I think I could start with the dairy and just use stevia instead of sugar for now. A little weight loss and an increase in energy would be encouraging. :) Thank you! Dairy seems to be problematic for me. As I am addicted to both cutting them both out at once will get me on the right road.

Wise words Grokgranny! Cuttting out dairy does help me lose, at least initially. Maybe that would be the way to start...might be encouraging to see some immediate results.

You COULD also take this one problematic food group at a time. Between dairy and sugar, which would be your easiest to eradicate? Yes, it will mean a little stalled weight loss, but what you are striving for here is permanence. You could start with dairy and then gradually move into sugar removal. Or vice versa...which ever you prefer. They both need to go. Replace sugar with stevia, which is an herb. Just by removing diary, you may find yourself with a weight loss! Both substances are highly addictive.

Then there are those who do better with going cold turkey. I've done both in the past. Gluten and dairy, I HAD TO eliminate immediately due to small intestine damage from gluten (I am Celiac) and casein (allergy).

Thinking of you today! Hope you have a good one!!

Thank you for your help. I can see myself really sticking with a Primal lifestyle and feeling great. I am looking for more energy and better mood. For one thing I really know that sugar has a huge hold on me. I cut caffeine out of my life a little dark chocolate can be beneficial to me it is just the sugar that I am definitely addicted to and the dairy. I am really struggling because what we have around the house is so limited.

Hannah do what you can that you think you will stick with. I have an advantage...I was on Atkins and low carb for YEARS! I am already used to grain free!! I am happy to have the blessing of fruit and dark chocolate! For me it is like "Home" for you it may be foreign at first. There is an element of easing in, and then there is a part where you have to have tough love for yourself and say " I won't eat xyz...." and force yourself by any means necessary for at least 3 days to break the hold it has on you. emoticon

You can do it, girl! Change is hard...especially with food. You have a good plan :)

Thank you I am finding even corn makes me feel tired. If that makes sense in fact my whole diet doesn't usually give me energy I just feel exhausted all the time. Except when I have protein I really crave it. Thank you Cindy for the advice. Starting in April I will be slowly getting off sugar, potatoes, corn, and rice and all artificial sweeteners. Also I will be avoiding all processed food. I think this is a good beginning before going totally primal. :)

Hi! As you know I am Celiac and dairy intolerant...Eating clean whole foods can help your mood, as does exercise. Start out with something lighter, or just don't use the resistance when you go to spin class. I found I had to really watch it with intensity after my diagnosis, but it has gotten better. Also maybe try hiking. The hills help get the heart rate up a little more than walking and will ease you into something more strenuous. Cutting the dairy out really helped my mood as well!

I don't have celiac but I do have a gluten intolerance. I have a Spark friend who has celiac and she is here somewhere... I think she is also sensitive to milk as I am too. So, Paleo seems to fit right in. The rest of the diet is pretty simple, clean food.
If the spinning is making you tired try a lighter form of exercise. I think once you get the food out of your system that you are sensitive to, you will feel much better and be able to do the exercise you enjoy.

I have celiac disease and am wondering if Primal could be my ticket to better health for years I have eaten grains and dairy and just have felt so tired and depressed. Can the Primal lifestyle help with depression. I used to love Spin class but am wondering if that would be too much stress on my body. I just miss biking sooo much.

I have found a significant improvement in mood by having my fish oil and getting my sunshine so I am doing that right. I just am longing to find a lifestyle that helps me get healthy and be strong. :)
Thank you for all replies I really love this group.
