You COULD also take this one problematic food group at a time. Between dairy and sugar, which would be your easiest to eradicate? Yes, it will mean a little stalled weight loss, but what you are striving for here is permanence. You could start with dairy and then gradually move into sugar removal. Or vice versa...which ever you prefer. They both need to go. Replace sugar with stevia, which is an herb. Just by removing diary, you may find yourself with a weight loss! Both substances are highly addictive.
Then there are those who do better with going cold turkey. I've done both in the past. Gluten and dairy, I HAD TO eliminate immediately due to small intestine damage from gluten (I am Celiac) and casein (allergy).
