I'm Celiac. When I get cross-contaminated (like Friday night, I'm still quite ill), I sometimes have to rely on rice (white, not brown) as it seems to CALM my guts.

That said, it's not Paleo and it's not something I would choose to use regularly. I go to it when everything else hurts.

Have you tried bone broths/stocks? They are very good for healing your gut. I would try that if you can, a cup or two a day. I would also suggest making it yourself as stuff from the store often contains crappy ingredients, like sugar.

There are also sunflower and other nut milks that if you buy unsweetened will be better for you. Take a look through the natural/organic sections and shops.

Rice isn't really 'paleo' but in some circles its accepted because its the least inflaming grain out there~
There is hemp milk. that is a seed, and it is the highest in protein. VERY nutritious. not my favorite flavor unless I make my own for some reason.
Why no coconut??? (I would DIE!)

There are also egg protein powders that can be mixed with water.

For the most part, rice milk is as far from 'Paleo' as you can get... it's a grain derivative, very high carb (33 grams of carb per serving... might as well just eat sugar), highly processed and nutrition poor.

Have you considered coconut milk? How about kefir (very easy to make your own, and it's healing to the gut... especially if you use coconut milk)? Making plain green smoothies (veggies and fruit only... no milk)? Using a low-carb, high quality (grass-fed) whey protein powder and water as your smoothie base?

All of these options would much better alternatives to dairy than rice milk would be.

Having said that, anyone with food sensitivites has to find their own way through the nutritional mine field, and sometimes you just do the best you can within your limitations.

Hi, i have a bit of a dilemma. I am new to this and i have been diagnosed with tons of food allergies so I lived off of milk products for a year (yes bad bad idea) I want to go off dairy cause i believe I suffer from leaky gut. I need something for my smoothies so is it ok to use rice milk? i cant use coconut =( and im afraid to try almond since i react to a lot of foods. is rice milk bad or good for u?
