I just wanted to reply that now that I'm in month 2 of paleo, I can go 6-7 hours between meals now. I get hungry, but its not that dangerous low blood sugar crash. I can wait til the next meal now. However, I still munch between then on veggies as I get bored and like to eat when I'm bored.

I think it is different for everyone. I was at least 3 weeks before the cravings and hunger eased. And it was about 3 months when I started IF'ing and went to 2 meals a day. On the other hand, I know some people who still eat 3 meals - we all respond differently

How long til this 'hunger' thing goes away? I'm still needing to eat every 4 hours. I keep hearing about how folks aren't hungry anymore and are fine with 2 meals a day... I'd love for this to happen to me.

The exact opposite is happening to me. I'm now in my third month of eating Paleo and have found my appetite has dropped significantly. If I wake up and don't eat until I feel "hungry" that may not occur until 12 or 1 pm. I also don't want to eat more than 2 meals a day. But I do notice I get hungry if I don't eat enough protein.
I used to feel lightheaded and fuzzy if I went more than 3 hours w/o eating. Now intermittent fasting appeals to me because I feel better with less food.
I agree that you have to have sufficient fat on a daily basis to counteract feelings of hunger. I also avoid any and all grains, and that's made a world of difference. When I do eat a grain by accident or necessity, my appetite skyrockets. So there's plenty of incentive to not do so.
Hunger not for food but for a better version of your lesser self.

chickensoup is not usually enough to be a "meal", orzo or not. Focus on more substantial and more fat for your meals. Add avocado or olive oil or coconut oil and sometheing filling like salad greens. I usually have a good porion of meat (6 or more oz.) , a good amount of fat, and 2 vegetables and possibly a fruit at each meal. I try to minimize fruit as I am trying to lose.

I was very hungry between meals yesterday and had a snack of a small serving of raw sunflower seeds. This satisfied my hunger without too many calories. If you are going to snack, include something with some protein.

Carbs and sweet-tasting things absolutely slay me. I think I'm starving very quickly thereafter, and it sticks with me for hours. The only remedy I've found so far is to start in on my reserves of bacon! lol

Today was a terrible hunger day for me but I'm not sure if its because of low iron. But I had a slice of bread today because I almost passed out while doing my kickboxing. Then the bread led to a cup of clear soda. Aww!! I'll do better tomorrow.

I had one such hungry day yesterday. I just ate an extra piece of meat. :)

I have the same experience - I have been investigating intermittent fasting and/or eat when hungry - basically I don't eat after 9 pm and then only when hungry in the morning. That has typically been at about 10 or 11, except on those few occasions when I have had rice noodles for dinner - the next morning I wake up hungry - can usually just ignore it and it goes away.
And whether I eat carbs or not, about one day a week I need to eat more, more volume and more frequently - not sure why but a semi-regular occurence - no worries though, my body is transforming almost daily.

It could be the grains or you could just be having a hungry day! Some days out of the blue, I'm really hungry! Usually when that happens, I've been low on fat! Just a thought!
This won't come as a surprise to people who are consistent about paleo eating. But, last night I made some soup that my daughter requested after cold track practice. It's really healthy, homemade chicken broth, chicken, carrots, celery, spinach, but... here's the the but. It has a cup of orzo in it. I came home from a meeting, ate and big bowl and have been STARVING all day. The one serving of grain, my first in almost three weeks completely triggered the blood sugar thing. Definitely not worth it.
