on. I'm back under a deadline and am spending all day writing at the computer, so perhaps its sort of a nervous tick to always want to have something to chew on? I have big plans to stock up on all kinds of low calorie snackable veggies first thing tomorrow, and to cut them up- before I get 'snacky' so that they are on hand throughout the day. I have not been able to find plain popcorn seeds (kernels?) to make at home here. I do find popcorn - so clearly the british like popped corn - but where are the kernels? Unclear. Let me hope this desire to constantly eat passes soon! Oh, and I have been back to spinning two more times (munching guilt). I really love how intense of a workout you get in 45 minutes. So nice!

Hope you guys are having a good start to the week.

J

Jillars - Great job on the 10lb loss! That's fantastic :) Pretty soon you'll be celebrating 20.

Amber- Have you gone to that Zumba class yet? Everyone I know that's gone to one has loved it. The church around the corner offers a free class once a week but I feel weird going since I'm not a member even though it's open to the public. I guess I should just get over it since you don't come across free classes very often.

Ana- How was dinner at the soon to be in-laws? The roasted broccoli sounds yummy. I'm glad you were able to pinpoint the weight trigger and even more glad that it's just water retention. That's an easy fix :) I hope you've found a good balance point for eating at your in-laws too. I know it sucks to make concessions like that but if there is anything I've learned over the years, it's to pick my battles lol! My mother-in-law is very sweet and well-meaning but her eating habits are terrible. She's to the point now where she understands that I don't approve of the kids having lots of candy and treats and she listens. She can bring all the stuff over she wants but she knows I'll be the one distributing it!

Jen- You know, I didn't care for the pie! There was something off about it to me. If I made another I'd leave out all the pumpkin and make a plain cheesecake with the chocolate swirled in. The crust was insane good though. I'm putting that in the recipe box for sure! I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We're thankful for you too!

I can't remember when I checked in last so I'll start with Friday. We had a second Thanksgiving and after everyone left I did 45 minutes on the elliptical. Saturday, I went for a 5 mile run as soon as I got up and then we went to a memorial for a friends Dad. Afterwards we went and rang the bell for the Salvation Army. Today I have to fit in a 30 minute easy run and next week is all a recuperation week before the half marathon. The weather here is starting to change and it's supposed to be a high of 36 the day of the race. Anyone have experience running outside for a long time in that weather? The lowest temp I've done a mileage run in was 45. Doesn't sound like much of a difference but it really is!

I think I might get my Christmas decorations down and put out today too. Maybe some baking. I'm so tired though!

I hope you're all having a good weekend. Back to reality tomorrow.

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!!

I am thankful for all of you in my life. Who knew that such supportive, life-long friends could come about from Spark People all across the USA and the world? I'm thankful for all of our health and our ability to persevere through just about any problem with determination and just plain FFF awesomeness.

And I'm thankful I'm not in the same room as LFRANTA's pumpkin chocolate cheesecake because I'd undo all of the work I did this year so far! YUMMMM!

I hope you all had wonderful Turkey days!

Hey Ladies! It's been a busy couple days. I stopped in on my friend after the 5k yesterday and she's doing good. It's been a boring couple days but that's GOOD! The docs are pretty sure the baby will be just fine but as any mother will attest, you don't know till you know and until then, we worry.

Afterwards, we headed to my dad's and had a really nice dinner and a great visit. All the kids behaved themselves and I tried to burn off some cals by doing cleanup and all the dishes. Today we had part 2 for my grandparents and we had my husbands mom and grandma over. My mom stopped by and my brother and his family came too so it was a another full house. We ate early so it's the only thing I've had all day and I did 45 minutes on the elliptical after everyone left. I also speed cleaned this morning before making the meal and I've had almost 10 glasses of water. Doing good. Plus, they all chipped in and did the dishes for me! Awesome right?!!!

Tomorrow I have to get my 5 mile run in first thing. We have a memorial at 1:30pm and then we're ringing the bell for the Salvation Army in the afternoon. I just remembered today is Friday not Thursday dangit! I'm all screwed up on my challenge days lol!

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving. It sounds like they all went well.

Talk to you all later.

Hey gals!

Happy Black Friday to all the shoppers out there, and Happy belated Thanksgiving to you all (Thanksgiving in Canada is in October...)!

Lisa - great work with your turkey trot! And also, WOOT! on the 12 mile run. How is your friend doing? My cousin had her baby girl in June and she wasn't due until September. Baby was in the hospital for almost 3 months, but she is 2 and a half now and is doing amazing! Normal little girl. :)

Ana - That is one sassy a$$ pic! :P As for my work during school... Tues/Thurs nights and 8 hours each on Sat/Sun, it is Starbucks still. It is so close to home... And Fridays, when I have onely one class (from 12-1pm), I work for the health and safety company I worked for most of the summer - I usually get in 6-8 hrs.

Jillars - Just use your gym's scale! :D Actually, it doesn't really matter what scale or where you use it, as long as you are consistent... So I try to only use my scale in my master bathroom at home.

I am having a bit of runner's envy of you all right now! :P The most running I have done in the past little while is to and from the mailbox with my dog. As mush as I would *love* to love to run, I still honestly can't say that I do... sigh...

I don't know if any of you ever heard about a company called Metabody... Anyway, they had a Groupon back in September where you could sign up for 30 fitness classes for $30 bucks from different providers (there are ladies-only gyms, boxing classes, taekwondo classes, yoga, etc.), so I got it. I had gotten a similar deal from Groupon in February through Metabody, but there were different class providers. Soooo... I signed up for my first-ever Zumba class this evening after work. I have a whole bunch of differnent classes booked until the new year, but I already have to cancel some because of work and treatements for my back! Grrr!

My Wednesday weigh-in was up 0.6 lbs, which I guess is ok for TOM, but I am still disappointed. I started taking my vitamins on Wednesday night, so I am hoping the added nutrients will be able to help me out of the horrible mood I have been in the past 2 days!

Hey Ladies,

Happy Turkey day! I checked my weight at the gym since my scale was acting a little crazy, and I'm SOOO happy to say that I've officially lost 10 lbs since I started 7.5 weeks ago. Feels like a real achievement.

While I'm not in Thanksgiving territory, all your talk of the Turkey trots inspired me to do a 5k on the treadmill today. My time was 33 minutes, which is my best time yet. Yay! A lot to be thankful for today.

Val, Oreos must be one of my favorite all time junk food ever. They are SOOO delicious. I can't go anywhere near them without eating the entire pack, so have had to eliminate them from my life completely. Oh well. I substitute extra delicious dark chocolate on rare occassions.

Anabanana, I'm so glad you don't actually weigh 5 lbs. ;) Enjoy your 5 mile run! I look forward to being able to run that far. Maybe in another month or two. The job hunt is going kind of amazing - I think I am an inch away from three offers, and then I should be able to decide. Hopefully more news in the next week or so.

Lfranta - Way to go on the turkey trot time! That's awesome, and I'm sure you beat a lot of somebodys.

Joanie - I did my treadmill 5k thinking of you on your treadmill. ;) Made me pick up my feet and move a little faster so I could post back here that I did it, and in fairly good time. Thanks for the inspiration.

Enjoy your meal ladies!

Happy Thanksgiving my ladies!! I'm just about to head out on my "Turkey Trot", there's a 5 mile loop by my house that I do sometimes so James & I are going to do that before going to his fam's side for Thanksgiving. As mentioned previously, they're not a healthy bunch, so one of my contributions is a huge vat of roasted broccoli. I have it all ready to put in the oven when we get back from our run. We also made an eggnog creme pie last night....mmm! Like Lisa's though, I'll be more like having a bite of James' slice instead of a whole one of my own! No idea how many cals per slice but not worth it!

Lisa, you were right about the sodium. I used to be really careful about that but have been slacking lately. Thanks for the gentle reminder! ;)

Joanie, LOVED the pinterest link you sent. Made me smile and brought be up a thousand notches out of the dumps department. Thanks girl!

Jillars, any luck on the job hunt... good luck!

Kel, stay away from the scale if it's that much of a downer for you! I know what you mean... I'll have a day when I'm feeling great and then I step on the scale and it SO doesn't reflect how I was feeling. And then I eat to drown my depression! lol. Stupid scale. Once a month is a good gauge, just work on eating and working out WITHOUT weighing in and you'll feel better. =)

Ayla, it sucks to be away from family on these big holidays! I haven't been home in a year now and I can't WAIT to go for a visit! I hope you have a good Thanksgiving though!

Jillars... your scale story reminded me of once I stepped on mine and it said 50 pounds. It was on carpet. lol

Val, I know what you mean about those damn oreos! Any junk food like that does me in. It's impossible for me to have "just one"... once I pop I just can't stop! =) I HAVE to keep it out of the house or I binge. We all have those days! Happy Thanksgiving!

Alright, looks like James is chomping on the bit to get running. lol. I better go... have a great day everyone! Oh and as for my weigh in yesterday I finally had a loss after my miserable TOM week. Now to KEEP it off and make it through this Thanksgiving dinner!!

For those that may not know, I did my 5k Turkey Trot this morning, Huge turnout. It was so fun and I ran a personal best. The clock time was 30:30 but I may have run a sub 30 since it took a small bit to get to the start line! So exciting. This was the first race that I've looked around and thought of it as a competition with other racers. Like, Imma beat somebody today lol! Great thought for T-day, right ;)

So, I'm showered up and off to get ready for my Dad's. I hope everyone has a blessed Thanksgiving!

Jillars - I know what you mean about the bike seat, but you will get used to it. Keep it up! And if nothing else, it will make you stand up which is an even more intense butt workout! I love spinning. =)

Ayla - Um...I LIVE IN WASILLA! Small world, huh?

Lisa - Thanks for the encouragement. I definitely need it! You dessert sounds yummy! I just finished putting together my contribution for turkey day too: spicy thai jicama salad and I'm also doing individual veggie cups (instead of a big veggie tray) that I saw on Pinterest. There's going to be a TON of kids, so this will be a good way to keep their grubby paws off all the veggies! My sis and my mom are doing the majority of the cooking. I hosted last year, so this is my year off!

Happy Thanksgiving to all my girls. Love you all!!
