I am going to tackle it again after dinner tongiht. but i might end a bit early as I have to go ride the new horse for 2 hours at 4pm and i don't want to be 'weak' at all - last week I got tired at 4 pm. But I did fine otherwise! no cravings etc shrug - it was like well nothing!
except increased energy and no hunger until dinner!

I find I can do it easily on the weekends. Yesterday I didn't eat till 12:30, and probably stopped eating by 8 the night before. Last night I finished eating at 7:30 and so far (9:20am) I'm not hungry yet. I'm too chicken to try it during the week though. As someone who formerly would go a bit loopy if I was too hungry (not a hypoglycemic, but I think I had some "tendencies") I haven't quite broken out of my comfort zone for IF on workdays. What I really need to do is make some paleo friendly granola bars or something so I can bring food but only eat it if I really am hungry. Maybe I should try that today and experiment this week.

MDA had an excellent blog on IF this week- he outlined the people who should not IF ever and being hypoglycemic I am one of them.

mark sisson has lots of info on IF but what sold me was this post by Dr. Eades. http://www.proteinpower.com/drmike/intermi
ttent-fasting/fast-way-to-better-health/

I like theida of eating dinner then fasting until dinner the next day - then eating BF Lunch skipping dinner.Although i am just trying this for one time right now.

Thanks Granny! yes it is not for some people and i am so glad for all the comments!

Here is my experience yesterday. i was not hungry and had no problem not eating at all! i even went skiing for an hour at lunch and did fine until about 4 pm - then I got very tired - and yawny! don't know if there was a connection but i did! I was very hungry at 10 to 6p. My fast ended at 6P and I dove right into some roasted chicken breast I had then hubby made chicken taco salad for us (he is great!) BUT by the time it was ready i was pretty full! I nibbled on chicken and some left over homemade low carb chili. Only a half cup (4 oz) but I was full! I did eat the salad but I wont do that again.

so the lesson I learned - this is not a problem for me. I will do it again.

i will make sure it is a what we call a 'scrounge night' the night after i IF - that means we eat anything left over in the fridge. have at it. Or that the meal is ready right when i need it.

i had great energy and feel good.

Thanks everyone! this team is great!

REMINDER:

Fasting is NOT for people with hypoglycemia or elevated blood sugar. I have seen my husband (who is on insulin) fall rapidly into a hypoglycemic state when he doesn't keep the Paleo food going every 2-4 hours.

(gently delivered by Grok Granny, the nutritionist!)

The rest of you? Yeah...listen to your body, it will tell you what it needs.

Let food be your first and best medicine.

A couple times a week, I eat an early dinner, not later than 5 pm, and I.F. until lunch the next day. I do better if it is spontaneous and not planned. This morning, I felt like just having a hot cup of herbal tea. If I follow my body's cues, it feels good to give my system a rest.

I don't IF- doesn't matter how much protein I have for breakfast I really need more about 4 hours later and then 4-5 hours later for dinner. My metabolism is definitely set on a certain post. From dinner on I am OK until the next morning but my activity is then greatly reduced as well. I definitely do not like the feeling of imminent fainting. emoticon

No problem. I really like IF. It seems like I get so much more done during the day since I don't stop to eat. I haven't been lifting weights while fasting, just been walking keeping busy with the kids. I think I've been fasting for too long at a time to effectively lift without becoming fatigued easily or overeating afterwards. Hmm, maybe that's my issue with not having the motivation/energy to lift... not eating enough the night prior. Keep that in mind if you are going to lift while fasting.

Thanks for starting this topic, I think I figured out my issue by responding to you!! emoticon

I IF all the time. I actually fee awesome when I do. Come to think of it for the last week or 10 days I have been IF. Most of the time until 2pm , a few days I went to 5 or 6pm, and would stop eating around 8 or 9 pm.
If you are interested in fasted training, www.leangains.com is an excellent blog to read. MDA has even recommended this site.

Did anyone else take Mark Sissons challenge in the MDA yesterday? Or what have been your experiences with intermittent fasting?
