I've read that the protein drinks with whey, while it is technically a dairy product, the way it's done, there's so little lactose and other "milk stuff" left in it that it doesn't bother most people. In fact, I think it was in a Primal Blueprint book that I read that..

Thanks everyone for the ideas! I was consider getting the Shakeology, just for the month to help make sure I'm getting veggies... But I dunno how I feel about that. My last surgery I did cream of chicken blended with extra broth, and beef stew with extra beef broth...

You can have anything you want really. Just add broth or some cocnut milk or somthing to thin it and puree whatever you would normally eat. Salad doesn't work but just about anything cooked will work.

Be careful with the protein powders... many contain whey, which is a dairy product.

think soups or meats and veges blended with added beef or chicken broth.

I'd get extra protein powder too, to make smoothies.

this is a good drink:

4-6 almonds
2-4 cardamon pods
1tsp fennel seeds
2-4 dates

soak in water overnight and then blend with the water, strain and drink.

Good luck with your surgery. Here's a tasty treat that fits some definitions of Paleo;

Mix a can of coconut milk with some fresh, or frozen berries. That's it. As simple and easy as that. You may need to add a little water to get the shake through the straw.

Enjoy.

Hey oh... I'm getting ready for my fourth (and prayerfully last) jaw surgery. I'm going to be wired shut, for hopefully only 3 weeks, but I'm not counting on it. The good news is that because the incision will be on the outside... I can suck through a straw... but, uh- you try drinking stuff through a straw with your mouth shut. Just saying.

Anyway. Hoping to get some ideas for Paleo-ish recipes. I don't think I'll be able to stick to 100% Paleo during recovery... but I'd like to make the most of it.

Thanks! (Surgery is likely 25 Jan or 1 Feb)
