Maggie, in case you're not aware of this, Massachusetts also offers several options for medical insurance, including direct coverage and reimbursement for COBRA or other medical insurance premiums: www.mass.gov/?pageID=elwdsubtopic&L=

I am in North Central Massachusetts. I don't attend church so really don't feel comfortable relying on anything that they may offer if I am not a member of their church. Unemployment can be done on line here as well but because I was signing up for the first time I wanted to go down in person. That is done. Got a bit of bright news when I returned, the realtor called and has two showings this week. Hopefully, they will like what they see but I am not getting my hopes up. I am just trying to roll with the punches and take one day at a time. If/when the house sells, I will still need to find an apartment (SOON) that takes three dogs and a cat. That will also be difficult. But again - one day at a time. I am NOT going to worry myself sick over this just yet. Thanks for the advice. Kathy

In my state, the Unemployment Office work can all be done via the Internet. I have been unemployed since last Oct. for the first time in my life and am 60+ years old. It is tough! Reading the articles posted on this teams discussion forums has been very helpful for my emotional and physical wellbeing. Work at keeping a positive outlook. Connie

It's going to be a tough ride, no other way to slice it with the challenges that you're facing MAGGIESMOM. I like your plan to start working with your exercise DVD and walking your dogs! So much may be beyond your control, however fitness and healthy food choices are areas where you can exercise greater control...don't give up on these!

Also DO check out any / all resources in your area for the unemployed. Ask friends, family for as much information as possible. Do some online research. Often churches have charitable sources of food and clothing.

If you want to either share here at this thread or to me via SparkMail the approximate geographic area where you reside either I and / or others can assist in your research as well!

Check out the various resources that have already been posted elsewhere on our SparkTeam's message boards as well.

Praying for a positive turn of events for you...keep coming back and update us on your progress!

Well today is my official first day of being unemployed. I've known it was coming for the last couple of months but that hasn't made things any easier. I had given up for a while. No dieting, no exercising except for walking the dogs. I had given myself until today to just sit back and do nothing but re-group and prepare myself (mentally) for today. So today, I got up and had breaksfast and put in an exercise DVD. I hope to get myself back on track and get a new schedule in place for exercising - at least until i find a new job. Things are pretty bleak in my neck of the woods; I don't feel too hopeful about finding a job anytime soon. In the meantime, my house is up for sale because I cannot afford to pay the mortgage on unemployment. I hope it will sell before the bank takes it. So I have a 40-45 minute ride to the nearest unemployment office and it is POURING out right now with thunderstorms rolling through. I hope I can hold on and get through this but I am really having a hard time with it right now. Good luck to all of you with your goals. Kathy

Everyone did a super job hustling and racking up those Fitness Minutes and SparkPoints this month! Must be summer is here and folks are getting out to enjoy the weather and MOVE! :-)

Here we are half way through 2009...these years sure don't slow down, do they? How's everyone doing? On track with your goals? Need to re-evaluate where you're at and perhaps cook up some new goals? Are we taking time to enjoy ourselves, our lives and loved ones?

Post your thoughts here at this thread and let's offer each other support and feedback!
