Yes, something along those lines. I worked at our local hospital while in college, cleaning the kitchen and then ward secretary.

Remember, nobody can go back to the very beginning and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end.

My son-in-law is an electrician and he's been laid off too. This is a really tough economy. I haven't found anything in medical that pays more than unemployment, but then I don't have the experience or the education to make the switch. An associates from the local community college might be affordable. I need to investigate that possibility.

VERY true...even for young folks care should be taken to avoid running up catastrophic debt which one's field of choice can't reasonably be expected to generate enough income to pay it off...!

I often urge folks to give careful consideration to either blue collar work (plumber, electrician, auto repair, etc.) or the medical field as these cannot be "outsourced" overseas and offer more security.

It's unfortunate that the cost of education has skyrocketed. Makes it hard to justify going back to school at the age of 55.
