The missing fat and sugar ??? Oh I know where it went... when they say wholegrains they mean something like doughnuts actually. Thats where the sugar is. The fat.... Oh the fat...they finally acknowledge that the fat can be everywhere and it really doesnt matter. Just sooo soooo controversial to admit though...so hey! lets just leave it out.

Donuts come to mind...LOL!

Hospitals are terrific for traumatic care; for acute care. They do a really, really good job in saving lives when it’s a sudden bleeding emergency. But in terms of chronic care, they’re terrible; (that is) in terms of the illnesses that most people have, endure, that cost the most money, that last the longest and ultimately die from. -Dr. Andrew Saul

Awesome article ANI! I had looked at the new "plate" yesterday, and my very same question was "where is the fat, nuts and seeds group?" It's completely dissapeared! I also "like" how it was previously lumped together with SUGAR. As if the two can be lumped together like that. Fat & sugar??? lol Ridiculous!

I am guilty many times over of doing the same thing! Ah, raw milk- no source here due to regulation but we do have a farm close by that is making artisan cheeses, full fat yogurt, quark and are also now selling whole milk in bottles at the market. You can buy your first bottle and then return it for refills. Micro brewers here are beginning to do the same thing.

I assume they were talking on NPR about over-processed, pasteurized, homogenized, "enriched" dairy products. That type of "dairy" is a big, big reason that so many people are dairy sensitive.

I drink raw milk and lots of it. and raw cheeses. Of course the Dairy Association does't make a profit when I go visit my friend and come home with a gallon of milk from her cow!! The money I pay goes directly into the cow's wellbeing not into a corporation's profit margin...LOL

From NPR yesterday morning, paraphrased: "...with a glass on the side to signify our NEED to consume dairy products. And now let's hear from so-and-so from the Dairy Council." "This is good news. Americans are currently only consuming 2 servings of dairy a day, and the recommendation is to consume 3." Good news for them, of course!!!
