I have to say I am fortunate that I am able to take the time to cook my meals from scratch. I am using many recipes from the Paleo Solution book by Robb Wolf. Some are really good and some well I need to tweak. My husband and I are both trying to stay with Paleo. I find for myself that I do not miss bread but Cheese. My weight loss started out fast but has slowed which I believe is normal. I did buy and download Sebastian Noels Recipe book. I have not used his recipes yet. Reading Robb Wolfs book has helped me understand the chemistry of our bodies better. I wish everyone luck. It is hard to deprogram all of the bad information I have had over the years. I have to eat more to lose. My sister has been very successful in this after many years. She lost over 60 lbs in a year. The Doctor told me Stress is not my friend. That is a bigger challange for me at this moment because that affects how you feel period... I need more laughs.

Hey all.

Sorry for the delay in replying. This week continued to really challenge me-- my car broke down on the side of the highway, I've been sick, I worked this weekend, etc etc. It's been really hard on me. Didn't exercise much at all this week, so I'm pretty disappointed in myself.

BUT, I did talk to my doctor about all of this diet stuff. She'd told me no dairy at all before, but after our chat she said that goat or sheep dairy (especially full-fat, raw, local, etc) would be okay to give a try. I have found that a single serving (or less) of dairy a day is apparently what my body needs to be perfectly happy on a paleo diet. AND I'm down a little over 10 pounds in 10 days.

Thanks for all of the advice. I had been eating a veritable plethora of vegetables and my WEIGHT in eggs, as well as almond butter and other nuts (though I don't go too crazy on them because it makes my gall bladder sad). I'm going to keep up my avocado and coconut levels to hopefully keep my satisfaction up!

I agree with the others on getting enough fat and protein!

Do you eat eggs? dairy?

Are you eating enough vegetables?

Maybe if you posted what you are eating, we can add some suggestions?

As far as motivation...again, I agree with writing down your goals...both short and long term! It helps to know what the prize is at the end!

I'd love to hear your sources for protein? we might could brainstorm you some more food ideas. As to motivation, the first three weeks sucked for me. I felt bad, I didn't want to, I was depressed, crabby, detoxing all sorts of things.

Why are you doing this? What are your goals? Write them down.

Also, justdo it. You don't have to want to, just make it to your time goal of doing it, why? because you want to be a person who does what you say you will do. You owe yourself that.

Goals:
If you want real results-they aren't coming for free.

Bless someone each day with my presence. Make them glad they are here.

Hey RayRay,

Woo Hoo for using the SP team when you have challenges.

I don't have a lot of personal experience with following this nutritional plan as a vegetarian, so I don't know if I can help you.

I do know that in the first few weeks of undertaking this nutritional plan, I found having enough fat in my diet was crucial to not feeling hungry - can't tell you all the science, just my experience.

Lots of people use coconuts, coco milk and oil to up the fat. Avocado is good too. For me, when I get about 50% of my daily carbs from fat, I am sated. I have lots of energy and am losing weight and body comp is changing for the better.

If you haven't done so already, check out www.marksdailyapple.com, he has a lot of great info in general and I have seen some topics for vegetarians, but haven't ready them.

I'm on day six now of my vegetarian paleo diet and I feel so blah about it all. I feel unmotivated to eat because my body is like I DON'T WANT ANOTHER FRICKING SMOOTHIE, ALL I WANT IS PIZZA. Greasy cheese is all I can think of. I'm supposed to be good for at least two weeks or I won't know if this diet helps my medical issues, but at this point I haven't had the chance to feel any benefits. It doesn't help that yesterday my doctor acted shocked that I had followed the diet and promptly told me lots of cheats that might be ok or might make my body react badly.

I'm not really eating enough because none of my limited food options appeal to me. Yesterday I fainted-- I tend to do that and it probably means eating light is also light on salt-- so I need to get over this. Any motivation to keep eating well? Because I have none.
