Yeah, I think in someways you are right. It will always be difficult to explain possible benefits of the paleo diet in a short interview for TV. Happy to see his book being put out there though. Maybe a few more will take a look at the diet.
And Arthur De Vany really looked & sounded great for 73, I thought. Told my 66 year old father last night, look at the videos and eat paleo. I remember how my grandparents deteriorated mentally and physically with age. That was and is, with one grandparents remaining, tough to be around. As I told dad, the vitamin D and diet isn't for you, it's for me!
It is a great topic to be featured, it really needs to be discussed to a larger audience. It is a very comprehensive subject and unfortunately I think they missed a great opportunity in the segment. Really it just ended up being the 'whats' of his diet, and no 'whys'. I am fortunate enough to have been on this diet for a while now, and have done a lot of reading on the subject, so I understand the message he's trying to get across. The majority of people however, do not, and are badly misinformed. While he's a great role model for people, I assume that most people watching that segment will think he's just genetically gifted and maybe a bit of a kook. Don't get me wrong, I think it's a great topic that needs to be brought forward to everybody's sake, I just think they weren't able to sell it to the audience. That being said, I doubt I could have done any better... And yes, I hope to be in such good condition when I am that age...
