I have a burger between two sweet potato pancakes with avocado and lettuce. Zucchini pancakes work well too. Soup, stew or chili in a thermos is go to for me too.

Thanks everyone, I really appreciate! Tomorrow will be a salad (since it is only one day this week) but if I have to go back for a full week on a jury next week, I'm getting IDEAS. Tomorrow: 1 deboned & de-skinned chicken thigh, cooked, in a lettuce wrap with cuke and daikon radish and broccolini. I'll likely add in a hard boiled egg - at least on the side. If I had remembered to get a fruit, I probably would have chosen a pear or banana.

Got rid of the ticker cuz my scale decided to flatter me unduly. I haven't re-gained, just got a better, honest, scale.

Just because you steam it, doesn't mean you can't add herbs and spices. (A gripe at those insipid restaurant "healthy choice" menu selections.)

All of these ideas sound great. One of my favorite go to cold meals is leftover chicken wrapped in lettuce leaves with slices of avocado and maybe some salsa.

Tuna, egg or chicken salad with any type of veggie you like to eat it on (cucumber slices, celery sticks, carrot sticks, pepper slices, lettuce wraps), I actually like the taste of cold chicken and cold turkey burgers. I have eaten them that way out of necessity and actually liked it. You can get creative with your veggie sides too, like a broccoli salad, or cucumber and tomato salad or coleslaw.

Yeah. I just like to get stuff that doesn't have nitrates. However, if I'm in a bind, like on the orad with nothing but McDonald's or 7-11 to get a snack, I will opt for the beef jerky at 7-11.

Secretly, while I'd love to make my own jerky I just don't have time. The Steve's Paleo jerky is really good. (as well as their other stuff!)

The lettuce wrap, pears, and the jerky sound great, I'd love to learn how to make jerky. And yes I could make hot food and just eat it room temp.

Got rid of the ticker cuz my scale decided to flatter me unduly. I haven't re-gained, just got a better, honest, scale.

Just because you steam it, doesn't mean you can't add herbs and spices. (A gripe at those insipid restaurant "healthy choice" menu selections.)

I forgot to mention -- I cannot eat nuts. The results of that are rather... dramatic.

My go-to lunches (or breakfasts or whatever) in cases like that are things like: hard boiled egg, chicken jerky, dried apples, Larabars, pears, Paleo granola bars, etc. I pack almost as if I'm packing to go hiking. :)

As long as it's fully-cooked and kept from getting warm, you can eat cold leftover 'whatever.' I do all the time.

I'm Celiac, so I cannot eat ANYTHING from any shop/ resto/ etc or I get cross-contaminated (since I'm not intolerant, I'm CELIAC, it's extremely severe and acts like food poisoning on me that lasts for days -- point being, this is what I do all the time!).

It's nice to heat up foods but I eat things room temp or cool all the time. Today, I have fried apples and pork, green beans and eggs.

Good luck! It may just be getting used to not having things warmed.

I am doing sort of a lag-Whole 30. I started Feb 6th and will go through Mar 6th.

I am also permitting fermented bean and milk products (you see, there was this big thing of whole milk yogurt locally produced, in my fridge....) However I am not permitting myself any factory/industrial farmed meats, eggs or dairy.

I picked the timing I did for logistical reasons. (Ie, going out...)

Unfortunately, I just got called up for jury duty. There is nothing walkable within the distance of the courthouse that has food I can eat on this plan. (The option of driving to someplace with food I can eat means that I will NEVER find a parking spot when I come back.) At work we have a microwave.

If the case drags on I don't want to be eating salads every lunch, especially since I will have to slam down breakfast so I can get to work *before* jury duty.

Ideas are welcome!
