Thanks for the advice. I pick strawberries every June, cut them and freeze them. My children and I use the frozen strawberries to make smoothies in the summer. I do the same when blueberries are ripe. Unfortunately, I never seem to pick enough.
You were right about the ice cream. Had a craving again today and bought a small hagaan daz bar when I got my gas tank filled. Just one small bar of the real thing made the craving completely go away.

I love me some ice cream, too. I'm a fan of So Delicious coconut milk ice cream.

I'm also a fan of eating straight-up frozen fruit. Frozen bananas are good, or I'll eat frozen berries from the bag. I've also made my own kind of sorbet by pureeing berries, mixing it with some coconut milk or cream, and freezing it. It ends up really firm, so it needs to thaw a bit before eating, but it's cold, sweet, and satisfying.

For chocolate, I use equal amounts of cocoa and sweetener (1-2T, depending on how much cream)

OMG Trish, I am so with you! i just finished off a bowl of chocolate+++- there were huge chunks of REAL chocolate in it. Yes it is summer and we are not perfect- dinner was haddock fillets with BBQ asparagus/sweet peppers and garlic scapes, now that is primal. Win some, lose some....MJ

I would say Ice cream is better than sorbet. There's a ton of sugar in the sorbet and no fat from milk to moderate the insulin response. You're best bet is full fat ice cream in a dish.

You should check out brands like Turkey Hill, Breyer's and Haagan Daz. They have Natural ice cream that is only 5 ingredients and no HFCS or regular corn syrup.

Beautiful sun shiny day. Have been doing really good. Decide to stop for ice cream on my way home. I got lemon sorbet instead of ice cream. I also could have gotten a vegan ice cream...Waffle cone or in a dish?
I tried, but I just cannot live without the ice cream in the summer. I am trying to restrict it to once a week.So today was it...but ideas on what to do next week....
