What a great way to track expenses! I could have used that when I lived with a bad roommate who took advantage of me and I wound up paying the majority of the bills. emoticon Lesson learned there, but it's nice to have the facts, indisputable, on a statement.

Thanks for sharing!

Scred

Do you share living expenses with more than one person? I have a good friend who does; he has to split the cost of rent, utilities, and food with two other people. He was looking for a good way to kept track of it all and asked me for help. I found Scred.

Scred allows you to create pools that track debt between multiple people, balance them, and show you who owes what to whom.

Registration is easy! Just click the Register button and fill out the form with a username, e-mail address, default currency, and then create a password. Once you’ve got the form all filled out click the Register button. Make sure to use a working e-mail address so that you can verify your account. My confirmation e-mail came almost instantly.

You’ll start out on the My Scred page where you can create pools to track debts among a group of people or create a Direct between you and another individual. If you want to test out the way pools work click the link Test. This will let you test out the pool features before you create your very own pool.

You can manage your pools in the Pool section. Here you will be able to add or remove a pool. To add a pool, click the Create a Pool button, and select Normal Pool. (The MiniCorp requires a beta key to use.) Fill out the form with a name for your pool, the base currency, and then add members to the pool. You’ll add members by typing their e-mail address. You can click the + button to add more than one person.

You’ll now have four tabs to choose from Scred It!, Members, Transactions, and Settings. On the Scred It tab you’ll be able to add debts, shared expenses, track shared incomes, and see who has paid what back. The Members tab allows you to see who is a part of the pool and to add more members. The Transactions tab allows you to see the transactions for the pool. And last but not least is the Settings tab where you can manage the pools settings.

This a great solution to making sure everyone in a shared debt situation has access to all the numbers involved, and know at a glance who has paid what, what they may owe, as well as, who owes them.

Be sure to pass this one along to anyone you know in a position to have the need to track their expenses because this is one fantastic tool!
