I think I am almost due for new shoes. I am starting to be able to feel it. I guess I'll be going shopping this weekend! I LOVE new running shoes. Have to get them about every 3 months or so.

Good morning! Only just barely still :-) Soccer tonight for me. My best workout of the week. I've been sick for one full month today so I am hoping I get better any day now! Might have to call the doc if not b/c it's definitely keeping me down fitness-wise.
Hope everyone has a fabulous day!

I have a 14km to do today. Group has decided to go out at 10:30 instead of the usual 8:30 since it will be warmer then. YAY!!

Then hubs has hockey, so I'll go be a good wife and watch (but not yell at the other team when they annoy me - I'm working on being a good sport for hubs' games so I'm not a scary hockey mom...when we have kids....).

Glad to hear I'm not the only one on a cleaning frenzy! I have a 1 BR...so it's REALLY hard. But no kids. At least that is in my favor for now.

So funny you bribed your kids with the movie! Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do.

I want to make some festive holiday gingerbread cookies while I still can. I'm going to go do another 3 miles at the gym (I decided to split it today) and then go to the grocery store for a few ingredients! I know those who have to work are probably ready for Thursday and another day off!

Saturday was my *busy* day - I ran 12.3 miles when I got up, then I came home and deep cleaned the apartment. My cousin and his wife came for the weekend and the apartment was crazily gross. It's so small, it's easy to clean, but it also gets dirty very quickly with 2 cats and a work at home boyfriend. Anyway, I stayed out WAY later than my usual 9pm bedtime, so Sunday I was beat. It was nice to just relax! Today was back to the usual routine...

I got up this morning and started right away with cleaning and packing the Christmas tree stuff up!! I've gutted all the Christmas candies, cookies etc.. Now my house needs to get back to order--kinda hard to get "order" though with 3 kids home and my hubby decided to take this week off as his vacation as well. I clean and clean only to have the kids come in like a storm and undo everything I've done. Today though I have threatened them, clean your rooms and keep the living room clean or you aren't going to the movies! I have NO problem going by myself and frankly I rather enjoy the thought of going by myself!!! So far so good! Their bedrooms are SPOTLESS!!

I love running in the rain...but I agree, it's hard to run in snow! I'm glad you were able to get outside.

I did a quick 3.5 miles this morning. I'm also lifting today but wanted to do some cleaning out while I could. I'm a teacher and have this week off so I'm using the time my husband is at work to clean out the house!

I'm going outside later to run. It's still pretty chilly right now, but it will warm up nicely.

Last night my daughter, my husband and I were playing Trivial Pursuit, and they found my next brand new hobby in a weird question about MUni. I'd never heard of MUni until we played Trivial Pursuit last night, but they thought it sounded like something I'd do. I blogged about it.

I'm in Salem, Oregon here. We've had unusual snow and ice for the past week and half and it has finally melted. We're not used to having to stay indoors and do our workouts. It rains a lot, but we can handle running in the rain. I saw bare pavement yesterday and was happy to be running outdoors and not on a treadmill. I have never enjoyed a run more so in my life. It was refreshing and exhilerating.

I love my 405! DH bought it for me...without me asking! So thoughtful. I enjoy not having to run the same route all the time now.

I just got back to Atlanta last night from visiting my family in Florida. It's so good to be home! I did well on vacation with fitting in runs and workouts! I was quite exhausted today with going to bed at 2 AM last night when we got in, but I am looking forward to another good run tomorrow.

I'm training for the ING Marathon on March 14 here in Atlanta. Can't wait!

Slept like crap due to the high winds that moved in. It was very hard to sleep with the fear of the pine trees next door blowing into your bedroom windows!! Finally got back to sleep around 5am and woke up at 9 but I think I'm going to go lay back down. My eyes are burning and they are struggling to stay open. My niece, hubby and their kids are moving into their first home today and we are suppose to head over there later this afternoon to check out the new house. I do think another hour of sleep will do me wonders cause I'm snapping at my son and hubby already this morning!!

We had temps in the low 80s here in Texas yesterday with some wicked winds...a rare winter thunderstorm this morning followed by some wicked cold winds. That being said, the sun was shining and I was able to get in a nice 6 mile run...WOOHOO!

TRICOTINE~ My 13 yr old son suffers from PF. It really acted up for him over the summer. He was running with an AAU track team and he had to take time off. Aug-October he took off. Got him fitted for new shoes and special exercises he hasn't had any problems since.

I will have to bookmark that site though for that sock just incase it does act up this spring when track starts back up, that is when it really started to bug him (track last year). I did NOT listen to him and thought he was being a baby...he tends to be the drama person here in our house. Trust me, I felt as awful as you could possibly feel and was so upset for weeks because of my lack of compassion to his injury.

Jean~ I hear ya on the wacky weather we hit 60 degrees today and a week ago we got 12+ inches of snow and it's all gone today!!! I went running yesterday and froze my rear end off, so I made sure to get out there today!!! Tomorrow we are back to cold temps and everything will be frozen over now. UGH!!

Kate~ I just started running with a group, well can't say I run with the group cause I have only ran once with them. I'm suppose to go and do an 8 mile run tomorrow morning with them but I probably wont. I hurt my legs about 2 weeks ago (on my first run with this group) I increased my highest mileage 5 miles and went and ran 8miles with this group. My left leg by my knee still hurts on runs and my right pelvic area doesn't hurt but its aggravated. I ran 2.5 outside yesterday and it was fine. It was also a slower run and mostly walking because I was with my 9 yr old daughter. I then did 3.5 miles on the treadmill and went full blast because I had to make it up because of the easier run/walk earlier in the day!!! That aggravated my knee area for most of the night last night.
Today I felt fine and decided to go ahead and go for my 3.5 mile run. Mile 2.5 the pain started. Most of my last mile was a very light run almost a walk!!!
Tomorrows run is not going to happen. Think I'm going to have to look into doing dvd's for awhile.

Wow Jackie, what wacky weather we all have been having! I am in Chicago and it was a balmy 55 degrees with rain for my run today! Weird because the high was just 10F a couple days ago. It felt pretty strange running past huge snow drifts in my capris! It won't last though, supposed to be a high of 30F tommorow. :(

I'm glad you made it home alright. Here the airports are all messed up...fog shut down O'Hare and Midway last night so there are lots of stranded travelers. :( My grandparents are supposed to fly home to Florida tommorow (fingers crossed!).

Injuries are frustrating, Isabelle. I hope that your persistence in staying off of it will work for you.

Yesterday, I ran with my two running partners in the 10 degree weather. Thankfully, today is a bit warmer because I am heading out in about 30 minutes to run 5k with them.

Thank you, COOPSM. I guess I need to get a night sock. It wouldn't hurt to try, right?

I tried my new Wii Fitness Coach today and I am not sure if it is because I haven't exercised in 3 weeks or because that program is really tough, but let me tell you... That Maya Coach has litterally drained me!

After doing only 15 minutes of cardio and a bit of Yoga, I collapsed asleep on my sofa watching my kids doing their body test on the Wii Fit! LOL

Anybody else has tried that Fitness Program?

I got a pair too and also the arch supports. I find that taping my foot with sports tape works better though, especially in my snow boots because I tend to lose the arch supports in large shoes. Besides, I find the gel pad support uncomfortable under my foot.

Have you tried that sock that keeps your foot stretched at night?

I am going to give a try to some walk/run on my treadmill today just to see how it goes.

My chiropractor - also a runner - had the PF problem and cortisone injections and it worked for him as well. I hope it will work for me too...

I certainly will let you know how it goes.

Hope everyone is feeling better today, Isa and Jean!

I had a nice 6.2 mile run in the AM, and then I went out with BF on his 3.1 mile run / walk a little later. It was funny b/c after a 9.3 mile run, I would usually be tired, but since I split it up, I had plenty of energy! We didn't have a big dinner but ate some "healthy" snack food that I made - all of BF's favorites.

This AM I biked 10 miles at the gym at did some ST. I feel a little bloated, but am confident I will get back on track!

YIKES Isabelle! That sounds like it will be quite painful just reading about it, but I did have a friend that had PF...she took the cortisone injections and thankfully it worked for her, but then again she isn't a runner. I wish you well!

Tricotine - I am not exactly sure how you should start things up again since you have one foot that really isn't healed. It's a very tough thing heal (PF). I imagine you much be pretty annoyed that 5 weeks didn't do it for you.

It's gonna be interesting to see how the injections work...do let us know. I have a friend who has suffered from that for far to long now...if you get relief from it with the injections I will have to let him know.

I hope you feel better soon, Jean!
Sending {{{HEALING HUGS}}} your way

You all make me so jealous here! I am still recovering from Plantar Faciiatis - actually one foot has not healed as well as the other one and I can barely walk at the end of each day, and I have booked an appointment for Cortisone injections at the beginning of January... Wish me luck. I was told that this is very painful... Yikes!

But it takes what it takes, right? I have that 10-miler race on February 1st and I don't want to miss it even if I have to walk/run it.

In fact, I have decided to start a post-recovery program (walk/run) tomorrow on my treadmill. I will be doing the Runner's World 8-Week Beginning Runner's Training Program.

Depending on how my body reacts (after 3 weeks on no-exercise (I have lost my motivation for the gym when I had to stop running...) and LOTS of BINGING on Holidays bakings) I plan to do 2 our of 4 days of each week running only.

Hopefully, I will be back to a decent distance running (I am not considering speed at this point) without spitting my lungs out by the day of the race... LOL

Wish me luck! I am going to need it... Luck and some kicking in the rear too! Anyone up for that? LOL

Any tips on how to safely resume running after almost 5 weeks without running would be deeply appreicated as well... emoticon

Thanks!

I wish I could say that I was out running today "with" you guys, but unfortunately I have Bronchitis and a sinus infection. I spent X-mas trying not to be a typhoid! Getting to bed early and sleeping in is my plan for the night. Hopefully the rest will have me feeling better and back to running sooner rather than later! I hope everyone had a great holiday!

Yay for Christmas running!!

I went out for a quickie before Christmas dinner - felt great to be out there!!

Have you all started thinking about your goals for 2009?? Races? Number of fitness minutes? Life stuff to accomplish??

I didn't run today...my belly is so full with food that I don't even think it's possible.

Tomorrow I hope to put in a few miles.

Evening! Great title for a chatter thread, Jeriberi...
Merry Christmas!
I'm envious....I promised hubby yesterday that I would not set my alarm this morning, I would sleep in with him, and would NOT do PT. I have enjoyed the rest day and will be running tomorrow (HOPEFULLY outdoors with my new Garmin Forerunner 405). Wonderful to just get out and go without a specific plan in mind, AHHHH....nothing like running.
Take care!

There really isn't a general chatter category, so I guess I'll just ramble on in this post.
Today was a really good Christmas. I ate way too much. But after the family celebrations, I had a wonderful Christmas run! 5 easy miles through town, stopping along the way to say Merry Christmas to friends and neighbors, slowing down for some unleashed doggies who wanted to run along with me, and just enjoying the run. I averaged a 10:28 pace, even slowing down for all the chat and dogs. It really was a peaceful, relaxing run. It was one of those runs that just makes you happy to be a runner!

She woke up one morning and threw away all her excuses...
