Ultramarathon Man by Dean Karnazes is unbelievable!! I read it in a day on the road after we saw him speak at one of our out of state races. He is a phenomenal speaker and the book will blow your mind.

Also The Nonrunner's Marathon Guide for Women: Get Off Your Butt and On with Your Training is laugh out loud hilarious!!

I found, "The Absolute Beginner's Guide to Half-Marathon Training" to be very beneficial!

If you are looking for a book about building up to running and how do do it safely ther is a book by the guy who started the Running Room. I forget his name, but he has ran many many marathons. It is a re3al good book. I was actually thinking about pulling it out and reading it again before I start again, but can't find it. I will probably buy it again.

I loved that book. It so made me laugh. Glad I could jog your memory (no pun intended).

Marathon Women is extremely inspirational. I was lucky enough to get to hear the author speaker this spring at my marathon. She also ran the half. Kathrine Switzer was the first women to run Boston. She is also responsible for getting the women's marathon into the Olympic games. It is a good read.

Thank you so much Bob Schwartz (I Run, Therefore I Am- Nuts!) for this lovely, funny insight into my life.

I Run, Therefore, I Am Nuts is the one I was thinking of! Thank you so much! I'd just like some books that aren't so much TRAINING, but fun to read...and inspirational? If that makes sense?

I don't read running books; I get most of my running advice from "Runners World" Magazine which I just renewed since it has more tips in it and I can just put it in my mag pile when I am done; I am also going to subscribe to "Fitness" magazine. emoticon

Oh, I am so glad you started this topic! I haven't read any running books yet, so I am interested to see what everyone recommends.

Galloway's Book on Running is one of my favorites. The other books that I've read have been interesting, but I would classify them as library books to borrow and not buy.

Right now I'm reading "Racing Weight" by Matt Fitzgerald and it's definitely a "to buy" book. It's not necessarily a running book, but it addresses an issue that many of us have: how to stay lean while endurance training.

I have not actually read any books about how to run if that is what you mean. I have however read a couple good running books: Marathon Women by Kathrine Switzer and I Run Therefore I am Nuts by Bob Schwartz

Anyone recommend any books? Someone recommended to me "Run Like A Mother," and I know there's another one by a guy that I wanted to read, but I forget what it is. :(
