Rosedale, glad you are keeping your spirits up and keeping busy. Do you have any tips about looking for work in terms of the discipline it takes to seek opportunities?

Hang in there...medical insurance is such a biggie...! I think the USA had better make some serious changes in the way healthcare and insurance is provided...just seems like things are breaking down in "the way it's always been!"

Thank you for the resources.

I have been unemployed since April 2010. The past 2 months I have been working temp with the promise of permanent status but until that happens I keep up to date with job opportunities.

It's so easy to get down when there is so little out there but I've been able to keep myself busy volunteering while looking for permanent work. It has kept my spirits up.

The down part is that I just lost my medical insurance. Cobra doesn't run out for a couple months but I lost the discounted cost and cannot afford the full cobra premium. It's either insurance or pay rent. If anyone has any ideas on how to find something cost effective it would be much appreciated.

Hang in there everyone.

The U.S. has been celebrating Labor Day since 1882. It was originally intended to recognize laborers throughout our great nation.

Most people now celebrate Labor Day as the end of summer. These days, it's more about barbecues, parades and the beginning of football season.

Still, it's good to remember why the holiday was originally celebrated. After all, we work hard. We deserve a day to celebrate our efforts and achievements.

Unfortunately, many people are out of work this Labor Day, as unemployment continues to hover near 10 percent. Perhaps you are among the many individuals navigating this harsh job market.

I've scoured the Web for resources that can help. Get inside tips for landing your dream job. Find legitimate work-from-home opportunities. You also might want to look into starting your own business!
